    Berry Crostata

    Crust (courtesy of Sjohnny):

    150 grams all purpose flour
    1 stick unsalted butter
    4 grams sugar
    1/2 tsp salt
    about 1/4 cup ice water

Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter. John said he uses the food processor, but I prefer to freeze the butter and then grate it. I learned the trick when I learned to make scones and I use it all the time now. Slowly add ice water until dough comes together. Roll out dough into a 9 inch circle.

    Filling:
    200 grams blackberries
    100 grams blueberries
    72 grams sugar
    11 grams all purpose flour
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    juice of 1/2 orange

    Topping:
    7 grams unsalted butter
    1 egg, beaten
    6 grams sugar

Mix filling ingredients and pile on top of dough. Cut remaining butter into small squares and place on top of filling. Fold dough over. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with remaining sugar.

Bake at 425 for 20-25 minutes.

Neighborhood block party today! And who am I kidding - I am not really a baker. So I went the easy route and went for store-bought. A lemon raspberry bundt cake from Nothin' Bundt Cakes:

A little post-cardio carb replenishment. One square of Lindt Dark Chocolate with a touch of sea salt and a Guinness. Yummy.

Replace the Guinness with a Malbec and you have my perfect dessert. In fact I think I will go pour a glass right now! No dark chocolate in the house though. :(

I have half a case of an Argentinian Malbec port sitting a few feet away from me. But a port didn't feel right in sweaty workout clothes in the middle of the day!

Went to dinner at a local winery Saturday night with some girlfriends. Dessert was a chocolate brownie with red wine chocolate sauce, vanilla custard, and they called it chocolate ganache on top, but it wasn't ganache. It was more like a chocolate streusel...
    Really tasty though!

Leave it to a winery to work some magic into the sauce! Reminds me I am due to go back to a certain burger joint. They offer a Chocolate Cherry Pinot Noir Shake - vanilla ice cream, pinot noir, chocolate syrup and cherries!

Yep, it was really good. Sometimes brownie desserts in restaurants can be disappointing but this one was yummy! Split it three ways, should have gotten my own though!

    Cortelli that shake sounds fantastic!

Um yeah, that was the winery, not my presentation...

At that point I was just happy that I remembered to pull out my phone and take a picture because I don't remember much else after the appetizers!!!

No I know. But every time someone posts something really pretty it makes me wish I took time to make my stuff look like that before I scarf it down.

And I will eagerly await the review. No Wegman's here, but I bet I can find a wine ice cream if the incentive is there!

It's the only grocery store I've seen carry it around here. I can't go until next week, though.

I don't think I've had the birthday cake ones, but I did buy the caramel apple. They were pretty good, but I'm still a big fan of the cookie dough. I like your partner.

No, but Poptarts are on the grocery list right now. More for the kids than for me.

We did try birthday cake M&Ms, but I could not taste a difference b/w those and regular M&Ms. Also, my friend had these giant M&Ms at book club recently, I've never seen them in the store, have no idea where she got them, but the things were huge! At least 2.5x the circumference of a normal M&M.
