Pinkypan1 & AnnofB-As one of the people who does not even speak until 10 AM and is married to a happy morning person-Bah Humbug! However, where are all of you at 2 AM when the moon is beautiful!!!! That is when I am fill of perkiness and joy!

    Zichab - LOL!

I'm glad you are representing the "Dark Side" - showing em' that night people ARE happy and bursting with energy; just at a different time. Only after dark, like vampires, sort of.

Just to let you know, I'm not a morning person. However PinkPan1's post made me almost want to be a morning person. You and I are in the same boat. My DH is also a morning person. I finally got him to stop calling me "Mary Sunshine" which really irritated me 6 am as I dragged myself out of bed to get ready for work. Now I'm retired and I get up when I please which is well after sunrise.

I'm salute you resilience, making it to 2 am. I can't last that long any more. Enjoy it while you're young!

Oh my gosh AnnofB-where did that Mary Sunshine stuff come from! My DH says that to me in the sense of "Well aren't we just the Mary Sunshine this morning" usually before I have had any coffee! GGGRRRRR! I am 61 and I still love to be up all night! It is so peaceful and quiet and I get so much done. I have tried being a morning person but I just can't do it! Maybe when I am 70, I'll try it again, but for now, I am loving the Vampire life!

PinkyPan1 listen to the body and be good to it- you are doing great-
Supplemama- holding the door for ya don't fret you are almost there!

Everyone is doing great - I am both a morning person and a night owl - quiet at both ends makes me a happy girl. Or as they say I like to see them coming and a going.

Good morning! I did the Women's Walk 2 miles with Leslie today. My 2 grandsons are about to get dropped off for the day so I will hopefully get another 2-3 miles in before bed tonight. Fingers crossed. Have a wonderful day everyone.

    Zichab,
Lol... i thought you were maybe in your late 30's, early 40's. You are blessed with youthful genes apparently. And being a night owl must be helping to keep you young too. Thank heaven for coffee! Had to fast for some tests the other day no caffeine for 24 hours. That's the longest I've ever gone without caffeine. "Mary Sunshine" I was not. We'll have to look up the Mary Sunshine thing and see if we can have it struck from the English language.

    Have a great evening

Starttergal53 62 miles is great :flowerforyou: . The problem with vacation is that you eat a LOT. So far two Italian restaurants, one Mexican and one from Argentina  . The only way to keep the calories at bay is to exercise :grumble: .

    today: 10 miles
    total: 110 miles.

Here is a short story I read a long time ago. WARNING: DO NOT READ if you are sentimental and prone to cry.

    MOTHER FORGETS

Listen, angel: I am saying this as you lie asleep, one little paw crumpled under your cheek and the blond curls stickily wet on your damp forehead. I have stolen into your room alone. Just a few minutes ago, as I sat reading my book in the library, a stifling wave of remorse swept over me. Guiltily I came to your bedside.

These are the things I was thinking, angel: I had been cross to you. I scolded you as you were dressing for school because you gave your face merely a dab with a towel. I took you to task for not cleaning your shoes. I called out angrily when you threw some of your things on the floor.

At breakfast I found fault, too. You spilled things. You gulped down your food. You put your elbows on the table. You spread butter too thick on your bread. And as you started off to play and I made for my train, you turned and waved a hand and called, “Goodbye, Mummy!” and I frowned, and said in reply, “Hold your shoulders back!”

Then it began all over again in the late afternoon. As I came up the road I spied you, down on your knees, playing with the other girls. There were holes in your stockings. I humiliated you before your girl friends by marching you ahead of me to the house. Stockings were expensive—and if you had to buy them you would be more careful! Imagine that, my angel, from a mother!

Do you remember, later, when I was reading in the library, how you came in timidly, with a sort of hurt look in your eyes? When I glanced up over my book, impatient at the interruption, you hesitated at the door. “What is it you want?” I snapped.

You said nothing, but ran across in one tempestuous plunge, and threw your arms around my neck and kissed me, and your small arms tightened with an affection that God had set blooming in your heart and which even neglect could not wither. And then you were gone, pattering up the stairs.

Well, angel, it was shortly afterwards that my book slipped from my hands and a terrible sickening fear came over me. What has habit been doing to me? The habit of finding fault, of reprimanding—this was my reward to you for being a girl. It was not that I did not love you; it was that I expected too much of youth. I was measuring you by the yardstick of my own years.

And there was so much that was good and fine and true in your character. The little heart of you was as big as the dawn itself over the wide hills. This was shown by your spontaneous impulse to rush in and kiss me good night. Nothing else matters tonight, angel. I have come to your bed-side in the darkness, and I have knelt there, ashamed!

It is a feeble atonement; I know you would not understand these things if I told them to you during your waking hours. But tomorrow I will be a real mummy! I will chum with you, and suffer when you suffer, and laugh when you laugh. I will bite my tongue when impatient words come. I will keep saying as if it were a ritual: “She is nothing but a girl - a little girl!”

I am afraid I have visualized you as a woman. Yet as I see you now, angel, crumpled and weary in your cot, I see that you are still a baby. Yesterday you were in my arms, your head on my shoulder. I have asked too much, too much.”

    Listen, angel: ..........
  I am surely one of those sentimental mothers/grandmothers who refuses to heed warnings not to read the story, and foolishly takes the chance that I might cry.
Precisely because the the story is titled "MOTHER FORGETS"

Good morning friends. "It's a beautiful day to take a walk!" I hope you are all doing well. I am still unable to walk outside due to shin splints. I know I should be resting 100% but I can not help it. I find they do not hurt when I do the videos. This morning I did 3 Fast Miles with Leslie. Keep on walking and smile, smile, smile!

Healthymom_5, yes indeed feel free to report any of your other exercise you do, whether in conjunction with your walk or instead of a walk, or another instructor's walk DVD all are great things to share with us and do! Diversity in exercise keeps our body from getting used to the same ole thing all the time. I like to keep my body guessing from time to time, both in exercise and with cals eaten or kind of food. Been working for me  .
