BREAKING BAD WAS AWESOME LAST NIGHT....well, the last 20 minutes of it, anyway.
I quit "Walking Dead" mid-way through last season....couldn't handle anymore of "the Governor". Colleagues at work say I should pick it back up....maybe. Maybe.
Hey, lifting in-and-done for the day. BOOM!0 -
Alright, well, not everybody reported in for the *star* challenge, but here is what I have for 5th week (ending Sept. 29):
REMEMBER, week 6 *star* challenge runs Monday, Sept. 30 - Sunday, Oct. 6.0 -
Waaah! I made a post on Saturday afternoon and I don’t see it!! What I can see:
Ris – Great job on getting a star this week! Your lunch does sound quite tasty
Amy – Yay for a star! I LOVE San Fran!! I went for my bday last year and we literally ate our way through the city, lol! Have fun! Glad to hear your dad is doing better and hope that continues! Ugh, the government shut down! Hope everything gets fixed quickly!
Beeps, I did see you pic and can I just fan-freaking-tastic!!
Still doing well and getting in my lifts. Had a cheat day Sunday, but as of this morning, the scale shows the damage is undone. I made a chicken veggie stir fry and Italian zuchinni boats yesterday. Omg, they were both delish!! I will have to post pics on my FB Fit page. Did Body Pump and Zumba yesterday, going to a class and teaching a class tonight…trying to sweat off any extra bloat because I have to do that show tomorrow and I do not want to be puffy
Welcome newcomers!!
Have a good one ladies!0 -
Hey ladies! So I think I am done logging for a bit. I figure I will take this month off and get back to it in November after the baby is here. I plan to keep up with my walks and still eat as healthy as I can. I'm hoping this break will really have me pumped to get back to it next month. I am already ready to get back to working out HARD! Even though I know I have awhile until I will be able to do that.0

Today my daughter is 11 years old. Hard to believe how fast the time goes by. On the other hand, I derive GREAT joy in watching this person develop! She's soooooooooooo awesome!
I have a late meeting after work, so won't be home until about 8....we'll quickly do gift-opening then, before she heads off to bed!
No exercise for me, today - and I'm trying to fast through until supper (since I have function with fancy food, anyway!).0 -
Chloe - I think a logging break is a totally awesome idea - good for you!
Hi jenomaha - I'm still after YOUR abs!! I'm chasing 'em, baby, chasing 'em....0 -
Hi ladies! Well this government shutdown isn't so great for our budget, but it's been nice having lots of time to exercise. It's beautiful out and I get to walk for as long as I'd like!
Beeps--happy birthday to your daughter!
Choloe--I know, I'm itching to get back to tough workouts! And enjoy taking a break from logging. This is the time to do it!
Jen--sounds like you're still rocking it, great work!
That's all I can see, hope you all are doing well!0 -
My appointment with the allergy specialist was scheduled for February 19, 2014 (my family doctor req'd it in July~~omg)
Alas, a "last-minute" cancellation got me into allergy specialist TODAY.
And, in case you didn't think I REALLY WAS allergic to everything in nature - I'm here to confirm that, yes, in fact, I'm allergic to everything in nature....BRING ON THE CONCRETE, baby!
No "food" allergies - although the allergy specialist DID explain to me why I still have asthma symptoms when ingesting wine, beer and spirits. (He did test for "yeast" - I'm NOT allergic....so, bring on the BEER!)
Animals - yep.
Plants - yep.
Trees - yep.
Here is the EXACT list:
guinea pigs
mouse
hamster
western weed mix
sagebruxh
grass mix (#10)
fescue
timothy
cat
dog
horse
cow
dandelion
white ash
western tree mix
sheep wool
mould mix
alternaria
poplar
willow
mugwort
cedar
birch
In other words - I'm STILL not going "hiking" anywhere, I STILL can't go where "pets" are and I'll stick to my indoor (gym) activities, thank you very much!0 -
I'm back! I quickly caught up but have no time to respond to everyone. So….HI!!!!
South Beach was a lot of fun. We ate really good food (best ceviche I’ve ever had a Chalan) but not a ton. Usually 2 meals a day. However I drank pretty much from noon to 10 or so Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I managed to not pound drinks Friday and Saturday; Sunday was another story. Anyways, the hotel pool was fun (rooftop), but we realized the place was a little dirty and we are probably too old to be staying there. Literally, no one gets to the pool till around 2 and party till I guess they get kicked out. I prefer to be in the sun by 10 or so and leave to get ready for dinner. But put us in party environment, and we’ll party like we’re 21. So next trip to South Beach will be more low key at a nicer place.
While I was there, I also realized that I look pretty good. I mean my stomach I’ll never be happy with unless I really really watch what I eat and drink. (I really really don’t want to obsess over this forever….I love food and drink). And I think I have almost come to accept this. My body is a work in progress. I’m with Beeps. Heavy lifting has transformed my body. Maybe one day my abs will look “good”, but until then, I should be happy with my great legs and pretty good butt. There was a group of 10 or so early 20’s girls. They were all pretty and thin and half had implants (most ridiculously sized for their bodies…I don’t have a problem with implants unless they look just silly….) and I looked at Eric and said, “I am 12 years older than those girls and I look as good”. These girls also were soooo self conscious. They looked around constantly to see who was looking at them, pulling at their bathing suits, etc. etc. etc. I on the other hand may have quickly showed off my twerking abilities and danced a time or two. Anyways….I’m just getting a lot of perspective just noticing people and things and reading that book is helping too.
I haven’t logged in a week and don’t intend on doing it for a little while. We walked plenty in South Beach and I even swam laps a little one morning. I walked a lot Tuesday and lifted, and did tons of housework yesterday while home with my sick kiddo. I haven’t weighed myself in 3 weeks I think. I plan on just keeping up with lifting 3x a week; 4 more weeks of stronglifts. And also running twice a week and whatever else I can get done. And mindfully eat.
It looks like you all are all doing great! I’m glad to be back and checking in with you all again! :flowerforyou:0 -
Sounds like a SUPER-fun time, Better!
Also, if "getting older" teaches you ANYTHING, make sure it teaches you what "really matters"!
You are HEALTHY. You are FIT. You pay ATTENTION to what you put in your mouth.
THAT REALLY MATTERS! The last 2" on tummy (or whatever) does NOT matter, when taking the WHOLE! Nicely done!0 -

Well, I think I am out this week for the challenge, Ihaven't worked out for a week and stopped logging and have been at the hospital all day, "enjoying" unemployment (furloughed).
I still plan to go to San Fran tomorrow night and I will try to get back into exercising next week, I really thought the furlough would give me time to work out but my dad's docs had other ideas.
Ashley, I am glad you have confidence about your body and impressed you can twerk I have never tried but I have no rhythm so I think that would not go well for me!0 -

I hope your Dad is doing ok. At least you're getting to spend some time with him while on furlough. Even if it is in the hospital. :frown: Have a blast in SF! Love that town.
Oh, it took some practice and watching a Youtube video to learn! But I do have some dance background, so that helps.
Got in a lift last night and I'm a little sore today. I made myself do deadlifts and watched another video and think I may be improving my form. One of my besties is a crossfit addict and was supposed to be going to a dealifting workshop (yeah....she's really into it.....) so hopefully I can work with her one day. I hope to get a run and a lift in this weekend and I'll just be one run shy of my goal. Considering I got back from South Beach Monday late afternoon, had parents in Tuesday and a sick kid Wednesday, I think I did ok. We've got a nice relaxing weekend ahead of us with nothing on the books except going to an art fair. I'm excited. We've been go go go all of September.
I did a little extra snacking last night and felt a little blah, but my "mini binge" was about 2 servings of pretzels and a few wheat thins with pimento cheese. That's not so bad..... But I'm not logging so......
Have a great weekend ladies!0 -
Amy - are you "out" of the star challenge, or just accepting a "NO STAR" for this week of the challenge? I really hope you have a good time in SF....you sound like a "break/escape" is really in order!
Better - I think you could (now) keep-up with crossfit friend....
Today, I lift!0 -
Better - glad you had a good time & also got some good perspective
Amy - so sorry about your week, hope your dad is doing ok, enjoy your time in San Fran
Beeps - hope your lifting went well
I did pretty well this past week with eating, feeling a lot better after my binge last weekend. I was below on calories almost every day and managed to avoid any junk and only had one glass of wine all week. I have a birthday party tomorrow night which may be challenging, but I do have some cals to spare. I didn't do as well as I would have liked on exercise, but managed to get two days of strength, two dance classes and a few walks with the dog. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.0 -
I just pigged out on chinese food! Oh the binge! Oh the sodium! Oh the fasting and water-drinking I'm going to have to do, now...
and, oh, I won't weigh until Wednesday!!!!0 -
Happy Monday!
Beeps - I had chinese this weekend too! Fortunately it was late so I didn't have much of an appetite for it! However, now I'm left using the leftovers!! Small portions it is!!
Abigail - Good job on staying on track!! And that's awesome only having 1 glass of wine! I hope your weekend went well too!
Ashley - Good job with lifting! I'm sure you're keeping up great with your CF friend!! Sounds like you had a relaxing weekend in store for you, I hope it was as refreshing as you hoped!!
Amy - I'm sorry to hear about your dad :-/ I hope you still enjoyed San Fran! Hopefully the shut down won't be for much longer so you don't have to deal with being furloughed for long!
My week & weekend went pretty well! for the STAR challenge I got a Platinum again! Woohoo! I also got to hold my goddaughter Friday She is amazing and I can't wait til she's out of the hospital! I didn't do well exercising last week.. I just wasn't feeling it, and rather than force it and be miserable, I skipped it and will be going back to it this week!
I hope everyone has a great start to their week!0 -
Hey ladies. No logging over the weekend and I feel the best I have on a Monday in a while. So weird this mental game I have with eating..... Not that I had few calories. I drank Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but not ridiculously. Got to spend time with several friends and also relax some. I did some running with sprints yesterday, which I don't really like. I was wheezing and couldn't breath after each 30-60 second sprint. I also weighed myself on Saturday, which I haven't weighed on a weekend in a long time. I was 0.5 pound up from my last weigh in probably 3-4 weeks ago. Considering it was a Saturday rather than Thursday, I feel pretty good about that. I think I may take measurements this week sometime to check in.
I also tried a new crockpot recipe yesterday and it was yummy. I'm trying to meal plan ahead of time and try a new dish each week. This week's is chicken with apples and cranberries. Good fall dish.
My goals this week are:
1. 2 runs (one lunch run at work....they finished our locker room so I can actually shower)
2. 3 lifts
3. Keep eating and drinking mindfully
4. Stick to meal plan
Have a great week ladies!0 -
Not great on the "star" challenge - I blew it over the weekend and ended up >1,000 calories OVER my weekly goal. bollocks! A *bronze* star, for me.
My goals this week:
1. 9,800 cals for the week - with two lower days (1,200 each for Tues/Th) and two higher days (1,600 each for Sat and Sun).
2. I'll likely need to skip both breakfast AND lunch Tues/Thur to keep the calories as low as I'd like. Not looking forward to this, but it is what it is.
3. 3 x weekly weight-training.
4. MORE water (particularly on tues/thurs)
5. cardio on Saturday morning.
It's thanksgiving weekend upcoming for me (and all Canadians!), so that means Saturday will be tough, too....blech.0 -
Hey ladies!!!
I am not gonna lie I have been eating whatever I wanted since I stopped logging a week ago. I got in 5 walks last week though. 3 weeks to go!
Ashley- I bought that book that you were talking about and have it loaded on my kindle, hoping to read it after the baby gets here and hopefully get me back into healthy mode!0 -
Hi ladies! I don't have time to respond to everything, just a quick check in. I was under my calories by about 800 calories last week, so I'm giving myself a silver star (my goal is to get as close to my goal as possible, not to go under). I've had lots of time to workout (mostly walking) due to the shutdown. Hope you are all doing well!0

6th week STAR CHALLENGE results:
Only 2 weeks left, ladies, in this challenge! Let's get 'er done!0 -
Quick check in!!! Our event went fantastic!! Raised almost $3000!!! Still eating clean but only got in 2 lifts last week due to my schedule. But, I am only 5 lbs from my goal now, so husband actually bought our plane tickets to Vegas today!!! So I have until Nov 2 to hit my goal!! Eek!! Mind is still focused and have lifts planned for Wed, Fri, Sun.
Keep up the great work ladies!!
P.s. Amy, hope your dad is doing well and that San Fran was fun!!0 -
...I wanna be 5 lbs from goal....
:sad:0 -
Beeps, you're almost there!!0

Hi! Quick update on me..... Hope you are all doing well!
I weighed in yesterday for the first time in about 4 weeks. I was down 1/2 pound. But my waist was down about 0.3" and my chest down about 3/4", and my legs were up each about 1/4" each from last measurements about 2 months ago. Not that I'm trying to "bulk up", but this may be an indication that I am actually gaining some muscle, thus why the scale has been consistently in the 130's the last few months. I know it is VERY hard for women to put on muscle, but I am seeing changes in my body too. Like back muscles! I was getting into my suit to get in the hot tub last night and was checking myself out in the mirror...not gonna lie, and I have real actual definition in my back! I have never seen that before! So I'm going to keep up with the stronglifts inspired lifting (I've been modifying quite a bit, but trying to stick with the 5x5 patterns) and not logging and check in about once a month on the scale and with measurements. I'm about 0.5" from my summer loss on my waist, but my belly (biggest problem area) hasn't budged. THAT is the result of diet I'm sure. So, I'll keep trucking along.....
I'm still good and sore from lifting Tuesday morning. I got a nice run in and tons of walking on my day off yesterday. I plan to get up and lift in the morning and hopefully get a lift and run in over the weekend. Have a great day!
Oh, and I tried a new recipe last night. Chicken (I used cut up thighs), apples, onions, and fresh cranberries cooked with apple juice and thyme. I'm going to add a little cashew in next time. Great fall dish.0 -
jen - I've been "almost there" for 10 months, now....it's more like I'm "mastering maintenance" than "leaning out". I want to LEAN OUT!
Better - I think your plan is very sensible....why weigh?? Scale number, on it's own, is totally meaningless! And, if your measurements are kicking around the same, again, why measure?? You, too, are likely "mastering maintenance" and if that's your goal, do it the right way by FOCUSING ONLY ON THE "INPUTS" (i.e. what you eat and getting your lifting in)....which is EXACTLY what you ARE DOING!
BOOM!0 -
Hi ladies! I haven't been on the computer much since I've been out of work (gov't shutdown) so I've been bad about checking in. I'm still logging, but it's easier to do on my phone or iPad. With all of this free time I've been good about getting in exercise, but I've been noticing that a lot of those extra exercise calories are going to desserts.... I've started making these homemade butterfinger bars that are gluten free so my husband can eat them, and they're not as bad as the real thing but they're still mostly sugar and very addictive. And then I've rediscovered how much I like chocolate pudding. I need to work on getting back to my one-dessert-a-day rule, but for now I'm going to at least limit it to one a meal.0

I hadn't really planned on doing this, but decided to take some pregoress pics this morning while I was lifting. I intended to just blog them, but I couldn't get the pics to work, so decided to put it out there for all of MFP to see. :ohwell: I guess I hadn't taken progress pics in over a year! I really need to do this more. It is so rewarding to compare. I think a picture really is worth a thousand words.....

Have a great weekend ladies! Thank you all for being part of my circle of internet friends. You all are inspirations to me in your own way.0 -
LOVE THE PICTURES, Better! You look GREAT! Such a testament to LIFTING - good for you!
(i know you also love your cardio).
Ris - hope this govt shutdown is short-lived....frankly, the whole WORLD is watching and not very excited about what is going on in the good ol US of A.0
