For 2 weeks I am at same weight. Have lost minor volume... I dont understand because I am following through and yet not seeing major results. for the amount of weight I have I should be dropping pounds like mad. I eat a third of what I ate prior to Omad and before I was eating biscuits, pasta, chocolate bread throughout the day... Now I hardly eat any of those if any...

I know the theory keep going and thats it but its still discouraging when you are already doing an effort.

If I go back to caloric mathematics maybe I am moving too little and thus spending too little calories and my body is just adapting to that...
In which case I either have to move more or eat less..or fast longer

Going to remove cheese and chocolate plus carbs such as bread pasta biscuits for a while see what happens and stick to proteins and vegetables with medium fat

I hope with every fiber of my being that your plan to get the weight coming off helps. I can't imagine not dropping week after week, I'd be frustrated too. If you find yourself still in the same boat, please consider the following... I don't know why or how, but I've consistently lost weight and that includes my purposeful raising of calories. I'm not calorie counting anymore, but on the occasions I've caved and counted (after I've eaten, not before) to prove to concerned people that I'm not starving myself thin, many of my meals were near or over the 1650-1800 range. I don't think that would've continued dropping if I was too low on calories. If you look at my diary, you'll see I kept upping and upping my calories and still lost. Granted, I do work out though, and I have since starting IF back in March and pretty consistently at around 30 minutes 5-7 days a week, so not like I'm spending an ungodly amount of hours doing it. BUT, I was eating back my exercise calories starting in June. I just do HIIT with The Body Coach (Joe, such a cutie pie with an adorable accent) on YouTube, and interval walk/sprinting, or intervals on indoor bike.

I know my way is contrary to what we're told in that IF doesn't put us into "starvation mode" (I don't like the phrase, it's really a slowing of metabolism as people who are starving in the real sense of not having food available will be skin and bones, and they are not holding onto fat or gaining weight), so it's okay if we only eat 1000 calories in a day because our bodies will eat the fat and use our fat surplus as energy, but I don't know. To me, that's just not enough if it's on a daily basis. I don't know if there are enough IF studies to prove what that does over the long term. I do know what I see quite often in the IF community and mostly from women--no losses, new health issues, etc., and I can't help but think it's due to not eating enough. Our stomachs have shrunk significantly, and it's not hard to feel satisfied on so little in short amount of time. Is it safe to eat so little just because we feel satisfied? I err on the side of, "No, it isn't", and that's why I've expanded my window. If I find myself hungry before my window closes, about 5 hours, I will eat.

For all intents and purposes, and the salad making up most of my meal, I just added calories from yesterday... 1599. I had 2 servings of Kombacha Coconut Lime and 2 squares of Ghiradelli dark chocolate about an hour before I closed my window which are included in the count.

Also Sandy... I am eating a dish... a plate. So everything fits in the plate even if I take it separatedly so I am sort of following Joe´s guidelines not that I have to have his same results I am a woman menopausal etc...bodies are different, maybe there are some problems within me that I have not diagnosed which are preventing the weight drop...go figure.

In 2 days it will be 2 months into Omad. total weight loss now 8 kilos, if we consider 2 kilos could be a drop in water for starters, we are talking 6 kilos in 2 months, being so overweight its really really slow... means 3 kilos a month for someone who has to drop 70 or 75 kilos its real slow plus in the last 2 weeks no weight loss... uh?

Exercise may very well help, it certainly wouldn't hurt. :-)

Please know that was only sharing my experience with you as food for thought, only. I thought I'd gain eating more calories as well. At first I was afraid to eat more, it went against everything I've ever heard on how to lose weight. I started at 224.8 pounds, 3% shy of being morbidly obese, and eating more has brought me to where I am now. If eating more caused me to gain, I would've cut back, but it hasn't. If I plateau for a period of time and/or gain weight, then would I start cutting down on my intake. I'd rather make cuts from the high number I'm currently eating, than to have had to cut if I were eating 1200 calories or less a day.

I know this thought goes against the grain, but I think if we aren't eating enough on IF, that the positive effect IF has on metabolism will become negated and it's no different than being on a low calorie diet. I can't prove it, just my opinion based on people I see struggling on IF whether 16:8 or higher.

Barb, don't be discouraged. I was on Dr. Berg's site and he was giving a testimony of a lady he was working with who had a lot of weight to lose and the first month she didn't lose much weight but the second month she lost 23 pounds and kept losing after that. His reasoning was that the body was doing repair/healing first and then it could drop the weight.

Your body may be doing some internal things and once done, the weight will come off. His philosophy is get healthy to lose weight not lose weight to get healthy. Your body may be in the process of getting healthy so that it can shed the pounds.

Stay the course, and I am sure you will see big results.

Yes I know the theory Tracey and you might be right...need to keep going. What I really want to get clear is that you actually do loose the weight on one meal a day or not.

Even other groups there are people secretly eating less than a meal a day then they claim their success on OMAd which is not true... some do 72h fast then eat one omad and back 72h fast. But they claim their success on OMad. In my book that is OMAD minus 3 (3 skipped Omads)

Maybe your body need a quick shock (7 days water fast), just to start the process of losing weight ?
Of course, you need to be healthy to water fast. But the results are guarantee.

Yeah, I've only done one 72h fast, aside from that, I've been majority OMAD except for March I was 16:8 and June I was IF, but went a bit overboard. Lol. Been straight OMAD with expanded window now for about a month. At least the people here are honest about what they're doing and not lying. We are all over the place with how and what we are eating, fasting times, assessing, reevaluating, changing if need be... we are consistently supportive though and that's why I love this group. :)

You're so very welcome! You know, not on a weekly basis, and again... just sharing my experience. After just the one 72h fast, I did feel like it helped me even better tune into my body and gave it a reset. Maybe that'd be something to consider if you still find yourself stuck.

    Hugs beautiful lady!

If you keep a weekly weight loss chart could you post it?

Maybe you're building muscle??? It sucks when we don't know the reason :/

Have you had a splurge day yet?

Stay positive Barb. You have lost weight although maybe not as much recently I recall that you said you had lost some inches. So there are positive things going on.
What has always worked for me is to listen to my body, to go by feel, and to not be afraid of pushing the boundaries and making changes. Every time I changed things up it sparked a bit of a surge.
Changes could be in meal timing, content, quantity or exercise.

Barb, I frequently... And I mean frequently... go a week or two without losing anything and then it comes off all at once. Last time it was 3 weeks and I only lost half a pound(not even it was 0.4) but in the fourth week I lost 6 lb all at once... It's the nature of the Beast to fluctuate a little bit just don't get discouraged and stay the course it works for a reason :)

I am definitely not eating less than one meal a day - there is zero restriction going on in this body! I'm not ever sure if I'd be capable of that anymore. I do consider doing longer fast every once in a while (because of all the health benefits they are supposed to give you - especially the stuff to do with cancer cells). I can never seem to find the right time though - I think I like eating way too much.

Anyway, I can see that you would be frustrated, I would be for sure. I know it sounds crazy and goes against what a lot of the experts say, but have you considered weighing daily? I find it really helps me to see what is actually going on with my weight. Like this week for instance. If I'd only weighed last Friday and this Friday, all I would have seen would have been a tiny .6 lb drop. But the real story is that I went up a lot over the weekend and then lost that weight over the week. For some reason that made me feel better, I think I might have been disappointed if I'd only seen the .6 drop. I like seeing what different food choices do to my weight. I don't necessarily change my food choice based on what happens, but at least I know and have the option to change if I choose to. This may not be a strategy that would work for you, so ignore me if that is the case.

I do think that if you just hang on, you'll get results though. 8 kilos in 2 months is still pretty darned good. I've lost about 9/10 kilo in about 3 months, which is almost the same rate of loss as you. I know you have more to lose than me, but if you look at this as a forever thing, you will get there. I think the thing about OMAD is that it is somewhat slower than "conventional" diets, but the difference is that it's sustainable and once it becomes a way of life, you are much less likely to gain it back. This time next year you could be 52 kilos down!! Imagine that!!!
