IPOM I like that, let me see I bought mini cheesecakes for each of my 2 grandkids last eve and did not buy any for myself. My grandson did not like his and gave it to me I took a very small bite and put the rest in the refrigerator.

Snoozie your relax mode sounds wonderful and beautiful garden!

Ladies I did not make it to the doctor they were open but it was over in the East and I was afraid to drive and my husband was not favor of driving over the bridge because if they flood over there we might not be allowed back. So I canceled, and my next appointment is July 26th. Well, I feel do good so I am going to start back to gymnastics on Monday.

Suzy and Gail 250 minutes still is a lot looool

milove - im so sorry you didn't make it to the doc and have to wait another MONTH to see him!! But i'm also very glad to hear you're feeling so much better!! and absolute IPOM on the one bite - well done!!

Susan - I saw on our news today Arizona is in day 7 of worst heat on record... please check in when u can so we know you didn't melt into a susan puddle!

I went to a stretch class at the local rec centre today - I can't do yoga cause of my shoulder or anything where I have to bear weight on it, so the stretch class was good for me - first half was standing and the 2nd on the mat - they did toss in a few yoga poses (cat's cradle and childs pose) which I couldn't do, but the instructor showed me how to modify them to work the same muscles from a sitting position which I really appreciated! I also learned I absolutely need to start stretching more.. expecially my hamstrings and calves as I cannot even sit with my legs stretched out fully - I have to bend them. I knew everything was way too tight and what not but it was a bit of a wake up call ... they also did some balance and flexibility stretching so I will def be trying to take at least 1 or 2 classes a week ...

so that's my IPOM for today!

IPOM for hiking for six hours, 2,069 foot elevation gain, 27,000 steps, 10 miles to the summit of Blood Mountain and back! I am so exhausted right now that I can barely function! I really am proud of myself for reaching the summit! h5mftf8vmg8a.jpg

What a beautiful photo, Suzy. Congrats on the hike. Well done!!

Milove, can't blame you on forgoing the dr. visit. Glad you are feeling better!

Snoozie, Stretching class sounds great. Should be a great thing for you. Sounds like it would help with those shoulder issues you have. We all stay too tense. I know I'm like a wound up band about to pop.

My IPOM moment is I got up and put in some effort at straightening up my house while the kids were away instead of couch sitting and binge watching everything I have saved to the dvr. Instead I put on some Joe Bonnamasa and got busy....hubby helped a bunch too...So it was clean until the little one got there an pulled out all the toys....I didn't stress, I just made her put them back up when she was about to go to bed.. I think Mom didn't like me stopping her from going to bed until she picked them up.....but oh well...she'll get over it...I'm going to start asking her to pick up her cups and tea glasses before she goes off to bed also...it should be real FUN around my house!! LOL

Let's have an awesome week and do what it takes to get us all back on board the healthy train!

Gail - GOOD on ya for making the little one put her stuff away.. and I totally support your decision to ask mom to pick up her stuff too!! while you are gracious enough to be letting them live with you, it IS your place and the sooner you set down gail's rules the better.. nothing wrong with tht at all IMO!! and total congrats on the cleaning vs tv binge - I can totally relate! DEFINITELY an IPOM girl

My IPOM is that I got up at 8.. had a coffee.. and decided to get myself to a Zumba gold class at 9 !! I waited til almost 830 to decide.. and even then thot ok If I don't get there in time then I wont take it... (lolol) but I got there with 2 minutes to spare. it was actually really fun.. I totally sucked at the moves and I can't dance at all... but I was sweating like a pig by the end of it!! Atually about 10 min in I considered bailing - but I stuck it out. I hd to modify some of the arm movements for my shoulder but I did it.. so IPOM! and have to admit its a lot more fun than a gym!! now off to physio.. maybe they can fix the owies i'm feeling!! hahaha

I should have mentioned the "gold" version of Zumba I went to is for 50+ years old - it's supposed to be the "modified" version of the real one for us old folks.... i did ask one of the women there 1/2 way thru "this IS the modified one, right"??? She just laughed and said sadly yes it was lol

Way to go Gail and Snoozie!

Gail, making the little one (and the bigger one) clean up after themselves may cause a little tension at home but you are sooooo right to do it! Stick to your guns! Good for you for cleaning instead of vegging! I need to do more of the former and less of the latter!

Snoozie, I'm going to see if my YMCA offers the Zumba Gold. I love to dance but I can't keep up in the regular Zumba class. I feel like I'm always two steps behind everyone. I really really need to get back to yoga and barre classes. I'm going to do that when we get back home next week. No excuses this time.

IPOM today for eating a healthy salad with grilled shrimp for dinner instead of enchiladas! It was delicious, too! The main reason I opted for healthy food was that I went shopping for that larger swimsuit today and nothing looked any better than what I already have. So....the clothes/swimsuit shopping was a huge kick in the pants.

I've been to Zumba Gold (just one class) and yes, it was hard work - I wasn't convinced it was the modified one either - lol! I wasn't even 50 then! Unfortunately there isn't a class here at the moment - I think I would enjoy it as I like the music, and I'm finding the gym classes are just too hard for me now.

Hey there's a new option at the bottom for like/awesome/et.... its a "woo"..? I'm hoping its as in woo hoo as I used it that way on both your posts Suzy and Vail !!

Suzy - I'm invited to a pool party/bbq on our big Canada day celebration Sat - I know there isn't a chance I can get into any of my bathing suits but I do NOT want to buy a new one mainly more because of the thought of trying on bigger ones . soI feel for ya but also understand how the shopping was a kick in the pants! Maybe I should go and do the same to get that slap upside the head I need.... !

Total IPOM on the shrimp and salad option... I think that's also something I need to remind myself of - that there is SO much lovely healthy food that I love - I don't have to eat quinoa and celery sticks to get where I wanna be! kudos to you! I think my sister's zumba class is held at her YMCA.. or it could actually be at a local community centre. I cant remember ..

SO glad you questioned whether it was modified too Vail LOL.. and while I am so NOT a dancer, I not only have 2 left feet but I am simply the most uncoordinated person in the world (I nearly took out the person next to me in an aerobics class once by going the wrong way) I must admit the biggest appeal to me is that it is much more fun for e than a gym... and if nothing more its getting me moving my parts a bit.. even if it's only once a week its a start as I seem to be spending a lot of time being a couch potato ... so something is better than nothing is the way i'm looking at it... and who knows I may loosen up a bit with all the dance moves - I can't salsa my hips just can't figure out how but I did like the tango moves hahahahaha.... ya ok because it slowed down a bit for those!!

I have a short gig at the living arts centre this aft - a graduation ceremony for one of the secondary schools i think but its in the big theatre (seats 1300).. and i'm really hoping its just general admission seating (sit where ya want) rather than assigned seat numbers on the tickets... i am still a little fuzzy on the seat numbers and rows and i'm pretty sure i sent a few off in the wrong direction last time LOLOL..

no IPOM as yet but I've only been up 1/2 hour.. i'll find one for today tho !! Sending out big IPOU's to all of you guys too tho...

Yeah, I have no gift of movement....not coordinated anyway...

The salad sounded awesome ,great choice, Suzy.

I am liking the options they have for swimsuits, now. You can actually wear some board shorts with a top and it's a suit!

My IPOM moment is that I didn't overeat last night. I usually go in starving and snack on a meal before I finish cooking...but last night was better. Some improvement is needed, but I am heading in the right direction. I really , really, really want to get some lbs. off before next year! I am the only one that can make that happen , so looks like the ball is in my court. GAME ON!!

Vail and Snoozie, Love the idea of ZUMBA...even if it is the gold edition...it's still a total workout from what I see on tv. Great job!!

Your Zumba gold, sounds perfect, and Gail, great going, doing house work great calorie burning and reinforcing grands to pick up their belongings. I am trying so hard with mines. Good job. And the food choices are great.

IPOM: I made it to gymnastics had a great time will try to make it back tonight.

    Yayy for you Gail!!

I have an IPOM for yesterday, I ate dinner but wanted to eat a hot dog and potato salad late last night only because I knew it was there in the frig. I withheld from eating anything else after dinner. But I did have my hot dog and potato salad for breakfast today lol

total kudos gail and milove on your IPOMS !! and total respect - only 4 m&m's ??? I don't think I could do that!! And milove hey that's a great breakfast; protein and a carb LOL!! WELL DONE on closing the fridge door after dinner!

My IPOM is I got up wayyyyyyy early to get my lake walk in before my volunteer gig at 10am :):)
my feet hurt now tho - but i'm going back in to help out just with loading the theatre in an hour cause they are short people and desperate :)

oh and I WANTED a donut with y coffee on the way home this aft - BUT I didn't get it, just the coffee.. then I made scrambled eggs to stuff in my face to tide me over as I worked thru lunch.

hot damn we are doing so well Hatters!! Now if only the scales would reflect the work lol!! But that's ok.. its just a piece of plastic; its more about knowing we did GOOD, right??

Catch ya'll on the flip side

Does it still count if only 4 pc. dispense out of the little gumball machine after depositing 25 cents? lol I guess I could have kept feeding it quarters until I had eaten a whole bags worth...So I will still call it an IPOM moment.

Yea!! milove Totally great move to not eat it 'cause it was there...That is my whole problem...eating 'cause know it's there...I hardly ever feel real hunger...just boredom.

Snoozie, I read that so fast I thought at first you were helping out because they had Short( height) people coming....I am so bad :/ lol
Awesome on passing up the donut. that may be my second best thing I love after chips.....especially if I go to the shop and smell them fresh..

We are doing great things...and I agree on wishing that the scale would move, but it doesn't bother me like it used to...I hardly even weigh anymore and I used to weigh at least 4 times a day....that's stripping down to nothing..... now that was only at home now.

We had an audit today at work and if I make it 2 more minutes without them coming in , I may have missed it...YEA!!! ....unless they back track tomorrow..

Have an awesome day. Bye now.

TOTALLY still counts gail cause you didn't keep feeding it quarters!!!

I had to laugh at the boredom eating line cause I am an emotional eater and I guess that makes boredom an emotion cause I eat when i'm bored too!! I try to remember that line I saw on here somewhere that said if you are eating something cause you're bored eat an apple.... if you decide you don't want the apple, you aren't hungry so go do something else lol. doesn't always work of course!

I found these images for our IPOM'S so I thought I would post em in case anyone wants to copy one or two and use em for when they post their IPOM's :)

Yes, Gail not feeding the machine quarters count. I could see myself breaking a twenty just to get those quarters for my sin food. I also have slowed down on weighing. I keep my weight in a notebook at work and weigh on the job about twice a month.
Great job Snoozie, definitely not eating the donut is such an IPOM. and I love the IPOMoji's. By the way your volunteering work sounds so interesting.
Sorry Snoozie, I am not savvy enough to put the pic with my ipom. However, my IPOM is again no extra eating or snacking after dinner.

    Vailara Posts: 2,477 Member
Well done on avoiding the evening snacking! It so easy to succumb! And such restraint on the m&ms, Gail - well done! I have honestly got worse- I used to be able to have a little bit of something and now as soon as I start eating I feel like I don't want to stop! I suppose it might be a side effect of the fasting, unfortunately. My only IPOM is that I now seem to have got in the habit of not eating at work. I just don't do it, without thinking about it. If I do have lunch with other people I just have tea or coffee. I was going to post that I had no IPOMs at all, but I suppose that's one!

As for swimsuits, burkinis are looking very tempting. I seem to have a worse body image now than I did when I was fat. Also when I was fat, I floated really easily in the water, which was kind of fun. Not that I'd want to go back to that size, by any means! I'm so glad to have lost the bulk of the weight!

Snoozie, it would be funny if you diredted everybody the wrong way, with fights starting in the aisles! At least, it's funny in my head, but obviously wouldn't be in real life. I'm sure you're getting used to numbering now. Well done on resisting that donut!

Vail - I was lounging in bed with my coffee reading your post and when I read about the burkini I nearly choked with laughter; I was thinking of getting one of those suits from back in the 20's, buttoned up to the neck and knee length bloomers!!

congrats on your IPOM that is INDEED an awesome one!!! and don't forget IPOMs don't have to be weight loss related - anything that you do from a random act of kindness to making a better food choice counts - its just about focusing on the positive things we do instead of berating ourselves for things we thing we haven't done or have done wrong :)

Milove - you did the IPOM pic.. congrats!! funny about the change in weigh ins.. I don't weigh as often as I used to either, but i'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing for me right now - I am focusing more on how my clothes fit, but they aren't getting looser so I might need to go back to at least a once a day weigh in..

and on that note... I stumbled across this graph yesterday on the site... and I literally mean stumbled.. I hit the wrong button on my phone and this chart showed up... I was like what the heck...? it shows my weight loss part way thru when I came here.. I started just over 200lbs.... so it shows me hitting my goal weight... AND the regain AS it crept slowly up and up... :'( it was a bit of a shock, and quite the eye opener seeing that line creep up ad up and stay there!! but turns out its a positive thing... it has reinforced the reminder that I CAN lose the weight ... and now wanna see that line go allllllllllll the way back down again!! Of course i'll probably never be able to fin the chart again when it does LOLOL... BUT i'll try!! i'll put a pic up to show it...

my IPOM yesterday was I went to the lake for my walk and on the way back got a text from a friend who was gona try the zumba gold class at her rec centre across town and wanted me to join her.. I booted it home, changed, flew out the door and managed to get there 5 minutes before the class started - I think the panic to get there burned more cals then the class ha... weirdly tho I got a bad wave of vertigo about 1/2 way thru.. lasted a couple of hours but my ears were crackly later so I think it was just maybe I got some water in my ears and however I threw my head around caused it.. i'm hoping anyway lol.

it's our big 150th birthday here in Canada tomorrow; lots of celebrations going on but i'm going to try to make good choices and the appy I have to bring is gonna be little grape tomatos cut I half with a 1/2 olive inside, sprinkled with a little feta cheese and some fresh basil, and a little balsamic glaze drizzled.. its red and white (our flag colors) and relatively healthy - not to mention a huge challenge for me being cooking challenged LOLOL..

Have a great weekend Hatters - and remember to be kind to yourselves in thought and deed !!

Wow, Snoozie, that chart is predictable I am sure for most of us. I was reading an article yesterday that says that most everyone that loses weight gains it back. They suggested it's because the weight loss causes the body metabolism to slow down tremendous as a defense mechanism, and when the person ceases the dieting after reaching desired weight the body metabolism stays slow and does not speed up, therefore, it makes putting on weight easier without going back on a special diet. BTW, your IPOM is awesome.

I am also laughing at the bukini Vail, I have a girlfriend who always teased in the middle of the room at work that she was going to the beach this weekend or on vacation and that she that has been exercising so she can fit into her bokini. then she would say HOLLA!!! lol And yes Vail, that is an IPOM.

I don't have an IPOM from yesterday!! Not that I probably couldn't find one. Such as I ate a pack of Cheetos yesterday after dinner, but I guess I could have eaten 2 packs like in the past. Okay that is an IPOM also I craved ice cream but didn't buy it at the grocery store yesterday (craved it at that time) and last eve, craved it again but did not go out to get it. Yayy I did have a IPOM.

When we were kids, my dad played a lot of Roger Whittaker's songs on the 8 track machine in the car on road trips (anyoe remember 8 track tapes??) I haven't thought of them in years, but this morning one of our favourites called "Canada Is" popped into my head... he and I used to sing this at the top of our lungs with my sister and mom trapped alongside us LOL.. and neither of us could sing well btw... anyway it's Canada's 150th birthday tomorrow and for whatever reason this popped into my head this mornig, I figured it was a great tribute to our country, ad my dad! So thought i'd share it with my lovely friends across the border - who have made my journey here with all of you full of laughter, learning and love!! This.. is US lol !!

Looks like lots of great IPOM moments going on - how fantastic is that! I think it's so important to give ourselves the pats on the back that we all deserve.

I apologize for being so MIA. It's been a busy last couple of weeks, but I have been reading everyone's posts at least. As far as personal progress, the scale hasn't been moving, but at least I have been moving by keeping up my walking. It has been a bit of a challenge physically , but I have persisted and tried to work around issues by seeing my neuromuscular therapist twice the first week and buying some new shoes that are better for my wide feet and neuropathy as well as remembering to stretch before and after . Im happy to say it's all helping. I've been doing pretty well with eating healthy foods, but overdoing portions a bit and alcohol consumption. I do plan on cutting back on alcohol consumption after this holiday weekend to help lower the overall daily calories.

The heat has been horrific needless to say. It's improving somewhat, though, with highs predicted this week between 104-106 , which is still too hot , but better than 110-120.

Hope everyone stays cool and enjoys the holiday!

    Evening ladies...

I'm still here... my IPOM is that I've been walking with my neighbor 1 or 2 times a week, avg 3.0 mph, which is pretty darn good considering that she's 60 + and I'm in my mid-50s...

Work is going better, not saying anything out loud....

I go to neuro-cognitive study on Wednesday... wish me luck. But the good news is that both the anti-seizure med and the mood pill have been doing their job... thank God for good insurance and good meds... (giggles in Jersey)....

We have the company picnic tomorrow... will indulge, but will be mindful...

Happy Canada Day snoozie and the rest of those from Canada...

Tuesday marks 241 for the good ol' USA....

    Talk to you soon.
