So not sure what happened with the weight.i have been exercising and eating well. I have started logging my food but yesterday I fell asleep and forgot to to push the button to complete my diary. But today is day 3 of logging, I will try not to fall asleep before completing it. I also was up bright and early to get my workout done. If my weight goes up again next week that scale is going out the window.6

I appreciate all of the suggestions for drinking my water, but I did the same thing again today! My sons bought me an Apple Watch for Christmas and I set a reminder to “ breathe “ and I’m so insanely busy at work that I don’t even stop to breathe let alone drink water. I get in a crazy work frame of mind and I just don’t stop all day. I don’t even stop for lunch, which is a bad thing!! I had 2 bottles of water on my desk all day and didn’t have a drop. Now that’s weird but when I’m in that work mode it’s not! Don’t know if that makes any sense.1

@eyesopennow I know you have had your MIL at you home for a long time and took great care of her. I am sorry to hear of the stressful holiday you had. I hope your wife can come to peace with her Mom being in a skilled care unit. She needs more care than you both can provide. If you tried, you both would end up being sick and exhausted. It is hard to take care of yourself when you have so much going on. No worries about the weigh in, hopefully things start to settle down and you can focus on yourself. Hugs to you and your family is in my prayers.
@DananaNanas I think 6 lbs down from last year is great! Better than going in the other direction. You really have been working hard to get to where you want to be. You have been making progress even though it is not as fast as you would like. There are always ups and downs on our paths, the important thing is you are still here and still putting one foot in front of the other. You also have a plan, I know it isn't easy. I am so glad you are here with us. Hugs!
@Mrsbell8well it is so nice to actually see yourself do things you couldn't do before! I really wish I could join you with yoga. Now I have to look up the plow pose!
@ljdanny Your weight can fluctuate for a number of reasons. Don't sweat it-you're doing great! Keep doing what you are doing and I am sure you will have a loss next week!
@Kirsten11872 I was wondering where you went! I thought we lost you! Lol! Glad you found us!
@lennoncpa it is hard to do something new, especially when your mind is otherwise occupied! Maybe you can take a sip when a co worker gets on your nerves or a client isn't prepared...make a game out of it! Instead of saying something that you probably shouldn't take a sip. Lol! Idk, I am grasping for straws here! Hope you can figure something out.
@czvanut You really have got this down! Great job! Hope you and the hubs have fun tomorrow night!
@twyla77 Another great day! Keep it going!4 -

Tonight I went to my 4th yoga class in 4 days. It is so much fun! I hope to be able to go this weekend, as well. Then I start back to work again after some time off which will result in much less yoga time.
Before Yoga I only had about 20 minutes to take the dog for a walk on our first sunny day in a while. We have a path we normally walk that takes us about 30 minutes. I was planning to turn back part way to make it home in time. But we easily made it in 18 minutes. I haven't walked her that way in about a month because of the early darkness, my work schedule and the weather. I was jogging for much of it. So nice to see my fitness increasing, as it started so very very poorly.
Along those same lines, I always spend a week on Lake Michigan with my parents and sisters and families. I just booked the house for the summer. The owner sent me some information on local hikes. There is an awesome hike along the lake and thru the dunes that is 4.5 miles long. Last summer I was not able to walk from the end of the boardwalk to the water front without having to stop and rest. This year I will be walking that 4.5 miles and I am so excited. I love hiking and walking on the Lake is one of my favorites. I am so glad I will be able to do these things I love again.
@Shirin_K - Frustrating about the weight gain. My weight fluctuates up and down, sometimes a few pounds, next week you might see a large drop. Are you using a scale to weight your foods to get the most accurate calorie counts? I am only bringing that up because I have seen many others point this out as a possible culprit for slower loss or unexpected weight gain - not because I am suggesting you are doing anything wrong. Knowledge can be power.
@eyesopennow - I am so very sorry to hear about your MIL and all the stress and suffering on your family.
@Mrsbell8well - I am so happy to hear about your yoga progress. Please keep sharing. It gives me hope that I will continue to get stronger, more flexible and better able to balance. And I just love to hear about success! To answer your question - I am 5'5.5" and started at 228.5 pounds. I have lost 38 pounds and plan to get to about 150, but I am holding off on a final goal weight until I see how I feel and look as I get to a "normal" BMI. How tall are you? Do you find the yoga helpful on your weight loss journey? I am not sure if the yoga will help my weight lose but I really enjoy it and need to get back some flexibility and strength. It was terrible before I started focusing some on basic stretches and walking more. Terrible!
@ljdanny - Sorry to hear your frustration about the weight. My weight fluctuates, sometimes by a few pounds. Hang in there. If you are sticking with your plan, the weight will change. Are you weighing your food with a food scale? I see this often suggested in situations with weight gain or slower than expected weight loss (not that one week of being off is a pattern I would be worried about).
@DananaNanas - I am also new to Yoga and have been to several classes recently. I love the idea of going to a retreat. I am going to look into one near me. Thanks for mentioning yours and giving me the idea. I like your plans for 2019 and beyond so clearly outlined too. Inspiring to me to try to do the same instead of just saying, "get healthier"5 -
Check in (Friday)
Still no logging. Next Saturday, the scales should be unpacked.
Water: heaps. >2L of water with lemon. Did have diet sprite and Coke Zero. No coffee or tea.
Steps: 7120 with night time routine to go.
Successes: stayed under 30g of carb. Drank heaps of water. Chose to walk rather than find a closer park when seeing the solicitors about the house settlement on Monday.
Opportunities for improvement: Hurt my back helping dad - I need to ensure that I’m not risking myself to help him. Need to ensure that my early morning carb cravings don’t get on top of me. I had most of my carbs at breakfast then struggled to find low enough carb options for the rest of the day.
Focus for tomorrow: LCHF breakfast. Strawberries to satisfy the ‘sweet’ trigger only if necessary.4 -

I love planners. Yesterday my daughter turned me on to the Happy Planner system. I had to order the same beautiful one she has. It’s called fresh romance. I ordered the supplemental fitness segment. I can track my food and water.
This weekend I begin the deep cleaning of our home. I have planned a 3 month winter schedule. I am also in the midst of planning our yearly budget. And our vacation schedules. I think we’re also going to book a cabin on a lake.
This Sunday I start back with my running program.
I start interviewing soon for promotion. It will be a big step up in responsibilities and time commitment. That has me feeling a bit apprehensive.
Getting ready to transition into 90% raw. And a mid month juice cleanse.
The good thing is that my energy is increasing with the diet changes and increase in physical activity.
One day at a time.
Sounds like lots of other team members are experiencing many changes as well.4 -
@phoebe112476 you have inspired me with your lake vacation. We were just talking about going camping but wifey wants to check out cabins this year.
I have been doing yoga for years. But this is the first time I have committed to a daily practice. It’s astounding the difference. Yes I do believe it affects the appearance of my muscles. I am stronger and looking more toned. I m currently doing you tube Adrienne 30 day yoga challenge.
I’m 5’4. Started at 202.8 pounds. Currently 165.2. Goal 142.
Good luck!2 -
Molly bought this for my daughters boyfriend at Christmas. It was the biggest hit. She had to order another one for us. It’s a heated back massager. This thing is amazing. I have challenges with lower back. I can feel the knots loosening and my back cracking. It has really made a difference for me.6 -

Can you set reminders on outlook every hour or so to take a swig of water? Once it becomes a habit then you can delete them3 -
Good morning all and HAPPY Friday!!!
Yesterday was another good day. Drank my water, ate good food, walked and did yoga. I'm doing the new Yoga with Adriene Dedicate 30 day challenge. Love it so far!!!

Good morning everyone. Was a good day yesterday. was on track with my new food. my grocery's are almost gone. so when the ole boy was worried I would not eat all the veggies. he was ohhh sooo wrong. Yesterday was day 4. still feel the same. no changes yet in pain or energy. cravings seem to be some less. its early in the journey. got my hair cut yesterday. my regular girl is on vacation and someone was filling in for her. wow. she took off more than I wanted and it seems like one side is shorter than the other in the back. ughhh...
@Mrsbell8well woooo whooo the plow and the crow. you rock Angelina! ohh a cabin on the lake would be lovely. as for deep cleaning, I usually pick a room and clean until it is done and then move to the next. by time I make it thru the whole house it is time to start again! my plan is very similar to yours food wise. mostly clean raw fruits and veggies. and my meats as rare as I can eat them without risking my health.
@twyla77 in my coat closet cleaning I found a jean jacket I use to wear, lol it was bedazzled! jim said the 90's called and wants their jacket back! great job yesterday. on track in the new year!!
@ljdanny don't let that get you down. you just keep moving forward. you got this. sometimes the scale is just not nice to us.
@kirsten11872 we have missed you. thanks for checking in. also at the beginning of the thread is a reflection exercise. it may help you get refocused on your goals for the new year.
@lennoncpa until upping your water intake is important to you, it won't get done. your important. take the few seconds it takes to drink some water.
@czvanut I love taco salad. it is one of my favorites. I make mine with chicken instead of burger.
@phoebe112476 I love that you are making the time for the yoga. it is so good for your body. you summer vacation sounds amazing. which state is it in?
@coolchick207 are you getting all moved in? moving is very stressfull. watch out for that dreaded stress eating. good job at staying on track tho. you are doing great.
@carlsoda awesome day for you yesterday. keep it up! your doing great.
@sleepymom5 being ill messes with your water retention. when your sick your body needs extra water to help repair the damage. don't let it get to you. you are doing great. how are you feeling? any better?4 -

Most people lose weight when they are sick but I gain....Oh well, I am not going to stress. I was actually 205 on New Year's day so I am sure it is water weight. I haven't done great but I thought I wasn't too bad...Yesterday I finally got a good workout on my new stationary bike. I figured it out enough to at least get on. I have a ton of room for improvement which is good. I am at the very beginning for the beginners. I thought I would be a little further than that but I mostly ride on flat surfaces so I can understand why. Today we are going back to my friend's house to un decorate it. Hopefully it will be quicker. I can't stay as long today as my daughter is coming for dinner and she bringing her puppy over to meet Daisy . I am not sure what I am going to do for exercise. I may end up doing a step video after everyone leaves, or before I go this am depending when I get off the computer. This weekend is going to be quiet, I just plan to take down the decorations so I should be fine being able to exercise. My cold seems better, wish I could shake this exhausted feeling. I am just going to push. Hope everyone has a great day and weekend.
@phoebe112476 It is awesome hearing about all your progress. It must be nice to have the lake to look forward to with new activities you weren't able to do before. All your hard work is paying off! I am happy you are doing so well.
@coolchick207 I need to reel in my carbs. I am not doing the keto but I really do need to watch my carbs. 30 carbs is awesome. Sounds like you are super organized with this move. I guess you have to be. Sounds like you have a great plan for going forward. Hope your back is ok. Be careful!
@mrsbell8well I need to check out those planners. Of course they aren't on amazon but looks like staples has them. I love the difference you can see with all the changes you have made. I know it hasn't been easy but you have embraced this life style and are doing so well. I am so excited for you.
@carlssoda You really have been kicking butt! I really want to do yoga but get nauseas. I just bookmarked Adriene Dedicate's videos. Maybe I will try to do what I can and skip the stuff that will make me sick. Who knows, maybe I can build up to them.
@cyndiesstuff I am not surprised you finished off all the veggies, I was even thinking you are probably planning your garden with your new way of eating. I have heard it takes a while to feel the effects but once you do it is amazing. Hang in there. I can totally relate to your hair stylist being away. I have bangs and like them on the long side, she is the only one who can do them right Lol! I even say I don't care if I have to come back next week for a trim, I like them longer and they still make them short, every time! Lol!5 -
@sleepymom5 when I use to wear bangs I always new exactly how to cut them. if they cut them to short, they would stick straight out and if they left them to long I would have a colic. lol. I grew out my bangs about 6 years ago. I miss them! I hate it when my hair hangs in my face when I am trying to work.3
-
I woke up sore today. Not "oh my God I'm gonna die" sore, but that muscle soreness you have that lets you know you've worked hard. Pleasant soreness. Soreness that reminds you that you're improving each day. I kinda love that feeling.
Lots of us are doing yoga, starting yoga, or getting back into yoga, or thinking about starting yoga, so I wanted to add my voice to those plugging Yoga with Adrienne on You Tube. She's phenomenal. She has tons of 30-day challenge playlists, plus other videos to target certain areas. I got into her when I looked up yoga for back pain and better sleep. I'm doing the Dedicate January challenge right now, plus adding in light cardio and strength training. It's also a great way to supplement other yoga classes for free!

Y'all are all so amazing. I'm new to this group and absolutely loving the energy and support here! Keep up the great work!6 -

I will take even the small loss as I am just back in the MFP saddle! On the negative side, over the past 4.5 months, I gained the 15 lbs of the 25 lbs that I lost earlier in 2018. On the positive side, I managed to keep 10 lbs off! I am determined to continue on my weight loss journey and not let injury get the better of me. It has been tough going the past few months and have had to fight to stay positive. My physio introduced me to a nice app that reminds me to do my physio exercises twice a day and track how I am doing. I continue to be very inspired by all of you, particularly those of you who are facing serious issues in life, but you share with the team and keep going! It is helping me do the same!
Thursday check in - Logged food and was just under target. Water was 700 ml. Steps were 6242. My step target is going to be between 6000 and 7000 as I work through my injury.

@sleepymom5 this is the planner. I did order it through Amazon. My daughter got it for $15 at Michaels. I pd $39.99. Ughhh but I so badly wanted it. I just finished our budget and financial plan for the year. Snuck that planner in yesterday just in time. Amazon.com needs to hibernate for awhile. My planner comes Wednesday. Ck out the additional fitness inserts. Super cool!
I’m not familiar with dedicate Adrienne yoga. I will do it in February. Doing the regular 30 day challenge. My 3rd time. Wanted to compare the progress.5 -

We all know it. We all have done it. You make good food choices, avoid temptations, and work out every day only to find that on Friday or Saturday night, your willpower goes out the window. Somehow you begin munching on chips or sweets and guzzling beer or other mixed drink then snoozing through your Yoga class the next morning. Sound familiar?
The weekend sure can pose a challenge to our health and weight-loss goals. Why? Well, during the week, we tend to plan ahead and follow a schedule. We don't have access to the frig. We get up, eat breakfast, head to work, eat planned snacks during our breaks, enjoy lunch at the same scheduled time each day, and find ways to squeeze in a little exercise. Many of us even pack a whole day's worth of food and do pretty well at making healthy decisions day to day.
During the weekend, sometimes it seems that all bets are off. Without a set schedule and access to the frig and the snack cupboard, one weekend can easily undo a whole week of healthy habits.
But weekends don't have to be this way. In fact, weekends are a great time to practice healthy behaviors because you usually have more time to do so. So, how do you change your unhealthy weekend habits? A good start would be to begin incorporating these healthy weekend tips so you can stay healthy—and on track!
According to Sparkspeople:
1. Squeeze in a longer workout. The best part of the weekend is that you have more free time.
2. Eat like it's a weekday. When you think about it, it doesn't really make much sense to eat differently on the weekend than you do during the week—especially if your food choices during the week keep you fueled and energized.
3. Stick to your usual sleep schedule.
4. Get outdoors. Because most of us work indoors during the daylight hours, the weekend provides a nice opportunity to get outside, see the sun and connect with nature.
5. Fuel yourself for weekday success. Ask yourself honestly if you pushed yourself too hard with workouts or restricted your food or calories too much during the week. If so, come Friday, your body may be hungry and tired, which can lead to overeating and underexercising on the weekend. Remember to practice moderation every day, eating and exercising in a way that you can sustain for the long haul—not just a few days or weeks.
6. Limit your drinks.
7. Plan for relaxation.
8. Break the on-again, off-again diet mentality. If you have a history in yo-yo dieting, make sure that you're not alternating between being "good" and "bad" throughout the course of a week. View the weekend as time for you—not a time to rebel or "cheat" on your diet and exercise plan.
9. Weigh in Monday morning. If you need extra help being accountable over the weekend, schedule your weekly weigh-in for Monday morning. Knowing that you'll step on the scale at the start of the week can help you to stay accountable and be more aware of your weekend choices.
10. Plan for the week ahead. What better way to stay healthy on the weekend than by using your extra time to continue to set yourself up for success? Take a Sunday afternoon or evening to plan your meals, hit the grocery store, and do some big batch cooking for the week ahead.8 -
@czvanut yoga is one of my favorite forms of exercise along with walking and gardening. I am so glad you are enjoying our group. feel lucky you get to feel the soreness from exercise. it means you are getting stronger and need to drink some water. lol have an awesome day.
@FieryVixsin wooo whooo great loss. how have you been doing?
@Cafelelia hey we will take that loss. keep up that hard work. and good job on meeting your daily goals
@Mrsbell8well that is such a cute planner. nice.
@eyesopennow you knew it was gonna look like that. now it is time to change it. to help you, get the junk out of your house. replace it with healthy good for you snacks. you can do this.

Sorry @cyndiesstuff & @sleepymom5 I have just been busy. I try to get on here during work, but we are short-staffed and there is no extra time. When I get home from work I am busy as well. I need to take time this weekend and catch up.
I am hoping for an ok weigh-in tomorrow. I have dinner plans tonight and brunch on Sunday. Trying to meet up with friends since the holidays are over, it is always too busy during December to get together. Tonight's plan interfere with my gym time, but there is nothing I can do. I went to the gym last night and Tuesday. I think if I eat sensibly tonight I should either stay the same or possibly lose a little.
The hubby and I are going to Vegas the last week of July. That and summer in general are my motivators. I refuse to deal with extra weight when the weather turns warm and I need to wear my summer clothes. After this weekend, I am completely focused!
I bought ingredients to make lentil soup this weekend and healthy pumpkin muffins. I am going to do this!
We got this! New Year to hit our goals!5 -

The support on this team is amazing! Thank you all for your encouragement and ideas yesterday! I’m just going to keep on moving forward and doing the right things and know the scale will catch up. Last night I had family over for dinner. We had an awesome spinach/lettuce salad with grilled chicken, strawberries, onions, walnuts and goat cheese. Everyone was perfectly happy having salad… a nice change after the heavier holiday meals the last time we were together! And I made sure to get lots of steps in before they arrived and did yoga after.
@cyndiesstuff Good job eating all those veggies! I sure hope that your efforts will eventually help reduce your pain. I haven’t taken measurements, but it would be interesting.
@sleepymom5 No worries on that gain! I tend to gain when I’m sick too – it will be off in no time. That’s great you are figuring out your stationary bike!
@carlsoda Awesome job doing the yoga with Adrienne!
@eyesopennow Sorry to hear about your difficult start to the year. Hope you are able to make time for yourself now.
@DananaNanas Great goals for this year!
@nstephenson01 Nice measurement results! And what a great feeling to know you did so much better over the holidays this year.
@ljdanny It’s like we had the same week with the scale! Next weigh-in will be better for us!
@Mrsbell8well Losses for us next week sounds wonderful! It’s really inspiring hearing how yoga has made a difference for you.
@czvanut Another great day for you! I absolutely love the Adriene videos too!!
@twyla77 Sounds like a successful day. Way to go!
@lennoncpa I also struggle with water - you’ve inspired me to try extra hard to get 64 oz today.
@phoebe112476 Awesome on the yoga. And it’s a great feeling to know your fitness level is improving. Lake vacations are the best! Last year we rented a cabin on Lake Superior and I’ve been dreaming of going back since. You will definitely be walking that whole trail this year! And yes, I do use a food scale at home and measure nearly everything! But when I was at my parents for a few days around Christmas, it was a lot of guessing, so maybe I underestimated then and just seeing the effects now!
@cafelelia Nice job pushing forward! You have such a great attitude!
@coolchick207 You've got me thinking about carbs... I tend to focus so much on the calories, I often overlook how many carbs I'm eating. Hope your back feels better soon.
@kirsten11872 I totally relate with summer being a motivator. I want to feel comfortable with the way I look in summer clothes and go to the pool this year feeling at least somewhat less self-conscious! And I love lentil soup! I have all the ingredients here, so think I will make this weekend as well.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Friday!4 -
I am sitting here this afternoon. It is that same time of day this always happens. I have already had my afternoon snack and now I am HUNGRY. The thought of going home and having to cook dinner stresses me out. That's where having made a plan over the last weekend helps. Now, lets imagine what would happen if I didn't have a plan. I would go home, hungry. What do I make? I got no idea. so I grab a snack to tide me over while I try to figure something out. then, I eat while I am cooking and then I eat dinner. so now, I am even more stressed out because I snacked when I got home and snacked while I cooked dinner and then ate dinner.
It is ok to be hungry. It is not a crisis. I will be ok. When you are on a weight loss plan, many times you are hungry. Many times you just think your hungry. Remember, it is not the end of the world to be hungry.
The other idea in this message is that you NEED to preplan and prep. By doing so you set yourself up for success. I know it takes a little more time. But it is SO worth it. On sunday, I spend a lot of my day preparing for the following week. I make a menu. I go grocery shopping, and I prep and prepare everything possible before hand. I have even gone so far as to prelog all my meals for the week. talk about making a commitment!
10 -
You've got me thinking about carbs... I tend to focus so much on the calories, I often overlook how many carbs I'm eating. Hope your back feels better soon.
Thanks, mate. Woke up feeling a lot better (anti-inflams and physio stretches for the win!). I'm the exact opposite when it comes to tracking - I only really track carbs and don't care about calories. lol. Whatever works, if my motto!
