That's interesting, I'd not heard of A helping anything but the eyes! Love learning new things.

I was surprised - my Medicare card came in the mail this month and it begins on August 1st. We thought it wouldn't begin until after my birthday on the 31st! Now to decide what we need to add to it to make it more effective!

My heart is acting funny the past week. It isn't beating wrong, I just feel like I have to keep taking deep breaths and can feel it beating. There were three days when my medication to slow my heart rate wasn't working enough so I had to take more. Today seems like one of those days! I really don't want anything to be wrong in that area, so please pray that it starts to feel normal again. Thank you so much.

Praying for you, Kim, for your heart to me back to normal.

I had to dig to find what I read about vitamin A... here it is:

That is interesting. I don't take either of those by themselves, but they are in several of the supplements that I do take. I do heal rather quickly, and I "over heal" as well. I get scars that become large bumps. Eventually they will "deflate" and look normal, but for a time it's rather unsightly!

Kim, most of my supplements are in single form as I haven't found too many combination vitamins/supplements in the dosages I prefer. I'm taking 2,000 mg of vitamin C and 3,000 mcg of vitamin A

Thanks for the reminder - forgot to take my vitamins! Bill takes on supplement for sciatica that has several in it. Usually I buy individually, but was recommended 6 different supplements and getting him to take 6 more pills wasn't going to happen. As I was researching, I found one that had everything and mostly in the recommended doses. It seems to have helped, so I ordered two more bottles.

I'm still eating a rather soft diet. Last night I made chicken fried rice and tonight I made a Dutch Baby pancake. A little more substance than oatmeal and mashed potatoes, but not a lot of chewing necessary.

    Oh yum!

I take a liquid vitamin - Passion 4 Health, it has a lot of stuff in it.

I am having to take an extra 1/2 pill of my heart med, to slow it down, right now the single one isn't working fully. It's what I was taking before I decided 4 years ago to try and do one pill. Well, times up! That's alright, my prescription is still for the pill and a half! Sitting here on the computer my heart rate is 90, it should be in the 70's and lower! God knows all of this and He has a purpose. I am trusting in Him no matter what!

    Love y'all. Praying for you!

Not much today. I woke with a bad headache, first one in three months. Praise the Lord it didn't last very long and went away with caffeine and Tylenol. I have a sore throat and am feeling quite tired so am going to take it easy today.

I've been enjoying salads lately. Last night it was spinach, a ruffly lettuce that is really good, chicken, 1/2 apple, colby cheese, peanuts, and French Dressing. Really refreshing. I do the nuts in lieu of croutons. Oh, I did add a small amount of super skinny beef stick! Mostly healthy but not very low cal! LOL!

I did do extra steps yesterday with three walks around the house, but won't be doing that today!

Not much healthy is going on here. I need to get back on track, but I'm tired. A cookie here and there, food Bill will eat for meals (never healthy anymore) ... I just have to find a place to start and make myself do it.

You stay in my prayers, Connie.

Took my Dayquil, that's about as healthy as I will get today. Hope this goes away quickly. It's just been the weirdest cold I've ever had, each day a different symptom pops up and the past symptom fades. I'm hoping chest congestion is the last symptom and by tomorrow it will fade away!

I haven't posted in this thread in a long time. Can you guess why? My eating habits have been just terrible. It doesn't help that I've been traveling

My oldest son and his family came over last night. He helped me put together the 2nd cage for my blueberry bush. They wanted Mexican take-out for dinner, so I ordered 2 tacos, then dumped the meat and cheese on a bed of lettuce, added some cubed avocado and a drizzle of dressing and called it a taco salad.

Oh, you are being so good, Cindy! Eating will be better for me this week. No treats until the weekend! I've had way too many recently. I will start walking as soon as it doesn't affect my breathing to move around. I am doing better today, so I am hoping in a couple of days I'll be able to be moving more.

As of yesterday I've lost two pounds. It's mostly from not eating as much during this heatwave. I've also started doing a little bit of walking and working with my weights on my upper body.

Hopefully after my life slows down, I can get my eating lined out ... Right now it is quick, easy and not healthy. I will be glad to get this move behind me!

Each time we moved we ended up culling quite a bit, but then when we got settled we'd go to the local thrift store and fill back up! LOL!

I'm working on eating smaller meals. I ordered something from Suzy Cohen called Gluco Script Max. It keep blood sugar at a healthy range and helps lower cholesterol and triglycerides; it also helps to lower sweet cravings. My blood sugar was in the 90's this last time. They've lowered the normal range to 100 (it used to be up to 120), so I want something that will help bring that back down (like less treats) and help me control my carbs (which I love). I can't use my weights because of the arthritis in my hands, so I will just do the movements without the weights, or with my 1lb weights instead of the three pound ones. Walking will have to wait until the pain in my leg lessens, or I will have to do it with my rollator (which I had to use yesterday because of the pain). Getting old is hard!

I walked maybe 2 1/2 miles with my friend, Beth, on Monday. It poured on Tuesday and was pretty gloomy yesterday as well, so I'm glad we got that in. Not much new going on here. The kids are all coming over to celebrate Father's Day this Saturday, so I've got some cleaning up to do.

Just sent Beth a text about walking again tomorrow. I do so much better (walk farther) when I walk with someone. I need to get back to some kind of weight bearing exercise. My arms are just so flabby... ugh

2.5 miles is awesome! Great job! I'm happy if I get 1500 steps in my day! My leg is doing better, much better, but my back is still aching, but then it always is anyway! heehee

Cutting back on the amount I'm eating and so far this week I've avoided sweet treats; saving it for this weekend!

Beth and I walked 4 miles yesterday. That's a route we used to walk once or twice a week - maybe 10 years ago. We haven't done it in a long time. Yesterday it was in the 60s and seemed like a good day to try... and success! (Of course, today my feet hurt a little.)

Today's brunch: wild black raspberry chaffles two ways. I didn't have any coconut or almond flour, so I used ground flaxseed. That first chaffle had a more watery texture so I didn't add berries to it; I just placed them on top after. I added 1/2 teaspoon of sweet white rice flour to the remaining mixture, making it less watery, so I added berries to that one before cooking. Both tasted good, but the second one (berries inside) was slightly better

Wow, Cindy, those chaffles look awesome! Congrats on getting through the four miles! Woohoo!

Time to be good for a week and say no to treats! I have to really force myself to get my workout in and some walking - fatigue is just keeping me in my chair. Thunder kept waking me up last night so I can hardly keep my eyes open this morning!

It's easy to find an excuse not to walk, so I'm really making the effort. The evenings are cooler, so that seems to work for me. Did a 20-minute neighborhood walk, including a chat with my sweet neighbor who fosters dogs. Also increased water intake and hours of sleep.

I'm working on making sure I do my lymphedema massage at least four times a week, and eventually it will just become habit to do it every day. I'm also working on putting on my compression wraps (I have leg ones and ordered some arm ones) but I get so hot in them right now (especially now that I am overheating so much), so I do it every other day. I didn't say no to some treats this week - my little ice cream cone (one scoop) just sounded so good when I was so hot! We also had our church meal together and I had 1/2 a slice of pecan pie and 1/2 a slice of angel food cake with Cool Whip on it. I eat treats on Saturday and Sunday, one each day. I really need to make that just one day a week so I can be serious about this weight loss! I did lose .6 of a pound in the last day. I know, it could be I'm wearing different clothes that weigh .6 less - but I'll take it! heeheehee!

    Love you

Kim, occasional treats make the whole process easier, I think. I don't weigh, just try to do everything in a healthier way. How long do you wear compression wraps on the days that you put them on?

It was too humid to walk today, so I spent a good bit of time pulling weeds and grass out of our backyard patio area that's covered in pebbles. Much better than spraying Roundup or some other weed killer. Had a hard time going to sleep last night, but was able to drink more water today.

I am actually supposed to have them on all the time, but I don't do that, just too hot. If I could wear the compression socks I would probably try to wear those all the time, but it's just too painful getting them on and off. I will put them on in the morning and take them off when I go to bed. I really like this last pair that I got, they function the same way that the short stretch bandaging works, unfortunately they come up over my knees. I got them cheap from E-Bay, so I can't complain! I read in my Medicare stuff that they will cover Lymphedema garments and apparatuses - woohoo, they are expensive - that's one reason I wear them patchily, too expensive to replace, about $175-200 every six months - on a fixed income that's just too much.

I did my treats over the weekend and will work to say "No" throughout the week. It will give me something to look forward to. My BAD and lasting headache this morning is going to keep me quiet this afternoon!

I have been very bad recently. I am trying to start making a few healthier choices and giving up sugar and between meal snacks (that have been many). I will eat one snack (probably cheese) this evening.
