Great work, Bella!
Your post is an inspiration. I see your numbers and I want to have a week of exercise numbers to post too1 -
Bella!!! That's a substantial garden (753.5 sq ft)! That's a good amount of work too!!!π2

Yes, it's certainly big enough for me, but it's the smallest allotment on the entire site by quite a margin. Including paths and the utiltity area where I have my shed. my compost bins and my manure heap it's exactly 100m2.
I rent it for Β£15/year and it's a 9 minute walk from home.2 -
Is that part of the village commons or something?
You have a cute Hobbit house or something, right? π
It certainly sounds cost effective!!!2 -
Community gardens (called 'Allotments' here in the UK) are a big thing over here. They fell out of favour for a few decades at the end of the 20th century, but there's a resurgence linked to the rise in demand for affordable organic zero-miles food.
Most allotment sites have long waiting lists - I was on the list for just over a year before I got mine, and I only got mine quickly because it was small and neglected and no one wanted it!
Our village has two allotment sites - one belongs to the parish and is run as an ecclesiastical charity, one belongs to the town council. My plot is on the ecclesiastical charity site, which means our rents are used to provide alms to the poor (or, in modern parlance, we give handouts to the needy and run a food bank!)
I used to live in a cute hobbit house, but we moved after 28 years to a normal house. I sorta miss the hobbityness of the old house, but there are benefits to living in a normal house too.3 -
Oh Garfield! How long ago? Have you stayed in the same area?1
-
2 years, give or take. Yes, by Canadian standards we're in the same area, but MIL feels as if we've moved to Mars because we're now 25 miles away, whereas previously we were 2 miles away.3
-
That was the next question (closer or further from mil!π)
Trust me by Canadian CITY slicker standards that's a good distance too!π€£2 -
It would certainly change the parameter of a casual drop in probably giving you a bit more peace of mind! π€2

To a Mom whose son, daughter-in-law AND GRANDSON moved 3,000km away, 25 miles sounds beautifully close!3

Is there water readily available for the allotment gardens?????

No, unfortunately. Every drop has to either be toted there in containers in my wheelbarrow or collected in situ. I now have 3 full water butts which will help hugely this year - last summer I didnβt have any water butts and it was a nightmare!

Shed run off collection device?1

Yep! A game changer!2

Gym this morning. Iβm back in the routine after months of up and down effort due to injuries. I actually felt stronger leaving the gym rather than exhausted.3
-
Major progress, Yooly! Congratulations.1

Gym tomorrow morning. Iβm able to increase speed, reps and weights slowly. Incremental improvements each time.2

Woohoo 14 minutes rowing yesterday. Almost didn't start (after trying for a week) but I was on the phone with my ex husband/co grand parent talking about bringing a LOT of Lego to Newfoundland when I go in April (he has many hockey bags he uses for drum stuff so they seemed like a good bet )
We were talking about exercise ... I was whining about not having really started again other than walking despite knowing how much strength/muscle I lost last year. He is still a great support and knows me well enough to motivate me to get to it. I got to it I am pretty blessed.
Google didn't play Papa Was a Rolling Stone this time when I asked her to play Funk. But still lots of lively music to keep my rowing down the river (not rowing against the current yet!)2 -
Working on upping my NEAT - still getting it together. Most days now I don't have a "lie down" which I'm sure is going to make a significant difference. I was hoping I would get past that. Really easy after a year of one recovery after another to have it become the new lifestyle. Maybe I won't!!!2

Say NO to the down!1

Gym this morning felt good π. I was able to add weights, stay on the treadmill longer and faster with greater incline. Feels like something is changing for the better. Iβm still going very easy on the wrist/shoulder exercises until I see the orthopedic surgeon next week. The pain has muted somewhat to a dull ache.4

Good for you, Yooly - you are a trooper!!!!!!1

Sounds like exercise to me!2 -
4 solid hours of digging today - finally we have a little sunshine!3
-
Woohoo! I hear that I am going home to spring!
Definitely still winter here. I missed my early Monday morning flight because the highway was so bad and just St. John's that we had to turn back. I'm at the airport early today because the snow blew in again and I didn't wanna have to pay for another missed flight.
It was nice Having extra time with the boy β₯οΈ3 -
Nice having extra time for sure.
Ticket change prices.... definitely not nice.
hope your trip is smooth.1 -
I'm going to be sore tomorrow...6 hours of digging...I dug up an entire tree! Admittedly it was a reasonably small one, but even so the root ball was bigger than a 1970s Space Hopper...
