Last night I got to visit my son and DIL and see and hold the baby. Her umbilical cord fell off so they were anxious to bath her but afraid to at the same time. I love bathing babies so I taught her how to bath the baby. It was so very fun to give her the first bath. She is only 5 days old. We sure feel grateful to have this little soul join our family.
Phoebe: Heaven sakes, I am worried about your husband. I hope the meds work and he gets feeling better soon.
Shirley: You remind me so much of my good friend Claudia. Except I don't think she has ever been on a boat! I love your comments.
Jeri: that heritage park sounds wonderful and like a lot of fun. I'd love to go to a place like that with my 3 year old grand daughter.
Jackie:knock on wood, so far I have not had any MFP problems getting on or anything. I just need to be more regular in checking in.
Anne: love all the things you are learning. and your desire to keep trying new things.
Sandy: Congratulations on the steps and the medals and everything. You must be such an inspiration to all those around you. I wish I lived closer so I could see you in action. I think it would be fun to hang out with you.
Lin: If I ever need anything I know I could find it in your garage. Very impressive. and thanks for the story about the 2 cars. One never knows when an extra car will come in handy. And I'd love to see your hair cut.
Buzz: Your never ending social life never ceases to amaze me. I hope that when I am even close to your age I still have the spunk that you have and darling personality to share like you do with with all your friends.

Patsy: Your clearing out and cleaning process with the mounds and piles gave me such a chuckle. I can just picture you doing that. Funny lady! By the way, How is your daughter's health or was it your DIL? anyway I am thinking of her.
We are off to our new villa again to do some more work. Maybe some day we will even get it finished and move in. Washing windows and floors today.

Good morning! I had a long sleep, much needed. Going to take a salad and ckn noodle soup for Jim's lunch. An apple and Graham crackers for dessert. He doesn't like the entrees that they serve. I don't blame him, lol. He slept well but he is coughing and sore. They said it is the clot moving around. Still waiting for reports on a few tests.
Nice, cooler today. Hopefully I can walk Honey this evening.
Marie, hope you're better now and I hope you will keep using your walker. I think the walker gives better balance than a cane.
Glad everyone else seems to be in good health and spirits. Please stay that way!

PHOEBE, I'm very sorry to read about Jim! You've had a tough time just lately and I hope you have good news from the tests the next time you post. In fact it's been a tough time for a lot of you, be it yourselves, or loved ones! the good news, as always, is the babies. Congratulations on your third grandchild PHYLLIS. I have to admit I couldn't have coped with the sheep though, especially being very close to being vegetarian and only eating eggs and fish.
After all the mishaps I'm trying to keep a low key in the accident department. That could change however because I was peering shortsightedly at my walls today, and they could all do to be freshened up and repainted. The painting I'm capable of, but not sure about tottering on a ladder!
Well, I'd better shut up, keep out of trouble, close and start thinking about lunch,

Happy Sunday!!
It is 59 degrees right now but going up to 71, tomorrow 80. My friend came over last night and I ordered some food so of course my weight is up today. This is a daily battle but I am so committed to it now I can never give up. 
No plans today but if I can motivate myself maybe I will talk a walk while it is so beautiful outside. Otherwise I will be at the computer or watching a movie.
Phoebe, I didn't realize they kept Jim in the hospital but it certainly makes sense and I am happy they did. I am sorry he is in pain but glad he slept well and thrilled you got a nice long sleep. Take care of yourself while you are taking care of Jim, don't over do. (((hugs)))
Phyllis, I love babies, you can never be in a bad mood around them, they just make me smile. They are a blessing from heaven and I am grateful. I don't know how much fun I would be but it would be great to meet you.
Shirley, poor Dave has a lot of projects to keep him busy with his retirement. Most men love to be busy though so that is a good thing. I bet you were disappointed to have to wait until Thursday and Friday to see Issac.
Jeri, Heritage Park does sound like something I would like as well as my older granddaughter. We have a couple of places that are set in the "Old Days" and they are so much fun to explore.
Patsy, I am a little OCD so I like things neat and tidy with everything in the proper place. Even drives me crazy at times. lol
Barbie, hope each day is bringing better results for your injury.

Buzz, I haven't had any trouble getting onto MFP either on my computer (Chrome or IE) or my phone....you have a never-ending social life...it would be too much for me, I like privacy and being at home alone or with Jake
Shirley, the swap get together sounds like a great idea
Jeri, I know that you are limiting your walking just like I am, glad you found something fun to do.
Patsy, I am organized but Jake leaves things in boxes and piles....there are several boxes in our garage labeled "garage stuff" that I boxed up when we moved four years ago and they haven't been opened since. I suspect that they contain things that Jake is looking for, but he doesn't look in the boxes.
Anne, I'd like to paint some rooms in our house, but I think I agree with you about the ladder. The last time I did my own interior painting was when I lived alone so I took weeks to do it and didn't worry about the disarray in the house....I did a little at a time...now you've added the extra consideration of whether I want to get on a ladder.
Sandy, every time I eat restaurant food, I know that my weight will be higher the next day because of the sodium in the food that I don't prepare myself.....after that, I just keep on keeping on.
Marie, I'm sure we'll hear from you soon. Stay safe and keep on with your new OA program.
Jackie, it sounds like your recovery is moving along well....I love hearing about your walks with George
My new prescription lists muscle pain and hot flashes as the likely side effects so I had some extra pain overnight, but even so, I felt less pain in the morning than yesterday and did more of the dog walking so Jake could sleep later. Now I'm taking it easy. He leaves on his trip tomorrow and I don't want to do anything that would cause a setback. I have many great friends who offered to help in any way when Jake is gone, but none of them will be excited to get a call before 5 AM to come over and walk the dogs.

It's football Sunday so Dave is glued to the TV between football and flipping over to the Blue Jays baseball, they are
killing it this year! My SIL Fraser is an avid baseball fan of the Blue Jays and Isaac has been to two games already.
It's a cloudy rainy day today so I decided to get groceries for South Beach today instead of waiting until tomorrow. Now doing
laundry too and getting that out of the way.
I washed bedsheets on two of our beds because we are getting company next weekend. Tomorrow will be cleaning
our downstairs to get ready for them. SANDY- I have OCD too and like things neat and clean. Yes, I was disappointed
in not seeing Isaac tomorrow but I just have to wait.

Just checking in quickly after making a beautiful wedding card for my DS (remember the story last September about delaying their wedding in Cape May so his doggie could have costly spinal surgery?) who will be married by the town clerk on Tuesday before they leave for a Paris honeymoon! What a surprise, and I'm so happy for them, with my fingers crossed that all goes well! We had told them we could not make another trip after last year's changed so abruptly, though we enjoyed being with them. I think she will be very good for him, and hope the opposite is true, as well!
Must shower and get ready for a special dinner tonight for the Rosh Hashanah holiday. We have celebrations here for every special holiday, and I am wishing a Happy New Year to all who celebrate this one. It's really lovely to be where there is loving respect for each and every one. Our Chaplain is an unbelievable man (and his wonderful wife) who understands and appeals to all of us and is the first one to appear in time of need.
Anyway, have a pleasant finish to the weekend, and everybody stay healthy! PHOEBE, we'll be thinking of you and JIM always!

Buzz - the place you live in sounds so nice. You made a great decision when you sold your place and moved in there. Ed and I are looking to the future as well. Our house really is a little too large for us but what do we do? As we travel more we hate to ask friends to look after things for us. A condo? An apartment? Or do we just hire people to do things. I do love my house tho. Oh well, not there yet, but starting to think of these things.
Shirley - Ed is upstairs watching curling. I've been listening to a good book. You said you were Getting the house ready for company. That's always an inspiration for me to do a thorough cleaning for sure.
Barbie - glad you are getting in more steps but still watching yourself. My feet were sore when I got home and I worried about today but I'm pretty good. Woo hoo. I grinned at your 5 am comment, not too many takers for that I am sure.
Sandy - Heritage Park was soooo much fun. They have old fashioned rides as well that we enjoyed going on with our 5 yr grandson. So much fun. I liked the look of your Nike page showing your walk. I use a Garmin device that does that same thing. It is very motivated for me.
Anne - painting hmmm. Stay off ladders for sure. I am such a klutz the last time I painted, I dropped an entire tray of paint on my floor.0 -

Alas Internet service is off more than on. Have been trying to watch a 24 minute video on my Roku and have only gotten to 19 minutes after trying repeatedly for 2 days.
Going to see if I can get a haircut photo posted.

Hi folks. My day did not go so well. Alice and I got out had my Mexican meal and really got sick. Going to have to pay closer station to this gluten/ We stop at Walmart and brought me a transport wheel chair will have to have one to this " Cows pasture wedding" next Saturday. This out to be hilarious, Hope they don't dump me in a mess of Cow Patties Will be taking my Camera hoped these Texas longhorn don't mind us being there I am trying to find a picture of them But since I got this PC I am using now. I having to learn things all over again.
Driving me nuts.

Happy Monday!! Robby had a slight temperature so his mommy stayed home with him. She called this morning so I went back to bed and slept another hour and a half. Today is my sorta 24 year wedding anniversary but no congratulations are in order since there is really nothing to celebrate. I am getting better everyday with my decisions and really am fine.
Marie, so happy to hear from you, I was a little worried. Please don't get dumped in any cow manure at the wedding next week, although it sounds like a good movie.
Great for you on following OA plan, first step is admitting you are powerless and have no control. Be sure to ask all restaurants if there is gluten in any part of what you order, my DIL does the same.
Lin, I must tell you how beautiful your skin is, not a flaw on it and not even one wrinkle. I know you are young but I don't think you realize how beautiful your are, so I am telling you.
Cleaning girl is coming later so I think I will try and make an appointment for a no chip manicure.

First off, I keep checking in to see how Phoebes Jim is doing and hope he is feeling much better by now. What a horrible scare! Next of course another little sweetie, Sarah, Jeri's grand child, brightens our day.
As for me, I'm happy. Mark rolled up yesterday and installed my new garage side door. It just needs a topcoat of paint. To be honest I have mixed feelings about this garage door. You see, the old door was so warped, it blew open in strong winds. Well last winter one night we had a blizzard and gale force winds and sure enough the door was open when I got up. I struggled through the drifts to close it, and all these poor birds flew out of the garage who'd spent the night sheltering! Blue Jays, Cardinals, Sparrows, you name them. Not quite the Hitchcock's movie, but still! Sort of a double garage bird house! I shall be worried about the birds this coming winter. Do I "forget" to close the door on stormy nights? Do I harden my heart and realize that when I'm no longer here, no-one else will leave the garage side door open, especially if it houses a posh new car

Marie I'm really looking forward to your description of the cowboy wedding! If you are in the wheelchair how about fixing a pair of bulls horns on the front sides. Only don't gore anybody as they gallop you across the meadow! It should be a really fun wedding. Will the groom lassoo the bride? Or have I got it all wrong?

Just thought I'd share something strange with you. As you know I have an apple tree in my front garden. At the moment it is full of red apples. I could hear people loudly talking in a language not English and I looked out of my front window. There on my lawn was a bunch of maybe Chinese or Vietnamese people. They were standing next to a lower branch full of red apples and taking individual photos of themselves and the apples. I left them to it, but why? Do apple trees grow in front gardens in Asian countries? And if not, was it a photo to send to the folks back home, much as we would take photos of, say, a paddy field. Just seemed odd, me being so used to apples growing all around us, both here and in the UK.

Hi everybody. Well I survived last night's fabulous holiday dinner without gaining an ounce. ACTS Lifecare owns over 33 communities, and recently hired one man to oversee and raise the culinary quality of its South East communities. In response to the acclaims for the matzoballs, which were served in homemade chicken soup, he told us he had personally made over 300 of them himself, and we all agreed they were light, fluffy and delicious. Most people chose the brisket, but we had the apricot-glazed Cornish Hens, and tbu hey were absolutely perfect! I even had the filling of a delicious Dutch Apple Pie, so my scale surprised me this morning by going down 6 ounces from yesterday! I must learn portion control all over again since I think that was the answer. I tasted everything and finished nothing!
JERI, dear friend, if there is one thing I might suggest (and I wish we had followed), it is do not wait until you think you are ready. Lifecare communities start with Independent Living...either your own apartment of choice (for a couple, never take less than 2 bathrooms!) or a Villa. It is like owning your own home except when things need fixing, just pick up the phone and it gets fixed! No more home maintenance! Our dinners are included in monthly fees, and I love no longer planning , cooking or cleaning up . If we waited any longer to make decisions, we probably would not have been allowed to move here since they do not take those already incapacitated. Our dear former neighbors waited too long and had to settle for moving to a nursing home after her back surgery was not successful. It was difficult giving up the waterfront home we loved, but I agree with your assessment of it being a wise move! And living here created an almost instant family, where we all look out for one another. Should either one of need to move to assisted living quarters of the Alzheimers unit, al the buildings are attached so a short walk is all it take to visit any of the medical areas. And despite now living in 2 separate apartments, our fee does not increase! The medical and Dementia units are spotless as well as odor-free! We spent 7 years investigating many Lifecare communities before deciding "we were ready", and now wish we had come earlier, to take advantage of all that is offered, including all the different types of exercise classes, computer and Tablet classes, lectures, entertainment, trips, etc that tire us out more easily at our age. Our younger residents enjoy all the activities while they are still vibrant! And when they overdo, we have rehab right upstairs on the medical floor! By the way, we had many grand and great grandchildren joining the beautiful dinner here last night, so truly, we are never isolated! Inheriting great genes help, but truly, none of us is invulnerable to the aging processes! Plan carefully! I was an avid exerciser, with my speed walking, Pilates, swimming, Tai Chi and you name it
(I really loved exercise) and today I need a walker to protect my knees, hips etc! But I love living, so when I complain, remind me, please, how lucky we are to be alive!---By the way, Sarah's daughter is simply gorgeous!
LIN, you make me want to go right out and copy your haircut, despite nut having your beautiful bone structure! I love it, and do not apologize for looking lovely Seriously, just try finger fluffing it without using a dryer, which removes much of the body of newly shampooed hair!
MARIE, oops, so sorry you were sick. I learned to not try too many exotic foods any more! OA is an excellent program! Good luck. Just stay healthy, dear!

Shirley, you are so expert at entertaining. I hope the visit is pleasant. If anyone wanted to stay here I only have a little single bed or I would give up my room and sleep on a couch. That is probably one good reason no one ever stays here. Ha.
Buzz, I think you made a wonderful choice with your place of residence. I have a friend who has not planned very well. She's in an independent living apartment but had a sudden decline in her health. She has Parkinson's and has not been able to get up on her own, dress herself, and has been having hallucinations. Her family thinks she needs Assisted Living care but I think if she is assessed they will likely say she needs intermediate care. What she didn't think through is the financial side of things. Her family says she does not have the money to pay for everything she needs now and they tell me that the facility has indicated you cannot receive Title 19 to pay for Assisted Living. I don't know but the her two daughters are totally confused at this point.
Sandy, I will say happy anniversary to you because you are a lovely and considerate lady. We are all sorry that some people fail to recognize that.
Marie, I am sorry you are not feeling well. I hope you are able to go to the wedding and that Jerry does not dump you out anywhere with the cattle!

Well, it was a busy day here with laundry, packing up a few things for Goodwill, a trip to the bank, Trader Joe's, a drive-by the library, dusting all the cobwebs in the basement, baking vegetables, and oh my gosh, I hooked up a little turntable and cleaned a couple of my old records. And yes, I listened to several of my original Beatles albums. Actually, I sang along because I've apparently not forgotten many of my favorites. That was fun and I think next I'll try to clean up a few of the 78s that were my moms. Oh and I have lots of 45s. Also started sorting through accompaniment tracks and once again, had to play some music and sing along with those. A busy day but a lot of pleasant things!
Time to post. Again, I am sorry for everyone I've missed. Hugs to all. You are such wonderful friends. Your kind comments on the picture I posted were so lovely I blushed.

Hello everyone! I will try to get this posted before it falls into that never-never land called cyberspace. I have composed several comments and as my fingers neared the post button...off everything went to outer space.
Reading about Buzz and her wise decision to join the retirement community she resides in, I get a funny feeling that I will never be in that kind of situation. My husband is an adorable crazy person. He will stay here until the grass is too tall to see the house and everything we have needs repaired or replaced. Oh dear, this picture is getting uglier by the moment. We plan ahead but not as I think we should. But that is a story you have heard from me before.
My daughter is home from the hospital but I fear that things are not going well. I have taken to asking for mystical assistance. Each night I try to think of some little thing to do for her to let her know we love and care about her. Tomorrow it will be flowers and a casserole. I truly lie in bed and before drifting off to sleep, ask for an idea to come to me in the morning. Today was a DVD and I ordered her a new robe. Okay! I know I have completely become addled.

Good Morning All,
So nice to have a morning to sit and read all the posts and think about all you friends that I have. Sounds like everyone is busy doing a variety of things. I swam this morning at 5:30,then attended a meditation activity for 30 minutes ( I go to it every Tuesday and quite enjoy the quiet meditation time) , then went to the early morning Elementary school assembly because a former teacher I worked with had her class on stage, and last of all I went shopping and bought all the things on my husbands list!!! It was after 9:00 when I got home and then we had breakfast. I feel like a nap would be in order!!!

Anne- as per the photo shoot in from of your house, I will just say that I know that Egyptians love to take photos in any place that is not like their own environment. My family in Laws will pose for pictures for hours if given the chance. Nice that you had a nice apple tree back drop for them to enjoy.
Jeri; your grand children in the pic look like they are having a blast!! Looks like a lot of fun.

My nephew completed 100 MILER this week. Can you imagine running/jogging/ for 100 miles. He did it in 35 hours. Makes me want to lay down and die just thinking about that.
O.k. Back to the business here in my house. I am not going out again today. I think I will sew something. I'm in a creative mood at the moment.
