Hm, so I couldn't wait until Sunday and I had extra calories, so I picked up some Talenti peppermint bark. It was good, but it doesn't seem all that different from what I'd expect from a mint chocolate chip. It was creamy, and the chocolate pieces were great, but it didn't seem much like a seasonal flavor. I think it could be pretty standard year round.

Of course, mint chocolate chip is one of my favorite ice cream flavors, so I think it's pretty good. And now I'm just annoyed that it's not available year round.

That's what I had tonight . I thought the same also.

The "ice cream alternatives" thread has had 3 new suggestions of frozen bananas in the last hour, plus, an upside down can of coconut milk... The weekend forum posters are in high gear...

No it was the one who was so pro arctic zero. She said, "I don't know why you are being such a little snatch about people that have different tastes than you, this is a support forum". The girl who called me crabby butt sent me a PM apologizing saying she didn't know I couldn't take a joke. I told her I'm probably one of the most sarcastic people you'll encounter and if I'm going to get upset about things on an ice cream thread, I probably don't belong on the Internet...

I took my crabby butt to a a little ice cream shop that makes everything in house and they have the normal flavors but also fun stuff like Oreo Speedwagon and Thai Peanut Sriacha. Delicious...

I hate apologies that are really insults. If you're going to add another insult then just own it; don't cloak it in a fake apology.

And of course we have to have the one who gets angry that people are being "mean" and starts calling everyone names.

She's adorable, Nink! And now I'm wanting my niece here even more!

Topic...I checked out of that thread sometime yesterday. And got me some Ben & Jerrys Salted Caramel Core this morning (since I've been on a Talenti kick I've been scorning my favorite men!). Not sure how I feel about it yet. The salt definitely kicked in towards the end of my bowl.

I liked the core in that one but not the base.

My local Safeway is expanding its ice cream and gelato choices. Stopped by for a few essentials on a donut run for the kids, and saw that they are now carrying a few flavors of Steve's, and a fair bit of 3 Twins. Walked out of the aisle with a Steve's Mexican Chili Chocolate, but later put it back (since I still have GF Choc available) and ended up with a half gallon of Tillamook Marionberry Pie - Madagasgar Vanilla with pie crust mix-ins and marionberry swirl. No idea when I'll get to tasting it (I still have some Tillamook Hazelnut / salted caramel in the freezer) but I am a sucker for fruit ice creams *if done well* (which is not the case most of the time, IMHO). We shall see.

People want someone to blame, they don't want to take any responsibility, and they want to make this so horrible that when they give up .. well it wasn't my fault. The forums have always been filled with it, but before the great downgrade we had more people on the side of reason and science. Also, I think not having the tickers, start date with MFP and being able to click past comments of people on the threads has made it harder for the new people to see who they should be paying attention to

Not sure who I was kidding . . . I can't wait eons to try my new Tillamook.

    z55xpp176a4z.jpg

This is the Marionberry Pie described a few posts above. Good; another winner from Tillamook for me, and now Tillamook is probably my favorite "non super premium" ice cream (i.e., a brand you buy by the half gallon and at a price for a high end pint). Rich and creamy, and lots of berry flavor. It is quite sweet, and if you don't like berries, you won't like this ice cream. Mix-in pie crust adds a nice touch. My first bite really did bring back memories of marionberry pie from long ago (it was a serious thing years ago, at least on the west coast). I would like to see a bit more vanilla flavor in the base, but that might take away from the overall pie taste. Pretty good for a fruit-based ice cream, which as I said above, is hard to do very well in my experience.

I just did an ice cream inventory myself since we finished off two pints last week... I have Talento Salted Caramel, Talenti Caramel Cookie Crunch (Which I always think should be better than it is) half a Steve's Cold Brewed Coffee and Cinnamon, Steve's Mexican Chili Chocolate, and our local gelato shops Pumpkin and Tiramisu which were from the fall and hiding way in the back of the freezer! So excited to try some of those I had forgotten about! And I have that Vosges Salt and Smoke candy bar that I bought this weekend still to try!

I also didn't care for the Talenti Caramel Cookie Crunch.

I have three Talenti Egg Nogs (would've bought more for $2.50 but Giant decided to jack it up again to around $5.00), two Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Buns (my favorite ice cream ever) & Candy Bar Pie, Turkey Hill Whoopie Pie, & a generic Peppermint.

I'm thinking once I get down in these flavors I might buy a few Talenti Southern Butter Pecan & possibly order a few Jeni's flavors that seem interesting.
