Sounds like you're doing well, Sabine. I'm so glad you're still around. Now maybe once Magic gets all settled in, we'll hear from her.
Today--breakfast and lunch are similar to yesterday, though no strawberries (they were so good, I finished them up quickly). Dinner--not sure yet, we may go out or order in.1 -
I'm here...doing crappy. Been in our home one month...Little Miss Ernestine and I love it here. Time for me to start eating like the south beach girl I am.
Sunday: eggs, v8, coffee
Snack: green smoothie
Lunch: Dave's killer bread and turkey
Snack: yogurt and sf jam
Dinner: salmon, herb salad balsamic dressing
Dessert: HC fudge, cantaloupe
Some things may change...but this is a start...way too hot to cook. Will use crock pot during the week...or air fryer. Last week, put on jeans that had not been fitting for a long time. Great feeling. Today, feel like a blimp. Sheesh. What happened.
I do know I am not in Phase one zone...head wise. Too much summer fruit I am interested in. I just need to add more veggies and less bread. Sunday will be a good day.0 -
Magic,
Welcome back. I'm glad you're settling in. Are you and LME enjoying your walking trails? I find, in this heat, that Daisy and I do our best walking early in the morning. Also, I got a collapsible cup for her so if we have to go out in the heat, I can give her some water along the way. It seems to make a difference.
Have you found any crockpot recipes that are SB-compatible? While I've loved our new Georgia home Oct.-May, I'm finding June (and I know July and August) weather intolerably hot. I feel like a slug. The last thing I want to do is cook, so we've been having frozen dinners (yuck) or ordering out. Not the healthy eating I want to be doing.
Today:
Br: V8, All-Bran Bran Buds, raisins, skim milk
Lu: spinach salad with hummus and clementine and blueberries and hardboiled egg, 2 ak mak crackers
Sn: pear/skim mozzarella stick, apple/yogurt
Di: mixed green salad, Bolthouse dressing, salmon with snap peas, Dave's 60-calorie bread, pistachios0 -
Off to walk LME...we are out the door by 5:30. Soon, we will shoot for 5:15. Mostly shade...sun is up but hidden by lots and lots of trees ...grass is wet as it has just been watered.
Will be back later.0 -

Glad you're back! I'm heading off for my summer work travel in THREE weeks, so I need to do some serious Phase 1 style eating!
BTW, to you both, I read the "new" DASH Diet Weightloss Solution" book, which is an update of the original DASH diet book. it's basically the south beach diet. Including the phases!0 -
Ok, back from walk...already have been to Walmart and Fry's Market...and done a few things in the house. Ernestine still has fluids injected into her back three times a week. We have NOT had a blood test for some time...think that is something I need to schedule this week to see where we are. She started out at 25 pounds...lost five when she was very sick...and still has not put them back on...but eats well, pees and poops and loves her walks. Gives kisses and plays in the house just like herself. (Creatine high was 6.0 Since she has been on the kidney support drops from petwellbeing.com her low was 3.2). It should be 1
I do have a situation where she does wee wee in her sleep. I now have a king size bed and pad her area a lot so that the spread and sheets are protected. But she must have gone off her "island" once...since I saw a bit of faint yellow on my new spread. I think I need to get to a baby store to get a waterproof pad for under the towels...that way, it's just the towels I have to wash.
I have to find a laundromat that will accommodate the king size bed spread...it's light weight of course (Jennifer Adams...wears like iron but so pretty, IMO). Due you realize how hard it is to find laundromats these days. Yowzers.
Ok, on to the diet. I probably need phase 1, but am going to pass. I love my little dave's killer bread sammies for lunch at work. And the summer fruit. I just have to watch portions and stop with the baked lays. Oh my
Also, I am going to make a chuck roast in the crock pot and skim all the fat out after it has cooked. Carrots and potatoes will be added, along with onions and celery. The meat, carrots and potatoes came to 12.37. I am spending a lot on Ernestine...and have to find ways to cut back on me. So I am becoming a smart shopper. The meat was marked down cuz it has to be sold by 6/20.
I know I am rambling but want to catch up with guys. I haven't owned a home since the early 80s. So this is huge for me. And especially for LME. She made it to the home I had promised her. It is all a dream still. Tomorrow will be 19 years that I was dx with bone cancer. Truly a miracle that both of us are still here.
I have 15 pounds to lose. 10 to get to my first goal. The last five will be to get into the very small clothes I want to wear. I think I can do it if I watch portions and stay away from nuts, cookies, chips and granola bars.
Ok, that's it for now. I love that we still post here. And yes, Sabine, it has been hot hot hot here. But I am a seasoned Arizonian ... I am home from shopping already, and if I shopped at Sam's instead of Costco, I would be done with that as well.
Here's to major success with your Phase 1 program. Silver, I love Dave's killer bread...and believe it is a great addition to my menu.
I need to find out what DASH is all about. Ok, that's it for now. Love you guys. Later, mates.0 -
