Good morning;
It was 1 degree when I got up at 4:30 and it is now -2 at 7 am. I thought it was supposed to get warmer.
Today I go for my follow up with the dr. I finished all my antibiotics, but still have a slight dry cough.
While I am out I will run a few errands, other than that it will be another lazy day.
Have a good day and stay warm.0 -
Good morning.
Take it easy, Irene.
Jo, hope your Dr. visit goes well and that you're feeling better. Sounds like you can use a few more days of rest. And brrrrrrrrrr....that's cold!
It's 19F here. We had some snow overnight, the roads look like a sheet of ice. More snow and ice expected today and into tonight, turning to rain some time tomorrow. I still have plenty to do around the house. Didn't get to most of my projects!
Roger, hope you have better weather than us...here, not at all a day for walking!
Have a good day, everyone.0 -
Hi
No walk yesterday, just too cold, I did get out today despite the 15 degree starting temperature. It was OK out for most of the walk until near the end, Around the time I left the Dunkin Donuts with my coffee it started to snow, there was enough snow to be swirling in the street when cars passed by. Then a little breeze came up and it felt colder despite being 20 degrees when I arrived home. Snow later today turning to rain at some point. If we get the wind whipped rain forecast for tomorrow no walk
On the news yesterday
New Yorkers were able to warm up Sunday with free hand warmers from Modell's.
Employees from the sporting goods retailer gave hand warmers out for free in Times Square and Penn Station.
Temperatures dropped to record lows Sunday, making it the coldest Valentine's Day in New York City in 100 years.
Which was nice of them. Also it seems that there were weddings taking place in Times Square despite the record cold for Valentines day too, Only in NYC.
Have a Good Week
RogerIt was 9 degrees before but has warmed up to a sunny 16.
I am using the clean cycle on my oven today...figured it is a good day to do that, clean the oven and warm up the house! Definitely a good day to stay inside and keep warm.
Roger, good time for a day off.
Good plan, Irene. Annie is obviously a smart dog.
Hi Jo!
Hugs to all.
Hi Vix
The Weather Yesterday set records for Low temperatures as well as for having the Lowest High temperatures for Valentines Day in many years.
I would not even know how to get the Electric Oven to do a self cleaningGood morning.
Take it easy, Irene.

Hi Again
As You can read I did get out today, I felt that I needed it after Yesterdays no walk and the forecast for Tomorrow most likely killing any desire to go outside on Tuesday. It will sort of depend on what I see on the Mornings weather forecast when I get up Tuesday morning. The Local news12 cable only channel does a weather forecast and Traffic report every ten minutes starting at 1 minute after the hour.
The Roads and sidewalks cleared off dry yesterday, no icing for us.
Have a Good and safe Day

Roger-I have a pension from the hospital that I worked for, and I will get one from my current job. So with those and my 401K and social security, I should be all set.
Vix-I made muffins for hubby and with having the oven on the kitchen was nice and warm.
Irene-Annie is a smart dog. Both of my cats are lying in the sun streaming through the window.
Hubby took me out to dinner last night for valentines day. We had a lovely time and we brought home leftovers for another meal. It depends on what we get but usually we get a few meals out of what we take home.
Have a good day and stay warm.
Hi Joanne
That sounds like good news. My only worry about being on a fixed income is that I suspect prices will rise substantially as this push for $15 a hour minimum wage spreads. I do not see how when a business is paying more the selling price can not rise too. Then add in the fact that other non minimum employees will want a equivalent increase in wages when that happens and I am somewhat worried. I could also be wrong of course, my fortune telling ability is nil
I think it only hit -1 degrees real temperature here, however the wind chill was a lot lower than that.
Last Nights weather forecast around 10:40 PM was showing a -9 temperature for the Hamptons on long island.
Just curious was it crowded what with the cold?
Glad You had a nice day

I guess I am lucky it was only 15 when I got up. That is a lot better than You have today.
Stay Warm and Good Luck with the dry cough

Hi Irene
I only got a walk in on Saturday myself, just to cold so I went out this morning myself for the same reason. If we get that wind driven rain as forecast, no walk tomorrow either.
Have a Good Day at Work

It's snowing again....another good day for cleaning the oven! Haha, I cleaned the top one yesterday, then realized the bottom one could use a cleaning too. That one is getting done today...so happy to have self cleaning ovens. Just have to wipe them down when they cool off.
I think I'll make some soup today too.
Roger, that must have been a chilly walk. If I feel like going out later, I may push some snow. Right now, I'm happy being inside and being fairly lazy.0 -
Hi Vix
I see you have two ovens, here we are making do with just one
It was OK for the first 2/3 of the walk than chilly followed by darned cold as the breeze started pushing the cold air through the Hoodie over a sweatshirt, layered effect.
Stay inside and Warm sounds like a good idea right now
Roger0 -
Still snowing...making soup, not going out. I hardly ever use my 2nd oven, just on holidays. It came with the house. Hoping it clears the driveway and sidewalks when it turns to rain. I am an optimist at heart.0

good morning, we did start on our walk this morning but turned around it was all ice but since it is so warm out it will be melting fast it is 50 out side now. I left an hour early from work last night was afraid it was going to be all ice glad I did because by the time I got home it was starting to turn to ice rather be safe.Today it is suppose to be close to 60 I am ready for spring had enough of the cold.wow two ovens I don't use mine very often so that would be a waste in my house of course for the holidays it would really come in handy.0

Hi
The Local weather report shows that there is no rain currently so I thought I would go walking before the heavy rains come in later. The overnight snow that turned to rain has ended. I went out the front door and tested the footing before getting geared up to go as things are looking slushy and wet. Not good to walk in as the sidewalk is icy, Better safe than sorry. Traffic accident reports coming in as I type this listening to the radio.
Have a Good Tuesday

Hi Vix
So far it looks like everything is coated with a layer of slush, Slush I could put on the boots and walk anyway, but icy underneath no. It may not be safe to walk before the heavy rain and even warmer air arrives, time will tell.
Enjoy the Day and Stay Dry

Hi Irene
I believe You with the icy I just looked at the enclosed front porch reading and it is showing 40 degrees. Smart move to leave for home early Monday.
Spring would be nice, OTOH once the heat of summer arrives I know I'll be waiting for Fall.
Have a Good Day Working
Roger0 -
Good morning...it's in the mid 40s here and raining steadily. The sidewalks and driveway are slushy, but melting. I haven't been out yet. Glad I didn't bother to shovel. It will probably be melted down in a couple of hours. Supposed to rain all day here.
I'll probably call up to the Sr. Center later to see if they'll let us work on our clay today. They are opening at 10, schools are closed. I think there are flood warnings in the county, but shouldn't affect where we'd be driving.
Be careful on the ice!
Have a good day.0 -
Good evening;
It got up into the 50's today. This morning when I went out to work everything was icy. It has been raining most of the day. It is just starting to get heavier. I thought we were going to lose power, the lights flickered 3X.
Irene-you beat me last week in steps. You were smart to go home before it got too icy.
Vix-sometimes I would love to have 2 ovens, especially around the holidays when I am making cookies. It would go so much faster. Did you get to work on your clay today?
Roger-when I got out of my car at work I took little tiny steps and went very slow. Yes, the restaurant was crowded.
I guess the cold wasn't going to stop people from going out to dinner.
Have a good night and stay warm.0 -
Hi Again
I walked after I posted early this morning It drizzled a couple of times and after I was home home the skies opened up and it poured with high wind gusts. Then it ended this afternoon and I was out walking again as I was a little under on @ 7K+ steps + 1 cent, now I'm over @ 12K steps.
there was some slush and puddles this morning so I wore the insulated waterproof boots, this afternoon it was fine just a few puddles I could easily avoid.
Cheers

Hi Vix
As you can see from my posts we had snow into rain yesterday, then a period of dry followed by heavy rain and then clearing, I even saw the Sun this afternoon

Hi Joanne
I think I was lucky in that I never saw the lights flicker. I did see some smaller branches on the sidewalks and roads when I walked this afternoon. I also take small sort of sliding steps on a icy surface if I can not avoid them.
My Brother gets around the one oven by doing the baking over several days, then we Vacuum seal the baked goods and often freeze them too before he ships them all over to his friends. The local ones we just drop off.
When I stuck my head out the door around 7:45AM things were icy, then 2 hours later the only slick spots were where the cars or other walkers had packed the snow down.
Have a Nice Evening
Roger0 -
It only got up to the 40s here today, but it was enough to melt all the snow on the sidewalks and driveway, and the sun was nice this afternoon.
I did get to go and work with some clay. We went a little bit later, and they unlocked the kiln room for us, so we were able to get out our finished pieces and put new ones in. That was really nice of them because all activities (except for lunch which they fix for some of the older people) were supposed to be cancelled. The weather really wasn't bad at all. There was some torrential rain earlier in the morning, but but the afternoon it was nice out.
Have a good evening, everyone.0 -
good morning, well all the snow and ice are gone we did our regular walk this morning got my 8000 steps in . I also found 12 cents well hope you all have a great day0

Good morning!
All the snow and ice melted here too. Off to the gym this morning.

Hi
Much better weather today when walking. Not as warm but OK and no rain There was a little icing in a few minor easily bypassed spots.
I am working on capturing family Video Tapes, VHS for a family member. It is a little frustrating however, The captures look really good, however the capture stops every time the video was stopped and started again due to loss of video. I have tried two capture software so far maybe more research is needed. I need to babysit the process so I will be shortwinded here today.
Have a Good Wednesday

Hi Vix
It was decent weather yesterday between the rains and after the rains, Today is better if a little colder. I Got by with the gloves and a Hoodie instead of my usual winter attire of Sweatshirt & hoodie and Mittens with a HotHands heat pack inside.
Roads and sidewalks looked good too

You have me beat I found 1 cent Monday and another 1 cent Tuesday.
I got my regular walk in as far as distance, my stride must have lengthened as I am covering the same distance with fewer steps

Good afternoon;
It was warmer outside than it was in work. It actually felt good to go outside.
Roger-I tried the beef and broccoli with orzo last night. It was very bland. I think next time I will add something to boost the flavor. I also tried the chicken and roasted vegetables. I thought it was a little spicy and there was something in it that spoiled the flavor for me. I have one more and will try it again with some add-ins and see if I like it any better. I also tried the chocolate cupcake and the stuffed apple pie. They were both good and I would order again.

Hi Jo! Hi Irene and Roger.
Well, I've suddenly gotten a cold. Going to rheumatologist tomorrow. I wrote a lot of questions down, good thing.
I finished the vegetable soup that I made the other day, and just had some tea with honey.
Have a good night everyone....sleep well.0 -
good morning,Vix sorry you are sick hope you feel better we went for our walk it was nice no snow or rain! As far as ns food I have pretty much just staying with the same stuff. I did find 1 cent today well have a great day0

Good morning.
Thanks, Irene. Just seems to be a little cold. I'm ok. It's cold this morning, 29F, but the sun is shining under clear blue skies.
I kind of miss having the NS food...there was some variety and it was really easy to prepare, but I'm doing ok with mostly unprocessed foods.
Painting and drawing class this morning, and I have to stop off at the library, then on to the rheumatologist this afternoon, so it'll be a pretty busy day.
Have a good day, everyone.0 -
Hi
Another day, another walk + 1 cent. It is colder and somewhat breezier this morning. My hands were getting cold too, I should have opened a HotHands warming pack before setting out So on the way back I stopped in at the Quick Chek and got a second refill of coffee, 100% Decaf instead of 1/2 regular & 1/2 Decaf like I got on the way out and of course warmer up for the rest of the walk.
I checked for a later update version of the video capture software and that seems to be working better. So now to get going on the captures and then the editing and conversion to DVD. No Sense going to BluRay as the source is VHS.
Have a Great Thursday

Hi Joanne
I can live with Bland easier than with too hot. I have 3 of the Beef & Broccoli on my upcoming order, Now I have to decide if I want to adjust that quantity. I also ordered several of the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Frozen dinners, have You tried them yet? I have one more Chicken & Roasted Vegetables to use up and then I will not be reordering it. Too Hot and I did not care for the taste. I had high homes for that one when it was released too.
Is that the Stuffed Apple Pie reformulation in the new packaging? I ask as I loved the old one. The new one they did something to the dough that makes it not as good IMO.
OTOH I do like the new Fudge Bar better than the old one.
Have a Good Day

Vix-sorry you have a cold. Good luck at the rheumatologists.
Roger-I won't be ordering the chicken and roasted vegetables again. I didn't get to try the old version of the apple pie, so I can't compare them. I did think the crust was a little unusual. Have you tried the frozen pretzel? It was good and I could have eaten more than one.
Irene-I was getting bored of eating the same stuff, that's why I switched to the plan where I can get frozen and shelf stable foods.
Have a good evening.

good morning, well I got my final yesterday so it is just a matter of time I can appeal it but not sure if I am going to bother .Went for a nice walk this morning so I got some steps in already have 8223 steps in so I should meet my goal today. Good morning.
Sorry Irene. Sometimes it's good to have a new beginning.
Jo, it's nice that you're getting more variety. I know after a couple of years and weeding out the food I didn't like, there really wasn't that much variety. Although, I seem to end up eating a lot of the same things over and over when my choices are pretty open.
Roger, the weather's supposed to be pretty nice on the weekend.
My cold is very mild. The doc said it was ok for me to take zinc and echinacea, which usually knock it out for me when it's not severe.
Zumba class today, and I need to take my car in for oil change and tire rotation.
Enjoy the day, everyone.

Hi
I was walking again this morning + 13 Cents, One dime and three corroded pennies
It was 10 degrees colder outside than yesterday morning, however it was actually more comfortable with no wind chill today.
I walked over to the Quick Chek near the Auto repair shop we use and then looped a little further out before returning home. I dropped off a can of Caramel Corn my brother bought from a Boy Scouts Fund Raising drive and a Decent size box of Chocolate candy that was left over from Christmas as two Salt and Vinegar Snack-A-Rounds from NutriSystem than neither of us could eat due to the taste. The Candy is left over as we always have a couple of generic wrapped presents under the tree in case a visitor brings a present, that way we also have one. After a brief discussion we concurred that getting both of the temptations out of the house would be better for losing weight Why the Auto Repair Shop? They take good care of us and often do little things with no charge.
Much better weather forecast for the weekend, 50s by day and mid to upper 30s overnight, Yea!
Have a Great Friday

Hi Joanne
It was the difference in the crust that made the apple pie less tasty IMO. I wonder if they did it to make it more like a baked pie crust? If so they made it to bready if that makes sense.
Some People like pretzels with mustard, I always liked that type with salt. I did try a spritz of ICBINB and a touch of salt, However in the end I just order several and eat them plain
I am thinking of switching to a self created version of a mix of weekends on You own or Dinners on You own for a day or two each week to see how that works. Easy enough to do by adding selected A La Carte foods and delaying the order.
I know I need to loose a bit more, however I do see the light at the end of the tunnel now. My Doctor seems to think I am OK where I am, However the mirror says otherwise
To stave off boredom is why I started with the plan that had 10 days of frozen and 18 days of Shelf Stable foods when I signed up. I think that option is off the table now and it is either all SS or unlimited frozen. From what I can see the main reason for the frozen costing more is the extra shipping costs from the packaging to the extra warehouse and the occasional replacing of defrosted frozen defrosted in shipping.
Cheers

My Brother & I already have our taxes done as of last week. he was afraid he would pay, not so, a refund for both of us.
It was a better morning today to walk compared to yesterday IMO.
From the way it sounds as if Amazon is working to get rid of older, long term workers it makes me wonder if I really want to buy there.

Hi Vix
Good news that You can take what You usually take for a cold and even better news that the cold is very mild.
It sounds like You have a busy day.
I find that I like most of their selection well enough and have gone back and retried items I did not like and have added them into my selections. Many of those are Shelf Stable Entrees that I originally dumped off of my selection list.
I do still order certain Frozen things in quantity such as the Frozen pancakes, Waffles and The Delicious Cinnamon Rolls. In Lunches many of the Melts and the Grilled Chicken sandwich and the Hamburger Sandwich. They lend themselves to so many variations in taste that I can make several different sandwiches out of them, including with BBQ or Ketchup or Mayo or Thousand island Salad Dressing.
Have a Good Day

Good afternoon;
Irene-sorry to hear this. How long have you been with Amazon? Will they lay you off or just let you go? Will you be able to collect unemployment?
Roger-The plan I am on now gives you only 24 lunches and 24 dinners, so you can start to flex. I still get 28breakfasts and 28 snacks. I agree with you on the apple pie crust, tastes a little like bread. I also like my pretzels plain.
Vix-Hope you cold goes away quickly.

Acorn squash with chicken and vegetables on the menu for tonight.

good morning, Jo as of today I am with amazon 1 1/2 years. I think I am able to collect before amazon I worked with target for 7 years I always worked so I don't see a problem but if I have to I can always get another job just tired of all the stress this has been job has put me in well getting ready to go for my walk Vix take care of that cold . Roger it is going to hit 60 today so we can have an extra long walk0

Thanks, Irene, the cold is pretty much gone....zinc and echinacea work wonders for me.
Sorry about all the stress from your job. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend.

I'm seeing the doc again on Thursday...I'll straighten it out then unless it gets much worse sooner. I feel like I am always experimenting with myself. Some day will figure out the magic formula.
Looks like it's going to be a nice warm day. Have the usual things to do around the house, errands to run. May go to a friends house tonight, I think it's poker night for the men.
Enjoy the weekend!0 -
Hi
It was around 20 degrees warmer outside when I left the house to walk + 1 Cent. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice too. The Sun is shining and most of the snow has melted.
One more week to make changes to my upcoming order before it closes to changes at 6PM next Sunday the 28th.

I do suggest being cautious with that computer, When I was working I had a customer that had his identity stolen when his computer got infected with a R.A.T. and suddenly he saw things opening and closing that he was not doing. That was when they got a copy of his tax return.
You have been busy with the car and shoppingGood morning.
Thanks, Irene, the cold is pretty much gone....zinc and echinacea work wonders for me.
Sorry about all the stress from your job. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend.
New pain med is causing me to puff up....up 4 pounds since my low weight on Thursday morning. But my neck is feeling a little better.
Enjoy the weekend!
It is good that You know what does work for You when You catch a cold.
Some medicines do seem to cause a weight gain, OTOH when You stop them it should fall off quickly. Sadly there does not seem to be a magic formula
I hope You had a nice evening.

Hi Irene
I was out the door at 7:25AM and in the door at 9AM, I covered a extra distance on my route but the steps are still running lower than I expected at 7.4K
I liked the weather I dropped a Sweatshirt off of what I usually wear which is a sweatshirt & Hoodie. Then I went from the mittens to gloves too.
I like that way of saying it "Has been job"
Good Luck handling the stress
