Howdy all y'all. It's merciless Monday! Yet another hot one with no chance of rain. My "first of the month" money finally posted, so a big Kroger run is on today's agenda. I just might get lunch while out, though I have plenty o lamb, carrots, potatoes, and gravy left. My breakfast plate looked a whole lot like last night's dinner!
    Good Morning Ed
Another hot day in paradise for both of You
Yesterday and Today the predicted high are 70 to 72 degrees. Tomorrow starts a stretch of 80s with overnight lows in the upper 60s so it could be worse for us.

Your first of the month money posted Monday and my Pension check arrived in the mail around 3:30 PM to late to run to the bank. Today my to do list is simple. Bank, Post Office, Call NS and see if they can suspend the account since I will not be able to handle the delivery weight for 2 plus months or I'll have to cancel.

Hint Drive don't run to Krogers

I have been know to eat dinner for breakfast and a breakfast for lunch or dinner. I do not feel the need to hew to the convention that the only meal for breakfast is breakfast food.

Eating out could help avoid getting tired of eating the same thing for several meals in a row, OTOH I could eat Cheeseburgers and fries or pizza all week long, so...
HUGE Cereal Haul - What Cereals To Buy & Avoid At the Grocery Store!
I'm starting to watch this but I have a good idea of what ones to avoid. I like Grape Nuts, so crunchy. It looks like I should not re-buy the Shredded Wheat once I finish it. I tried the Alpen Muesli, pass. Cheerios  Most of the cereals he showed I do not recall seeing on the shelves, Non sweetened seem to be on the wane.
BTW Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat seems to have disappeared from the cereal aisle here.
I Made Giant 50-Pound Pancakes For The Try Guys
it would appear that the reality is a 50 pound stack of pancakes not a 5o pound pancake.
The cooking took a long time and I suspect that the pancakes were cold by the time they were served as they were cooked one at a time. I base that in part due to the butter not melting
EPIC SOY FREE VEGAN TAKE OUT | burmese tofu
Hmm... Soy free Vegan, how good can it taste ? I'll discover as I watch.
The teriyaki tofu noodles looked pretty good. The peanut tofu salad sounds a lot like a Thai Salad, Am I wrong ?
VEGAN BLTA BOWL W/ VEGAN SOFT BOILED EGGS (EASY GRAIN BOWLS EP #1)
I do disagree with calling them Soft boiled eggs  If You were to call them Vegan Egg Look alikes I have no problem or am I being picky ?
How to Make Our Recipe for Panang Beef Curry
Curry :( Well marbled beef  She made it much to hot for my taste.
I made it out to Kroger and it wasn't too bad. I didn't get EVERYTHING on the list, but I did get all the critical stuff and quite a bit of the non-critical (but would have needed fairly soon) stuff. $126.92 later, I got home and unloaded what seemed like a paltry amount of groceries. Back in the day, that much money would have got me at least 5 week's worth of stuff.
I agree that food prices are not what they used to be add in the shrinkage in the weight of the packages of food and what used to buy a heaping shopping cart now pays for maybe a half filled cart :(

    Have a Good Day

    Good Morning! Monday!
Was 65 degrees when I woke, and is now 67...the brief wild storm that blew thru and 'cleaned' everything...it smells incredible too! Had my coffee out in the swing while Tom E. ate his breakfast. I really didn't want to come in! I may need to find a sturdy small table to put out there so I can take my laptop out on these sweet cool mornings.

Watched the 'mock' tofu video...or at least that portion of the video. I love using Besan/chickpea flour.
Ted's coming out this morning for yard work, and he was planning to wash my car...but I sorta did that the other day, so we'll wash his!
The box I was after last week Roger was my mushroom coffee, and I got varying messages about its where abouts. From 'Delivered' to 'Incomplete address'. (the address was perfectly correct FWIW)... but always saying it was out for delivery. Right now there's a package from an insurance co. "out there, somewhere". Waiting for it to show up, cuz I'm really curious to see what it is. Don't know the company...didn't request any kind of new insurance, etc.
Pretty sure the temp will warm quickly, and be steamy as well. I think we're in for another 90 degree day.
    Good Morning Valerie
Those are nice temperatures to sit on a open or screened in porch which I wish we had, oh well.

You got to love the technology that lets You track from shipper to You door

Where did You see that You had an insurance Co. package ? There are a lot of scams out there. In the last week I had two different emails saying Invoice with no company name. One wanted me to open a probably malicious attachment and the other had a spoofed likely malicious link to see the invoice.
Hope you both have a good day. Glad you were able to get your handicap sticker Roger! Nice to have if you need it. I've seen so many people misuse them. lIke the guy who would come to the gym...park in the nearest handi spot, with handi sticker and then come in walk on the TM, use machines, etc...one day I just couldn't stop myself from asking why he thought he needed a handi sticker, and how did he even get it??? He would drive his wife's car, SHE was the handicapped one..he was just a jerk.

Ed, saw the pix of the two cats sleeping together! That's exactly what Tom E. needs! He was fine until he was the lone cat. Hope you can beat the crowds at Kroger this morning. Don't know about you Kroger, but it doesn't pay to go too early to mine, as a lot of the produce has not been put out. Which frustrates me, cuz primarily that's what I buy!!

Well, Ted's here, and he's mowing, so I need to get going too.

    Later...
I'm not surprised that he was doing that. You should call the police anonymously since that is a expensive ticket-able offense to misuse them like that. Mine is subject to forfeiture if used by anyone else. I will be handy today at the post office.
I have seen people swoop into a handicap spot hang the placard and trot into the store.
BTW in NJ You can get a Handicap License plate or a placard to hang on the mirror.

You could be right about Your cat being lonely.

My brother mowed yesterday so that's done until next week.

    Have a Nice Day

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! Another pretty warm one with no chance of rain. Today I intend to get out and purchase the rest of the list, along with watering some things, and getting the garbage and recycles to the curb for tomorrow's pickup.

    Hello Ed
There is a chance of spotty rain showers in the area and a forecast high of 86 to 87 depending on the weatherman.

    Back to Krogers or ?

As I may have mentioned previously our every two weeks recycle pickup is on a different day than the Garbage pickup as well as being a different day from the Yard waste pickup. I do not know if it is the same where You are but all the recycle can co-mingled and is dumped into the same place in the garbage truck on pickup day. From there I believe it goes to a sorting facility.

I need to call NS and ask them to suspend the account for two or three months since I will have a 5 to 10 pound weight lifting restriction. That may be a problem since I already delayed it to July for the same reason and if they say no then I have no choice but to cancel and ask how long before I can take advantage of new customer offers.
He's making them vegan but I'm sure similar REAL burgers could be done.

Hi..7 pm news is starting...boy I'm really late...and I still need to go to the gym.....egads!
Intown visit with chiro, lunch with Ted, then we decided since the temps were low, and the humidity even lower to go to the Botanical Gardens...I was about 10 minutes from home when Jack called...(its Tues). So, talked to him til 5:30...fixed some dinner as I was really hungry...now I"ve eaten, want to watch the news and then hit the gym. Quick work out..30-35 minutes cardio..then I should run by Publix pick up a lottery ticket and then home! I'll sleep well tonite..already tired.

Roger, besides not being able to walk, (which must be tough for you considering all the steps you've put in over the last several years), how are you feeling? And do you have a date for surgery? I'm so glad you have your brother to help you thru all of this.

I'm sure Tom E. is lonely...I'm just not a cat, a point he drives home on occasion. Like ignoring me, or hopping up and leaving the porch, etc. I dunno!!!

Gotta get moving...need to get into my gym clothes for starts.

    Later...
    Hello Valerie
Wow, You had good weather for a change

I hope the lottery ticket wins for You.

I do have a date for the surgery, First thing is Pre admission testing next week. More details tomorrow once I have had a chance to think about details. Not to mention I have no idea if the testing could be a problem.

I miss not getting out as You guessed.

I am feeling somewhat weak as in no endurance.

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! Yesterday I went to the pet store for kitty litter, then Publix (in the same shopping center, but part of the other building, around a corner) for a few items, and a quick stop at Aldi on the way home. I never got more than a mile from home! I had a lot fewer items, but the weight of the kitty litter more than made up the difference on bringing things in. I also didn't spend nearly as much, but still more, in my opinion, than the stuff should have cost. I picked up lunch while in Publix.

Today is supposed to be fairly nice, albeit a bit warm. I need to do some more watering, and really should try to get a head start on some cleaning, and maybe some laundry, On the other hand, as Scarlett supposedly said, tomorrow is another day!

    Hello Ed
You had a busy day IMO. I do have to wonder if the Kitty Litter would have been cheaper at CostCo. Speaking of CostCo I was checking the Paper Goods supply and we have plenty of Paper Towels and Kleenex and only one 6 roll pack of TP left. To me that means a early before they open trip to pick up up a case of TP there.

Today's To Do list, Call NS and see about a extra 2 or 3 month delay, resign as moderator or see about Emeritus status at a forum and drop off the keys while they are open and the car later on at the Car repair facility we use. The car is due for its every 2 year inspection, an oil change based on time not mileage, Lube the driver door hinges, Fix the Drivers side window switch (Change ?) and repair the speed control on the fan, the lower three speeds have died :(

Our streets are still drying off from the overnight rain, That would be the rain that my brother predicted we would not get

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! Cooler today and we have already had a few drops of rain, with more expected. But maybe I should go out to a store and give Mother Nature a chance to soak me, just to be sure.

I made bolognese pasta sauce last night and served it with rotini made entirely from red lentils. That was supper, and then breakfast this morning was more of the same, as will be at least two more meals. With that sauce, I really couldn't tell that the rotini was different than regular wheat pasta. It was fun trying it out and I may buy more sometime. It has more protein than wheat pasta and, being lentils, presumably better carbs.

    Hi! I'm here!
I should have taken notes...lots of stuff there to open discussion!
The call night before surgery to learn Time and Where is indeed odd Roger. Never heard of that. But I guess you have many more hospitals/OR's than many of the places I've lived. Still, just odd.
Ostrich huh? Probably not any better or worse than what we have now, right? I was happy to see some articles lately about chicken not any better than beef health wise. Wasn't always that way. Wonder how it compares to rare duck breast?? That is/er, was sooo good!!!
I didn't watch Emmy...can't wait to see what those cookies? bars? are!
    Hello Valerie
The only rationale I can come up with is that they have bought so many other hospitals and expanded all over the area. The place where I need to go for preadmission testing covers a city block including the parking garage. And I agree it seems odd.
Ed, I tried...after gym, about noon, I came home and ate my lunch so I wouldn't buy EVERYTHING at Kroger. And I stayed dry. Didn't get the 3-5 a.m. rain, not the later morning rain, and none of the afternoon rain either! I've even washed the car.... I think my 'rain maker' powers are waning! It was nice as far as temps went. I think tomorrow may be a yard morning. (we'll see if that tempts old Mother Nature!) ???

Hockey game to watch in half an hour. (I failed miserably, and forgot to watch the game Monday...must be getting old).
While at Kroger I picked up a package of vegetable sushi. Saving that for while I watch the game tonite. My Kroger has some really good sushi...Publix on the other hand is a total FAIL. Has some weird taste..like its not even close to fresh. Fortunately no sea food, or such involved..just carrot, cucumber, avocado, etc. I really like it...and it makes a decent dinner or lunch for just under $6.
Rain maker powers must be fading if even washing the car did not bring rain. Maybe we have used up all of the planets magic
It worked for my brother, Car washed Wednesday and Thursday road spray from the rain restoring the grime

It could be that since there is no seafood that Publix is pushing the Sell By Date to far out ?
That gif of the 'bubble' people running around and colliding and falling...always looked like safe fun...but I've read otherwise. Still....

The whisking...I always 'did' a combo depending on what I was whisking...but I have noticed that Ted does the back and forth motion (like the one what 'won'). Guess he picked that up from his years of working in restaurant kitchens. I know he learned to make some great pies, and killer chocolate chip cookies!!! I had to ask him to please stop making them every time I was coming to his apartment. They smelled sooo good. Not much is better than coming out of the oven chocolate chip cookies!!! And Ted can't smell. Sad!

    Ok, game time is approaching...

    Later...
That's news to me, I would have sworn that being wrapped up like that was safe, Oh well.

I think the smell of bread baking is a tie with cookies TBH. And then Slicing it while still hot and letting the butter melt into it, Oh my, so good.

    Hi
Currently It is 65 degrees outside. The predicted high for today is once again in the 80s :(

I called NS yesterday and the person I spoke to adjusted the order as follows. Processing On: 09/05/2019

I got the car back $402.60, Considering the List I had not that bad
    1. State Inspection
    2. Oil change and filter using Synthetic Oil.
    3. Lubed the Door hinges, the noise was atrocious.
    4. Replace failed fan speed resistor, I only had the top two noisy speeds left.
    5. Replace the Driver side power window switch.

I should be hitting 17,000 miles on the car soon, I already filled the gas tank once this year  I suspect that a lot of the repairs were due to really short trips with the car since it was new in 1999

Good Morning! Rainy...don't know how much. I've evidently changed the settings on my outside rain monitor, and I've 'had no rain'...but, the big puddle in the driveway, and a semi wet cat disproved that idea!! I don't know where Tom E. hid out from the rain, but his back quarters were wet...meaning 3/4ths of the cat was dry! He was hungry!! Also sat with me on the porch swing for about 5 minutes, purring sweetly. and keeping his claws retracted. (that's a near first, and very appreciated)

I doubt the issue with Publix is old seafood, as my sushi is meat free!

I need to duck out and retreive the trash thingy...you remember my old friend..."Herbie Curbie" ??? LOL! Its not raining and the driveway lake is down just enough that I can walk around it! Ok, done.✓
    Hello Valerie
Interesting, I hope You get the rain gauge working again. Can't the cat get on the porch to stay dry during rainy weather ?

I was not saying old seafood, I was trying to indicate that maybe the other ingredients were old ?

Driveway Lake  The puddle at the foot of the sidewalk is always a lot smaller than at the foot of the driveway. My suspicion is that all these years going in and out have deepened that area.
I did watch the French Toast...the vegan one did look interesting, and was well liked apparently! Not likely to make it..though I should, just for grins.

And the cartoon of the keys to the lock, being locked onto the lock...I've actually seen that happen when I worked at the gym.. solution? buy a new lock!

Thanks Roger for the schedule update. That's one week less time to worry/fret over the upcoming surgery.
Will watch for an email from 'brother'. (wonder if he'll include his name, or just sign it off as 'brother'? )

Ok, I need to make some use of my rainy day and go to the gym later this afternoon...like between noon news and about 2:30. (don't want to workout during my nap time!!!) Also Friday traffic around here is so messed up. Folks trying to get shopping or other issues done 'before the rush', and the leaving early, its Friday mentality, which therefore creates traffic issues! Kinda amusing if you think about it!

    Later...
If I said that non of those looked like any kind of french toast that I would eat...

I have to wonder how the heck You could think that was a good idea locking the keys on the lock.

I have no idea how he will sign it, That never occurred to me to think about.

I always wondered how employers feel about the workers that leave early on a Friday. All that does is extend the rush traffic IMO.

    Have a Nice Day

    Hello Ed
You may be glad, I'm not so sure I like our forecast for the upcoming week.
Currently they are predicting rain on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday being the day I have to drive through rush hour traffic for the pre-admission testing and little ole me not having driven through rush hour traffic in the 90s :(
The last job I had that started in the mid 90s and lasted 16 years I could leave home at 9:50 AM and be at work for the 10 AM open and the return home was after the rush hour so I am not looking forward to rush hour in the rain.

Hopefully You did not have to go anywhere.

    OK!!
Looks like I watched video's read articles, and then..just didn't comment. I'm listening to a series about Herbs, Mushrooms, etc. Fascinating stuff! I've been known to eat some weird stuff...like cat tails that grow in ponds, or the flowers of that orange lily that grows along railways or country roads...etc.

Stayed home today! No gym...just me an my recumbent bike here at home. Visited with my friend, Laundry. did a little cooking, etc. and of course there was Tom E. And yes Roger he has access to the screened porch 24/7. Yet he hangs out on the roof rain or shine. (until he's hungry, then he comes to the door and yells!!! LOL! Also there was a short nap.
    Hello Valerie
There are a lot of plants that are edible but not eaten normally. Something I had not thought about however is with Cattails You would only want to eat the ones grown in clean water.

Weird Cat, I do wonder if the hanging out on the roof is a hunting thing to locate prey ?
At this point, the kitchen is cleaned up, meals are planned for the next 2 days... and I'm ready to crawl into my bed and play games on the iPad. Ted beat me at our Scrabble game and started a new game, so I have some thinking to do. And as always a game or so of Suduko...maybe a jigwaw puzzle, and somewhere along that list of games I fall asleep. (usually with the lights on and ditto for my glasses!!)

Rained a lot here...over 2 inches today. Weather folk say more tomorrow and Monday... killjoys! No, we really needed the rain. Maybe not quite this much all at once...but will take it!!!

I'll try to check in earlier tomorrow...oh, and I had a Mega Millions ticket...won nothing. But still have a ticket to cash in from last week...I understand somebody in I think California won the big Mega Millions jackpot...oh, well!!!

    Later...
You plan meals ? I wing it and often what I bought planning to eat ends up in the freezer. Such as the Moo Goo Gai Pan.

They never added to the reservoirs for Atlanta I'm guessing and that would be despite the expanding demand for water.

As I remember from the the TV news the winning ticket was purchased in a deli in San Diego, Ca. They also listed the areas with million dollar tickets, all on the west end of the country :(

    Have a Nice Day
