Speaking of birthday cake things-- has anyone tried the birthday cake Poptarts?

No, but Poptarts are on the grocery list right now. More for the kids than for me.

We did try birthday cake M&Ms, but I could not taste a difference b/w those and regular M&Ms. Also, my friend had these giant M&Ms at book club recently, I've never seen them in the store, have no idea where she got them, but the things were huge! At least 2.5x the circumference of a normal M&M.

I sent some of those to Mr. Acrylics in his mail drop. He mentioned specifically that they were good. But then, 3 months on a boat with nothing but boat food and what your wife sends in your mail drop-- probably any kind of M&Ms would be welcome.

I don't think I've had the birthday cake ones, but I did buy the caramel apple. They were pretty good, but I'm still a big fan of the cookie dough. I like your partner.
The cake were actually really good. I haven't seen the caramel apple ones.

He's pretty cool. He got them for me at target. He literally will drive me around all day at work so I can buy food from 20 different places. He's awesome. Lol.

    FIFY

That's where I found the caramel apple ones, at Target. Tell him to go back!

Did you try the Pumpkin Flavored M&Ms? I think Target is the only store selling them. I bought two goodies recently the Hershey Kisses Pumpkin Spice & Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Bun cookies. Both are amazing!

I had the pumpkin ones last week, but I actually liked the candy corn m&m's better, and I love pumpkin stuff. Oh! I got Turkey Hill's Deep Dark Chocolate ice cream last week. I could only eat one serving of it before it was just too much. Really good, though!

Ooooo candy corn is my guilty pleasure during Halloween. I don't eat non-chocolate candy as a general rule. I'll bet candy corn M&Ms are awesome.

You should try them if you find them! I only saw them at Target, and only in the bigger bags. I love candy corn, too. I did get the birthday cake m&m's not long ago, which I thought were really good, but I ate 8 of them and gave the rest to my son. The old me would've hidden them in my purse and not let either of my kids know I even had them, then I'd scarf them down in private.

I need more friends like that.

I am currently working on a recipe for blondies containing homemade butterscotch and bourbon. Do you think browning the butter is too much?

Oooo that sounds so good. I would brown the butter. I think it would go really well with that combination of flavors. I will await the recipe.

(I'm mostly joking about SideSteel, but he posted this blog where he described a brownie sundae in great detail and it made me want one. Badly.)

Did you read his blog about the brownie sundae the other day? He made a convincing case for eating one.

I mean umm. He *said* it was about self-control and how it's harder to overeat if you keep your delicious food out of sight out of mind. But I'm not the only one who came away from it just wanting a brownie sundae.

This will be "Test Batch E"....I really had no idea that I loved Bourbon until this...I am currently baking for a meeting tomorrow and had to control myself from adding bourbon to the peach pecan muffins:-)

Yeah well, it was 650 calories as is.

And actually I didn't cook it as long as I probably should have done so it was kinda lava cake-ish anyway.

Lava cake I can stand behind, and 650 cals is a lot to work in. However, I'm going to be a stickler here, and say that if there is no hot fudge, or some other sort of liquidy topping, is it still called a sundae? I mean, I'm actually asking, what does everyone think? I figure if any group is going to have expert opinions, it's this one. I think without the topping, it is just a brownie with ice cream.

Hmm interesting question. To me all that's needed is brownie and ice cream, but you may be right.

Delicious as it may be, that there is brownie a la mode.

I agree with Kruggeri that sauce of some sort is a sundae must (fruit sauces - strawberry, cherry, raspberry - are my faves with chocolate / fudge brownie).

Maybe you're just going to have to make another? You know, 'cause Side Steel.

I'm glad the pre-requisite is not whipped cream for a sundae, because I usually don't care for whipped cream. Unless it is homemade, and then usually only on things like bread pudding, not on ice cream.

As a whipped cream hater (that sounds unnecessarily harsh, so let's say whipped cream-strongly-disliker) - I wouldn't include it as a sundae must, but I would be prepared to be overruled by the traditionalists.

EDIT: And I will freely admit to being an outlier. Frosting on cake? Even homemade frosting made to perfection? I eat around it and leave it behind. Yeah, I am that guy.

I wanted one! Instead, I had a wonut from Safeway today. Actually, I had 2. One was maple nut (it had more of a texture like it sat in syrup for a minute), and the other was chocolate. Surprisingly, the chocolate one wasn't as good. I should've just put it in a bag and saved it for later, but I didn't realize the damage I did this morning until I got to work. And I didn't get a picture. This is from the internetz. The maple nut was covered in glaze, but the chocolate was only partially covered. I wish it had looked like this one.

I need more of a definition to this Wonut creation. Is it like a waffle, that is then deep fried like a donut, and glazed or covered in sugar? That's what it looks like from the picture. Sweet Lord in Heaven where do you find these? Safeway? Like the grocery store? I don't have one of those near me. Where else?!

Desert at lunch with my friend

Oreo pie - Oreo ice cream with Oreo pie crust
    SwRKJuP.jpg?1

Nutella mousse - Nutella, chocolate mouse, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.

Oh my word. All of that stuff looks amazing.

I think that's it. These didn't have a hole in the middle, they just looked like a thick donut, and softer than a waffle. I got it at Safeway and A_Watery_Tart also got them at Safeway, but she was told it was called a Wafflenut. My store called them Wonuts. You can get them at Waffles Cafe in Chicago, too. I think they originated there. I don't know where else, sorry. Here are some more pictures, and a website. http://www.thatsnerdalicious.com/food-porn/meet-the-wonut-waffle-donut-love-child/

Mine looked like the one in the bottom right corner, except with maple nut frosting on one, and chocolate drizzled on one end on the other one.

My haul from Target. I tried the M&Ms and the chocolate peeps tonight. The M&Ms are not what I was expecting. They are really good, but they don't remind me of candy corn at all. They're kind of fruity-- reminds me more of skittles or starburst-- with white chocolate. Really really good.

And I love the chocolate mini-peeps. A couple of Easters ago I found chocolate creme peeps one time. I adored them but then could never find them again. As a bonus these little guys are 14 calories each.

I'm planning to have the S'mores candy bar tomorrow.
