Managed 11k steps yesterday, even after driving 1000 miles. Having you all here motivated me to get it done. Hot and humidity here in North Carolina, so I'm walking in Walmart twice a day. Anyway, stay strong all, I know many of you have some big physical issues, but the dog and I are sending positive vibes your way.

    Mike

Where are you in NC? I grew up outside Raleigh.

I was in New Bern/Aurora. Left today for west Texas. Spending the night in Vicksburg, MS

    How was the race?

Started off waaaay too fast. Did not realize the amount of inclines and hills were ahead of me. Ended up 27:58. Lmao walked straight to the car after I was done, drove home and jumped into the bathtub

PW: 143.9 pounds (down 1.2 pounds)
    CW: 147.7 pounds (up 3.8 pounds) :o:s:(:'(

Since starting back on my journey at the beginning of the year I had been doing well.
I had many weeks with losses and was losing slow and steady which is how I like to do it.
The weeks I gained I felt they were reasonable, normal gains/fluctuations.
Well, since being unwell at the beginning of May and losing 6 pounds in the course of 2 weeks my body has had a lot of trouble righting itself back to slow and steady.
I had 1 week when I managed to maintain the loss then after getting back to regular eating consistently I gained 4.3 pounds then tried to get back on track and lost 1.4 pounds then lost 1.2 pounds so thought I was back at it then today I gained 3.8 pounds.
I know weight goes up and down but I don't like the bigger jumps up and down.
I know my body has a mind of it's own and doesn't always do what I want it to do or what I think it should do and it fluctuates as it pleases.
I also know I have been doing very well with walking most days for about an hour but I have still been struggling with healthy eating, cooking from scratch, cutting out junkfood, cutting out processed food, and controlling the amount I eat.
When I go through weeks of bigger ups and downs I have to push myself to stay the course as whenever I see bigger gains I get frustrated and want to throw in the towel.
I have worked too hard to lose it to allow myself to gain it all back so I am working to keep myself pushing on.
The good news is, I was actually up around 5-7 pounds on other days when I did a quick scale check (not always at the right time of day though) so I am at least happy that seeing those gains and seeing 150 again shocked me enough to turn things around enough to only have to post a 3.8 pound gain today.
Will keep trekking along but gets frustrating when I was so close to 140 about a month ago and now I am close to 150 again.
Yes, I know, I did it once, and I can do it again but as you all know it is a tiring process!
I do know the reward at the end will be worth it when I hit my goal weight though.
    So I keep chugging along.
    Choo choo!
Is it bad that when I see choo choo I see the word chocolate and want chocolate?!!!!

Make small changes each week. Do you log your food? If not, make that your goal for the week. Any of the things that are giving you trouble, can be a new goal each week. Trying to change everything at once can be overwhelming.

Yesterday my son took us to a Mennonite restaurant just north of Stratford. The chicken was fantastic and so was the cheesecake. The serving were so big that we have leftovers for tonight’s supper. They have an awesome bakery, I was good and only bought some squares. To all my Ontario teammates, check it out if you are in that area.

Have a great Sunday. I am doing some walking today so time for my next mini walk.

Good morning Downsizers. Here are my numbers:

    Member: rwillems
    Weigh-in day: Sunday
    PW: 284.4 lbs
    CW: 284.6 lbs

Not bad considering I spent most of last week travelling throung Northern Michigan's land of fudge and ice cream shops! And I was good!.Promise! 🤞🏻

Anyway, I feel good. I am back to journaling and being careful about late night snacking (my absolute down fall). Had my annual physical earrlier in the week and Doc says everything looks good (of course dropping 50 lbs would make everything better). He suggested one excercise to aid in in my weight loss journey:

"1.. About midway through dinner, put both hands against the edge of the dinner table.

    2. Push against the table so your chair slides backward. Be careful not to tip the chair over.

    3. When you have extended your arms all the way out. Stand up. Pick up your dinner plate, walk to the kitchen sink and rinse it off.

    4. Walk out of the kitcken and do not return untill your next meal.

    5. Make sure you count all your steps as you leave the kitchen."

I actually sat there on the exam table thinking he was imparting some fantastic weight loss scheme. LoL! My doctor is a real comedian.
