I think I'm going to cry. This is probably one of the nicest things anyone has ever has ever done for me. I got a postal service ticket that someone had sent me something. I thought maybe I was being sued lol. It took me 5 days to get to the post office due to my ridiculous work schedule. Today I'm off work so I figured let's go see what the bad news is. I go and stand on line for 1 hour and finally get my package. It's from someone named Amber. I only know one person with that name but not even in real life, just on MFP. How did she get my address? I open the box and I find.......cookies. The my better half tells me Amber contacted her to surprise me. I'm blown away. Also, the cookies are 10 days old and we just each at a White chocolate macadamia nut and it was so soft and organic. Just amazing. Thank you so much Amber.
I got:
Toffee almond granola
Homemade vanilla bean caramels
Toffee shortbread cookies
Brown butter chocolate chunk cookies
White chocolate snickerdoodle with Cinnamon (For Dora)
White chocolate snickerdoodle without Cinnamon
That's really sweet! Well done, Acrylics!

Here's my contribution for the night...
Hubby has a Work Xmas Party on Wednesday so I made this:
Eggnog pie. Yes, Eggnog. With actual rum in it too! Hehehe. It actually turned out REALLY light and creamy, but with that distinct eggnog flavor. I'm quite pleased with it! The recipe said it was enough for 1 9-inch pie, but I ended up with enough for 2 pies. I tried using regular shells you bake in the oven, but they folded over, so I scratched that and went with a graham cracker crust and a shortbread crust. So yummy and they still have to sit in the fridge for 4 hours to set. Good thing it made 2 pies though instead of 1, because I don't think 1 is going to even be close to enough!
And here's the recipe I got for it:

Not my best photograph. I was in a hurry, but I wish I had rotated it so you could see more of the snowflakes.
That's gorgeous! Love the wrapper too. Every part of the decor is in sync.
It's beautiful!
I love the gingerbread houses and Cortelli's snickerdoodle story, too.0 -

Hmmmm, if I have to make dessert this year, I might just do this one!0 -
At the suggestion of someone in the "office food" thread, I decided to make shortbread-peanut butter sandwiches...

Back for food porn and because I just have to post this... Chestnut chocolate log.
I made a second one for today and it's twice as big. Put a bit more chestnut cream this time too. We'll see how it turns out, the first one was fantastic.0 -
I don't think I ever posted this pic either - my kids got NinjaBread Men cookie cutters for Christmas from Santa and we had a lot of fun decorating them... (needless to say cake/cookie/cupcake decorating is not my forte...)

I got my mom the "Walking Gingerdead Men" set because she loves the Walking Dead. Hahaha.
Yellow/Black Ninja is totally rocking it.0 -

Savory or Sweet? I am calling it sweet. I am on a seafood kick, and I may have posted something similar almost a year ago.
I recognize that this isn't the most visually appetizing dish (and please ignore my broken bowl). But this is tasty, and more tasty this time around then the last I made it.
Inspired to make this by Kruggeri's posted pic of the Grapefruit / Tequila / Chili / Honey sorbet. This is Orange / Bourbon / Habanero / Chocolate shrimp. Original recipe that I've made before calls for regular chili (less spicy) and sherry instead of bourbon (and large prawns). I like it better with bourbon and habanero. Anyway - the sauce involves bourbon, orange juice and dark chocolate. The shrimp are quickly fried in an EVOO that previously lightly fried habanero / ginger / garlic (removed and retained) and then after cooking the shrimp / prawns, the garlic habanero ginger is added back into the pan, along with the orange juice / bourbon / chocolate sauce for a few minutes of stirring to set it up and make it glossy.
Since the photo is not terribly appetizing, I'll just leave the aftermath.

Is it less impressive if I post the recipe from a cookbook?
I had shrimp instead of prawns on hand. And as noted swapped an ounce of bourbon for the sherry. I tend to use a little less oil than many recipes call for. And I used a touch more chocolate than called for.

I'm gonna have to try this, I'm impressed0

That shrimp looks good! I thought there was a way to add pictures straight from your phone, but I don't see it now. I bought Yuengling's Black & Tan ice cream today. I only had a spoonful, but it was delicious! Belgian chocolate and salted caramel. 200 cals for 87g, though, that's why I only had a spoonful this time.0

CupcakeDammit - I only know Yuengling as a brewery (and, really, as a beer)! Are you telling me they make ice cream, too? And produce a Belgian chocolate + salted caramel? What is this wizardry? Greatest company ever?

Yes, Wegmans sells it. I never bought it because it's too many calories for a serving for me.

I've never tried their ice cream yet, but will have to see which flavors are at the store next time.0 -
I made some wings last night, Should have taken a picture of them.... next time. Any way using the actifry, the best invention since... well icecream lol
Cooked the plain wings for 30 minutes or so from frozen. Then added 3-4 table spoons of orange marmalade and 3-4 tablespoons of plain bbq sauce (i used dianas but i dont think it makes a big difference). cook for an additional 10-12 minutes to mix and thicken the sauces.
awesome! really nice for a change not really sweets per say, but similar to the shrimp0 -

My Wegmans had Root Beer, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Black and Tan, Espresso Chocolate Chips. I didn't buy any as I have no willpower lately (and typically no calories left for 200 calories of ice cream anyway), plus I got some girl scout cookies to eat anyway... Apparently Acme sells it too, I'll have a look next time.0
