I am just about to wrap up my first-ever longer fast. I was aiming for 72 hours, which would have meant eating supper last night, but I wasn't hungry.... so I just kept going. I'm amazed, frankly. I was sure I'd be counting down the minutes until I could have a mug of bone broth.
Right now I'm at 88 hours and feel confident I can go a few hours longer. I think this is something I could do every three months or so. Does anyone else do longer fasts?1 -

Since my longer fast completed on Monday (90 hours), I have noticed I can't eat as much as I used to before getting full. Has anyone else noticed this? I had 700 extra calories today, and usually it's more like 200.

@KacyCarpe ... I have not done a long time fasting... For me I am concerned my body would
go into Starving mode & hold onto fat... the 16-8 has worked really good for me... along with
helping with digestive issues I have... I have been doing IF for over 6 yrs now

I've been doing the January challenge, which has been interesting. I started meditating in December by setting the timer for 1 minute. Can't say you don't have 1 minute to meditate. Now I'm at 2 minutes and plan to build slowly from there, so it never feels onerous. I will take a look at the morning meditations. I really like the journal feature, too. Fantastic free app!1

That sounds interesting. I've just checked out Fung's book "Complete Guide to Fasting." I'm looking forward to the read.1 -
My fasting time will be shorter today. I ate something around 10 last night. I'd gone out for dinner at a family style place where you share little bits from lots of dishes, and I was just so hungry when I got home. Interesting how not eating my typical low carb, enough protein, enough fat supper affected my satiety. I felt hungrier than I had during my long fast! It was a good lesson for me that each meal can make a difference.1

I've finished reading "Complete Guide to Fasting" by Jason Fung. I recommend it. It's factual but not dry and heavy. He includes a number of fasting regimens and encourages people to play around and find what works for them. He advises using bone broth to push through to stretch the time before eating. I guess it's called "fat fasting." Technically breaks the fast, but practically speaking, it extends many of the benefits. With that broth around 3 or 4, I can now do OMAD without trouble, and I am already enjoying how much less I need to spend at the grocery store!1
