Won't have access to my ticker until tomorrow night, so I'll just put my mileage here (so I don't forget it) and update my ticker later. I got 19.2 miles in on the bike today.

While I'm still feeling disappointed about my knee, the spinning didn't seem to bother it at all, so that's good. And, it looks like I might be getting trained to be an official spin instructor - which would be AWESOME. Earn a little "walkin' around" money doing something I would be doing anyway... That's kind of exciting :)

Back on the bike. Had my clip in pedals, cleats and bike checked the other day. I just can't get rid of the apprehension of when I go to stop I am going to crash because I can't unclip. Even though I am able to ride just fine, and unclip and stop, I just keep getting this feeling I am going to fall again. Does this ever go away? Got miles to report today, just not what I was hoping for.

    07/15 - 1.5 miles walking
    07/16 - 7.0 miles biking
    07/17 - 14.0 miles biking
    01/18 - 10.0 miles biking

    Total: 184.0 miles

Yes Dave, my new goal is 250
..adding 7.13 walking miles for today, mother nature was helping us out with all the fires, but dang interfered with some good biking mileage.

I wish I had some "from experience" encouraging words for you - but I don't. I don't have discouraging words either - I just don't ride bike outside - I'm too afraid (although I have been thinking I should conquer that fear). I really hope that, with time, and getting more rides under your belt, that the fear will dissipate. It is certainly not any kind of fun being timid and afraid of getting hurt. Hang in there, keep trying... and if, after a reasonable amount of time, you're still not feeling comfortable, go back to straps instead of the clips. There is nothing wrong with that, and no one will think less of you. Even if you feel like the clips made the ride more smooth, or whatever, it's not worth it if you're riding in fear and the clips are killing your joy of cycling.

Rode my bicycle to the gym instead of driving (10.4 miles round trip), lifted for almost an hour, and walked a fast mile on the treadmill before I left. MTD 83.5

Adding another 40 miles and jumping my goal to 700. That makes 503 out of 700.

I added 6 this morning. Set a PR on a 5 mile run (9:33 average). Working towards a 10K in under 60 in September.

I'll update my ticker tonight or tomorrow.

That's pretty cool!! Sounds like a great move!! And glad you're able to do something that doesn't bug your knee. :)

ANACONDA469 - I have to be honest....I don't think it ever goes completely away. At least not for a really long time. It stays just to remind you to unclip EARLY anytime you slow down for anything...take at least one foot out. Or be ready to swing your heel out.

I think I asked you this already, but you did get them adjusted lighter so it's easier to unclip, right? Maybe go a little looser yet, at least until you start having problems with them coming out too* easily or at unplanned times. :) That might ease your mind if it takes almost no effort to unclip.

You are doing great though so keep hanging in there and it will become second nature eventually. They make pedaling so much more efficient and the benefits outweigh that occasional panic, I think* so anyway.
