WEIGHT NO MORE -- February 2019

Last Saturday's sneak peek had me at 157.4. Today's weigh in was up .6 from that. So yes I was disappointed even though I had a .6 loss. I had 2 days that I think I ate a little more than I needed to. It's not like I am striving for maintenance...I am in a losing zone. At first I felt slightly annoyed and discouraged a bit when I stepped on the scale. And then I patted myself on the back. I will learn from this past week. My solid commitment is to weigh 156.4 next Wednesday morning and I commit to actions that will support that outcome. Maybe ask Skylynn to skip the chocolate fudge cakes this week lol. But I will also say how familiar that old voice was this morning that tried to chide me into feeling bad. We don't do that anymore but it was interesting how familiar that "failure, disappointment" feeling can get us whipped up. It makes you discouraged and then you find yourself back into old habits. Not this Wonder Woman. I am on board with the winners zone and I WILL accomplish my goal of 4 pounds loss for February. After all I am already down .6. I am a rock star!!! lol4

Ok @sleepymom5 this is for you and for any one else that has a thinking problem when it comes to weight loss. I have started listening to this woman's podcasts along with phit n phat. I am also reading beck diet solution. I am really liking their approach. This is not an endorsement. It is just a suggestion. But if your going to do one of the podcasts I would start with episode 1.

WEIGHT NO MORE
As you can see by the tags listed above, Team Weight No More has a pretty good size team - approximately thirty (30) challengers.
What makes this challenge effective in helping to encourage, motivate and inspire each of us is the sharing between each other. It is very important that EVERY challenger on each team participate as often as possible. What this means is that we (The captains and moderators) ask every challenger to post on their team threads. Keep in mind that probably 40-50% of the posts are just from the team captains and motivators.
It is very important for you to share with your teammates. It is this "sharing" that help to motivate, encourage and inspire each of us (including ourselves). In addition, when you share your struggles, failures, challengers, etc., it lets others know that they are not alone in these challenges and that other people go through the same failures, the same struggles, etc...
What you should share - ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING! Share your victories, accomplishments, meals and meal preps, fitness plans, workouts, before and after photos, even whether you are having a good day or bad day. Share your failures, struggles you face in your fitness plan, challenges, tell us about those silly little 'Pepperidge Farm gold-fish' you can't stop eating (ok, that's my bad)... Literally anything.
Simply put - PLEASE, don't just post when you are posting your weights. It is important that you post and share often, even daily if you can. This helps everyone, especially yourself (because we are all here for you as much as each other)...
Thanks
Steve

Daily log in for: Tuesday
Logged: No, over
Water: 72 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes strength training; 10,547 steps
The day went better than I expected. Got my strength training in first thing. After we finished shoveling, my husband let the dogs out for a romp in the snow so I got a short walk in after all. It didn't take long to get cold and tired trudging through a foot of snow. The dogs slept the rest of the day. I abstained from a post shoveling IPA and yes, you're correct @sleepymom5 it is an extended holiday when my husband is home and I try to be mindful of not letting it turn into a constant celebration. I also fueled my body with healthy snacks, drank my water as well as some tea. I'm more successful @cyndiesstufff when I prevent myself from getting too hungry. But hubby cooked dinner and I had more wine than I should have while watching the SOTU so the day ended on a failure. Today's a new day. Despite all the eating and drinking this week my weight has remained pretty consistent. Will have to see what tomorrow brings. Made an early morning run to the grocery store to stock up so am set up for success. My shopping cart became stuck in the snow so I got some steps in carrying the bags over to where my car was parked LOL. Always look on the bright side!! Another nasty day and more snow. I am ready for warmer weather!
Have a great day everyone!!

@sleepymom5 snacking is def what would kill my diet. I used to be constantly “hungry” and snack. I feel like more often I ate - more hungry I was. And more often I thought of food. If that makes sense. Just a thought. Have you tried to stick to just 3 decent sized meals a day and see if that would somewhat helped? Like 500-600cal a meal?
@cyndiesstuff i see your point with access to fridge but since I’m home all day most days I am used to that and it doesn’t Temp me I guess. Plus it’s the mental thing. I track and I really don’t want to go over. I know I can’t. I think if I was eating intuitively I’d be worse at this point.
One day I hope it’ll be natural, right now I am not strong enough to not track.
@Mrsbell8well you def can’t be disappointed.
I just thought of this yesterday. Like weightloss is not a linear thing.
You look at your success from a point of view where you were on 1st and last day of month for example.
Are you 4 pounds down? Yes?
It didn’t matter you were let’s say 157.0 on the 15th and then 158 - 3 days later. Fluctuations happen. Compare your journey - today and to a month ago, 2 months ago etc. It’s going down but it’s not a perfect line.
@eyesopennow it’s so sweet how you miss and talk about your wife!

Ok ok ok. Hit the reset button this morning. I've been doing SO bad -_-
Back to 141 consistently. Ugh.
I'm not going back the past 10 pages to get caught up with all of you... so sorry. You know I love you all dearly I just don't have time and if I tell myself I have to do that to reset it's never going to happen.
I went to the gym Monday and my tris are so sore it hurts to pick up my coffee mug. Whoops! I'll go back tomorrow. I wanted to go this morning but I had lesson plans to do before work... then I woke up late and didn't do those either. Maybe that's why I'm in such a foul mood! I hate being unprepared.
Classes tonight, gym and rehearsal tomorrow, gym and classes Friday, Rehearsal and ???? Saturday? I'm logging all of my food today too. One day at a time...3 -
I am cleaning carpets this week. What a lot of work! - more than I expected, afterall the cleaner runs like a vacuum. But you have to go over the carpet again and again. And vacuum first and last! My husband moved the furniture so that wasn't a worry. Did half the bedroom yesterday, easy peasy, the other half today and I forgot to change back to wash cycle so basically rinsed first, then wash, then rinse again. My back is starting to hurt most likely from pushing the machine around for an hour. And I still need to vacuum again. I didn't pay attention to steps or calories burned but expect they will be up for the day.
Tomorrow or the next day I will start the second bedroom and that's all the carpet in the house.2 -

Jumping in quick to see what you all have been up to
@eyesopennow Hooray! You made it! Glad your wife is coming home AND even happier that you cleaned up for her! I haven't been to a Ramen place but heard they are good. Good job bringing half of it home.
@cyndiesstuff Ugh! I hate that feeling too. Hope the rest of the day goes quickly for you.
@nstephenson01 I can't believe all that you get accomplished with all that snow! I would make it an excuse to hibernate yet you are so productive! Stay warm!
@lenka1 Maybe I need to do that. The evenings have been the worst. I have to start paying attention if I am really hungry enough that I have to eat.
@DananaNanas Lol! Do not go back and read all the posts. I am sure you can just catch up from here on in. Sounds like your life has been crazy busy. Just take a deep breath and do the best you can. One day at a time. You can do it!
@pacsnc6 I actually need to do that too...Ugh! At least you are getting your steps in and everything will be so clean and fresh when you are done!
@steplaj You are so right, checking in did make a huge difference for me!

I have made a commitment (worse than that, I have made a spreadsheet) to give myself a treat for my next birthday -- my 60th. I am going to have walked at least three million steps between now and then. That's an average of about 8200 steps a day which sounds light, but it includes all the 100 degree days and 10 degree days here, and rainy or snowy or hurricane days, and my busy season at work. It includes yoga days when I average about 6000 steps. If I succeed, I will have walked about the distance from Washington DC to Dallas, TX. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Feel free to suggest places to visit along the way!
Valentine's Day will mark the halfway point. Here's the February progress report, as of yesterday:
Steps since 8/15: 1,568,380 (versus target to date of 1,438,356)
Miles since 8/15: 697 (versus target to date of 639)
At my current pace, I will complete the challenge on July 15, which is 29 days early.
At my current pace, I will exceed the target steps by 271,160 on the end date of August 14.

So this new lifestyle, I always feel like I have the hungry head ache. They said you would. But when you start eating healthy you should lose weight right away, isn't that how it works??? I took a sneak peek, I know it's only been a few days of these shakes but the scale was up. This scale does not like me. My plan for this weekend , I will be sitting in a hospital for most of it with my son. Good thing hospital food isn't that great so that's helpful. Will probably come home to grab some food, I will get my exercise in. I won't exercise Friday because we have to be to the hospital at 6am. Not that it would really put me getting up to much earlier than I do now but I'll take a rest day.3

Daily check in for Tuesday
Food - logged & under
Water - 700 ml
Exercise - 7301 steps, no physio exercise due to pain
Sorry guys for not checking in for several days. My husband was away and I had to do all of the hockey driving for a few days, resulting in a bad sciatica relapse (it is my right leg, so the hours of driving was so bad). I have been in a lot of pain and very down. Am feeling like I will never run again. I was able to keep up with logging and step counting. I had a physio session today. She adjusted my exercise program and she did some deep tissue massage and acupuncture too, which helped a lot. My physiotherpist says that it is very common to be on the mend and then have a relapse like this. I am happy to have some pain relief today and will start up my new physio exercise program in the morning. I am busy with work too, but I can balance it all. I have been going through posts and the photos in particular are lovely! As for the weekend, my main plan is to drive less and stay true to my physio program.3 -
I asked my daughter not to throw out any clothes unless I got first dibs. She brought me a large bag of her junior small and medium size clothes. I showed Molly her itty bitty short shorts. We laughed and said that I could wear them poolside with my bikini.

@eyesopennow That is awesome! Thanks for posting your progress. You are doing great! It must be nice to look back and see how far you have gone!
@ljdanny Hang in there. It has only been a few days so I am sure that it may take a little longer to see some results. Good luck this weekend. This is supposed to be his last surgery right? You will probably get a lot of steps pacing around the waiting room. Don't worry about anything but your son. That is what is important!I will keep you all in my prayers. Hugs!
@Cafelelia Oh no! That is terrible! I hope you are feeling better soon. I am glad that a flare up isn't uncommon. Hope you are back to you were before all the driving soon. Hugs!
@Mrsbell8well Omg! So cute! I am afraid they may be too big by the time the weather is warm enough to wear them! You look fabulous!3 -

I drank my water, got my steps in, listened to the podcasts, wrote in my journal, listened to my body for when i was hungry and when i was full, stayed on track. Success! that is day three. I deserve credit for these acts. It wasn't easy but someday soon it will be. These will become just how i live my life.
How is everyones weekend plans coming along? Did you write it down?
@lenka1 it sounds like you have a plan for success. it is wonderful that you and your husband can do it together. mine doesn't want to. so i have to be good at saying no. and you are right. we all need to look at our situation from a broader view. the big picture.
@sleepymom5 I know first had the cycle you are stuck in. you feel bad, you eat to feel better, and you do for a few minutes, then you feel worse. we need to learn how to break the cycle. keep working Pam. it's tough but your tougher!! give yourself credit today for making a plan. it all starts with the little things.
@Mrsbell8well you cannot strive for perfection. we are human beings and are inherently flawed. i am taking your bat away. you should not beat yourself up. this is a tough task. We all have our issues. a big part of losing weight and keeping it off is our mindset. work a little this week on some much needed self care. you are the only you you will ever have. those shorts are cute!! look at you rockin those shorts. AWESOME!!!
@nstephenson01 i agree you should not let your hunger get to bad. keeping your body fueled is important.
@DananaNanas you don't have to start from the beginning. we will meet you where you are at. are you still going to counciling? Working on the mindset for weight loss is very important to success.
@pacsnc6 ohhhh my. cleaning carpets are hard work. at least you didn't have to move the furniture. lol. and your such a human being. you forgot to change it back to wash. lol. you just wanted to burn more calories.
@eyesopennow look at you go! good job at making a commitment and keeping track of it. amazing.
@ljdanny i tried the shake thing. and i agree, i always had a headache too. maybe try drinking some more water. i will be praying for wonderful things for your son. he has been thru so much.
@Cafelelia ohhh no. it is so easy to reinjure yourself. i hope it is a quick heal.
@eminater you know, your post struck me. why don't you see yourself in short shorts? maybe you should. what will you look like when you are at your goal? what does that look like? really picture it and then what do you have to do today to get there.
@bbcbw yayay! starting out february with a loss. good job. keep up the hard work.

@cyndiesstuff I haven’t since mid January. My therapist kind made me mad about something so I haven’t scheduled an appointment. Not to say that that is the mature way to handle the situation or that I don’t need it but I may take a break for a bit. Honestly the yoga retreat I went to helped with my mindset more than anything. And my therapist doesn’t understand that I want to lose weight. She thinks I have an eating disorder. Nah lol been there done that... she didn’t know me then. I’m just trying to be comfortable in my skin and be able to perform on stage and teach classes with confidence.4

I didn't snack at night!! I wanted to but I kept telling myself I wasn't hungry and I would be happier in the morning. Today I am going to do the same thing! I am not sure about my weigh in tomorrow. I don't think I have gained but not sure about a loss after my snacking this week. Oh well, onward and upward. Hope everyone has a great day!
@eminater Glad to hear you are feeling better!
@bbcw Nice loss! Hope all is going well
@cyndiesstuff Ahhh, to the days when these are all daily habits. I know we will get there as I have many healthier habits now then I had in the past. You are doing great! I am back to my book. I feel like the beginning of the book are already ingrained, the hunger part is the toughest part I have hit in that book.
@danaNanas The same thing happened to my daughter. We went to a doctor to get a referral for a dietician and both the doctor and the dietician said she had an ED because she wanted to lose weight. She is 5'8" and 150. She isn't overweight but would like to lose 15. She likes how she looks and feels at 135lbs. I am sure if she gained 15 they would all think she needed to lose. We finally got the dietician to understand and she looked at her food diary and saw a few things she was doing wrong. They were so easy to say she had an eating disorder just based on her being a normal weight and wanting to lose instead of giving her the help she was asking for. It is so frustrating.

As I way laying awake in bed this morning, wishing I would go back to sleep, I was contemplating all the reasons why it is so much difficult for me to lose weight. There are many reasons, I decided. But even tho there are many reasons, it is still ultimately my choice. It's not like eating that cheeseburger was done automatically, like your heart beating or swolling, or blinking, or breathing. I had to think about it and eat it. I had made a decision. As I was mulling this over, I decided to make a list of all the excuses .... all the justifications that I use for not controlling my life. Lets take them one by one:
1. Everyone on my mothers side is fat.
2. I have chronic pain.
3. The medication I take makes me gain weight.
4. The ole boy sabotage's my eating plan all the time.
5. I don't have energy to cook.
6. I work to many hours.
7. Its my time of the month.
8. It's harder for women.
9. I'm old
10. I can't afford to go to the gym.
Now all these thing may be true but in the end, it is still my choice. I can continue to justify why I won't put in the work and continue to be over weight or I can say:
1. My Aunt Helen wasn't fat
2. My client has chronic pain and she is not overweight
3. Many people take medication and don't become overweight
4. He can eat what he wants, I decide what goes in my mouth
5. I can cook when I am tired.
6. Just more reason to eat healthy.
7. Eating food is not automatic, you have a choice.
8. It is slower for women but we can do it. many women have.
9. It is slower for old people but we can do it. many old people have.
10. I can work out at home.
It seems like I always have an excuse. But I am not going to let myself explain away my bad eating choice. I do have a choice. It may be hard. But I need to get my head in the game. I choose to put the food in my mouth. It is not automatic.
Exercise for today:
Think about what your excuses and really examine them for what they are. Excuses. Make a choice today... No more excuses.
