Had fun yesterday with grandkids making homemade mints and dipping some half in chocolate and also made molded chocolate shamrocks. We used the Betty Crocker cream cheese mint recipe. 4 ingredients: cream cheese, powdered sugar, peppermint extract, butter. Was even more fun since my DIL food processor didn't work so we squished it with our fingers to make a dough. Nice and messy job! Then for the molds and the ones we dipped, coating chocolate.

Then the weather was beautiful (in mid-60s) and I cleaned my car inside and out till it sparkled and put down the top to cruise around town on my day off. Went to the park for a walk (still too muddy on the trails, but the walking paths were okay). Had a nice dinner and then worked out at the gym.

Went to a great Sunday brunch. Ate almost my days worth of calories, but didn't do me any harm. Didn't help either, though.

Best news yet, is I have been having problems with my staff and my administration is "feeling" for me, so I can finally outsource some of the work! I hate that, but I have to get work done and these guys are just lazy! Every time I try to get them to do something, they grieve at with their union. This sort of rewards them by taking away the job they don't like, but it will ease my stress level (and that of my bosses) greatly.

Other good news is that I applied for a grant through work to partially fund a wildflower pollinator garden and beehives and it has passed all steps except final approval from the Board of the group giving the grant. That grant writing class I took a few years ago has paid off, I guess. I think we will get the $$$$.

Oh, got my taxes done. Not a huge amount back, but better than owing!

All in all a good weekend. Hope yours was, too!

Charlie, what a great note! I'm still a bit under the weather but getting better I think. It has been really spring like here and I even found a stand of daffodils in full bloom this week. Heartening. Rainy today. My weight is up today but no reason for it except I had toast instead of my prunes yesterday. The calories are the same (but not the effect). Just hoping for breaking even for tomorrow's weigh-in. I did get my taxes done but contract work I did last year means I owe around 1000.00 so not actually filing until April. Next year I get to claim my son so that will help. So weird to make so little and still owe, but it's because I work as an adjunct teacher. Hope everyone is doing well.

I'm down today, but barely. I've been pretty "good" this week although more inactive than usual because I've had a sinus infection/cold and have slept whenever possible. A full 10 pounds lost as of this weigh in. Two more weigh ins before the end of this challenge (and the beginning of the next, which goes until July 3rd. I had hoped to reach my goal weight by my birthday and start date on mfp, July 7th, one year ago, but with 17 pounds to go it is going to be a stretch. I will work on getting the cheerleader spirit going again when I finished my bout of being sick.

Hey Mary, thanks for your faithful weigh in. You have lost 6.5 pounds, don't forget it! I've had a struggle myself these last few weeks. Hang in there and celebrate the return to warmer weather and a time when we can be more active outdoors!

I can't get off this plateau and I am really having hunger lately. For 14 months, 1200 calories a day has not been a big deal. Suddenly, I am soooooo hungry all the time. It is really hard to stick with it and last night, I was really late and went way off plan.

I don't think I'm getting enough protein or fat (although I seem to be over in fat grams most days). But the fat controls the hunger. I also am having muscle weakness. This is really confusing me. I have been feeling so strong and suddenly, my legs feel like noodles and just achy at night. So, I haven't been sleeping well either (I do have RLS, but that isn't this).

Have been under a huge amount of stress lately. Did go to my boss and her boss and they are bending over backwards to give me some alternatives, so hopefully, I can come out from under this soon.

Am going to have the next 5 days in a row off.
    Tomorrow. Do nothing!
Sunday: Fancy Nancy the Musical with my granddaughter and dinner with her.
Monday: Grandkids and dinner with daugther at Wine Bistro.
Tuesday: Massage and trip to Northern KY for one night at B&B and nice dinner.
Wednesday: Mummies of the World exhibit in Cincinnati.

However, since it is a "vacation," I will allow myself to eat at maintenance level, so probably won't budge off this plateau next week, either.

Good news this week with better weather I've walked twice and slowly cleaning kitchen cabinets trying to get it easier to use. Congrats to all on the downward spiral. I have mailed a commission & gotten taxes done so I feel like I can breathe again.

Good for you Nancy! Yes, some walking in this improved weather is in order. Charlie, I am right there with you, Stuck around the same weight for about a month. Not sure what it is going to take to get into full steam ahead mode but I'm working on it.

    Hi guys

I have still not seen a scale but I have been enjoying my holiday. Flaky internet in Florida so no posting either.

Everyone is doing so well. You all say you are having trouble with motivation and hunger but your stats say you are staying the course!!! Congrats!!!!!

I did get some walking and golf games in and watching what goes into my mouth (at least most of the time). My clothes still fit so I think I am OK. Not loose though so not much progress down.

We are watching the rain out the window in South Carolina today. Peter has had a miserable cold so not much fun in the holiday department for the last few days. Hopefully a good walk on the beach tomorrow. I have been trying to avoid the cold but it is lurching in the background.

Weather at home is still freezing and we still have snow storms passing though. There was a 50 car pile up on the highway which I am glad I missed.

This challenge just has not worked out for me. Winter is a hard time for me. But I am still grateful to be part of it. I should still be down from when we started this one and I intend, with the improving weather into spring, that our next challenge will be MINE!!!!!

    Go team Go!!!

Marney, I think you get winning points just for being involved in a challenge, for ending up a little lighter than the start (I believe you will), for watching how your clothes fit, what you put in your mouth and always getting some exercise. I intend to "own" the next challenge as well. I would love to get to my goal weight by July, which is my one year anniversary too.
I've been sort of stalled for the last month, just inching along, and yesterday I went off the rails--600 calories over, all in snacks. Today I kept my calories light (so far) so should even out pretty well. It was the see food diet yesterday (see food, eat it). Anyway, good luck to all during this last week of our winter challenge! :)

Whoops, I should have said last TWO weeks of our challenge. Our last weigh-in for this challenge is April 3rd. That is also the first weigh-in for the next challenge which ends July 3rd. Start thinking about where you want the next challenge to take you. I want to be at or near my goal weight. I think I should have called our last challenge the Winter to Spring challenge. And the next Spring to Summer.

Down just a bit this week but I'll take it! Had a high fiber high salt day yesterday so a bit surprised I'm down at all. One more weigh in for this challenge! I hope to end at 175.3 something next week to end with a 12 pound loss.

One more weigh-in for this challenge, On Good Friday, April 3rd. That is also the start of a new challenge that runs from April 3rd to July 3rd. I know that I'm adding in some sort of exercise (or a variety) which I have neglected since I started my weight loss journey on July 7th, 2014. I started at 218 last July and hope to be to 160 by July 7th, 2015.

I'm getting so off track. The last few weeks have been crazy.Eating out too much and not exercising.I haven't been tracking my food on MFP faithfully either.I really didn't want to post my gain on here this morning but knew I needed to.I had to own it.
Gayle-you are doing so good! Proud of you.Over a 10 lb loss in our challenge.Awesome.

Thanks Mary, just keep on telling it like it is, all part of this process. Just have to keep on working at it! Learn from you lapses (what tempted you? Why did you overeat? Are you drinking your water? Are you re-affirming your goals?). My determination to get back to a healthier weight and feeling my life depends on it is what keeps me going. And having mfp and this group.

I haven't weighed, but I know I have gained. I just took off some time and now I will pay the price. No way will I make goal, but it was just something I needed to do. I'll weigh on the final day!

Charlie, I know you have a nice week with your grandkids and time to relax and de-stress. I did well, in terms of a lower weight on Friday but did a bunch of emotional eating later in the day related to putting our kitty down. We've had her through-out my son's childhood so it was a sad day. Still turn to food for comfort, which is OK. As long as it doesn't become a trend, which I am not going to let it! We can all re-affirm our goals next Friday! I really missed you this week!

Gayle-So sorry to hear about your cat.My cousin also lost her cat this week and having a hard time dealing with it.They only had theirs for 6 months before he got sick and the vet needed to put him to sleep.
I'm planning on having company for Easter weekend and they will keep me busy.Gonna love it.We'll be grilling out if the weather cooperates.I don't know what plan b will be.
Charlie-hopefully the next goal will kinder to us.lol.Ok,it means i'll have to get back on track and work harder.
I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Company for Easter weekend sounds like fun Mary! I hope to have a nice meal and go for a walk with my son. There will be candy in the house but not really interested. I eat a little candy on most days so Easter chocolate is no big deal. Hmmm, may allow some calories for those spiced jelly beans which I do like!

Mary we are going to take our time replacing her. We have really specific guidelines. Needs to be an easy purrer and a good snuggler, female, shorthair. Would prefer declawed (since my other one is) but that is not written in stone. We went to the Denver Cat Cafe today but did not meet anyone we wanted to take home. This is for my son so he will get the final vote.

This morning a (younger) mfp friend posted that she has lost 13 pounds this month. This made me think about what I lose per month. I looked at my report and the news, plus the trend, is not good. In January I lost 5.3 pounds, in February I lost 3.3, but this month (OK, I have a day) I've only lost 1.7. That is 10.4 pounds for 90 days, which I will take, with an average of 3.4 per month, which is OK, but my trend is awful. Of course I am saying this while also acknowledging myself for losing continuously and making progress in general.

Well, the next senior challenge starts on this Friday, and goes until July 3rd. I want to get to my goal weight. I need to lose 15 more pounds. Actually 15 pounds in 13 weeks is doable, especially since one of the things I'm going to add to the challenge is, wait for it, EXERCISE! Really, I'm serious this time. I will start with daily steps, add walks, water aerobics, senior yoga, marching. Oh, and I'm adding back in my one day a week 1/2 calorie day. Psyching myself up for the new challenge!!

I'm back seriously this week. Those couple of weeks were my first real "bump in the road" so to speak. I'll have to live with the consequences.

@gaylebodine: So sorry about the kitty. I can understand the emotional eating after that. Never compare your weight loss to others. There are so many more things than just numbers on a scale. A younger person has a higher metabolism. They may have more to lose. They may be taller. They are more likely to not be eating as healthy as they should, etc. etc. I really can't expect more than a .5 a week compared to the 2 pounds a week I lost when I started. Anything more is a bonus (unfortunately, I probably gained those 5 pounds rather than lost them last month).

I must admit that the sunshine today has me feeling so much better although there is still a chill in the air. I really can't take anymore winter. I am going for an outside lunchtime walk today. Then rush back to an all afternoon meeting. Just finishing my PB&J while I write this.

I am now done with the beginners class of Tai Chi and moving on to the continuing. Will try to hit that tonight, although the times for the continuing classes are not good for me. Most of the people are retired. Tough for me to leave work at 4:30 or so, take carpool buddy home during a 20 mile commute at rush hour and be at class at 5:30. After class finishing at 7 p.m., I do want to hit the gym. So I figure before I leave work, I can grab a protein shake and I will pack a sandwich, salad, and fruit to eat for dinner tonight on the run between Tai Chi and the gym.

That is the only bad thing about being "healthy." It takes a lot of time, doesn't it?

Charlie, thanks for your encouragement and perspective. Oh, I love PB & J! Tonight making myself some "healthier" ramen. It does take a lot of time to be healthy but so glad I am not just getting fatter and fatter like I was about a year ago!

Well I sure didn't make my challenge goal of 145. Up/down, up/down, UP!

    1/2/15: 155.5 lbs.
    1/9/15: 159.5 lbs.
    1/16/15: 154.5 lbs.
    1/23/15: 154
    1/30/15: 153.5
    2/6/15: 151.5
    2/13/15: 151.5
    2/20/15: 148.5
    2/27/15: 153
    3/6/15: 148
    3/13/15: 147
    3/20/15: 148
    3/27/15: Skipped weighing
    4/3/15: 152.5
    Goal: 145 :s

Now that my own March Madness is over and I'm back to eating at goal and working out almost every day, I have to get back to 147 and then...4th of July goal...140? Yeah, 140!

    I will also:
    • Continue to use the rowing machine most days (my gym has tons of equipment, but only one rowing machine!).
    • Continue Tai Chi twice a week.
    • Continue on 1200 calories, but eat a little less at meals and allow for snacks to prevent hunger.
    • Try to get more sleep (I'm doing better at that).
    • Start back up on outdoor walking -- weather permitting
    • Continue meditation.
    • Try, try, try to at least do strength/resistance training once in a while!

Back to my lowest weight. This week will be a challenge for sure.Having co.for Easter and grandchildren are staying for a few days.I'm having to cater to their taste which are nothing like mine. But I know they'll keep me active. It's going to be very interesting.
Good luck on the weigh-ins ladies.I have to figure out my next goals.
