I'm a teacher too so I hear you about the test score pressures; here's what I say to myself, I did the best I could, I taught my students well and now it's up to them. There are so many variables that don't drive yourself crazy. You are a great teacher and you mold these kids to be wonderful students.2 -
@WA_Teacher stress is such a big player in our weight loss game... hang in there
Thanks and I'm taking it one day at a time.1 -

Thanks Julie and I know you're right. My students have worked really hard and I am more focused on their effort and academic growth for the year and not just SBA summative scores.JulieAL1969 wrote: »Good day, All! The walk and tea kettle are great ideas! What grade do you teach? I teach 5th grade ELA.

Hope everyone had a great day!
I had a hard time with my water intake today but managed to get my 64oz. Tomorrow, I plan on drinking at least 8oz before each meal to help make me more aware of my water intake.

I'm also a teacher. I teach HS History and coach baseball and softball. 8 days left in school for us!3 -
@Frens0614 If eating cookies get you -20 in a week, GIVE me that recipe haha! Its all fixed for you:) How is your late night snacking going? I agree with the above with me its out of boredom or I am just thirsty.
@Lar25473 Done:) weight fixed:)
@WA_Teacher I am married to a 4th grade teacher and I know what testing does for him! I totally agree with @JulieAL1969! For stress eating have you tried to just have healthy things to stress eat on? If your teacher lounge is anything like my husbands he can't even go in there during testing, and conference week cause of all the super yummy super bad for you food.
@bisonpitcher yesterday I was teaching at the high school:) Sex Ed, lets just say they love (haha) when I get to come and be guest speaker for the day! I coached softball for several years but only at middle school level. Love BASEBALL! 12 days left for our school kids:)
@JulieAL1969 Amen! and I also love spring. Its finally nice enough here I can start planting some flowers:) I mowed my yard, and stayed outside till almost dark:)
@ToadstoolBetty how is your garden looking? Summer and eating times are so hard for me!
2 -
Since we are talking about eating times and late night snacking, what is everyone rule of thumb? Is summer harder for you?
I get home from work between 6-630 and then I change clothes go straight to the barn to ride or work in my yard, and I don't come in the house till after 9-10 so then I have to cook, and of course I am starving so I eat the whole time I am cooking and then sit down and eat again:( then fall asleep cause I am exhausted! This is a horrible horrible habit! anyone have ideas? What works for you?
@Djou11 Weights up todate:)1 -

Wow so many teachers on here. I admire your patience.., I couldn't do it (I gave my daughter's teacher,she's in jk a gift certificate for the liquor store for Christmas with a card saying "that is what I would need if I was to do your job lol)
Thank you for your hard work and dedication
@wyhorzegal thanks for updating Weights and I am not sure of what tips to give you other than maybe take a few mins when you get home to have a snack and lots of water to keep you from eating the whole time you're cooking.5 -
Thanks everyone for the support and ideas!
@wyhorzegal, yes the teachers lounge is a dangerous place for dieters. This week I've loaded extra fruit in my lunch. So far munching on mango spears is keeping me from running to my friend's classroom for a chocolate fix.

4th is a fun grade level to teach too and the standards are very similar.

Hey All, dinner out in NYC last night presented its challenges! Luckily the portion size was small. My new thing is to welcome those who want to taste what I ordered! My son is always good for that. It's funny, I used to feel very protective of my food when my kids were young. Now that I am counting every bite it seems like a great way to minimize the meals calories!
It is raining here in the Northeast...till monday! I am sick of the rain and want to get out and garden. Very chilly too.
On a good note people have been noticing my weight loss! Im up to 21 lbs and it is starting to show. 33 more to go.
Has anyone tried the online consignment store Threadup? It has been great on this weight loss journey. I have been buying clothes in different sizes so that as I lose weight I have clothes to wear! I also just bagged up a ton of XL clothes to send to them for a credit. I
Still trying on the dress for my nieces wedding that started this journey. I fell in love with a dress (the cheapest one!) in the sundance catalogue. I dont think I have worn a dress in 10 years...it just does not work with 50 extra lbs! And I have always loved wearing dresses..very sad. So, I ordered the dress in a medium and started mfp. I just decided that I am tired of wearing clothes that I dont like just because they are more slimming!
It seemed like a good time to once and for all get rid of this fat! Im 56 and would like to spend the next 30(if lucky) comfortable in my own skin! Speaking of skin I am now in possession of too much of it! Anyone have any solution for getting rid of the flabby arms and deflated souffle stomach after losing weight? Aside from surgery?

Week 2 5/10: 309.0 (holding even -- working with my doctor to implement a low carb diet. Lots of resources on he web. Heard recommendation of dietdoctor.com but if anyone has more sites that would be most appreciated.)
Week 3 5/17: 307.0 (down a couple of pounds. Getting more steps in and focusing on mindful eating.)

@WA_Teacher You were close on your water! keep it up:) are you drinking it cold or room temp? Sounds strange to ask that, but I was having troubles and someone told me to drink it room temp, and i thought gross! but its so much easier now to get all my water in!
One of best friends is my husbands co partner for 4th grade so she hides all her bad food from him so he cant cheat! haha:)0 -
@wyhorzegal I know that cookie recipe for weight loss would be perfect! I did horribly with snacking when I was home last week but so far so good since I’ve been back! I agree with a few other suggestions- maybe try eating a high protein snack before you go out to ride? That might help keep some of the hunger at bay later. When I’m cooking, I also try to chew gum or sip on seltzer to help me keep from eating the whole meal before it’s done. Just a thought?0

I entered a 5k! It's the end of next month so I have some time to work on my endurance. It is a run/walk so my plan is to try and run as long as I possibly can, and then walk if I absolutely have to. I can't run a full mile as of right now, but I have access to a treadmill and a running trail so I can build up I think right now I can only manage 1/2 or 3/4 of a mile without walking, but I know I can do better. So excited about this.2

Everyone, thank you for your support and I hope you all had a great Friday!
@wyhorzegal, I have a 40 oz water bottle that I keep in my room. Each morning I start drinking cold water but since I can't always get out of my room that much it becomes room temp. I really don't have a preference unless I'm extremely hot.
My teaching partner and I stash dark chocolate in her room. That way if I want a piece, it can only happen when I'm on a break.2 -
