Yesterday I started the Lean Phase! I went light because I had no idea which weights to use compared to the Push Phase. She said the weights for the other people after we started the exercise. I'll push harder on Lean 2. I know it was 45 minutes, but it flew by for me.

As for my results to this point (two months)... I was very surprised at my results. I haven't lost a single pound (note: I was at a healthy BMI to start with). But I lost an inch in a few places: my waist, abductors and chest. Best of all I lost 3 inches off of each of my thighs!! I didn't even notice the change while it was happenning, but my husband wasn't surprised at all. My lower body is my trouble area, and I was thrilled with this result.

I know some people feel like Chalene focuses too much on the upper body. I promise you that you're getting a good lower body workout also!

I actually feel its a great lower body routine...at least that is what my lower body has been yelling at me since I started last week ago..lol

Great job @ kim! It's a good feeling whLen the changes sneak up on you!

I just started my third week of Burn phase and am feeling great. Last night, while snuggling in bed, my boyfriend asked me when the next time to do measurments was because he says I am feeling so much smaller already! Loving the CLX workout but think I will add in more cardio during push. I added an extra 20 minutes a week for this phase of TJam but think I may need more. Thoughts?

I am on day 12. I've added extra cardio via Turbo Jam on all of the days I do my Burn circuits. Last week it was 20minutes and this week it was 30. I've also added running on day 2 of the week. My problem spots are my upper arms and lower abs. I know that if I want to see the type of results that I want, that I need to blast away more fat.

I haven't stepped on the scale or remeasured but I see subtle changes in my body. I feel great too. I say that if it makes you feel better then go for it. It certainly can't be a bad thing.

Maybe add another day of Turbo Jam this week and see how it goes. Then you can up it or decrease it on a weekly basis. I don't think you even need to wait for the Push phase.

Alright, really trying this time, mixing up CLX and TF.
Last night was Burn 1. I hope I can stick with it this time! Work has slowed down so OT should pretty much be over, will make it much easier for no excuse not to exercise.

Good morning! Did an Insanity workout this morning. Loved (and missed) it!

Re: adding more cardio. Ladies, just say no. I just think a lot of people get caught up in the burn numbers being low that they have to add more cardio. If you're not adding more calories to your daily intake, your body isn't going to be happy with you. Is Michelle part of this group? She explains the reason behind not adding cardio so well.

Good job on the Insanity! Also, excellent advice on the cardio. I think you hit the answer spot on. We all definitely have issues with numbers, regardless which ones they are.

Burn Intervals today...felt so good. Loved it!

Who's in the Lean Phase? What is with all the Runner's Lunges and the Plank (that's just shy of being cruel)? I did Lean 2 today, and I was shaking so bad!! My heart rate jumped really high. Hopefully next week I'll be able to balance better.

Burn Circuit 2 done. I haven't felt this sore in some time. I did BC1 on Monday, practiced my Zumba routines Monday night, then Insanity workout yesterday before teaching Zumba last night, then BC2 this morning. No practice or classes tonight but I teach Zumba tomorrow evening (on top of doing TF 45) and Friday afternoon (BC3 day). My body is going to be so beat up come the weekend!

Good morning, everyone!! I'm back. I started with BC1. I'm doing my own scheduled hybrid - all the CLX lifting days as well as some TF and Insanity workouts. The first two months are 5 days a week and then the last month I'm going to add some yoga in on the 6th day.

Cee - this is so funny - I am just coming back also, doing a 12 week regime of CLX with Insanity on cardio days and yoga on rest day!! Great workout minds must surely think alike! I am doing this regime with my 16 year old daughter and we plan to alternate 3 weeks Push with 3 weeks Lean for four rounds (she is not fond of Burn, so that rotation was our compromise). She wants to tighten up a bit before prom in April and I'm looking to kick it back in gear after a hectic fall schedule!

Ditto, ditto, ditto to the big NO on the extra cardio - I did answer this for someone quite a while back and rather than typing it all out again, I'm pasting in my original response below! I hope you all find this helpful!

    Michelle

A lot of people ask the same question regarding cardio, usually because they are tracking calories burned and feel that they don't burn 'enough' doing the workouts and so supplement with extra cardio. Really, it's not at all necessary. The weight training routines may burn fewer calories while you are doing them than the cardio does, but cardio burn stops at the moment you stop the activity whereas your body will continue to burn calories at an accelerated rate for hours after a weight lifting workout. From what I have read, this is due to two things - one, you are building muscle, which takes more energy to maintain than fat so the added muscle will increase your metabolism so that you naturally burn more calories, even when at rest. Second, when you weight train, you actually create microscopic tears in the muscles which then cause the muscles to grow as they repair. This repair process begins immediately, requiring extra calories to fuel the repair, hence the elevated calorie burn for hours after your weight training session. CLX does weight training 3 days per week, with 2 days per week dedicated to cardio-type workouts. If you eat properly, you will likely find that this this is more than enough.

Again, there are a lot of folks who are numbers-focused who feel they don't burn enough or are married to the scale and think they aren't losing enough. I encourage you to listen to your body. Ditch the scale - that can fluctuate from day to day and even hour to hour based on fluid retention, among other things. I personally find it much more accurate and much kinder to my psyche to rely on the mirror, how your clothes fit and your tape measure - which will never lie to you. If your clothes are fitting better, you are getting the job done no matter what the number on the scale says. Do I add in extra cardio? Yes, sometimes - usually because I need the release or I've been stuck at my desk all day and just need to MOVE and sometimes, just because some cardio workouts are just so much fun! But I don't kill myself with cardio on a regular basis.

The other bit of advice that I'd pass along is to make sure you eat a clean diet. That will make more of a difference than all the cardio you can pump out and you'll feel better and more energized, too. That doesn't mean you have to eat rabbit food - if you look through the CLX food guide, you'll see that it's not filled with salads - but it is filled with meals that are full of solid nutrition and no junk. That is not to say that my diet doesn't contain treats from time to time - if we could live solely on Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk, that would be ultimate heaven for me! - but keep in check. I've read a lot of places that they suggest ensuring that junk food/treats take up no more than 10% of your total calories. Personally, I work on the 'week' plan - I have a treat once every two to three weeks, but that's just what works for me. I don't keep junk in the house, so I actually have an outing to go and get my ice cream fix!

Sorry such a long-winded note and certainly more than you asked about in your post, but I hope that you find it helpful. I hope you really love CLX as much as the rest of us do - I've done it pretty steadily for over a year and absolutely love how strong and energized it makes me feel! Chalene Johnson is just awesome!

Thanks for the amazing insight on the cardio. I feel amazing and just need to go ith the flow and not the numbers!

BTW I am IN LOVE with burn intervals, even though it's long -ish it feels amazing! I also cannot belive that I only have 1.5 weeks left of burn, it has gone so fast and I just love Chalene. I am normally a Jillian girl but there is something about these workouts that I love! Ut-oh... has Chalene become my new girl crush?? haha

I've done burn circuit 3 and tf hiit 15 today. That finishes week 3. I feel like I'm getting stronger. Although I start every set thinking my weights aren't heavy enough. I then get to the end of my set and I'm shaking :) I haven't been doing much cardio. I'm doing the weight lfting circuits and 1 cardio workout a week. I walk to and from work as well as walking my dog everyday so I don't think I need much cardio.

So I was supposed to start my second round of CLX Monday, but woke up last weekend after falling asleep on the couch with my left shoulder killing me. I haven't been able to do jack this week and it's been really disheartening, but hopefully I'll be able to at least get back on the TurboFire train Monday since my shoulder's feeling a LOT better today. I can't risk further injury by starting CLX too soon, so will give it another week.

You guys are all fabulous...never forget that!!

I know I haven't checked in here much...but I finished CLX this past week. I'm so proud of myself for actually following through and finishing the whole program. I've never done that before, so it's kind of a big deal to me, LOL!
I'm planning to start P90X tomorrow....I'm hoping that CLX has prepared me to handle whatever Tony wants to throw my way. I will be subbing in TurboFire for some of the cardio workouts though. I sure hope I can stick with the full 90 days as I'd like to see some big changes in my definition by spring.

I haven't done my "final" measurements yet as I wanted to wait until any of the extra water retention was gone before writing down final numbers. But it looks as though I've lost about 14-15 pounds and a whole lot of inches. I love how strong my upper body feels...but I'm a little disappointed in the lower body workout, overall. I know it's hard to do effective lower body strength building with such a program so I'm not too upset. ;o) Overall, I truly loved CLX and imagine I'll be doing another round at some point this year (perhaps if P90X doesn't float my boat, I'll be back sooner than later, hah!).

Push 3 tonight and I think I'm gonna be feeling this one tomorrow - 35 lb. on the sumo squats (70 lbs. total) and 25 lbs. on the chest flyes - by the last rep, I was already feeling the burn!! :) Gotta love a solid workout!

Have a great week everyone and keep pushing PLAY!!!
