Hi Quick check before I head for the teeth cleaning adventure- its cold here and the idea of the drive stinks as I need gas- LOL I know I should have gassed up yesterday when it was warmer.
Anyway, Not sure when I'll be back but I promise to track.
Have a wonderful evening dear ladies- Janet cant wait to hear out the new recipe tastes- send me a sample - Just kidding.

Good afternoon, ladies. One more day of subbing. Tomorrow is the kids' Valentine parties. Wish me luck!! They have enjoyed the Valentine facts math problems. It is something different for them to do plus they are still doing math.0

Cindy, hope it goes well at the dentist. I know how much you dislike it. I am hoping things will start looking up here soon. It appears my credit card was hacked in NC. Found out when my card was rejected at the grocery. On the phone for about 45 minutes and now have to wait 5-7 days to get a new card. They will take the charges off but it is just a hassle and makes me mad. This is the second time in about 6 months that this has happened. Supposedly the new cards have better chip technology to protect them. So my gut is in an uproar and I am trying hard to not let this last bit blow me out of the water. And did I tell you that 2 out of our 3 vehicles are not running right and Edd doesn't have the time right now or the space to work on them. Hoping he gets at least one of them fixed by next week.
On a happier note. Edd was so sweet and took me to the grocery so I didn't have to deal with the snow in the parking lot or the cold. Love being dropped off and picked up at the door. All Mom needed was some milk but I saw the prettiest coral daisies so just had to buy them for her. She was so surprised and I know she will enjoy them. Edd cleaned her car while I went in to give them to her. She had a surprise for me as well. Aldi's has the best egg noodles we have ever tasted but they don't have them all the time and they sell out quickly. She bought me 2 bags when she was there last week. Plus she had a big bowl of ham and navy beans for me. Just love being able to do these small things with her and for her. Need to let that set the tone for the rest of this week.
Janet, I am going to try the spaghetti squash again. I have not liked it in the past but maybe I just need a better recipe. Do let us know how it turns out.

Hey ladies, long day at the office and I am quite pooped.
Suzi- You are too kind with your compliments, but I will graciously accept them. My body is finally letting go of some weight again. I could not believe the difference in you my dear!! You were relaxed and so happy! I had a ball. You sister/cousin is awesome and I adore Jodi. I will drop by and pick up my package after you leave as she may be distraught at first.
Patti- so sorry tragedy keeps striking you, cars and credit cards. Your mother is definitely a beaming light.
Cont0 -
Bert- what age or grade are you subbing?
Cindy- I know Rick will enjoy his alone time basking in your loving arms. Please rest your mind and watch old movies and cuddle up!
Jeannette- Our men do one us dearly and are protective. He doesn't want you to run down. On the flip side, there is nothing stronger than a mothers love and time spent together is prescious. I hope it all works out, for the best for all.
Janet- Like Patti, I just can't put my mind around the spaghetti squash as pasta. I just rather have the real thing and eat less of it. You do always make it soun so good though. How are you kitties? Did your housekeeper come today?

Hi ladies, another crazy day around here. Work won't ease up in the stress department anytime soon. I work in human subjects research as a regulatory analyst, and we are up for reaccreditation with the accrediting body for human research protection programs (HRPP). It's a BIG deal in the world of research, and our site visit is the end of next month. Over 100 people at our institution, from people like me, to investigators, to anyone else to has any involvement in our HRPP can be interviewed. I found out yesterday that I'll be interviewed. So it's been a little intense. We are used to site visits, because we have the FDA and other regulatory bodies in on a regular basis, but it's always stressful, lol.
Anywho, that's my work stress but I'm staying on track and not stress eating, so that's a big win!
Hopefully I'll be back later for personal comments after my workout0 -
MaryLynn- gorgeous picture! keep them coming….. now i have visit vancouver island on my bucket list i can just see the lot of us on monty python, LOL.
Karla- SO sorry to hear about your fall! I hope it did not interfere with any mardi gras festivities! HAHA to eyebrow art great pic of you and Suzi! (i can’t see anything wrong with either eyebrow, it must be cleverly disguised) congrats on the pounds lost, in spite of it all! i’m glad you brought breakfast back into your life. I know a lot of people do fine without that morning meal, but i’m not one of them!
Bert- keep up the great work! i think you are doing fantastic with recovery! valentine math sounds fun, but good luck with those parties! i used to dread them when i taught preschool, hehe.
Cindy- yes, you ARE in the business of communicating i’m glad you enjoy it so much! I live in Raleigh, NC. I’ve been in this area for almost 23 years now. I agree with not worrying about the calcium. my mom ended up with a kidney stone (ouch) best of luck at the dentist!
Diane- 4:30am! yikes. that’s the middle of the night! i’m with you, i don’t like dvd’s, but sometimes they are a necessary evil thanks for the nike-fit app idea. i might try that, given my shoulder is now hurting from what i did on my own. grrr. my yoga teacher instructs us to “glide walk”, which sounds very similar to the “heel-toe-push” you describe. i got a chuckle out of your Pastor giving up watermelon for Lent;) i applaud your adding vegetables daily. i sure wish i liked them more…. i’m learning to though. last year i learned to like brussel sprouts, and now i eat them frequently.
Janet- good for you on the good food days! yay! i’m yo-yoing, but that’s actually above par for me right now. baby steps. I’m sorry to hear that your posture has suffered from hunching, but i’m glad you are working on it now. knee, foot and back surgeries…. yikes, you’ve been through the wringer! no pizza privilege on your birthday is just wrong, IMHO!
Jeanette- I’m so glad the custody hearing went so well! mediation is so much better than a court hearing (and less expensive too). happy to hear you are also feeling better. good sleep is a wonderful thing! congrats on “winning” the dinner party Saturday Just don’t be shy asking for help if you start feeling worn out. I’m sure they would be more than happy to, but might not think of it themselves (or is that just MY adult children, lol) thank you so much for reaching out…. it made me cry when i read earlier today that i’m in your thoughts and prayers… i’ve been crying on/off all day, so it’s not been one of my better ones. I thought i was doing better yesterday, but today hit me like a ton of bricks. such is life.
Vikki- wonderful report from your new Dr! good for you! I hope the new endocrinologist is also helpful for you. thanks for your story about the disabled woman you saw at the gym. she does sound inspiring, and very sweet of you to pray for her.
Patti- I’m so sorry to hear the news about your Yaya. it sounds like they caught it so very early, and the prognosis sounds good, but it’s still a frightening experience to go through. credit card fraud seems to be rampant what a pain in the butt. i went through the same thing a few months ago and that was WITH the new chip! i blame my husband’s online shopping car trouble too? (((Patti))) I’m glad you have a sweetheart of a husband in Edd!
Suzi- sounds like you are having a much needed wonderful time away from it all. Enjoy!
Beth- WOW, you are doing so awesome not eating that stress! keep rocking it! best of luck with that interview and the whole reaccreditation thing.
TT: I don’t give anything up for Lent either. I have primarily attended Presbyterian churches when i did attend church, but i learned a LOT about the liturgical year when i married the first time, to an Episcopal. haha. (he’s recently become a presbyterian minister, but that’s all i have to say about that, hehe)
to be honest, i don’t like sharing about myself when i’m struggling, but Jeanette’s sweet comment prompted me to respond. I just don’t like the idea of being a “downer” in the posts. i’m probably just being too self-conscious. (but i’ve actually been referred to as “debbie downer” in the past…. and that was to my face!) this too shall pass.
tomorrow is fabulous Friday, all four of my kids are relatively healthy, and i am loved.
goodnight OMG ladies!

Myra, this group is a safe place for us all, so if you are so moved, you are welcome to share without feara of judgment. I know this for a fact.
Cindy, hope the cleaning was relatively easy. Be safe on the road and enjoy the scenery.
Karla, I envy your ability to limit portions of things like pasta -- cooking for one makes it more tempting to "accidentally" cook too much pasta. Of course I'd rather have pasta than spaghetti squash but we each have tradeoffs we're willing -- and unwilling -- to make and must personalize a plan that works for each of us. And you, my dear, are having tremendous success. And yes, my cleaner did come today.
Beth, I know just enough to be boggled by the amount of stress you are under at work. Are you at a university center? Important stuff. The new picture is adorable. You are beautiful and the kids look like two big rays of sunshine.
Bert, enjoy your last day subbing. Were you able to rest your body enough not to leave in pain?
Patti, hooray for time with your mom. And for Edd. Fingers crossed for car troubles to be history soon.
Ate well today and just closed my diary. Four in a row; it's a start.
See you all tomorrow -- crawling in early tonight.

thank you for that, Janet. and congrats on 4 in a row it's a great start!0

Hello all - another late check in. It seems like the check-in I did last night disappeared though! Not sure what happened.
Today was another busy day at work - I skipped my gym time because I had so much to get done, and a gym buddy was retiring today and I wanted to go to the ceremony. So meetings starting at 5:45, straight through until 12:15, a two hour break and then meetings again until 5 pm. Whew! Most of them telcons, but those wear me out almost more because I have to concentrate much harder.
The retirement ceremony was quite moving. If you ever have a chance to go to a military retirement ceremony, take the chance! Lots of pomp and circumstance, Navy band, sideboys piping the VIPs aboard and ashore, flags, etc. This woman has been active duty, then reserve, then active duty again, for 28 years. Her husband retired as a Navy Commander, she was retiring as a Navy Captain, her oldest son is an Army Captain deployed to Afghanistan, her youngest son is a Navy Ensign in flight school. For the last 6 years she has been in charge of a program that deploys language specialists to Pakistan and Afghanistan. One really special thing about this ceremony is they video skyped with both some sailors under her command in Pakistan, and her son in Afghanistan! They were on a big screen right by the podium. Pretty special. And her youngest son was part of the ceremonial guard.
Lots of the gym buddies were there, and in her remarks she gave a special shout out to the 0500 gym club and the locker room ladies! Then she had to explain who that was .
So, a very nice break in my hectic day. And at the reception I limited myself to four bite-sized appetizers, and a plateful of raw veggies with no dip! But then I had a yogurt when I got home, Chicken Parmesan from Cooking Light for dinner, and a snickers when I went out to get gas! Would have been within calories for the day if I could have just avoided the Snickers.
I did get my four veggies in today, and my nice thing was attending my friend's ceremony to show her support.
Sorry for no personals again. Got to get to bed. Tomorrow I WILL hit the gym, but my favorite gym buddy won't be there .0 -
Janet, you're very kind! My kiddos are so happy. The best stress relief Oh, and yes, I work at a large University and Health System. My university has five institutional review boards, and I work for the largest of the five, the biomedical board. All FDA regulated research comes through our office at the University. It's busy!
Patti, I recently had credit card fraud too. It's so distressing when it happens. Sorry you had to go through that again! And for the car trouble!
Myra, I know I'm new here, but...I do hope you'll share if you want, or just seek encouragement. You all have been so welcoming of me, I'm positive no one would be anything but supportive.
I lost half of my post when my cell phone screen rotated so maybe it's time to go to bed. Ha!

Have a very restful night all you busy and active ladies. You deserve it! Sleep well and catch you tomorrow.
Hugs,
MaryLynn0 -
Good Morning Ladies.....it's VERY cold this morning. It's my last day of subbing!
KARLA: I'm teaching 4th, 5th, and 6th grade math. That's what I taught before I retired, so it's right up my alley. Actually, I'm only subbing out of my friendship with my former principal. I know that subs are hard to find, especially those who are comfortable with math.
MYRA: Party days are very trying. Students are so excited the entire day! I'll probably get in more steps today! Yesterday was 8,900!
JANET: My back feels great! I only have to take Tylenol now at night. My knees are another story......I forgot how hard it is to stand on a concrete floor! They have been throbbing for the past couple of days!
Have a great day everyone!
Bert0 -
Diane- The retirement cermony sounds absolutely captivating and well rounded. Bringing in her family and gym family was extra personal and usage of Skype technology superb! I love all the military detail and pompous and there is NOTHING more handsome than a man in an uniform. I know it meant a lot to you, and your friend, to be there. I think you did fabulous on your food choices.
Marylynn- You are always rocking the activity world my friend. I have been sleeping really well with all the stepping I have been doing! I am over my injuries pretty much and got my 10k yesterday. Yeaaa.
Beth- I think the phones is where we lose the posts the most. I'm wondering if I was not hitting the "done" first? Your boys sure are close. You are so right, we are all here to see and there is no such thing as too much whining!!! We all go through up's and down's in life. I'd like for everyone to feel this is a safe haven to open up. We are some wise ladies here.
I need to finish getting some payments posting, claims resubmitted and then I am meeting Jodi at Starbucks for a cup and pick up my goodies from World Market I left in her car.
Back later,
Karla0 -
A quick good morning before I venture out.
Beth, if you live anywhere near a certain Big House (which is deeply revered in my family), we should have coffee next time I get up there to visit friends and family.
Karla, take care of your eye and enjoy more time with Jodi.
Cindy, enjoy Newport!
Diane, you brought tears to my eyes with the description of your friend's retirement ceremony.
(The day I "retired" - granted, from a company I'd been with for just under three years - my colleagues had to explain to my boss that Quizno's was NOT the appropriate for my send-off lunch. They shamed him into lunch at a nice place by making the reservation for him (it wasn't his own money anyway -- he's just a creep) and told me we should all order whatever we wanted and when we left we all laughed our heads off.
Didn't get to sleep until after 3:45, was awake from 6-7:45 and got up at 8. Something tells me after I run my errands (leaving soon) there might be a nap this afternoon. I had horrible intestinal cramps all night, for no apparent reason. Just one of those weird things and right now I feel far better than I have a right to. the day will unfold as it is meant to.
TGIF -- let's all have a great day and an excellent weekend in every way that matters, and even some that don't.0 -
Hello from my frigid world. I am staying in for the rest of this week. Plan to not go out until Monday. If I could hibernate in the winter that is what I would do. I will never be a snowbird and leave for the winter because I don't want to be away from my family and friends for that long. So I stay in as long as I am left alone. I have given myself this week off from the gym because of car problems and head issues. I will no doubt pay the price on Monday but I have found over the past few years that when I do take a short break I go back with renewed enthusiasm. I am going to do some long overdue house work. Did I tell you I am a horrible housekeeper? Well now it's out there, my house is not dirty just messy. I can clean up when needed. So I try to schedule parties or dinners on a semi regular basis to force my hand, lol.
Myra, if you need to vent or let it all out, this is the place to do it. Being a "Debbie Downer" happens to us all sometimes but at least here we understand and don't judge. Did you feel my wave as we came thru town on Monday?
Beth, love the new profile pic of you and your kids. What happy smiles. Your job sounds intense and interesting. I can only imagine how stressful those interviews will be. I worked in health care for 35 years and just the mention of JCAOH visits sent the hospital into a tizzy. You are doing a bang up job not eating that stress.
Janet, sorry your tummy interrupted your precious sleep. I know how you struggle with it. Hope you get your nap. I know you are loving this weather but be safe out there.
Diane, what a lovely picture you painted of the retirement ceremony for your dear friend. I love pomp and circumstance. It just makes it feel like their service truly mattered. So wonderful to have her children overseas be a part of such a special occasion. You did great with the food. Sorry about the snickers attack at the gas station. That is what worries me most about going inside to pay, instead of using the card reader at the pump.
Karla, sounds like you really healed quickly will little ill-effect from your fall. Maybe just the thought of time with Suzi and her family made you heal faster than normal. Good job on consistently getting your steps in.
Bert, your recovery sounds amazing. You have really bounced back quickly but I think you had the best attitude going into the surgery and that is a huge part of recovery. There is nothing worse in the world for your knees and legs than walking on concrete. It is so unforgiving. When I remodeled my kitchen I looked at ceramic tile for the flooring, so many beautiful styles and so easy to clean, but my knees remembered all the years of walking on concrete and that idea was nixed. I put in hardwood and have never regretted it. Warm in the winter, cool in the summer and oh so comfy to walk on.
Well, just got a call from Edd. He is delivering phone books in a small town about 30 minutes from here. He took the van, which you all know has not been acting right, and it locked up on him. Evidently the water pump went out on it. We are very fortunate that our best friend and co-owner of our river property is a mechanic and owns his own shop. He is on his way with a trailer to pick him up. He will have to come get his truck and transfer the 700+ phone books into it so he can get them delivered today. At least I will have a car to drive next week, yeah. Such is life. I am grateful it was not me driving when it quit and that we have such a wonderful friend to help us out.
Need to get a move on.
Patti

Good morning! I hope you are all having a good start to your weekend. It is raining here again; nothing new but we got a few days reprieve from it with temperatures in the high 50’s. I think we got one day of frost, but other than that it is pretty mild, even for here. Sure hope it doesn’t mean more bugs this year!
Patti – you mentioned Pinwheels. That brings back memories of my Grandma. She always had them when we went to visit her; it was the only time we got them. I sure loved those cookies. Sorry for the troubles with the credit card. It is getting hard, I think, to keep them safe. Sounds like a good plan to hunker down inside for a while. I’ll tell you I am not a good housekeeper either; and with the illness I have had to ask for help a LOT because it just isn’t a priority for me. We used to do like you and plan on company every once in a while to keep ourselves up on it.
Beth – Now I see your new picture. I love the smiles on all of your faces; so precious! Sounds nerve wracking knowing you will be one of the interviewees. I’m sure you will do wonderfully well.
Myra – I’m glad my note encouraged you. I know what it is like to disappear and I didn’t want that to happen to you…you are on my mind and in my prayers. You are important to us here, and to those around you.
Diane – Thanks for sharing the retirement ceremony with us. Sounds like a wonderful job of sending your friend off. And you did well on your day. Here in Oregon it is illegal to pump your own gas! We still have some stations where you have to pay inside, but many of them you pay the attendant at the pump.
Janet – Sounds like a bummer for your retirement party, glad your coworkers made it right. I have sleep issues too. I haven’t slept all through the night since….I just don’t know when. I’m glad you’re feeling better than you should for how little sleep you got; take advantage of it!
Karla – Yes, with all that my husband has had to deal with over the past many years I can’t say I blame him for not wanting me to overdo it. I suppose I worded it to sound like I was upset when in fact I was trying to sound more “tongue in cheek” about it. In any case, they will all be here for a while tomorrow so it will be a good birthday for him. He is much more social than I am and I knew he was just trying to make it easier for me.
I did a Leslie Sansone video for the first time yesterday, it wasn’t too bad; a nice easy, short workout. I’m going to try a short work out again today, though I am a bit tired from not sleeping well last night. I am really fighting my natural impulse to just jump back in full throttle; I need to ease in slowly and carefully so I don’t end back up where I was. But I also really really really want to be done with this and I suspect the extra weight is part of my problem; kind of a catch 22….but I’ll keep plugging away at it.
Grace and peace to you
Jeanette

Janet! I live in Brighton but work in Ann Arbor for U of M, and BLEED maize and blue! I'd love to meet for coffee when you're in town...as you might tell from my screen name, I love coffee! hope you're feeling better now!
Patti, sorry about yet more car trouble, but I'm glad you have a friend who is a mechanic and so willing to help out! Oh, and absolutely, site visitors from all regulatory bodies are stressful...we get global emails when site visitors are anywhere on the campus/health system property. Sort of a fyi, what you need to know, and reminders of the things we always do but you know how it is when you're asked a question point blank...cue the studdering. Sigh. Lol.
Jeanette, I have some of the Leslie Sansone walking dvds too...I should pull them out more. I'm jealous of your temps...it's been cold here this week! Thanks for vote of confidence!
I have to tell you guys that I managed to stay on track eating Indian food for lunch, and tracking 1 piece of pizza for dinner. A little higher than my normal caloric intake but technically below my goal. Phew. Tonight's plan is Just Dance on the Wii with my kids. They love it.0 -
Well done, Beth! I grew up in Toledo. My brother and one niece live in SE Michigan. Had a hunch on the coffee thing -- me too. The Brighton/Howell re is a great place to live -- have good friends there.
Patti, thank heaven for your friend. Glad Edd is safe and will get the deliveries done while you stay warm and safe at home.
I don't have anyone close to me local but am slowly (and in fits and starts) getting m possessions weeded out and organized. Went to Nordstrom Rack today and found a beautiful ivory silk blouse for 25% off the already-low clearance price. It's a classic style I'll have forever. Trader Joe's is in the same plaza so I buzzed through there too. Staying in this weekend here too - was plannng to venture out tomorrow but decided serious recharging is in order. No nap but black coffee and a Diet Coke have helped. The intestinal cramps seem to have stopped. Just a weird, random thing. No alarm tomorrow. Much to do but will let myself sleep when my body chooses.
I have snacked but tracked (still no candy or pretzels, at least -- but had to grab a protein bar for breakfast and PB crackers and a small banana for lunch). I should still be able to stay within my limit. My current plan is to allow myself up to three 1,200 calorie days a week and see how that goes when I do a scale hop.

Hello all! It’s Friday, of a long weekend! Yay!
Eating was good today except for one overindulgence. Even with that I am only slightly above my calories for the day. All is tracked and I will try to do better tomorrow. Had my annual mammo today - ugh. I think that is what led to the overindulgence.
My weekend is going to be fun. We are having the baby shower on Tuesday, and I have all sorts of ideas for decorations and food that I need to put together. I haven’t done crafty things in a while, so this will be a fun weekend.
Patti, so sorry about the van/car trouble AND the credit card trouble. When it rains it pours, it seems. It is cold here too. I have to go out tomorrow morning to get supplies, but then I don’t think I’ll budge most of the weekend!
Karla, you are on a roll! Great losses, week after week. Wish I could say the same. I actually gained back the 1.5 I had lost . I think I’ll take my measurements tomorrow and see if that gets me out of the doldrums.
Bert, I’m amazed you were up to teaching for a whole week, that is terrific. I really enjoy the upper elementary grades both teaching Sunday School and in scouts. How did the party go? My DIL teaches 2nd grade, and she said last night that the kids almost lost their party with their behavior this week. I know how hard those days are on teachers.
Janet, how did the spaghetti squash turn out? I’ve been using zoodles instead of pasta most of the time, and my whole family really enjoys it. Hope your night of sleep is better and your day tomorrow is restful to allow you to bounce back.
Beth, we just went through an inspection too – I didn’t have to be interviewed, but I know the management spent weeks getting everyone ready. And lots of people were very stressed about it. Hey, dancing with the kids is a great form of exercise!
Jeannette, sounds like a good outcome for your darling Alanna. I’ve always admired parents who are able to work together for the good of the child, regardless of their own relationship. I’m with you on the catch 22 – I’ve put back on about ½ the weight I lost, and as I’ve gained I’ve become less comfortable working out. Sigh.
Cindy, haven’t seen you check in. Hope you are having a great time in Newport, but a workmate was down from there today and said it was 7 when he left his house this morning! Brrr.
Lisa, thanks for all your encouragement on my wall.
Myra, I think Brussels sprouts are the new craze in vegetables. I’ve loved them since I was a child, but in the last year there have been so many yummy recipes showing up for them.
Vikki, hope your day has been a blessed one. Your story about the woman at the gym struck a chord. My sister had a stroke about a year ago, and she is so determined to do as much as she can by herself. I catch myself and hold back when I try to do too much for her, but I just slow down so she can walk at her pace and not feel like she is holding me back. So I would say if you see the young woman again, just treat her as not disabled, and speak to her in a friendly way like you would anyone else.
MaryLynn, hope your day is going well and you got to get outside today.
Suzi, your trip has sounded terrific. Glad you had the time to enjoy Mardi Gras.

Diane, haven't made the spaghetti squash dish yet but will let y'all know.
I am going to finish underwear drawerr organization tonight -- but when sleep beckons, I am conking! Hoping to get good, productive energy this weekend. Wish me luck!

Janet, always fun to have someone know the area! We are in Toledo quite frequently, because we have a zoo membership. My husband prefers the Toledo zoo over the Detroit zoo. Anyway, glad the GI cramps have subsided. Be well.
Diane, it's amazing how inspections create an air of tension! Have a great weekend with the baby shower and decorations!
Busy weekend here. My husband is working, and the kids and I are grocery shopping, stopping by a friend's house for her birthday, and getting a little gift from the kids to their dad for valentine's day since he's working and we can sneak it into the house.
Have a nice weekend, everyone!0 -
Good Morning, Ladies! It's sunny; however, VERY COLD. This morning will be devoted to preparing our worship service on Power Point, typing minutes for our church committee, and then working on my puzzle. At some point today, I'll deliver Valentine presents to my local grandchildren (Chicago grandchildren received on Wednesday). Tonight we are having dinner with friends at a local Italian restaurant.
Patti: My dad was a pharmacist and stood on concrete floors all his life. He had so much trouble with his feet.
Jeanette: Easing into exercise is what I'm doing also. My doctor told me that I could lift 20 lbs, but I'm not starting with that. Will ease into the 10 lb in each hand.
Beth: Dancing with your kids sounds like so much fun!
Janet: You are doing great!
Please pray for my former principal and friend. She has had uterine cancer and has been off and on chemo for the past 2 1/2 years. Her "numbers" keep rising and they are giving treatments to maintain. I feel so bad for her, and feel helpless as there isn't anything I can do. She is such a great friend.
Bert0 -
Good morning ladies and welcome to our Saturday. Our temps today will be 20 degrees lower for our high than yesterday. LOL. High of 73 yesterday, 53 today. I know many of you have been experiencing the same weather rotations. I have the fireplace on.
Patti- I meant to ask, why doesn't your credit card company telephone you and let you know your card has been terminated due to fraud instead of letting you find out while you are shopping? The times I have had it happen to me my Credit Union always called me, inquired if it was me, let me know not to use the card, and issued me a new one. I stopped carrying a Debit card because it seemed it was the culprit to be hit the most. My credit card hasn't been hit in several years now. So sorry!!! Please thank you sweet mother for me. You are so very blessed with her.
Jeanette- I purchased a new Leslie Sansone dvd the day before my fall. I feel good enough to try it today. Thanks for the reminder. I know you will be surrounded by love this weekend. Enjoy every minute!
Beth- I cannot wait for you to meet our Janet in person. She is the most elegant and sweetest lady she can be. So intelligent and witty!! You will adore her, as we all do. I love ro do the Wii dance with my gkids. Unfortunately my Wii is acting up and most of my games are not playing right.
Patti- Remember when we first started this journey and all we could do was the exercises on the Wii? We have come a long way baby!!
Janet- Three times a week hitting 1200 is about what I am doing too. I am finding a trend where I am only reaching 1000 a couple days because I get so busy I am eating a late lunch and making it small. Strange for me, but I am back on that TroKendri XR for the neuralgia and it takes your appetite away. My Internist nurse never did call me back. As it turns out, I feel fine.
Diane- Please take your measurement now. If nothing else, keep track of your waistline. Some centers have gone to just measuring the waistlines of both men and women. But if you want an overall body type, do them all. There is a place, the check-in, area to enter them here on MFP too. I have lost 11 inches since 1-4. You are doing great. Please, please take pics of your cookies and decor for the shower. I absolutely love your ideas.
Vikki= My bestfriend of 40 years was in a wheelchair. A tree fell on her when she was 14. I met her when she was 16, and I was 14. We went through our whole lives together. She was my heart and soul. She always said I treated her like a normal person and allowed her to feel and do things that no one else did. Oh could I write some stories! We were room mates in college,, went through boyfriends, husbands,, our kids...life!! She came down for my second marriage in 2005...tragically she came for her last visit to me in 2010..got sick..went into the hospital while down here, she lived in Wisconsin, and passed away. Tore a piece of my heart out to this day. Everyone told me, she knew who she wanted to be with. Gosh, sorry for the story, but it's been in my mind since I read your post. I always want people to treat the physically challenged person normally. The best thing that can ever happen to you is to experience a friend like this. Gosh I miss her. I am still close to her two sons.
Whewww, a leap back in memory lane!!
I get my two stitches out today, pick Izzy up and then we may go look at new vehicles.
Have a great and wonderful weekend all.

Temp in the single digits for the weekend, so I am in for the duration. I have my crafting space ready to work on the invitations and may even work on some other projects. So much I want to see on Netflix to go along with my crafting. I am also doing some cleaning chores to break it up a bit. Well that is the plan anyway. Edd is off delivering phone books. I think I may have some painting jobs to do come spring. I have been missing painting so much that I was thinking about redoing my living room. My GFs granddaughter wants me to do her entire house, except the kitchen. It is a two story and I think it has 4 bedrooms, family room, dining room and 2 baths. Should keep me busy for a couple of weeks. By GF wants me to paint something at her house too.
Beth, have fun shopping with the kids. I used to love getting those little gifts for my parents on special holidays. Actually I started crafting early and used to make a lot of my gifts. Not that they were great but I have always loved creating.
Janet, I can't wait to get this weight off so I can shop like you do. I just can't make myself buy anything right now and as a result I have almost nothing that fits. Keep hoping that will spur me to stay on track. You are my fashion icon. Like I have said before, you remind me of Audrey Hepburn with your style, grace and eloquence. Stay in and stay warm, no matter how much you love this weather!
Karla, will pass along your thanks to Mom. There is nothing she enjoys more than getting and giving cards. What new Leslie did you get? When I called the credit card company they had an incorrect phone number for my account. They did try to call, the number was disconnected. I only use my debit card at internal registers. The skimmers are not able to be put into these. It's the outside pumps that are easy targets and they are virtually undetectable.
Diane, I just keep thinking about the clock ticking toward your retirement and how much fun you and John are going to have in your RV. The adjustment from full time work to full time retirement takes a bit of time but I know you will embrace it. Just not having to get up at the crack of dawn will seem like heaven I would imagine.
Jeanette, what a lovely birthday celebration you have planned. It is so sweet how protective your husband is, but sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. Having the family there is a present you are giving yourself. Will pray your energy flows and there are no harsh after effects.
Cindy, I know it is frigid in New England, hope your love is keeping you warm and you are totally decompressing from your stressful week.
Waving a big hello to Myra, Mary Lynn, Suzi,Bert and Vikki.....I think that is everyone, if not I apologize.

Good morning! Sounds like some of you are buried in snow still!
I am not a morning person, it takes me a good long while to get awake in the morning (I do not drink coffee, so no help there). Hubby IS a morning person so he is always up before me. It took me a good hour or more of being up before it even registered in my brain to say "Happy Birthday" to him ....poor guy.
Have any of you ever tried Florentine cookies? I've never had them but saw them on "The Great British Bake-off" (thanks to Netflix) and am thinking I'd like to try them. I found a recipe that would only need a couple small tweaks for me to be able to eat them so told hubby I'd like to have them for my birthday (which is a ways off) He said fine, but we'd have to experiment ahead of time! HA...that man and I both have a terrible sweet tooth and seem to find ways to get in trouble together on that front. Ever since he was diagnosed pre-diabetic, though, I've been pretty strict with him. Got to do what I can to keep him around as long as possible, right?
Well my day is going to be filled with cleaning and school work. Hubby will help a lot with dinner as he enjoys cooking quite a bit. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, see you on Monday
Grace and peace to you

Bert, I will surely be praying for your former principal/friend. So sorry to hear of her cancer struggles.
Karla, thank you- very excited to have another UofM fan in my midst, so meeting up with Janet sometime would be great! oh, and I think my son would flip out if our Wii quit working! He does have limits placed on his time spent on it but I don't count family time doing Just Dance, or the Wii Sports or anything like that! Have fun looking for a car...I'm in the market soon, too.
Patti, I love crafting too! I'm getting my fix via making decorations for my sister's bridal shower and wedding this year. Fun!
Jeanette, I've never tried Florentine cookies...I'll have to look up a recipe. I love to bake but it gets me in trouble because someone has to eat it! happy b day to your hubby!
Vikki, meant to add that I love your heart. Always have, friend. I think we are heading to TN this summer, so if we do, we need to meet for coffee.
Well off to get more things acomplished.0 -
Bert, praying for your friend.
Beth, the Toledo Zoo is just plain wonderful. As is the art museum.
Karla, thank you for the kind words -- back atcha! We miss our loved ones who have moved on in different ways and degrees at different times. She's probably very near you as you think of her. I cannot imagine Not Being Hungry -- the thyroid meds aren't helping my cause but if I can stay within 1,200 tomorrow, I will have a full week string for the first time in a couple of months. You are doing SO well these days and we are all thrilled. And you are brave enough to take measurements! My yardstick is how clothes fit because I'm allergic to the actual numbers.
(The waist measurement thing bothers me as a universal metric because of different body shapes -- it was one reason I refused to do "biometrics" at my former company. NO one's employer, in my view, has the right to take your blood, measure your waist and weight, etc., and I took a $25 pay cut each pay period to preserve my privacy from Big Data and employer prying. I was there to WORK and none of those things had a blasted thing to do with how I did my job.)
Patti, please treat yourself to at least one new item of clothing -- great clearance sales, and your unhappiness with your current wardrobe can't be helping. Even a brightly-colored -- and warm, given our weather -- clearance fleece, sweater or dress you can dance in might give you a boost and you can always layer under it next winter when it's a big large. You really do NOT look as big as you seem to think you are.
Jeanette, florentines are SO yummy. I'm sure you're making your husband's birthday very special.
Ran out early today in the cold (wind chill below zero) and again to take a load of household items to Goodwill. We're due for 2-4" of snow tomorrow into Monday so I am prepped to stay in and as warm as I can and enjoy the beauty of it. No need to leave home until 2 PM Monday if I don't want to. Hoping to keep the decluttering momentum going -- and free up some cupboard space for certain things where they should live permanently.
Great -- hiccups! Hmmmm. Time for a bite to eat and then back to it.
Wishing you all a good Valentine's Day in advance.0 -
Hello all. I've had a busy day. I didn't track as I went but went back and tried to add everything in. I just can't seem to stay below 1200, which is probably why I am not losing!
I made a great dish for dinner tonight - Creamy chicken, Bacon and Spinach pasta. I'll post the recipe on the recipe thread. I need to tweak the recipe a bit for how I modified it (and some additional modifications I would make.)
I spent almost all day today working on decorations for the baby shower. I'm not an expert, but I think they are turning out really cute! I will post pictures from the shower, because I don't want to open up the tablecloths here and that will really finish it off.
Going to go collapse now - I'm exhausted!0 -
I'm home! More later - it's bedtime.0
