Good Afternoon ladies. I have been missing in action and it took me two days of some interruption to catch up.

Hope you feel better soon Suzy.

Susan, I watched the video and stopped after the talk about the pesticide and people not venturing outdoors after spraying it because of its toxicity. I saw a clip where girls did a study and took a hamburger from McDonald's and kept it for a couple of years and the bread disappeared but the burger did not decompose.

Snoozie:The cat pics are funny. lol I love pizza (The New York pizza) It is a funny story whenever I come home nothing is the same anymore so I have to try pizza from all of the stores to see which one is the closest to NJ/NY pizza from the past. Snoozie, the volunteer sounds so nice and rewarding. Too bad it is not a paying job.

I am in New Jersey, my oldest had my second grandson. I am up to 4, three boys and 1 girl.

I got the hang of it but now too big. lol

A close cousin of mines lost her husband, so while I was in Jersey I was able to give her support and attend the funeral. In fact, I am still here planning on going home Tuesday. So far no chest pain or shortness of breath. My appointment is June 21st.

Susan look like you were having a good time with your sisters drinking new Martini. What is the new martini?

Thankfully I'm not a big French fry fan....good thing! I'm actually not much of a potato fan, unless it's a sweet potato.

Ladies, I'm struggling! I'm in a vicious cycle of doing great, lose a couple pounds, fall off the wagon, gain it back, go way off then gain another couple.....then start over. It hit me this morning that I've been on this cycle for THREE YEARS now!!!! I know I can do it...heck, I've done it....but I just can't seem to get my act together. I'm going to be 56 in one week and I swore I was going to be at my goal by age 55. Ugh!!!!! Any tips on finding your motivation again? I should take a photo of me in a bikini and make 8x10 copies to put in the cupboards and fridge! That would be enough to scare me into starving myself!

I know there's no magical answer. If there was then we would have all found it by now. I appreciate having you ladies to "talk" to. It helps to know that I'm not alone in this frustrating journey.

Suzy - I have to say when I read your post, I did a double take because I swear I thought I had written it at first because that is me EXACTLY.. omg.. when I recently updated my weight and ticker AND my profile info... I realized I hit goal weight in 2014... and it has been 3 years since I regained 25 of the 60 lost and like you, I lose a couple, then back up. then lose a a few but I simply cannot seem to get into a cycle of actual losing and continuing the loss like I did when I first came here.. and I was shocked when I realized I had been .. regaining and then hanging at my current weight for three years!!!

That was what made me change my pic too to the split of when I started and when I hit my goal weight - as inspiration I suppose to remind me I CAN DO IT because I already did it .. I actually DID finally lose all the weight i'd been carrying for most of my adult life...

so i'm thinking now perhaps its simply that we (or at least me) may have simply lost a little faith in myself and my ability to do it... maybe its not so much about the eating and the portion sizes or worrying about this or that, but more about believing in myself or ourselves again.. and knowing that I CAN do it.. we don't have to worry anymore about IF we can.. that was the nightmare of the initial journey that brought me here. I already know I can..and as you said you already know it too... I think maybe we might have just stopped believing that.. and tht's what different this time...

so maybe we just need to focus on that.... get our heads and hearts back to KNOWING what we can do.. and not stress so much about the food and choices and portions and things... it will come once we start believing in ourselves again?

Thanks for sharing your post... really hit home with me and I agree its always so nice to know we can share and have the rest of us "get it" !!

Milove, what beautiful babies you have!! Sorry to hear about your cousin's husband. I know you are enjoying your trip.

Snoozie, hope the head cold is better. Mine has fallen down into my chest ,deeply, so it's not going anywhere soon . I hope your's has not taken that route.

Suzy, I am right with you and Snoozie on the gain and ungain yoyo...I have reset my ticker to reflect the weight I gained back and see no future in losing at the moment, but I am restructuring, so hopefully I will be back on the right track.. Best wishes to you , I know you can do it....WE can all do it...We've done it before.

Susan, I looked at the website for the Fish oil, haven't ordered yet. Thinking about the 2x kind.... Hope all is well with you.

We've got a little over 6 months to get this back on track before years end.... I want to see ONE-derland, I've got 20 lbs keeping me from it.......I Know I/WE CAN DO it!!

hey hatters... came off dayshift and had company staying for a few days.. was lovely having them but I have a WHOLE new appreciatation for all of you who have family visiting or extra bodies in the house or you're away visiting people.. it is near on IMPOSSIBLE to maintain any form of healthy eating when you're entertaining and eating out so much ... so just throwing out a kudos a little late for remembering all those trips and visits you all have made or had chez you!! well done!!

i'm gonna have to suck it up and get on the scale tomorrow to see what damage was done.. I can only hope the whole 7 days of dayshift I did really well will offset.. but by the tightness of my bod.. im thinking it could be ugly LOLOL

Yep, having visitors or visiting someone makes it next to impossible for me to stick to any kind of healthy eating plan. The most important thing is to get back on it as soon as possible.

Okay...birthday is over and it's time to get serious. I have 16 weeks to get in condition for our four day Appalachian Trail hike directly followed by a week's vacation in Maine/Boston. I am determined to do this. I have a family reunion trip in three weeks and a beach trip in six weeks. Those two trips will be difficult but I've got to not let them set me back. At this point it's not about how many pounds I want to lose (although I do have a number floating around in my mind) it's about building my strength and endurance. Now, to find my backbone so that I can stick to my plan!!!

    Suzy..

did I miss knowing it was your birthday ????????????? ackkkkkk so sorry... HAPPY BELATED!!

WHAT AN awesome motivator that Appalachian trail hike then the vacay in maine? woo hoo!! I have absolutely no doubt you will get there.. and I hear ya on it not being the # more the physical strength and endurance - you GO girl!! I know you can do it!!

I got on the scale this morning... not at all surprised to see the results but i'm not gonna reset my ticker because it will just show me losing when I wont really be til I get back to what its at now... which is about 4 lbs I think (I haven't looked at what my last recorded one was lol). (edited - so I checked and it's 4 lbs exactly more than my last recorded.. which means im exactly 30lbs from goal weight now.

but thts ok becaue I know once it does eventually show a loss it will be an actual one as such.. soooooo i'm back on track seriously this morning and ready to rock.. I sent home a lot of the leftovers of Chinese food and what not with my company in their cooler and tossed the bags of snackage this morning so just need to do a shop for some healthy stuff and do some meal planning .. and get my head out of my *kitten* and out of the snackage mode! I cant fit into any of my nice summer stuff ibought when I hit goal weight (30 lbs is what.. 3 sizes?? so not a chance I can get into any of it wahhhhhhhh. but it is what it is and no use wailing over it so onward and upward!

I slept a lot yesterday lol... but I needed it as my batteries were low so not gonna sweat it. I did get my walk in at the lake tho and am heading down early today to get it in as its gonna be super hot today - working a show at the living arts centre tonite so that will keep my face out of the fridge :)

Hope to hear everyone elses' progress and/or goals etc.... !!

Thank you Snoozie. Yep, turned 56 on Saturday. I was up exactly four pounds as well. Was down one of those today. I don't want to update my ticker either...people congratulate me on losing the same weight I've lost a thousand times and it makes me crazy. I'm just a bit down on myself right now because my goals at the beginning of the year have been blown. But I've got to put that behind me, modify my goals and move on.

Today is the start of a new week and a great time to start fresh!

Suzy - I totally hear ya on the bit of a down because of not hitting original goals - I was a little too.. but we absolutely have to just let it go.. it is what it is right here and now..so no point looking at the past we will just focus on the future and start fresh and remember that we did meet our goals before and we absolutely can d it again - and zackly like you said simply starting fresh and moving forward ... i'm 56 next month so I figure we're pretty much on par with where we are and where we WILL be

    Morning hatters!

Well I swear I burned off at least 1000 calories last night... okay maybe only 500 but it felt like 5000! Did a show at my volunteer thing; there are "only" 16 stairs in the theatre as such (it seats 1300) but each step is about 2 feet deep .... so you step down, walk 2 big steps then step down to the next... and I was up and down the entire flight about 100 times last night LOL... sooooooo many people came in late - even came in after the intermission which was 2 hrs into the show... grrrr!! plus so many going in and out and in and out during the show, and you can only reseat them between each number, not while there's something going on onstage. I was ready to punch them all out I ADMIT IT!! It was a long show and usually we get to sit fairly often during a show....but i was on my feet the whole time... so by the end of 4 hrs standing and practically running up and down the aisles (its dark in between numbers so you have to use your flashlight to run the people up and down the stairs to their seats before the next number starts - it was a dance show) ) my feet were killing me.. I practically hobbled to the car LOLOL.. my legs are still a little stiff this morning but I just kept thinking its ok think of the calories you're burning!! :D

I'm off today to take my senior friend on a little outing and out for lunch; I picked a pretty little café up in the area we will go as she doesn't eat much, and I eat light from the menu options.

hope everyone is doing ok - look forward to hearing what everyone is up to !

Wow! You should wear a Fitbit! I bet you had a ton of steps! Good for you! And I bet you did it all with a smile, regardless of how much your feet hurt! Have a wonderful lunch...you deserve a nice day out.

All my big words yesterday about it being a fresh start and I blew it last night! I'm in the middle of helping my (84 and 86 year old) parents redecorate their master bathroom. Last week was supervising the removal and then installation of a new tile floor...what an ordeal! This week is sealing the grout, picking paint and then painting. They live about 40 minutes away and I usually end up having to drive home in Atlanta rush hour traffic! Ugh!! Last night I caved in and picked up pizza on the way home. Oh well...put it behind me and do better today. I'm craving a huge salad and lots of veggies! That's a good sign, right?

Boy oh boy I sure can relate to the up and down on the scale lamenting. As far as recording the weight on MFP, I decided to go ahead and record it, and, as soon as the repeated loss is posted by MFP, I will just delete the post. I had been recording my weight on a different app for the very reason some of you mentioned, but I like having the whole record on MFP, so decided to just delete the postings of repeated loss.

I agree with your earlier post, Snooozie, about perhaps it has been a loss in faith. I believe that has been part of my issue because I noticed when I was losing weight in May in actually surprised me, like I hadn't thought I could do it any more. I'm starting up again as of yesterday, and I am going to remind myself daily that I CAN do it again. And I know we all CAN do it and ARE doing it!

So summer has arrived and I so miss being in the cooler temps on Mount Lemmon. It was so awesome up there and only a 30- 40 minute drive. On my last day, I took the dogs on a longer hike up the mountain, and although I had let the dogs have fun off leash on the other days, I had a funny feeling to keep them on leash that time. Well thank God I did, cause, on the way back, what should come thrashing through the foliage not too far from us but a bear....The dogs instantly and simultaneously lunged for it, but were restrained from their leashes. I shiver to think what would have happened if I had not kept them on their leashes! Needless to say, we high tailed it away from there as quickly as possible and all was well.

You Know You’re In Arizona When ….

You think Taco Bell is the local phone company.

You notice your car overheating before you drive it.

You no longer associate bridges or rivers with water.

You can hear the weather forecast of 115 degrees without flinching.

You can be in the snow, then drive for an hour...and it will be over 100 degrees.

You discover, in July it only takes two fingers to drive your car, because your steering wheel is so hot.

The best parking is determined by shade.....not distance.

You run your air conditioner in the middle of winter so you can use your fireplace.

You realize that "Valley Fever" isn't a disco dance.

You can make sun tea instantly.

Hotter water comes from the cold water tap than the hot one.

It's noon in July, kids are on summer vacation and yet all the streets are totally empty of both cars and people.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

Sunscreen is sold year round and kept right at the checkout counter.

You put on fresh sunscreen just to go check the mail box.

Some fools will market mini-misters for joggers and some other fools will actually buy them. Worse.....some fools actually try to jog.

You can pronounce Saguaro, Tempe, San Xavier, Canyon de Chelly, Mogollon Rim, and Cholla.

You can understand the reason for a town named "Why"

You can fry an egg on the hood of a car in the morning.

You know hot air balloons can't rise because the air temperature is hotter than the air inside the balloon.

No one would dream of putting vinyl inside a car.

You see two trees fighting over a dog.

You can say "Hohokam" and people don't think you're laughing funny.

You see more irrigation water on the street than there is in the Salt River

You have to go to a fake beach for some fake waves

You hear people say "but it's a dry heat!"

You buy salsa by the gallon.

Your Christmas decorations include sand and l00 paper bags.

You think a red light is merely a suggestion.

All of your out-of-state friends start to visit after October but clear out come the end of April.

You think someone driving wearing oven mitts is clever.

Most of the restaurants in town have the first name "El" or "Los."

You think 60 tons of crushed red rock makes a beautiful yard.

Your house is made of stucco and has a red clay tile roof.

Vehicles with open windows have the right-of-way in the summer.

Most homes have more firearms than people.

People who have black cars or black upholstery in their car are automatically assumed to be from out of-state or nuts.

You know better than to get into a car with leather seats if you're wearing shorts.

You can finish a Big Gulp in 10 minutes and go back for seconds.

You know a swamp cooler is not a happy hour drink.

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Arizona.

    You take rain dances seriously.

You've signed so many petitions to recall governors you can't remember the name of the incumbent.

When a rainy day puts you in a good mood.

When you drive two miles around a parking lot looking for a shady place - even in the dead of winter.

You feed your chickens ice cubes to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.

You "hug" a cactus only once in your lifetime.

When you have to look up "mass transit" in the dictionary.

    You wear a bola tie.

You take a stroll on Ho Hum Way.

The beer is chilled and filled with chili.

    A haboob happens.

    Petrified doesn't mean scared.

Standin' on the corner sounds good.

The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a bit chilly.

You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.

You would give anything to be able to splash cold water on your face.

You can attend any function wearing shorts and a tank top.

You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

"You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl."

    choking with laughter.......................

I was gonna say at the end of your post "but it's a dry heat, right Susan"???? (just because of you telling us years ago how many people say that to you!!!) but I see its already up there in the list too this time hahahahhaha

so glad you had a lovely trip.. cept for the freaken bear.. omg.. I might have actually RUN for the first time in decades if it had been me.. !!! love the pics - you look fab btw!

I honestly do think its the lack of faith in ourselves sometimes.. and very interested to hear your comment about how when you DID lose in may you were kinda surprised... I think its a big part of it for sure because I KNOW once it started to happen for me when I was heading for my goal, I truly DID believe for the first time in 30 years that I really could do it..

certainly soething to think about !!

had a nice day out with Betty; took her to a Scottish bakery (she's from Scotland) where she bought $50 worth of bridies and eccle tarts and a bunch of treats for herself :) then to lunch at a little café; we both had a grilled cheese with carmeliezed onions and she had a big honking piece of carrot cake for dessert LOL.. I did not :) but it was kinda good to see her eat a fair bit as she's usually not got much of an appetite these days. Anyway a fun time was had by all so now i'm home and catching up on tons of laundry I put off whiel my company was here :(

Suzy - we have to keep in mind it's not about "all or nothing " just about doing a little better each day right??
I bet you did a lot of good eating pre pizza that day - and as you said youre craving salad and veggies now so don't sweat the blip. besides on the plus side tomato sauce has lipitin which is good for us so see there was a positive in there!

Suzy- I misread who sent that pic and thought it was snooozie but now I see it was you so thanks for the laugh ! I don't think I'll be able to ever take the top bag of ice anymore , either, especially since that pic could very well have been taken here in AZ. It actually kind of reminded me of when I used to have a cat that liked to sit outside on the patio, but she would get so hot I would bring her inside and open the freezer door and hold her inside for a bit till she cooled off!
