Gertie and Jeeves! lollll love it !

ahhhh, the pantry project begins ! so excited for you. So, yesterday, I ended up taking a rest day. I iced my knee for about 6 hrs. I'm not entirely sure why, but it was not only swollen yesterday, but super painful, too. I took 3 walks when we went to dinner the other night - we walked to and from the restaurant, and I took one of Katie's dogs for a walk after we got home, too (Bindi and I always go for a walk, it's our thing 😎💗). And then I was sitting in a chair afterwards for a couple hours while we played a card game (sitting for long periods is painful/causes swelling). PLUS, the drive back and forth to Katie's is about 15 mins longer than my pain-free range for sitting in place, so there was that, too. But if all of that was going to cause swelling and pain, it should have happened on Thu, not yesterday! I dunno. Maybe the drive back and forth to the gym in the other town was the straw that put it over the threshhold?

Yes there's usually LOTS of precip with nor'easters (rain, or big snow - nor'easters are typically fall/winter storms), but there hasn't been an especially lot of rain, I have to say. It's kind of long lasting, tho. The storm-ish weather, not the rain. The rain has been off and on, rather than constant. i haven't actually watched a radar map weather report, only read the forecasts, maybe we're on the outer bands of it or something? I dunno. The poor weather will continue thru tomorrow, but the great thing about this storm is - there's always GORGEOUS weather in the aftermath! That means Monday. And Monday is when we have our sunset schooner ride up north booked! It's about 2.5 hrs. Monday is predicted to be blue skies, and 10 degrees warmer. (We've been in the 50s the last few days).

Yesterday, and today, didn't go as expected, but that's ok too. About 1pm a friend texted us and asked if we wanted company yesterday. My 3 weeks of being sick was cleaned up in 5 hours, I got food not only planned, but ran out to get supplies and cooked! :) It was a long night and I finally had to kick them out at 12:30. I was exhausted!

We pivoted from working on the pantry to working on the bar shed and smoking chicken thighs/wings. I also bought mac and cheese from Costco, and smoked that as well. They brought a salad as well! We had drinks, lots of fun, some roasted marshmallows as well. I was up 4.5 pounds today… sigh.

Today we started pressure washing the new to us shelving, but the pressure washer was broke, so we ended up going to Lowe's and getting a new pressure washer. We put ribs on the smoker, they are almost done and are smelling amazing! I got 1+ of a million shelves washed. Will focus on that tomorrow.

I was able to finish out our Hogwarts team challenge, too. It's been a busy weekend! But it's also been a fun/restful weekend. This weekend also highlighted the little things we think are "fun" are mind blowing to others (we have an icemaker in the bar shed), and we are feeling so blessed and content tonight.

I hope your weekend has gone well, too! BTW, here's our dinner for tonight…

Checking in from Inn at Ocean's Edge, up in Lincolnville, Maine!

heh, really enjoyed your update. I lol'd at '1 of a million shelves'! 😂

We had a nice lunch on the way up. It was still drizzly/overcast today, but we went for a (very) short walk around the grounds. Eric, his mom, and Katie went down the long steps to the rocky shore, but wet metal steps and many upon many wet rounded-by-the-sea stones and boulders didn't sound like a great idea to me, so I went in and snuck in a 30-min bike ride in the workout room. Eric, Katie and Pat didn't stay long at the rocky shore, cuz Eric took a tumble on the wet rocks (SO glad I didn't go down there! and SO glad he wasn't badly hurt). They came in while I was still on my ride, so they stopped at the pub, then played cards. We had about an hour to kill before dinner.

Had a great (so yummy) dinner at an Italian place in town that had lots of different kinds of foods, not just pasta. I had charred octopus on chickpea salad. GREAT flourless chococlate torte drizzled with raspberry syrup for dessert, along with a glass of port.

Took a massively long shower, and now sitting in front of the fireplace in my room, with my comfy absorbant hotel robe on, letting my hair dry, and putting my legs up on pillows stacked on the ottoman. I feel decadently delightfully exhausted and stuffed.

Good thing there's no scale here tho - I don't even wanna know. lol

Tomorrow we're having full breakfast at the main inn, down the hill. A late big lunch/early dinner, b/c we have a 2.5 hr sunset schooner ride booked (no food, tho). We'll probably hit Seadog Brewing Pub in town, after, as most restaurants seem to close at 8.

Planning on the infinity pool and hottub tomorrow, between breakfast and late lunch. Katie is booking in for a massage. Pat wants to walk around in town, she and Eric's Dad used to come up here, whenever they'd come out to Maine to visit us, so she has favorite walks stored in her memory, that she'd like to revisit.

Happy Tuesday! Hope you are having a blast! Sounds like so far you are! I hope Eric's tumble wasn't too impactful and sounds like you made a good choice with the bike ride! Hope the infinity pool and hot tub were fun! Sounds like you are having great food and a ton of relaxation! Just what the doctor ordered!

We got all the wire racks cleaned yesterday (Labor of love, let me tell you) and the pantry cleaned out. Tonight we will hang the strip thingies that the shelve holders go into, then take them out! LOL The space has not been painted and we can see clearly where the studs are marked, so we will screw them in, take them down, then paint, as the pre-drilled holes will still be visible. Instead of slapping it together quickly, we are taking our time to do it right. Pulled out some of the floor tiles and washed them, pulled out the fridge and freezer so we can paint behind them. I'm really excited to see how it all turns out!

I can't believe it's the last week of the challenge! I'm finally starting to feel myself again, so plan on kicking it in gear again this week. I still have a sore throat, but it's tolerable.

    Today's Plan:

    1. walk at lunch (we strategically make sure the treadmills were still accessible with everything pulled out of the pantry!)
    2. Clean my office
    3. fold towels
    4. pick up kitchen
    5. work on pantry after work
    6. pick up camper from the weekend (make the bed/put it away)

I think that looks good for now! :)

Happy Wednesday ! We did have a lovely time. How come I always come back tired, tho :p. Slept 9h 45 min last night! :o PLUS a 54 min nap before that~!

But yea, Lovely time, overly active, ofc, so knees are swollen again (and scale jumped 2 lbs too). That is swoll tho, it'll come off. Did lots of walking (double daily steps), went on a sunset schooner ride, swam laps in the heated saltwater pool, and enjoyed the jacuzzi, ofc ;-). Got in a 30-min recumbant bike ride in the (very limited) fitness room. Played cards with hubby, daughter, and mother-in-law outside by the pool, and in mil's room after dinners. Lovely full included breakfasts - I tried chia pudding (with berries & granola) for the first time, and overnight oats, as well - tho they were served warm, not cold, which I'm pretty sure I'm grateful for. They were delicious. Came with warm milk, maple syrup, and brown sugar for add-ins. Enjoyed fresh fruit bowls at breakfasts, as well. Really love having cut fruit if someone else is doing the work ;-).

I had two different versions of Haddock Reubens (I think this is becoming my favorite sandwich, lol). Sampled some lobster stew, and crab cakes. Had charred octopus with greens, and some kind of pasta dish with chicken, at the same place I got the octopus. It was called florentine something. Came with spinach fettucini, chicken bits that were packed with flavor, some kind of wine cream sauce, it was good. Had a port with a flourless chocolate torte, for dessert, as well. Also has a spicy black bean veggie burger (well, half of one). Some other delicious things, but I can't recall now. Coleslaw … 3-bean salad … spinach & tomato quiche … oh! frozen custard. Ya, had some treats, lol (the custard, port, choc torte, a coffee with spirits, a pint of local brew lager).

I can't believe it's the last week of the challenge, either ! MAN, I feel like I'm only just ready for Week 3 :p. WTG on your wire racks ! And wtg on going slow, and doing it right. I absolutely HATE blasting through a project and having it not really right, or not completely correct, or whatever.

That's so neat you take the camper for weekend trips ! I was wondering once about the camper. I remember back in the day, when you and Scott used to sneak out there for some adult time ;-). I was wondering if you used it for away trips too, or if it was like another room, or something like that. Sounds FUN to be able to just get in and drive away, and have your hotel room with you.

Laundry on the docket for today. And unpacking :o. I've been home for 3 days now, and I haven't unpacked yet :p

Happy Friday! Sorry I have been missing this week. I am struggling emotionally with things going on at work and trying not to whine too much about it! :) It's putting me in a dark headspace about my job and that brings my motivation down for everything….

So, I started typing this about 10am, it is now almost 3:30pm! LOL

I'm sorry to disappoint, but we only camped in the backyard! :) but it was fun! Tonight we are "walking to the bar" to relax after the week.

Tomorrow we are going to Mom and Dad's for his 80th birthday! We have quite a few things we need to get for it, but the biggest part is just picking up food and ice and balloons! The rest will be delivered (thank you Amazon!)

I signed up for the 6 week summer camp, but I will be part time. I was pretty much part time this semester and considering headspace and vacations, I will need to give myself some grace.

    Hope your day went well!

Ahhh I totally get that! In fact, I think I said that, lol. I tend to go quiet when the alternative is bringing negativity to the table. Job worrying is completely valid, and even important, so, yes, give yourself grace. And, apology never needed. Xx

Fun! on the backyard camping, love that! I get you, on signing up for part-time. I actually considered it myself, but decided that I might do better with my calorie budget if It counted for 'real' points :-p.

I'm super glad you signed up for the summer term, tho. Summer term was my first term, a few years ago, and it was super fun!! I remember being a little disoriented by being thrown in with a new group of people, and having the rules be stricter, to boot. Ofc, I also hurt my knee just a couple weeks into the gate term, and I disappeared from MFP for 6 mos, altogether. 🤷‍♀️

My friend David - from my former Fitbit steps challenge group - took the last term off. I just messaged him about the new part-time student Hogwarts status, and the looser/fun summer term, in fact. Not sure if he'll sign up again, but maybe! He's carnivore, btw, same as you.

    Happy 80th birthday to Dad!!!

I'm super glad I signed up too! Did the math today and I wanted to lose 5+ pounds this semester, and even with being sick for almost a month, I'm down 8 pounds! I'm really proud of that!

Yesterday morning Scott made us a steak and I made eggs for breakfast and we ate out at the bar shed! it was so nice! The weather was not too hot, we really enjoyed taking a pause!

    image.png image.png

Yesterday was so much fun at my parents! Dad turned 80 yesterday, we did a a lot of grilling/smoking meat and playing cards, having a few drinks…. :)

    image.png image.png image.png image.png

Today getting my head screwed on straight! Hufflepuffs have a 3 week challenge between semesters, so I got that set up the other day! Ok, time for coffee and a little bit of youtube!

Congratulations!! That's amazing progress, Jenny. Proud of you too! Xx

Dad looks so happy. Mom is looking great, too! They both look great! Mom's posture is spectacular.

Yours and Scotts breakfast at the bar shed looks real fun. What are the food pix from Dad's bday party? I can't quite tell what they are.

COOL on the Hufflepuff betwee terms challenge! How was the Hufflepuff team, btw? I have a feeling they're much chattier than the Snakes are ;-).

PS - what kind of 'between terms' challenge do you do?

  • jennywren93
    jennywren93 Posts: 668 Member

So, we made Smoked Turkey Breast and Smoked Beef ribs and grilled chicken wings at mom and dad's for his birthday. We also smoked mac and cheese (I had a small bite, nothing to write home about), a salad and a cucumber salad thingy.

Yes, they are much more chatty, but I feel comfortable with them and the side challenges they have during the term, so I'll stick with them for a while. I was going to try all the houses to see which I felt closest to, but this one just seems to click with me!

    During semester challenge-

6 categories to earn beans each week:

1st part of semester: Freggies, decluttering, rest and relaxation, reading, puzzles/mazes, physical activity

2nd part of semester: Sleep, Music, coloring/games/ home cooking, water, outside activity.

I remembered to claim them on my sheet, but didn't go the extra step of tracking how much of each. Will need to get better about that next semester

    In between tracker:

Bingo card- if you black out the tracker you get a street named after you on the next term tracking card!

There's also a section to set other goals, as well as track your weight, water, food, steps if you want. I'm doing bingo, 9 other things to track and steps :)

I have 20 days until the family reunion, so kicking my tail in gear after being lazy the last 4 weeks being sick. I'm getting my energy back and this is the 2nd day I haven't had a sore throat since getting sick! yay!!!

Heading out for a long walk with Scott, I'm excited! it's been a while and the temp is perfect- 68, will be going up to 80…. sigh…

    Enjoy !!

And, yes, Hufflepuff sounds MUCH more active than the Snakes !! lol

Yea, that was a long time you were sick. Glad you're on the upswing. Did you figure out what it was? Was it covid?

  • jennywren93
    jennywren93 Posts: 668 Member

It was not covid, but a lot of people around here had it. It's what got to mom and caused bacterial pneumonia. I'm assuming that's what I got, but because I was more active and healthier it didn't go full blown….

  • mkksemail
    mkksemail Posts: 3,991 Member

Yea, covid was spiking around here to. Or, is, actually. I just guessed that it spiked there sooner, b/c you had nicer weather sooner. Do you mean your Mom had covid, followed by bacterial pneumonia? And you think you had pneumonia, too? (eeek scary!)

No, mom was negative for Covid.

Just got back from a long walk- 7 miles! Now to cool down, get some hydration going! Will get my house list going soon! For now, I'm going to bask in the a/c knowing I did a great job!

    mkksemail Posts: 3,991 Member

You DID do a great job !!

I have a question. How do you not have to go to the bathroom on that long of a walk? I can never seem to manage over 3 miles without access to a bathroom. It's annoying! :p

  • jennywren93
    jennywren93 Posts: 668 Member

We did stop at 5.6 miles to go to the bathroom. I didn't bring enough water, so I'm pretty parched right now, though!

    Happy Monday!

Today is Sunday for Eric. And not raining (tho it is overcast). Looking to check out a new walk somewhere with Eric. I have some challenge components to tick off - I need to exercise in a new place, exercise outside, exercise with someone else, and have a glass of water after a workout. I figure I cross off all 4 of those challenge squares by walking with Eric outside in a new place. I was just summarizing my knee swoll issues at another chat/challenge. Sharing here too ~

I have had a very low key week. Resting my damn knees so they can shed swoll. Down almost every day since last Wednesday, hopefully it continues or at least holds, thru this Wed! (weights updates in spoiler … )

Last Wed (Wk 4, 199.3) was +3.5 lbs from the prev Wed (Wk 3, 195.8). This is just knee swoll. Or mostly knee swoll. Same thing happened after my NY trip. Wed (Wk 2, 199.4) was +3.9 lbs from its prev Wed (starting weight Wk 1, 196.5). I'm starting to wish I'd used my pre-week weight (pre-week Wed, 197.8) for my starting weight :p .

    Weights so far:

    Wed, pre-week: 197.8

    Wed, Wk 1 starting weight : 196.5 (-1.3 lbs)

    Wed, Wk 2: 199.4 (+2.9 lbs)

    Wed, Wk 3: 195.8 (-3.6 lbs)

    Wed, Wk 4: 199.3 (+3.5 lbs)

    Thu, Wk 4: 197.4 (-1.9 lbs)

Fri, Wk 4: 197.1 (-0.3 lbs, -2.2 lbs since Wed)

Sat, Wk 4: 197.1 (nc, -2.2 lbs since Wed)

Sun, Wk 4: 196.2 (-1.1 lbs, -3.3 lbs since Wed)

Mon, Wk 4: 194.7 (-1.5 lbs, -4.6 lbs since Wed)

    Tue, Wk 4: tbd

    Wed, Wk 4: tbd

    Here's hoping! 🤞🎢 Cheers!

    ~ mk :)

And this is from yesterday, same challenge, about my exercise progress:

Reflection for Week 4 BINGO board :

"Reflect on your exercise progress - Where can you improve? What are you doing well? Share with your team if you like"

I can improve on my consistency with PF workouts and PT exercises. Stretch/Flex, too. I'm doing well with steps, that's pretty much it, tho. My knee(s) keep swelling every time I ramp it up, it's discouraging :-(

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ (more in spoiler … )

As for all the rest of it. The only thing I'm REALLY doing well is improving my green freggies specifically, freggies overall, nuts, and fermented foods intake. My labs show great improvement after a full 12 mos of effort (from May '24 to May '25 - (normalized LDL, brought total chol down further (it was normal before, but better now), normalized A1c (down from 5.8 to 5.3) ), and my doc is happy (as am I!).

As I told my doc, starting from my first elevated LDL (but not total chol) last May of '24, when I said I'd pay attention to my diet and make improvements, and to hold off on statins, I did well the first 6 mos, losing weight ~12 lbs), and normalizing the LDL (and avoiding statins), from May '24 to Nov '24 checkup & labs. Then in the fall and winter '25, I really gave my focus to freggies, and green freggies in particular, and stopped paying attention to calorie counting. I've made great improvements in the freggie zone, but I gained back about 6 lbs over those 6 mos (between my Nov '24 and May '25 checkups/labs). I told my doctor that it's time that I started trying to marry meeting my freggie goals with staying inside my calorie budget. She smiled and agreed, but said, you should be proud, your labs have told the story of the improved quality of food intake - and said, you know, you CAN be healthier when heavy with good diet than skinny and less-good diet!

I am letting my swelling knees interfere with my exercise progress, tho. My goals for 2025 include adding strength training, and adding flex training, to my routines - consistently. I went from none to some, in both areas, so there's def an improvement ;-), but it's not consistent yet, and I know I can do better.

As for my weight … well, I guess I already hit the high and low notes, on that score ;-).

And, this is also from yesterday, from my Greens / Freggies group challenge:

Q: What are you trying to achieve by increasing greens or “nature mades”?

I realized today, it’s less than a month til Summer. It made me think on what I’m trying to achieve.

So I thought I would pose the question to the group - what are you trying to achieve by increasing your greens or less processed plant foods? (I like to call them Nature Mades. 😊”

What are you trying to achieve by increasing greens or “nature mades”?

     I’m trying to lose weight

I’m changing my diet for medical intervention

I’m trying to be healthier in general

A mixture of all the above!

    (continued in spoiler cuz I typed A LOT ;-) … )

I meant to answer this - when I first read it, I didn't know how to answer! Probably the best answer is a mixture of all of the above. After I type, I'm going to copy a reply from another challenge, that reminded me that I didn't come back here and actually answer! (sorry, SG!) (Also, SG, I typed love letters to you in two places in May, I'll have to find them and repeat them here. One was in our Spring Challenge, one was in my Hogwarts Challenge; the copy / paste I'll put in below is from my Biggest Loser Challenge - which I just re-added, after a 2 yr hiatus, 4 wks ago.)

When I first started trying to lose weight, in late July, of 2021, my general goals were to improve my diet after eating basically 7-eleven food for almost 5 yrs straight (holicrap!). My husband used to own a 7-eleven, we finally off-loaded it in Apr '22. The last 5 yrs were intense - I worked 16 or more hours a day, 6 days a week, ate ALL my meals there, and ate 'write-off' 7-eleven food on my day off :o. Between April and Jun of '21, I quit smoking. AGAIN. I had been 5+ yrs smoke-free, but somewhere during that stupid crazy time at my husband's store, I picked it up again. (2019, maybe?)

So, my first goal was just to IMPROVE that shitshow of a diet (lol). I set am ambitious goal of consuming 3 cups of veggies and 2 cups of food/day. Up from zero and zero (!), b/c I knew that 'fruits and vegetables were good for you'. I didn't like them - but I knew I should eat them. I set out on a program of trying all kinds of ways of cooking veggies, in a quest to find a way of cooking, and a stable of veggies I could tolerate (lol, I was like … REALLY bad on the freggie score!).

After logging my food for a very short time (a few wks?), I realized, I only hit my fiber goals on the days that I hit my 'fruits and vegetable' goals, but sometimes not even then! So, I added 'try for 14g of fiber per 1k of calories consumed' as a nutrition goal. Then I became vaguely aware that my protein intake was super low. Usually in the 10%-14% range, sometimes even lower. Yup, I'm a rice and beans and cereal and breads girl at heart ;-). I bought a bunch of Orgain vegan protein powder, with the goal of learning to make a smoothie (never did), but implemented instead a habit I continue to this day - drinking 'protein tea'. Instead of lightening my morning hot beverage with milk, or oat milk, or light cream, or whatever, I started adding half a serving of protein powder, and a full serving of non-fat dry milk, to my cuppa.

I embarked on a late summer/early fall program of cooking lots and lots of veggies, and stuffing them into morning scrambled eggs. (heh) That, plus a half can of Irish baked beans, and I was hitting my veggie goal by breakfast ! ( I landed on a full tomato, a half a large onion, broiled til charred, added to my eggs, for 2 veg servings (notice - no green), and a half can of Batchelor's Baked Beans for my 3rd veggie serving (well, the UK guidelines said 1 serving of the beans per day could count towards my 5 a day ;-), so I counted it!). I ate this daily for a few months (!), and started using Carb Balance tortillas to hit my fiber goal. These, plus my protein tea, were the backbones of my diet. I would make HUGE batches of broiled tomatoes, broiled onions, and scrambled eggs. I wouldn't even chop up the onions or tomatoes, just slice them in half, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic salt and pepper, and cook them - for a long time. The eggs, I'd make 18-egg or 24-egg batches at a time, then just 'assemble' each morning. Two eggs worth of scrambled eggs, 1 oz of cheese, 1 full tomato, 1/2 an onion, half a can of beans, cook in the mic, & eat.

After just a couple/few mos on this veggie program, in Oct '21, I got a huuugggee steam burn on my fingers, when I was opening the oven to pull out a big batch of broiled veggies. I forget if it was the onions or the tomatoes, it was one of them, tho. That wasn't so bad, nothing that wouldn't heal - except I have super-reactive skin. I'm 'allergic' to getting wounded, and break out in rashes after a cut or scrape, quite often. I'd had a few pretty bad rashes as a kid - over 2 weeks, full body rashes - and 1 in my early 20s. But nothing since then. Well, this time, it got away from me. I had a rash for 7 weeks. Palms of my hands, bottom of my feet. Meds from the doc helped, but only for a short time. (Prednisone, they don't like to use long courses of that.). Anyway, enough of that, the only point was, I lost my veggie intake habit during these 7 weeks.

When I was (finally) better, I put my attention back on trying to lose weight. I took up a daily stepping habit of 10k steps/day in Dec '21 (continued that until early Sep '23!). I continued my focus on fiber and protein, but satisfied the fiber with Carb Balance tortillas, and didn't return to my Freggie focus.

In May '23, after Fitbit had exploded their challenges/community features, I migrated to MFP. And I saw a 'May Green Smoothie" challenge on the Challenges board, took a big sigh, and signed up ;-). That's where I met the lovely and inspiring Mary, aka @SafariGalNYC ! I did 'my best' or what I thought was my best, and tried to add veggies to my diet, somehow/someway. I never did make a smoothie, that whole month (lol).

Drifted away from MFP in Fall '23, after injuring my (2nd) knee on a cobblestone street in Istanbul. Wandered back in the Spring '24, after I'd re-gained the 30 lbs I had lost between Jul '21 and Sep '23. (sigh)

That summer, MFP decided to blow up THEIR communtity features, and ax their Newsfeed. I had re-connected with SG on the Newsfeed. She reached out, and asked about starting up a new Greens challenge. Took me some hemming and hawing, and dragging my feet ;-), but I finally got on board after buying myself a Vitamix, so I could finally (!) make a freaking smoothie 🤣. (I've only made a handful of them so far, since last fall! lol …. I got those batches of juices and smoothies, and used those for a while).

Well, Mary knows how much I fought myself the whole process. And I'm still not doing great if I use her as a measuring stick, but I'm doing SO freaking well if I use my former self as a measuring stick. And well, let me just take this opportunity to thank you once again, Miss Mary. You've been such an inspiration to me, and fantastic influence. I'm sorry I'm not the same for you, but what I can do is I can give you my gratitude! Xx

Okay, that was a book ;-).

WAY too long, didn't read version: I started on this journey simply to 'eat better'. Then I also considered it as part of my weight loss strategy. And THEN, after getting an elevated LDL cholesterol and elevated A1c reading, I also considered it as part of a medical intervention strategy. So, really, my reasons are a mixture of all. But it started out as simply trying to eat better/healthier.

    Copy/paste from BLC:

(already copied above, that was the Bingo Wk 4 question)

Now, none of that is directly related to FLYing, but when I'm talking about lists and stuff, I don't always share a lot, bc I'm talking about lists, but I wanted to take time to specifically share Xx

As for my today list, my main focus is that walk with Eric. I've some vague add'l plans, but I'm not confident that I'll do them today, so I'll hold off on that until tomorrow.

    Cheers!

Thank you for sharing all of that! I will go back and read the really long one later (it was REALLY LONG and I want to give it my full attention!)

Scott actually went on a walk without me yesterday at lunch! I was so proud of him! I am usually the one pushing him, so for him to go alone was a big leap! And we did a broken up 5k after work. We took a winding walk to 5 guys (1.84 miles) had a patty melt, got some water and walked home (1.76 miles). I got new shoes this weekend and the 7 miles from Sunday and 3+ yesterday I'm not sure if the muscle yuck is from Sunday or the new shoes yesterday. I've got the new shoes strapped on today already!

I have a new plan for work today. I am going to centrally locate my laptop so I can get to either end of the house with my headset so that I can do some much needed cleaning! :) We were told last week to join meetings so we can see how THEY handle them, so that's what I'm going to do… It's like working, but not! :) They see me making an effort, but I don't have to do all the tracking, etc that I would if I were actually running the meeting! :)

    So, Plans for today:

    1. Fill up water bottles
    2. clean bathroom counter
    3. Clean litter boxes
    4. Un/reload DW
    5. clean kitchen counters
    6. Walk at lunch/after work
    7. Laundry
    8. Run Jeeves (Gertie can't be run due to construction zone downstairs, still working on pantry buildout)

ooo, new shoes can be tricky. Might be a combo of both! What kind of shoes? Do you love them?

Love the relocation plan for work! Enjoy the free-roaming! Are you set up in the kitchen or living room? based on your list, I'm going to guess kitchen :).

My yesterday, I went on a 1hr 43 min walk & shop with Eric. My other challenge had a 'workout in a new venue or place' challenge, so we walked to Riverton Trolley park, then to a section of the Penobscot River Trail, then stopped at the supermarket on the way home, and 'rucked' home. Well I rucked, Eric carried ;-). I wanted to see if they had some Good Culture cottage cheese, we ended up having to buy 2 shopping bags, cuz we filled them with pork chops, bacon, ham steaks, peaches, bananas, 2 bags of new potatoes (gold, and red), little peppers, onions, greens, and about a dozen chicken dumpling soups that were on clearance, that Eric wanted. A couple other things, too, can't remember now. We put the heavy things in one bag, bc I was going to sling the handles onto my shoulders and use it like a backpack. Eric worries about looking odd, so he won't make a backpack out of a shopping bag, lol. Plus, his shoulders are broader, too, so it mightn't work, who knows ;-).

Apparently 'rucking' is a new fad, who knew? I started doing it in 2021, when I took up my 10k/day 18 mos stepping streak - I'd walk to the supermarket several days a week, pick up a few things, and bring them home, slung on my back.

My today plan includes Planet Fitness, a flex vid workout at home, some arm punches, modified jumping jacks, and pushups. Stopping at Whole Foods to do a couple Amazon returns. And a couple other things, that are sort of amorphous at the moment, not sure if they'll be today's plan, or tomorrow's. We'll see.

I put photos from my yesterday outside workout, and my last week one, in another thread yesterday. I'll add them here too :)

My kitchen/dining room is the exact middle of the house, so it's a good central location for what I want to do today! :) the range of my headset to the laptop will be the full house, instead of in my office at the very back of the house. Scott is off to work today- had to go in- so I'll be home alone until after 5. He's trying to work 6-5 right now due to how much work they have, and OT is always a good thing! :)

Yes, Rucking is so the new buzz thing lately! Scott got us a couple weighted vests on sale (can hold up to 40 pounds!). I usually don't do them outside (they look like a black life vest! lol), but will throw it on while I'm doing my cleaning today! I'm with Eric… no looking weird outside ;) Sounds like you have a great plan for your fitness today!

    Currently:

DW un/reloaded with water bottles on the bottom rack. I hand wash the lids, but they'll be ready to fill as soon as the DW is done! :)

I've started some picking up of counters, organizing the other dirty dishes. I wanted to make this a light wash because it's less effort for me! :) Next wash will be plates/mugs that need to be rinsed before going in.

Wonderful pictures!!! Looks like a good time was had by all! The sunset cruise looks like it was really fun!!! And the lush green of the new walk! Will you be walking there again?

I didn't get everything done today I wanted to, but I made a dent! :) There's always tomorrow, right? Progress not perfection! Housework done imperfectly still blesses the house!

Scott isn't home yet (it's after 6) so we won't walk after he gets home, the smoked chuck roast isn't done yet (looks like it won't for a while) so I think I'm going to ask Scott to pick us up something. I think it's got a good couple hours to go.

LOL " a couple hours to go" turned into it getting done at 1 am!!!! LOL I will be having an extra cup of coffee this morning! Really glad I had Scott pick up stuff on the way home!

I am getting my head screwed on straight today, trying to dot all the I's and cross all the T's. I am trying to be more organized in my household. My lists have gone untouched most of the days I have posted them. :(

    Today's list:

    1. Make a plan for the next 3 weeks to accomplish my between terms tasks (done)
    2. wash sheets/make bed
    3. 2 loads of laundry (so 3 total)
    4. fill water bottles
    5. clean off counters
    6. Clean off bathroom counter
    7. clean off table, take stuff to bar shed/camper
    8. Strength training
    9. Walk at lunch
    10. Walk after work

Oh my !!! 1a is VERY late for you !! (not for me, but I don't get up at 5 and 6a !

Good morning! Having my protein tea, and checking in on MFP. Thx! on pix! the green in those pix IS so lush … b/c the leaves are still brand new, lol. We only just got leaves a few weeks ago :o. Yes, I think we will do that walk again. While we were doing it, Eric said, "I like this one!".

And on ur lists, ur doing great! Give yourself credit. My today goals include possibly another PF visit (I skipped the bike yesterday), and cooking the stuffed pork chops (I think, we'll see :p ). Getting my other challenge's trackers set up, and my plan for the week set, too.
