A quiet day and it rained nonstop so apart from a short walk on the moors and hoovering the downstairs rooms, I have relaxed, read and written some emails. Betty is still suffering with her tummy upset so I did some research and think it was my fault because I changed her food to a lighter senior dog kibble that might be too rich. Since adopting her she has always eaten a special bland weight loss brand and in retrospect can see her system couldn’t cope with the change. She is now back on the original so I hope to see big improvements.

Lin, every now and then I take a look at Hallmark movies on YouTube but sometimes cringe at both the storyline and acting. Great for a break away from bad news days though!

I’m sorry for your loss Sandy. Another busy week ahead!

    Stay safe and warm.

Good evening. Another cold day. Popped out to pick up boxes on my porch a couple of times and spent way too long in a very cold garage knocking down boxes.

Watched church online, did too many cardio classes and started my Care December 2024 art journal. First day prompt today but the overall color is pink. That’s fairly difficult for me as I am not a pink fan. Blue would be no issue. 😁

Today was salmon pink. 🤷🏼‍♀️. Ugh.

Jackie, hopefully the switch back to her former food will help Betty’s digestion. 🤞🏻

Sandy, a bit of time to yourself this week but it doesn’t sound like a lot.

    Take care everyone.

Hello, Tuesday already. I didn’t get around to posting yesterday. I was working indoors and thought my handyman would shovel the snow but later in the afternoon, it was evident he wasn’t going to show up. So I got the trash ready to take out and then scooped the driveway and the sidewalks. When I came in, I made a bit of something to eat and just ran out of steam. Thought I might take a quick nap but alas, I never got back any energy at all.

So good morning, I have errands to do today. Waiting a bit hoping for a little warm up. We do have some sunshine today. But really, it feels like winter.

    Hope everyone is okay.

Happy Tuesday! :) Sunny but cold. I am hoping to put my wreath on my balcony although I should wait to the weekend when the temps are going to be higher. I did put up my inside and hallway decorations yesterday so feel good about that. Tonight Robby has a recital where he is playing the clarinet. I thought it was late afternoon but found out it is at 7:00. I am planning on going to the Dollar Tree for my Christmas cards today if I don't get distracted by other things. I ordered all my pet presents for the pets in my family and waiting for the rest of the kids presents to arrive from Amazon. The older ones get checks so I am almost finished with all the shopping.

Lin, you have snow? We are lucky so far with no snow and I hope it stays that way. It is really cold though so maybe to cold to snow. Try to get some rest today, you are wearing yourself out.

Jackie, I hope Betty is better today. We could only give Daisy chicken and rice because of her sensitive tummy. I am so happy to hear Anne is doing much better. Is there a chance she will return to us one day?

Have a good day and stay warm.

I seem to have missed 2 days posting! Not sure how. Yesterday was cold but sunny so a few jobs were achieved outside. I’ve ordered fuel for the stoves to arrive Thursday and needed to tidy the log store to make room. Someone has cut down a fir tree that I had planted by the side of the entrance track when I first moved here. It had been a potted tree used as a decoration the last Christmas spent with my mother and had grown from 2’ to about 20’, so quite a feature that did make me smile. It has been taken away so I’m guessing someone wants firewood although it will take a couple of years to become seasoned!
Today has been busy. I had a pedicure in town, then did some shopping for fresh vegetables and fruit for David. He is beginning to feel and certainly look better and after a cup of tea I showed him how to carry out exercises he needs to do before then heading home. Apart from my own shopping trip tomorrow it should be quiet. Betty is still not eating much but seemed more cheerful and interested when we walked round the village this morning, so little steps. Sandy, I will buy chicken for her tomorrow and see if that helps her.

Lin, that tea set with the crow design was interesting but a little dark. I sensed witchery afoot! I’m sorry you had to clear snow. I too ran out of steam when I got home today and nearly nodded off into my mug of tea!

Late again and I must get to bed.
    Take care
    Jackie 🥰

Good Wednesday afternoon. The wind has picked up and we have a high wind warning until sometime tomorrow. Along with falling temperatures, indoors seems the place to be.

Sandy, how was the recital? Did you get your Christmas cards? And yes, we had received snow but not lots, with this change in weather the forecast has includes a chance of snow overnight. I can wait!

Jackie, were you sad to see the tree you planted had been cut down? Too bad it wasn’t on your property so you could decide when and if to cut it down. Also wishing Betty is feeling better. I think crows always seem a bit menacing but the detail on thy set is very good. That is what I liked. Glad David seems to be doing better. Happy news.

Well, must move along. The wind is blowing through the house and I think I need a sweatshirt to wear.

    Be safe everyone.

Happy Wednesday! :) I have had quite the day so far. I woke up to find I had no internet or TV and when I checked on my phone it said my service was inactivated. When I tried my I tried my TV in my bedroom to check the internet it asked if I was in a dorm or at home. I immediately thought I was hacked and was afraid someone got into my bank account. Trying to talk to a live person with Xfinity is impossible and I ended up on a live chat and asking if I knew anyone that could be trying to use my internet. I do not and he said he would activate my service once again. I told him I was afraid I was hacked and he said my account is protected. After more than an hour and approving different things to get my service back, I still didn't have it. I had to leave for my trial appointment and was there for almost 2 1/2 hours because my eye is inflamed and my eye pressure was a little high. I am now on prednisone drops and another drop for the inflammation and go back on the 18th. I went to check my internet and tv and both are working so they restored my service.

Lin, I did buy my cards and must have bought some people two cards as I have more than I need and will have to figure out what I did wrong. Oh well, I can save them until next year. We have the cold and wind with a chance of snow tonight. I hate winter.

Jackie, I too, wondered if the tree was on your property? What a lovely memory, too bad someone chopped it down. I am glad David is feeling better and stress to him how important his therapy is.
I forgot to mention that we boiled the chicken to make it tender and get the grease out.

My eyes are focusing a little better but still not normal. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Wednesday almost over and although I planned to have an earlier night, I fell asleep watching a tv programme. Another missed ending! I managed to buy everything I needed at the supermarket and also a supply of cat food at the pet superstore then took George and Betty up to the moors for their walk. A cold wind made it quite unpleasant so I only stayed for half an hour because Betty looked a bit frail. The good news is she has had two bowls of shredded chicken breast meat with white rice which she loved and is much more settled so thank you Sandy for suggesting it. I did a Google search on how to cook the meal and it was suggested to boil the chicken, and I’ve bought enough for several days. She is gassy but I’m used to that! 😵‍💫
It has turned wet and windy tonight but will hopefully clear by morning because I finally have an appointment to rebuild a back tooth that lost a section of enamel months ago and that means another trip to Plymouth.

Lin, I agree the crow tea set has amazing detail. Today’s ivy design looks real and is beautiful. My mother’s tree, as I always thought of it, was on what we call common land, so not owned by any one person but some local farmers have ancient rights to graze animals on it. With the increase in cars over the years they decided to keep their stock up on the moors so it has been left to nature. I’m sad it has gone but tell myself although she would have loved its location as it was when sheep and cattle mooched round it, she wouldn’t have liked the bracken and brambles that grow there now and I try not to look at the crudely cut stump that’s been left when I drive past!
Sandy, that worry over the internet loss would have unsettled me too. I’m always suspicious these days whenever something unexpected arises but Isn’t it awful that we have to worry so much about hackers.

I haven’t heard from Anne for a few days but am sure she’s well after her check up.

Oops, midnight so must get myself to bed.
    Stay safe and warm

Happy Thursday. My morning was spent driving to and from my dentist in Plymouth to finally repair a tooth that had lost a piece of enamel nearly a year ago! Our NHS health care is no better in spite of politicians promises but I’m lucky because I do at least have a dentist. Before I went I took George for a short walk but left Betty at home because she had already done what she needed in the garden and wasn’t keen to go. She is enjoying her chicken and rice meals and today I added a teaspoon of natural yogurt to hopefully help her gut. David phoned this evening to ask me to buy some bags of wild bird feed from the farm supply store so I might head in that direction tomorrow. He has finally got a small amount of daily help and says the carer is very nice but it seems the list of what assistance he isn’t allowed to carry out is longer than the one stating what he can do!
It’s almost midnight and I’ve just been outside with the dogs and noticed the sky is clear and covered in bright sparkling stars. A bit breezy and cold though! Another big storm coming in my direction Saturday night so I’ll try to make the most of a dry day tomorrow.

    Off to bed!😴

Good evening. Another very cold day. Tomorrow is forecast to be better.

The winds last night bumped off some of my electric circuits for a few moments. My modem and router were knocked off line. Had to reset things and luckily it worked.

I spent time today looking at new models of iPhone. My current phone is old and has hit its limit. It cannot install updated iOS. Cannot make up my mind what to do. Not unusual I guess.

Jackie, glad you finally got that tooth fixed. 👍🏻👍🏻
It sounds as if Betty is improving. Yeah!

Sorry there is another big storm headed your way.

    Hoping all goes well.

Sandy, thinking of you and hoping your eye is better.

    Be well Sneakers.

Friday afternoon already. How is everyone?

Jackie, are you in a red or yellow zone for the wind with the upcoming storm. I saw a couple of little maps but few, if any, cities were labeled. I hope you have all the supplies you need in case of a power outage. Do take care. How is your repaired tooth? Hope it is feeling fine. The last time I got a crown it had rough spots and the next time I went to the dentist, 6 months later, he did some more shaping on it which helped a lot.

Sandy, I have forgotten what you are doing this weekend. We have a Christmas market this weekend and several communities are having tree lighting ceremonies. Luckily it is warmer now so folks shouldn’t freeze.

I am going to try to get some of my cards in their envelopes, and ready to mail. I don’t feel like writing notes though. Maybe the cards will just have a signature this year.

Be safe everyone. Diane, are you and all of your family okay? We heard that the earthquake didn’t cause massive structural damage which is good.

    See you guys soon?

I’ve had a good day, starting with a long walk on the moors. It’s been mild and when we got home I mucked out the hen house so the chooks can be cosy when the storm arrives. Sadly it looks as if Misty is close to dying and hens do tend to go downhill very quickly so when it got dark I went down to the run, as I guessed she wouldn’t have gone into the house, and picked her up to place her in the warmth. It’s as well I did because their door was still open so the batteries must have died. I’ve fixed a wood panel across the entrance and will deal with that issue tomorrow. An order of logs and coal arrived yesterday evening so I emptied the heavy bags and stacked the wood in my log store.
Betty continues to have a dodgy tummy but seems alright in herself so the diet of chicken and rice continues.

Lin, Cornwall is in an amber warning area for dangerous winds so we won’t be walking tomorrow morning. Lots of events have been cancelled but I’m hoping the wind direction means I’m sheltered by a neighbours property! Wales has the dangerous hurricane strength winds red warning right across the country and they are still recovering from recent floods so I imagine it will bring more misery to many people. My repaired tooth is feeling fine and it’s a relief to lose the jagged edges that had been rubbing the inside of my cheek. He didn’t need to crown it but somehow attach the repair to the one side. So far, so good! I need to write Christmas cards too but the number has declined for one reason or another so a few hours should get the job done. A jolly teaset!

I’m wondering if Sandy’s internet problem continues but do hope her hacker concern didn't come to anything.

Anne emailed yesterday to let us know she is content living with Mike and actually read a Stephen King novel yesterday so is enjoying having her sight back.

    Take care and keep warm

    Battery fading so I’ll finish.

Happy Friday! :) Another busy day which started with laundry. I then went to the pain management doctor who suggested I get a shot on each side of my back to help with the leg pain I am getting. I do that next Friday and then I believe every three months. I also went for a teeth cleaning and came home to finish laundry. I am playing bingo at a park district tonight with Cheryl and two others. I think it is only for an hour and a half so should be home early.

Jackie, glad to hear Betty is tolerating the chicken and rice, hopefully it settles her tummy. Poor little chicken, did she not make it? What do you do then with her little body? I too, want to start on my cards but I need a couple of hours of peace and quiet to do so. After spending way too much time on a chat with Comcast I finally got my internet and tv bill straightened out. It was not easy and I was totally frustrated that there is no way to talk to anyone live.

Lin, I like that tea set, it is pretty. Tomorrow night is a drive through Santa's Village for a Christmas light display. At the end you can have hot chocolate and treats and a photo with Santa if you would like. It is supposed to be a little warmer so should be fun. I am hoping I have Sunday to get my cards ready for mailing.

Have a good night although Jackie is sound asleep by now.

Well, the weather warmed up today. I worked on writing tiny notes in all of the cards I am going to mail. Done!! I am going to take them to the post office tomorrow. Didn’t get anything else accomplished, my sinuses are throwing a fit. I have been watching episodes of the old show Rosemary and Thyme.

Jackie, I hope you are okay and that you have power. Hi to dear Betty.

Sandy, hope you are enjoying the light display. It does get dark so early.

    Diane, are you okay?

Barbie, are you and Jake okay?

Well, nothing new here. Starting to receive a holiday card every so often. Beautiful cards!

Nearly midnight and still the wind howls! We did go into the red warning zone for a while so stayed in all day. Little Misty survived the night and did spend a short time in the run but they all found the noise of the wind scary so went back inside. I’ve changed the batteries on the door opener but when I checked at dusk it still hadn’t shut so I’ve covered the entrance again so they feel safe. My lights have occasionally flickered but no power cut although I saw on the local news a few trees are down.
I've just stood in the doorway out to the garden while George and Betty popped out and that strong wind has now swung round to the north and feels freezing but hopefully no snow!

A gorgeous teapot Lin. Definitely one of my favourites!

    Off to bed. Keep safe.

Happy Sunday! :) Had a great time at the Christmas Lights drive through. Kids had fun with a tube slide, many, many pictures with different Christmas props. Hot chocolate, cotton candy etc. First I went to see Robby get his brown belt in his karate class. Very proud of him.
Today Church and a few errands before wrapping the kids presents and getting my card and checks ready for mailing.

Happy Sunday, it’s very cold and still windy so Betty didn’t want to walk and George was content with a short stroll. On the way home I stopped to talk to a neighbour who lives next to our entrance track out by the road who told me a tree blew over and missed his vehicle by inches. A garden fence was also flattened so I feel I came off lightly. I drove into town for a few grocery items for David and more chicken breast pieces for both Betty and George so will probably visit him Tuesday as I’m going for a coffee with Sheila tomorrow. She is concerned her car battery might be dead because she hasn’t been driving it so I will take my jump leads and Google search before I attach anything! I’m not sure I want to be a passenger because she says her vision isn’t great after her cataract was removed! 😳
I’ve had a power cut in the night and again this afternoon. At the moment, 5.30pm, my lights are flickering so I will prepare salad for my evening meal just in case we are plunged into darkness.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Good afternoon. We have had a sunny and relatively warm day. I think our lovely reprieve is about over. T was very nice to have it though. I got up nice and early this morning and drove down to the post office and went inside to mail all of my cards. They have changed the labels on the mail slots. Both just say All Mail. I was pleased to dump all of my envelopes in one slot and leave. No problem with traffic, parking, or anything whatsoever. Very nice trip. I did my cardio classes, attended online church and have worked a bit on my December Art Journal.

Sandy, I am glad the Christmas light trip was fun. I have some friends who are finding Christmas tree lightings, parades and light displays all over our area and are going to something all the time. They like to be on the go. Oh, and do you get a photo with Santa Claus?

Jackie, I am glad you did not receive damage to your property. Glad you got more supplies for Betty and some for David. Yes Sheila is probably right, if she hasn’t been running her car on a very regular basis, she might have car starting problems. Maybe she needs to get a charger to hook up to her car, that is if she parks close enough to an electrical plug. Be careful, don’t want to damage your car. Her vision is not that good after surgery? That doesn’t sound good. Well, enjoy coffee tomorrow.

    Hate flickering lights. Stay warm!

Happy Monday! :) Got my presents all wrapped, put up some lights on balcony to go with my wreath and put up a new battery light over my Christmas painting that was given to me by my ex mother in law.
She painted and gave us all a painting to remember her. Today I hope to get all my cards and checks done although I should run to my church to drop off my giving tree present. I have to Thursday so I might wait until tomorrow before my mammogram and bone density tests. Going out to an event tomorrow with Cheryl and Cathy for a free dinner while listening to someone talk about finances. Nice steak house so it will be worth listening to them talk.

Lin, no Santa pictures. The kids saw Santa earlier that day at their neighborhood celebration. The line was so long and it was getting cold so we passed on the free picture. We plan on doing some more light shows but walking.

    Jackie, how is little Misty?

Have a good day all, I am trying to step away from my computer.

Happy Monday. It was freezing cold walking on the moors this morning and still windy but we managed close to an hour before rushing to get back in my car! I then visited Sheila and she had managed to start her car so was about to drive us to the coffee shop when she admitted her vision still wasn’t great so I told her although I don’t tell people how to live their lives she would be in trouble with her insurer if she had an accident so I drove!! The coffee shop was cosy and we enjoyed chatting for an hour then back home I’ve been writing cards in front of the fire. I was about to phone David to suggest I drop off items of shopping I’ve been collecting tomorrow morning when he phoned me. His electric table top hob has broken down so I will drive to town, buy one then add it to the rest of his shopping.
The hen house door is still not working so I will have to take a proper look at it tomorrow. Always something.
Both pooches seem much better but I’m continuing the chicken diet for now and yes Sandy, little Misty is still with us although frail so I’m making sure she spends time out of the cold wind in their house. Another free meal! Good for you ladies to take advantage of such offers when you know you won’t get drawn into investing! 😁

Oops, battery dying so time to put my feet up. Hi Lin!
    Take care.

Hello. It was a bit colder today and by late afternoon, as I took my trash out to the curb, much colder. Tomorrow the wind will be much stronger so it will feel like winter again for sure. The weather guy said, you may want to wear all of your layers tomorrow. Snow may arrive by evening. I did a number of exercise classes today and did put together a grocery order to pick up tomorrow morning at Walmart.

I had a short conversation with a friend this afternoon. Sent several emails to friends and wrote a big check for my annual premium for long term care insurance. The next time they have a buyout offer, I may take it. It won’t provide much coverage but when I purchased this policy it was only a couple hundred dollars a year and now it is over $2500. I didn’t purchase the rider that provides a cash back refund of premium to your estate if you don’t use the benefit. Mistake.

Jackie, glad you had a nice time with Sheila today. Much better than freezing outside! You are providing a great shopping service for David. Which got me to wondering, do you have a fireplace or wood stove that is equipped to provide a spot to cook your dinner or heat a kettle if the power is out? Hope the weather is no worse tomorrow.

Kerry had an event recently and there was a photo of little Duggy, who is growing quickly. He just melts my heart. He is so cute.

Sandy, hope you will enjoy your free dinner tomorrow evening and that you will learn something new. ☺️ You got lots of decorating accomplished. Good for you!

Happy Tuesday! :) Busy day again, but then they all seem busy this time of year.
Lin not sure I understand about your long term insurance but it must be separate from Medicare.
Sounds expensive so I hope it is a good policy. I just have Medicare and a supplement so pray that I don't end up in a nursing home.
Jackie you are a good friend as I often say but glad you didn't let Sheila drive. I am sure David appreciates all you do for him, at least I hope so.
I did get some of my cards done, at least the ones with checks, so will mail those today. I will finish the others when I have some spare time which might not be until Saturday.

Happy Tuesday. It remains cold so I walked round the block with George and Betty but left them at home when I went shopping for David’s table top hob. I also bought more dog food for Hattie, then drove along the awful narrow road to David’s cottage and delivered the shopping I’ve been collecting since Sunday. He is looking more cheerful and was wearing one of the many knitted tops his mother used to create for him because, although he has an original working Rayburn, sitting too long can chill extremities! The pooches are still eating chicken and rice but I’m also introducing a few kibble biscuits that Betty used to eat without trouble, into her bowl.
Dear Misty is hanging on but when I checked before dark she had collapsed by the entrance to their house, so lifted her inside. Tomorrow will be a ME day so I’ll see if the motorised door is repairable.
I’ve just made plum chutney following an internet recipe. It’s simmering on my gas hob so I must rummage for empty glass jars then cook an evening meal.

Lin, I can sit a kettle on the multi fuel stove and was looking for a 1950’s tin one that my dad took fishing during that decade, when the power switched back on!
    081piv4vcfxh.jpeg
I’m now ready for the next power cut! Duggy is growing up quickly isn’t he! Cute kitty teapot too!
James Norton is to star in a new BBC historical drama. He plays Harold, Earl of Wessex who became the last Anglo Saxon king; not for long sadly!
    iwfplzzbkbzv.jpeg

Sandy. To be honest I will be relieved when I can get my life back but David is grateful and is buying me a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings on the 17th. 😋

Enjoy the rest of your day. I owe Anne an email so will get something off tomorrow.

Good evening. I have been chatting with customer service at Amazon. I waited until after dark to receive a package from them and when I opened it I found the tops of the jars were not sealed and they jars leaked. So chatting, sending photos and then by the time the third representative joined in in the chat, they offered a refund. I took it!

Jackie, I am glad you made it safely down (and back out) of the lane to David’s house. Did you get him all set up with the new hob? Glad you got all of his supplies even though it is tedious you are doing him a great kindness. Have you tasted your batch of plum chutney? Sounds lovely. I am glad you have a spot to set up a kettle if you have a power outage.

Wow, James Norton looks quite intense. Still a nice looking guy.

Sandy, it is snowing quite heavily here right now. Is it snowing in your area? I don’t think it is supposed to last all night long but we will see. My long term care insurance is what we used to call nursing home coverage although this policy provides in home care at a reduced daily rate (lower daily limit than nursing home stays) if certain conditions are met. It has nothing to do with Medicare, or supplemental health insurance plans. I worked for an insurance company and they launched this type of policy while I was working there and employees got the first opportunity to sign up if you were old enough. I think I had to wait a year or two. Anyway, they didn’t have any data to help put together loss ratios for rating purposes and many other companies were trying this coverage as a new product. That’s why the rates have gone up and up over the years. Most companies bailed back out. It seemed like an excellent safety measure for someone without family.

Well, enough. Totally boring, hope that explained it.

    Be safe everyone.

Happy Wednesday! :) The finance dinner was good and lots of information. I am happy with my finance guy so will not be changing. Tonight Marisa graduates from her ETM training so I will be going at her invite. We are expecting some bad weather so I hope it holds off until after the ceremony.
My son and his wife will be arriving Friday to spend the night before they go to downtown Chicago for a few days. Laurie wants to go to the Art Museum and she also has an appointment with her migraine doctor on Monday. They will spend the night Monday night unless they decide to drive straight home from the doctor. Laurie is like me and doesn't like driving in the dark.
I do hope to finish my cards today. When I went for my bone density and mammogram the tech who I have had before and love, saw that my appointments were at 1 and 2:30 so she did both so I didn't have to wait. So nice of her and I wrote two good reviews for her. Because of her kindness I was able to do all my errands yesterday so I have all afternoon to get these cards done.

Lin, sounds like a good policy if affordable. I am hoping to stay independent for a long time, but who knows? Hopefully, one of my kids will take me in, like Michael did for Anne. Cheryl's SIL was telling me last night she and her husband had to sell everything when he had a stroke and is in a nursing home. It costs them $9000 a month until they ran out of money. Now he is on Medicaid. So sad.

Jackie, glad you are taking a "me" day for a change. Poor Misty, I hope she can rebound. Sounds like the pups are doing better, so happy to hear that. David also sounds better so life should get easier, at least a little for you.

    Have a good day.

Good evening. It is massively cold now. Eeeck! We have a streak of not too great days. Super cold? Snow, ice, bone numbing wind chill. It may get back to the 40s on Sunday afternoon. I have a couple of errands I would like to do tomorrow but wind chills in the negative teens doesn’t sound like running around weather.

Sandy, congrats to Marisa. EMT training right? Does she have a line on a job? There are openings around here with private ambulance companies but I hear it is pretty hard work. I have a friend who works the night shift at a local hospital. Enjoy your visiting time with son and DIL.

Jackie, hope you have had a good day. Have you spent any time at the Lingholm Kitchen and Walled Garden Portinscale (hope I spelled that properly). Angela visited there and posted some photos. It is beautiful and I would love to spend time roaming around that fabulous garden. You have so many lovely locations.

Well, need to hop along. Be safe everyone.

Happy Thursday! :) Busy day again. Meeting, then a few errands and playing catch up on computer.
Very cold but luckily my car heats up fast. Got the remainder of my Christmas wrappings to finish my last 5 gifts to be wrapped. 4 are for animals and one is for Marisa. I bought all the animals in my family a little scarf type thing with their names on them. Hope they wear them. lol
I received a package yesterday with my name and address and the packing list with the same information. I did not order anything from Etsy and went online to try to explain it must have been an error. After a long wait the chat guy said it must be a gift but he couldn't tell me who sent it do to privacy laws. So I made a post on Facebook, which I am sure Lin saw and said I must have a secret admirer. Long story short Bryanna saw my post and said it was from her and they must not have enclosed the gift tag. Mystery solved although I was worried about a scam of some sort. Pretty hoodie sweatshirt with flowers and a hummingbird. She doesn't usually send me gifts so it was a surprise.

Lin, yes, Marisa will work for the ambulance company she trained with for six month with 32 hours a week pay unless she can get into a fire department which is what she really wants.

Jackie must be busy with David or Sheila or someone.

    Have a good day,
    Sandy

It’s Thursday evening and I’m not feeling too great having developed a head cold. Perhaps finally relaxing yesterday gave it an opportunity to sneak up on me! It has been bleak and bitterly cold since the weekend too, the sort that seeps into your bones so that hasn’t helped. I had to take David to the GP practice today for his appointment to remove staples so another drive along the dreaded muddy track, but at least I now know where passing places are should I meet another vehicle. On the way into town one of David’s neighbours nearly drove into us because she was going too fast round a blind bend so that was a lucky escape! He is still nervous when walking but the nurse has told him everything looks healthy and now the staples are out he will improve quickly.
I was worried when walking George and Betty yesterday because they were both very slow and I began to fear the worst but they are a lot better today so I think the freezing air had affected them. We are getting older!! Misty is still alive but I had noticed her chums were bullying her off the food, a nasty side to hens when they operate a survival of the fittest campaign! Tonight she was still outside their house where a few bits of corn had been left by Storm and Bluebell when they went to bed, so I placed more in front of her, which she eat so tomorrow l will place her in the greenhouse where it is warmer, with food and water, and see if that helps her improve.
I still haven’t finished writing Christmas cards but should do so tomorrow 🤞🏻

Sandy, enjoy your son and his wife’s visit tomorrow. I hope you got home from Marisa’s graduation before bad weather arrived. Keep warm; it sounds awful.

Goodness Lin, I shouldn’t complain about our bleak weather when I read what you are getting! I did set up the new hob for David and was horrified at the condition of the old one. I wonder if a carer refused to use it or warned him it was dangerous. I brought it home to add to items to be taken to the tip, just in case he was tempted to keep it! I’ve only ever been to the Lakes a couple of times but missed the Lingholm Kitchen and gardens. There is so much to see in that area but was never there long enough to see everything. Do stay home if it’s dreadful outside.

Some useless snippets of information from this month’s Country Life magazine with an Advent Calendar on its front cover. Each day it offers up seasonal observations. Christmas cake used to be called the Twelfth cake because it wasn’t eaten until January 5th, (Twelfth night) and before Advent calendars, the days leading up to Christmas Day were marked with lit candles and started in 19th century Germany. Last one before I go to bed…. Santa’s red suit first appeared in the 1870’s. Before that he was depicted in green robes!

Time for a couple of Paracetamol and bed!

Good evening. It was cold indeed today. It was overcast, a bit windy and the temperature didn’t go up at all. We did receive some snow and I did shovel the driveway and the sidewalks this afternoon. Haaaa, during the warmest part of the day. 😄😂 I put on several layers of warm clothing and worked in the garage—breaking down boxes again. My hands got very cold even though I was wearing gloves. I could use some heat in there.

Sandy, what a lovely gift from Bryanna. I had ordered a new sweatshirt and it arrived today. I took it out of the package but it was too cold to try on. Maybe tomorrow morning. More busy days coming up—-full of fun!

Jackie, I am so sorry you are feeling unwell. I hope you feel better soon. A friend of mine sent a message that she was ill. Thought it was a cold but then it turned into a sinus infection and then breathing problems. Her husband took her to the doctor and she is on a number of medications now trying to knock this illness down. Unfortunately, her husband has started to develop the same symptoms. Wonderful of you to take David to get the staples removed. And thank heavens you did not get into a car accident. Bad road! The only tidbit I knew was Santa dressed in green originally. Poor little Misty. ❤️ Other animals do treat a sick member of the group sort of brutally.

We are now expecting freezing precipitation late tomorrow afternoon and overnight. They are already warning of dangerous driving conditions. Yes, I will be staying home.

    Take care everyone.
