I am sure you are an angel in the eyes of Tony and Walter! Helping them out is so kind and thoughtful of you and Jim.

I got a little reading done today but not as much as I had hoped. I found some things around the house that needed my attention so I took care of them. I will spend more time reading tomorrow I hope. We got Greek food delivered today from a local church food festival. I am amazed at the large portions they provided, especially considering the reasonable prices. We have enough for tomorrow and probably some for Monday. We had summer weather today with humidity and a high about 80, but the weatherman says cool air is headed our way in the middle of the coming week.

Hello! I'm glad you are both doing well!! I've been working but taking it easy when not working. The dentist prescribed antibiotics and will see me on 6/9 to fix the problem. Since then I've been fighting what started like allergies but has gotten worse and I now have a deep cough.

OK….this is the 3rd night that I've worked on this post. I've nodded off the 2 previous nights well before finishing it. My goal for tonight is to hit "post reply"! Friday I had a call from my dentist's office informing me that they are no longer a "preferred" provider for my dental insurance. They will still fix my tooth on 6/9 because it's "under warranty" but I will need to check with insurance to see if they cover dentists who aren't "preferred". I will start that research tomorrow afternoon.

Today I got my nails done and did some errands with DD. DD is on steroids for poison ivy and it is making her very cranky. She has many more days of the steroids as today was the first reduction in dosage. At least she thinks that the poison ivy is improving. Tomorrow I will do Facebook church due to my cough and I hope to get some things accomplished around the house.

My weight continues to bounce around the same area and my appetite bounces around also. I'm still looking for inspiration for my next goal that will provide motivation to focus on my health with more enthusiasm. I hope you both have a wonderful Sunday!

Yikes! Poison Ivy. That sounds terrible for your DD. I hope she bounces back quickly DW.

How wonderful to not have to cook for a few days Paula. It's not very often that I have Greek food.

I am not sure what today will bring. We may go for a walk somewhere to enjoy nature. DH is still asleep. He was cleaning parking lots the last two days but got them done. Now we can have two days together which will be nice. I just hope it warms up and the wind dies down. Spring has been very slow to arrive.

DW, Hoping your DD's poison ivy clears up soon. Being on steroids has its good and bad points. I was on Prednisone in April and my joints improved tremendously, but it also made me quite hungry and constipated (excuse the TMI, lol). So many side effects to be concerned about! I hope your cough goes away and that you can catch up on some rest. Getting enough rest is such a big deal to me. I feel for folks who have demands and responsibilities that cut down on the sleep needed.

Shari, You sound like you could be having an enjoyable Sunday with your DH. And another day off tomorrow for you….woo hoo! Hope it is a fun day.

We are still enjoying the Greek food. We usually get it twice a year (in May and in Sept.) when the church has its food festival. It is great that they have it delivered by Door Dash. I rested again today and did some reading, but again not as much reading as I planned. A friend from my old church stopped by with some asparagus from the garden of a mutual friend from that church. The mutual friend gave her asparagus to share with me. It clearly is asparagus season here and in your area too!

It is definitely asparagus season Paula. We will enjoy it for a few more days still. I have been able to pick some every other day at the neighbours. I can't wait for mine to be mature enough to eat. It is getting closer each year. One has to be patient when planting from seed.

It is cool and windy today but I think we will try and plant the potatoes. Maybe the carrots too. Those are the two garden vegetables that I treasure the most. Not sure what else the day will bring, but I am thankful for another day off from my job.

Shari, Wishing you a positive day as you return to work on Tuesday, refreshed from your long weekend! I had a really good day today. I think it was partly due to my restful weekend. My hunger was not out of control and my portions of the Greek food were appropriate for my point scale. I had a 90 minute phone call with one of my Texas cousins. I am happy to hear that she is considering coming to visit us again, perhaps in the fall like they did 2 years ago. Her daughter who now lives in California keeps mentioning to her that she wants to come to visit us again too. That delights me and John!

Getting up earlier for work today wasn't easy! But I managed and will sit and relax for a short time with a cup of coffee. I will work from home today, but just until 1pm. I get my gum graft checked this afternoon. While we are downtown we will stop and see my oldest to help with leaky toilet and then we will visit Tony. We will ask a few more questions to see what the long term plan is for him.

Eating wise, I didn't track yesterday but I will get to it today. I know I ate more bread type items than I would have liked, but I won't do that again today.

I hope a visit can be planned with your extended family Paula.

Hope you had good news when you had your gum graft check. Sounds like you had a busy afternoon planned. Will be interesting to see if there is a solid plan in place for Tony.

I had another fairly easy day. I think I found a light for the living room/dining room. It is reasonably priced, and both John and I really like it. If I decide to go with this one, I will post a photo. I am having 2nd thoughts about Craig doing the installation because it will be physically demanding as it involves taping into the electric line in the attic/crawl space over the ceiling. I just think Craig isn't up to this even though he says he can do it easily. Today I started pricing professional installation. It will be as expensive as I expected but I think worth it in the long run. I plan to take my time in making the decision.

John finished the last of the Greek food today. I made chicken for myself and enjoyed it with some sweet potatoes. I wasn't very hungry most of the day so snacking wasn't an issue (woo hoo). Tracking was easy too.

My gum graft is looking very good and is healing well. I just have to be careful for a couple of more weeks, mostly that means eating on the other side. That has been easy. I am super thankful.

When we went to visit Tony, there weren't any nurses around to help give us answers. We did get some numbers that we can call. Tony was in quarantine with a stomach bug so we had to gown up. I believe Tony when he says that he isn't sick. They have been giving him laxatives so he has diarrhea and that is the only symptom he has. So sad as he is stuck in his room on his own.

Glad you found a potential light Paula! That will be exciting to get installed and it helps not to be in a rush.

Great to know that your gum graft is healing well. I have been praying for Tony and will continue to do so. I feel so sorry for him in his situation. He is fortunate to have you and your DH along with Walter who care about him. Will Walter be able to care for him if he comes home soon? How old is Tony? (I can't recall if you have mentioned his age.)

My day went by quickly. I didn't do well with food choices however. I was hungrier than normal and ate over my point range. Not sure why I was so hungry, but I will be more compliant for the rest of the week to make up for today's indiscretions! Our very rainy and cold weather continues. Maybe I was just looking for comfort foods!

Tony is 79, so quite a bit younger than Walter. Tony has had a lot of health issues and Walter has cared for him, but at 93, I don't think he will be able to be much more than company for Tony. We really hope he will be open to home care services. We can't do it all, especially since I work full-time.

I will need to join you on making up on food indiscretions. I made a bad choice at dinner time, not sure why! But today is a new day and I can better choices for myself.

I sure hope Tony and Walter can get some home care support. Both are in a tough situation with considerable needs. It would be far too much for you and Jim to take on for many reasons, including that both of you have parents to be concerned about too. I hope T & W are able to connect with the resources available to meet their needs.

It was a busy and productive day here. I stayed well on track with a low point total and yet a satisfied tummy! My big news is that an electrician came today and will start the work for the light/fan installation tomorrow. It will arrive from Amazon on Saturday and he will complete the installation either Saturday or Sunday. I ended up ordering it from Amazon because all 3 Lowe's in our area did not have it in stock and ordering it would take a while to receive it. I like this electrician very much and his price is fairly reasonable. Here is a photo of the light. The fan blades are retractable.

I agree, Tony and Walter do need a lot of care and we will work with them towards getting some homecare. I am good to keep doing dishes for them and I don't mind changing their sheets. For the interim, we will continue to throw out the garbage laying around to make it easier to access the things they use regularly. I love to garden, but I just don't have the capacity while working full time. I think Tony will be very disappointed not having a garden this year, but that is the way it goes sometimes. We will plant a few more things, but we won't be able to do all of what he is hoping for.

I love your new light fixture Paula. Great pick!

Hello! Paula, I also love your new light fixture! That is so wise to have an electrician install it! Shari, you have so much on your plate! That is so kind of you and your DH to look out for Tony and Walter!
My DD finished her prednisone today but now has bigger problems. She went to a dentist and needs 1-2 crowns and several fillings. She scheduled the work while there but has been in a great deal of pain from one tooth since the appointment. She contacted them and asked to be on the list for any cancellations.
I ended up getting medical attention for my cough and also ended up on prednisone. The Dr. at the urgent care thought it is all related to seasonal allergies and said that I need to take otc allergy medicine regularly during the season. Meanwhile my appetite is out of control- I’m hoping to regroup this weekend! Have a great weekend !!

DW, I will add your DD to my prayer list. Share her name if you want to. I have several friends with various dental problems recently so believe it or not, I have a separate dental prayer list now. I hope the Prednisone helps your cough. It seems to be a very popular medication these days. Allergies in our area are rampant.

Shari, You are doing the Lord's work in helping Tony & Walter. Everything you do makes their life more livable. I know first hand how much I appreciate assistance from others, and my situation is no where near as severe as theirs is.

The electrician and his son were here today to begin the install for the ceiling light. It should arrive late Saturday. They will probably complete the install on Sunday afternoon. There was a lot of work involved so far, about six hours today and at least another 2 hours to finish the job. I am sure this would have been too much for Craig to do, especially on his own. I am really looking forward to seeing it all completed. My eating was off track today as I didn't want to cook while they were here so I nibbled until they left and I made supper.
