    Good morning.
It's currently 62F, overcast, and lots of fog. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High near 75F. Winds light and variable. There was a lot of thunder and lightning late last night, but not much rain.
Ed, rainy mornings are good for sleeping in if you can.
I'll probably stop over at my daughter's for a little while this a.m., my daughter is getting a dress fitting at home. I can give her a little break to do that. Her children are both so sweet that I have become one of those people totally enthralled by their grandchildren.
Anyway, it looks like a day to do something comforting.
    Happy Tuesday, everyone.

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! Busy with work this morning as we have some dreadful deadlines. Nothing critical on the home front.

    Good morning.
Good luck meeting your deadlines, Ed.
We had some rain overnight. It's currently 64F, cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower. High 72F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph.
No plans for today, may take a ride over to the library. May bake something. I'll see how I feel in a little while. I seem to have gotten a cold. Don't know how that happened. I'm careful with masking and distancing.
Our housecleaner is coming tomorrow instead of today. We're pretty loose with the schedule.
It's totally overcast, and I'm achy, so probably won't do much.
    Have a good day, everyone.

More fun this a.m trying to resolve issues with our stolen credit card number.
Our house cleaner is here, which is wonderful. I'm still a little under the weather.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! A bit wet out there today. I have been busy finding issues with one of the software packages we are attempting to roll out soon, so forgot to check in earlier.

On the home front, laundry is in the dryer and J is only now eating the large salad prepared for lunch. I ate mine a couple of hours ago.

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! We currently have 20 (68 F) cloudy degrees with an expected high of 26 (79 F) under partly sunny skies and a 23% chance of precipitation.

One of my younger brothers should be here in a couple of hours to pick me up on the way to Paducah, Kentucky. This weekend is our mother's 85th birthday bash and it looks like we will manage to get all ten of the siblings together, for the first time in many years. It will be one of the rare occasions when that isn't for a funeral or wedding too!

I already got 43 hours of work in this week so don't have to worry about missing work today. I have a studio/suite reserved at the Fairfield Inn. My brother is staying at another Marriott venue just a short walk away. I tried to book there but they were booked up. It's OK. I have stayed at the Fairfield before, but not in a studio. The upgrade to the studio was just $4 more per night. I do hope they actually have one when I get there. Of course I got the senior discount rate. I won't tell them I am really the same age as Jack Benny. 39.

I didn't quite get everything done that I wanted to, work-wise, this week but got almost all of it done, and more than enough to keep the development programmers busy for a few days. I really should not have much, if any, catch up next week, aside from the usual pile of "ready for Quality Assurance" items that never seems to decrease. But hey, it keeps me busy and not bored!

    Good morning.
Good for you, Irene. My husband got his a week or 2 ago. I got the Moderna so not in line for that.
Ed, enjoy your Mom's birthday and the family gathering. That is so nice you are able to do that! Safe travels.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! My oldest brother is having a bonfire in his back yard tonight. Last night was chili at Mom's, with taste testing of some desserts. I want to get out to the local winery for some beverages to bring back home with me. They make an outstanding Cabernet Franc, or at least they used to. I may buy a case of that if they have it. And, of course, see what else they have on hand. I might even run into a high school classmate there. She was working there 6 years ago when my mother and I stopped in. I am not really trying to see anyone but family on this short trip, but of course will say hello if she's there.

Well, let me get on downstairs and see the dangerous buffet breakfast this hotel is supposed to be serving.
Dangerously delicious and carb laden probably.

Ed, it sounds like a really fun family gathering. And visiting wineries is always fun. Enjoy to the fullest!
It's currently 62F here, generally cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 71F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph.
We'll probably go watch my grandson with his soccer group and see the family. Little Lilly is so adorable and snuggly, a month old already.
    Happy Saturday, everyone. :)

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! We had a good time at the bonfire last night. There are a few pictures that one of my siblings took that I may share later.

But wait, there's more! We weren't all actually here yet, with two siblings still en route from New Mexico, so we won't get the BIG GROUP PICTURE until this afternoon. The Hawaii people arrived earlier, so we had 8 out of 10 present last night along with, of course, Mom, and various other relatives.

I only bought a case and a half of wine at the winery. I gave a bottle (one of my precious bottles of Cabernet Franc!) to one of my brothers in law. He and I disagree about nearly everything, but not in a disagreeable manner, and are great friends. He had the good sense to marry my sister, so there must be something there. LOL.

I donated three bottles of sweet to off-dry for the bonfire party, two of which were actually opened. The remaining one there became a host/hostess gift to my brother who hosted the bonfire, and his wife.

It was a lovely night for a bonfire. Of course the food was hot dogs for roasting over the coals, chips, various desserts, including the makings for s'mores, several bottles of wine, unsweet tea, beer, and sodas. I ate too much.

Today is my mother's actual 85th birthday. I suspect that the party today will feature barbecue from a local place that is renowned for its food.

My brother Jerry, that I rode up with, and I had sandwiches from Starnes (the local barbecue place) for lunch yesterday, to ensure that we had our Starnes fix for this trip. He had the barbecue and I had ham. He bought a couple of pounds of barbecued shredded pork, and a medium sized bottle of their peppery sauce, to bring home. I bought a couple of pounds of pork and a couple of pounds of barbecued ham, to bring home, along with a smaller bottle of the peppery sauce. A little of it goes a long way. We have frozen the meat in the full size refrigerator he has in his hotel suite, and will put it on ice in a cooler for the ride back to Georgia.

So I can have delicious barbecue and ham from home, at home, if that makes any sense.

I know we are having baked beans at the party (not my famous baked beans), various other sides, cake and three kinds of ice cream, and I am bringing giant vanilla graham goldfish cookies, a food service item made by Pepperidge Farms. J loves them, so I bought a case (300 small serving packets, 2 cookies in each packet) and brought a little over a hundred with me to share with family. You may find them at your local Zaxby's, as the dessert in the kid's meal of grilled cheese and fries.

And, at the party, we should be able to get the big picture of Mom and all ten of her children, since the last two siblings should have landed at our airport about 10:30 last night.

I am on my second cup of tea, and my hotel room coffee is brewing. Why yes, I d d bring my own tea bags. I dislike missing my morning hot tea and not all hotels even provide tea in the room. Even when they do, it's not my usual type of tea.

I will finish my beverages, having already eaten too much buffet breakfast, and pack up to head to the party and then home.

    hi.
Apparently my post from this morning didn't post! It's currently 67F here with a high of 68 expected, overcast, rained overnight. Possibly more rain today.
Ed, sounds like you're having a wonderful time in Kentucky with your family. And so nice that you can bring some treats home with you. Safe travels.
Irene, Jo, Jan, and Val, hope you're doing well.
I'm not doing much today. Took a nice hot soak this morning, trying to break up this cold. It's a good day to relax.
    Happy Sunday, everyone.

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! I haven't checked the weather, as it was hard enough just dragging myself out of bed this morning. We left right after the group pictures but I still didn't get home until nearly 11:00 last night, and didn't get to bed until nearly midnight. Around 1:00 I got up for the bathroom and Orion decided that he absolutely NEEDED some snuggling on my chest, so for about 15 minutes we took care of that.

Beyond that, I didn't sleep all that well. The leaf mold is making me sneezy, and two long car trips in one weekend is always hard on me. So dragging my butt out of bed at 7:00 this morning was not fun.

But the cats are all fine, and the house didn't implode or anything while I was gone. I managed to scrounge some breakfast, and get a new smart switch (network hub thingy) installed for my office space in time to get to our 8:15 online meeting. But boy do I wish this company celebrated Columbus day as a work holiday. Oh well, I am almost done with my second mug of tea and my coffee is ready.

And I have to figure out what to do with a very ripe pineapple that J was supposed to take to central Kentucky with him. I am sure I can think of something.

Ed, sounds like you've gotten a lot done this morning, despite the travel fatigue. I know your trip was well worth it.
Yum, pineapple. I'm sure you'll find something good to do with it.
It's currently 61F, cloudy. High 73F expected. Winds light and variable.
I'm going to the library some time today. Nothing else scheduled.
Another new week. Wishing everyone a good one.

It seems one of our Japanese spiders had built a web across the front walk. I had to clear remnants of it to come in the front door last night.

And my Amazon delivery for yesterday, that was supposedly handed to a resident, was tossed under the hedge near the remnants of web.

My guess is that the poor driver ran into the web and the "resident" that the package was handed to was the spider...needless to say, I will not complain about that delivery.

The last one is my mother and her surviving siblings. She is one of 6, but the youngest daughter died quite a few years ago, due to cancer.

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! We have a cool, clear 16 (60 F) degrees right now with an expected high of 27 (81 F) under partly sunny skies. We have a 4% chance of rain.

I didn't get much done yesterday because of server issues with work, and some long collaboration meetings. Well, we did get some things decided during the meetings and J was making some changes as the meeting progressed. But it felt like a long day.

After work, I went out for groceries, despite feeling a little bushwhacked. I filled the list, came home, and, fortunately, didn't really have to cook, per se. J is in Kentucky so it was just me, and the barbecued pork from Paducah was thawed enough to have some for dinner. I opened a can of Bush's baked beans to go with it, warmed up some of each and had a nice plate of supper. After that it was late enough I didn't feel like trying to watch any video or online entertainment, so I took a shower, fed the sugar gliders, gave the cats their dental treats (in lieu of brushing their teeth, which I won't do - I am fond of my fingers) and basically went to bed.

It reminded me why I usually have my groceries delivered of late. Since I am working full time (sometimes a bit more even) there don't always seem to be enough hours in a day! At least I don't have to waste any time getting to (or from) work, since I can work from home. But there were a few things I wanted to be absolutely sure of, so I did my own shopping for a change. Of course I can do that on weekends too, generally, but some things can't wait until the weekend.

Breakfast was more pork. And beans. Haha, pork and beans!

The dishwasher is running, and it's nearly time to get my mug of coffee and get to work.

    Good morning.
Ed, what a great, big, wonderful family! I have no aunts or uncles, and just my sister left from this generation. I called her yesterday, she's living in Utah with her son, she's quite a character.
My husband does most of the grocery shopping. I miss being able to look around, see what's looking good and picking up some different foods for a change. I got a spaghetti squash, realized they should be back in season, looking forward to that.
I spent some time with my daughter and grandchildren yesterday. There is something so comforting about holding a baby. It's magical.
No special plans for today. Need to exercise, etc. Time is flying by. Currently 63F, a little warmer today. Areas of patchy fog and cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. High 76F. Winds light and variable.
It's Wednesday already! Wishing everyone a happy day.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! We currently have 16 (61 F) clear degrees out there with an expected high of 28 (82 F) under partly sunny skies and a 4% chance of rain.

The other new guy at work and I have been working together nicely the last couple of days. I give him information on the bugs I find in the software and he gets right on it working toward a fix. He is also trying to learn as much as possible from one of the contract programmers who will be leaving our employ pretty soon when his contract expires, so he's staying pretty busy.

Sometimes I think we spend too much time in conference calls, but the programmers do make changes during the calls, and I provide input on structure and user interface, as well as things that could work better (or at all) so it's not really a waste. I just don't like spending that much time interacting so directly with people, being the introvert that I am. At least it's not face to face, and I learned how to endure the conference calls back when I was working for the government in computer security.

Oh well, my tea needs a refill.

It's currently 62F, areas of dense morning fog, but it looks like that's burned off here and it's kind of sunny. A mix of clouds and sun expected. High 77F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Ed, meetings can be awful, but as long as something is being accomplished and the communication is good, then it's worthwhile. Sounds like yours are fairly productive.
I'm going to see my GP this morning. I'm still not feeling quite right.
    Wishing everyone a good day.

Hopefully, being fully vaccinated, you will have, at worst, a mild case, and at best, hardly any symptoms at all. Is there any chance that the test was wrong?

I am watching myself now, and somewhat isolating, having been at a rather large gathering for my mother's 85th. It was great seeing people I haven't seen in a long time, but it was way too peopley for my taste. I came home to a house with only pets, as J is back visiting family in central Kentucky, but I have done a small amount of shopping in the interval. I haven't interacted with very many people, and I was wearing a mask while shopping.

It's fantastic Friday! 16 (61 F) fair degrees out there. How is that different than clear? As the king of Siam might have said, is a puzzlement. We are expecting a high of 29 (84 F) under sunny skies.

I need to get some plants watered today.

    Good morning.
Ed, I went to the Dr. because I wasn't feeling well, so even a mild case is pretty crappy. I don't usually go to the Dr. for a cold. My husband also tested positive, as did our son-in-law. My daughter and grandson were negative on the rapid test and are waiting for the results of the longer test. We are all fully vaccinated except for the little ones. So everyone has to quarantine, which is pretty awful. I hope no one gets really sick.
Good that you're being careful, Ed. This is a sneaky one.
It's currently 62F , sun and clouds mixed. Very warm. High 82F. Winds light and variable.
