I have two of those handmade masks which were made by a licensed practical nurse who just retired and now is discovering the joys of doing useful things on her schedule.

I got my MRI results online yesterday and despite the terminology, I suspecterd I had a problem. The orthopedic's office called me today to tell me that he had reviewed them and believes I might benefit from surgery. The only problem is that it is elective, and if I was interested in going that route that it likely couldn't be done for two months. If so, then that will make about six months I've been dealing with this.

At first, it wasn't bad but then at the beginning of March, it started being a major problem. It took two weeks to get insurance approval, and then another two weeks for the MRI. Right now, it is only certain movements that cause a problem so in two months, who knows? I just know that I read about the recovery process and limitations, such as not driving for a month, etc. so that is a problem.

Jean, I’m sorry you don’t live near me so I could be of help. I could help with driving and picking things up. Unfortunately, living in different states makes that impossible. Do you have any friends that could help with driving? Or do senior services match people with volunteer helpers ? I know that’s not possible right now but when the pandemic passes, is that a possibility? Delaying the surgery might actually be a benefit in respect to getting help.

I saw a news report the Delta was giving customers 2 years to use credits from canceled flights. Perhaps your airline is offering something like that. Even though the ticket is not refundable, they are not flying internationally so it’s not like you canceled them. It wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Jean, I’ve forgotten what type of injury you’re dealing with?

Tonight I participated in a FaceTime happy hour with my friends that usually get together every first Friday. We had a few technical issues, but it was really nice to see their faces and hear their voices. I think that is what I miss most during this enforced time of separation.

Jean - I'm so sorry about your MRI results. What a horrible time to be facing such a decision!!

Interesting - Johns Hopkins is now accepting donations of homemade masks as long as they are made according to their instructions:

The masks my sister is making are similar, but instead of ties, she is sewing on 1/8” width elastic so that the masks just slip on over one’s ears. She also sews a small piece of pipe cleaner into the top edge to bend over the nose for a more customized fit.

The problem is a rotator cuff issue. I had that happen many years ago but it healed on its own.

I had to steal "Jolene" to post on FB.

RC is pretty painful. I had an RC injury last year and was lucky enough to heal it with PT. Any time I feel a twinge, I wonder about it coming back. I can see how recovery from surgery when you live alone would be difficult. In the meantime, does wearing a sling give you any relief from the pain? Is it your dominant arm?

My favorite meme today was the bear chart. I’m sure there are places where the stages are already 2 and 3.

We have 2 small hospitals on the Cape. They are affiliated. They recently closed the obstetrical department because they only had about 300 births a year. The larger hospital had 700 births a year. The hospital administration figured they could put the maternity beds to better use if the consolidated. The two hospitals are about twenty miles apart. I’m wondering if the decision was premature. I think we’re in for a baby boom when all this quarantining is over. Time will tell.

It feels like FOREVER since I went to the grocery store.

    I checked my checking account.

    It's been six days.....

This morning I fed the colonies and went by the post office drive through to drop off letters. Tomorrow I'll get the CROM mail at the (closed) UPS store.

My world is absent of people (except DH).

I spend my time refreshing my computer to try to get delivery times.

On the plus side, the girl cat at Pep Boys, who never gets anywhere near me, got close enough to sniff my finger today!

Maybe you smelled like cat food? Were you coming from feeding the colonies? LOL

I haven't seen anyone since Monday, March 30 other than those I've seen on TV. I did make a run to the Post Office last Wednesday eve to collect any mail.

Well, I WAS bringing her food but that's never gotten her close to me before.

Maybe it’s less contact available with the people she really likes. Whatever it was, you must have been thrilled when she came to you. Our cat Cagney, started life as a stray. She was very skittish with us for more than a year. She eventually got to the point of choosing to sit on our laps, if she was in the mood. We had her 16 years and we still couldn’t pick her up. She’d panic and the little feet would start flailing. DH could hold her about 10 seconds before she’d squirm to get down. She was our sweet girl and we were thrilled we we first were able to pet her.

The last cat we placed at our vet before they closed their doors to the public:. Keeping her person company while she (the person) works from home. Bubbles, now Abbie.

Morning, all! Up since 4am which makes for a long day. Starting Day 2 of Week 4, not that I am counting. 😕 Getting bad when in Kentucky and here in Kanawha County those who are diagnosed and won't stay put may have a gps ankle bracelet put on.

Have a good day as we await the next thrilling chapter of "Days of Our Quarantined Lives." 😷
