Happy Friday! Home from my two back injections. Doctor did a great job, no pain. Hopefully, it relieves the pain in my right leg. My son and DIL will be arriving soon.
I have a couple of things to do so will talk tomorrow.
Have a good day.

Our weather here has been mild---above freezing and only a bit of drizzle. I have the clothing for it. I have been getting up early so I can walk by myself in the dark for an hour or more. The dogs will go out in the dark only as long as they need to do their business and then come back to the warm house. Between the furnace, heat pump, and wood stove, it is always comfy in the house.
Jake has had two lengthy and expensive dentist appointments this week. Since he can't drive himself, we put Annie in the car and drive him then Annie and I wait in the car. Annie will relax and sleep if I play music from my phone. The music is quiet enough that I can read while she sleeps so I was able to finish the Louise Penny book I was reading. Jake suggested getting take out food for lunch today and I refused because I'd like a day where I don't have to drive anywhere.
Sandy, Jake's daughter sends him gifts all the time from Amazon and there is never any info about who sent the gift. At first we were confused, now we know that if we didn't order it, it must have come from her. The last gift was a 50 dollar gift card for Netflix. I enjoyed it because I got to watch the most recent season of the Great British Baking Show. We gave up Netflix when they cracked down on having people outside your household on your account. We had been watching Netflix for a few years free courtesy of Jake's friend in Southern California. We decided that we didn't watch enough on it to warrant the expense. We watch a lot of Amazon and Brit Box and PBS Masterpiece.

Hello, wonderful to hear from you Barbie. Glad Jake has these dental appointments out of the way. Annie is becoming a quiet dog isn’t she. Glad she likes to listen to music. Which Louise Penney book were you reading? Her most recent release? Nice to hear that you are having decent weather.
It is warming up a little bit but the wind has been increasing. They are still talking about freezing rain and/or an ice storm overnight. Lots of things have been cancelled for this evening. I am happy to be home. I have been charging up my electronic devices just in case we lose power at some point.
Sandy, glad your shots didn’t cause you pain. And I hope you enjoy your time with your family. Family game time?
Jackie, hope you are well. And that your doggies are okay. Be safe.

A quiet day for me after another short walk with George and Betty. It is supposed to get milder next week so I can enjoy a walk on the moors but at the moment the wind is too cold to go climbing hills. I’ve finished writing cards and wrapped a couple of packages to be posted so after lunch I drove into town to visit the post office and send everything off. Misty spent the day in my greenhouse with bowls of drinking water and corn and when I moved her back to the hen house she seemed a bit brighter so I will do the same tomorrow. It is a shame we haven’t seen sunshine for a week because I know that would help her. My head cold is still making me feel blah so taking paracetamol and trying to rest.
Take care and keep warm.

Happy Saturday! John and Laurie came yesterday, we went to dinner, came home played a game. They left this morning to go downtown to visit museums and celebrate her birthday from John a little late.(August 18). They will be back Monday to spend the night before heading home.
I finally got all my gifts wrapped and now it is just a matter of cooking some appetizers for my meeting and Christmas Eve. Feels good to be done.
Jackie, sorry your weather is so cold, ours is the same. It just goes right through you to the bone.
I am glad Misty is feeling better, I do hope she makes a full recovery. I hope you start to feel better soon.
Lin, yes we did play Settlers of Catan after dinner. It is always fun when they come to visit.
Barbie, poor Jake has had a rough year, I hope next year is better. You always amaze me with your walking, no matter what the weather. I am a big baby when it comes to the cold. It does confuse you when packages arrive that you didn't order and there is no gift card. I was happy Bryanna told me it was her and not a scam.
Have a good day all,
Sandy

It’s been another quiet day and I must say I’m enjoying not having to rush anywhere. Once again I set Misty up in my greenhouse having made a bed with a plastic fruit tray and some fleece normally used to protect fruit bushes from wild birds or frost. Annoyingly, having followed online instructions to reset the hen house automatic door opener to factory settings, it still won’t work! I will give it one last shot tomorrow and see if I can use a screwdriver to look inside. That was my day apart from a couple of phone calls with friends. Linda is back from her African adventures and we will meet Tuesday for one of our coffee mornings.
Battery down to 3% so better finish.
Take care everyone.

Good evening. Ice, ice, ice! I didn’t poke my head outside today. Everything was slippery and our roads were not treated. I did some cardio classes today and then started sorting paperwork. Wow, that is going to be a long job. I wanted to purchase a new battery for my old laptop but cannot find the exact model number which is needed to assure the battery will fit. Will try another day.
Jackie, I am glad you had a quiet day and hoping your cold is fading away. Take care. Isn’t it annoying when you follow instructions but they do not work.
Sandy, are you feeling okay? Thinking of the shots you received recently.
Take care everyone.

Happy Sunday! Gloomy day with fog but warmer temps. I am going to a Blackhawks Hockey Game this afternoon with Cheryl, Marisa and two of Marisa's friends. Cheryl bought the tickets for Dave, Babe's son in law because he was supposed to be visiting this weekend. He cancelled his trip so we are all going because she had the tickets. I am not a big hockey fan, but it is better in person than on TV.
Lin, sorry about your bad weather. I feel great after my shots, my back and leg no longer hurt so I am very happy.
Jackie, sorry about the hen's door but I know you will figure it out. Hang in there Misty, I am counting on you to recover.
Have a good day.

Hello, cardio classes today, church (cantata performed this morning). I watched a movie, started sorting some of the pounds of papers in the basement and need to get a move on. I believe the children’s program will be live any minute now.
Sandy, I hope you enjoyed the hockey game. I talked to a friend for quite a while today and she asked if I had watched the old movie “Tooth Fairy” with Duane Johnson. I had not but I just did. Some fun hockey in that one!
Well, the ice melted and I got my mail. Yippee!
Take care everyone. Need to tune in the program now.

Happy Monday. I’m sorry I didn’t post yesterday but the head cold had me sniffing and sneezing so after a very short walk because both pooches acted as if they didn’t want to go, I managed some hoovering, then changed my bedding because today looked dry, before collapsing in a heap! Of course, I fell asleep so had a restless night.
I have a theory about Misty’s condition. She seems unable to stand upright and when I first found her a few days ago, crouched by the entrance to her house, that was when the door stopped working, so I think it might have closed on her back trapping her. This morning I’ve sat her back in the greenhouse where it is bright, and she drank water from a spoon I held in front of her beak, but I’m worrying she isn’t improving. There’s no way I can end her life and vets aren’t interested in poultry these days so I’ll continue to keep her comfy with palliative care!
I had to give up on repairing th automatic door and ordered a new one online. Twice the price I paid about 4 years ago! 😳
It was sunny when I got up so my bedding is washed and hanging outside. George and Betty enjoyed a walk on the moors, although it was chilly and after coffee I will cut up some wood for kindling.
Sandy, that’s good news about the shots in your back. It must be such a relief. Ice hockey was never a sport I enjoyed when living in Toronto but I was good at school in field hockey and still watch matches on tv when shown.
Lin, the ice melted! Whoopee! The latest tea pot looks similar to Portmerian pottery although I don’t recognise the pattern. Very attractive!
Clouds are drifting in so I’m not sure my bedding will dry. I’ll have to drape it over an airer! 🤔
Take care.

Happy Monday! The hockey game was fun although I had a hard time keeping my eye on the puck. lol
It is an expensive time but worth it. Today nothing until later when I am sitting for the younger kids for a couple of hours. John and Laurie will be returning here probably before I get home to spend the night before heading home tomorrow. Unless they change their minds and drive home tonight.
Tomorrow hair appointment, Wednesday trial appointment, Thursday Christmas party at meeting, Friday nails and kids spending the night. Busy times, I will be glad when Christmas is over although I love Christmas.
Jackie, still fighting that head cold, sorry. Yes, I am very happy about the shots, my leg pain is gone and most of my back pain unless I overdo. I am not a hockey fan but it's fun being with the younger generation most of the time. lol
Lin, I am glad your ice disappeared. We did not have any and I hope we don't get any. Believe it or not there were no fights at the hockey game. And by the way the Hawks did win so that was a plus.
I ordered 7 dogs collars and scarves attached and last night my daughter sent a picture with her dog in his new scarf with his name on it. She said the collar was to small so she put it on his regular collar. I hope the rest of the collars fit their dogs because there was no refund as they were personalized. If nothing else they can maybe attach to something else. Darn. I ordered 3 cat scarves as well but they tie on so hope they fit.
Have a good day.

Hello, it wasn’t a bad weather day today. Sunshine and warmer temperatures. Tomorrow is another day. Another overcast day apparently. Hope we don’t have any rain/freezing rain again. I picked up my prescription refill today. I gave her my name and the name of the drug being refilled. She came back and started to feed all the information onto a form for me to sign. Once again, my double surfaced. My name but not my date of birth. Off she went hunting for my prescription. Came back with a different envelope. I repeated all the information and this time, we had a match. I paid the exorbitant fee and left. The person with the same name is a patient at the same clinic I go to. Lots of matching up needed all the time to get to my own records. Odd.
I did some laundry today and now it is put away again. I love the smell of freshly laundered towels.
Nothing else interesting I guess. Yes, did my cardio classes and tomorrow I plan to do several errands first thing in the morning.
Jackie, I hope you feel better and also glad you got some rest. That helps you get over the nasty bugs. I am not surprised the cost of the replacement door is twice the cost of the original. I hope this one installs easily and works well.
Sandy, on the run all week long. I hope you have lots of fun. I love Dexter wearing his new scarf. Adorable little fluffy guy.
Take care everyone. Cannot believe Christmas is round the corner.

Happy Tuesday! It's been quite an adventure. Laurie and John showed up early at my house yesterday afternoon because Laurie was sick. She had woken at 5am in their hotel with diarrhea and vomiting.
She came here to rest so I went and watched the kids and was on my way home when John asked me where the nearest hospital was. When I arrived he told me Laurie had thrown up at least 30 times along with the other issues. We decided to call 911 as I thought she would get in the ER faster that way. Wrong although they did some tests in between we sat in the waiting room close to 8 hours before they finally brought us back to a room to see the doctor. They gave her two saline IV's and one antinausea IV. After making sure she could hold everything down we finally got home at 7am this morning. They said it was either food poisoning or viral gastroenteritis. She feels much better today but it was a very long night and we are all exhausted.
They are leaving tomorrow instead of today to make sure she is okay and they need some sleep as I do.
Hope you have a good day.
Sandy

Hello. Sandy, that is way too exciting. I am so sorry to her of her illness. I hope she is still feeling better. You had a busy week planned, that didn’t help you. I hope you get as much rest as possible as you go through the week.
I woke up at 4:30am and couldn’t go back to sleep. I finally got up and went to Walmart to pick up my little order. I was surprised that they are allowing pickups at 7am now….it used to be 8:00am was the start time. Maybe it is because Christmas is on the way. After that, I drove over to a store that sells my favorite frozen veggie combo and wahoo, it was in stock and I picked up a couple of other things. Then I went to Whole Foods for fresh veggies and one last stop to pick up a Lottery ticket. Why does it always take so long to put things away? Took a number of classes this afternoon. I already made supper and will join in the usual Tuesday evening live class. I think I will sleep better tonight.
Jackie, hello, hope everyone at your house is feeling okay.

Hello sneakers. Yet another grey day so a short dog walk before I collected Linda and drove to a garden centre that must have a million Christmas decorations on display. Few customers so it does feel like the season has been cancelled! I heard all about Linda’s 3 weeks in South Africa where she volunteered to work on a variety of projects supporting wildlife and locals. She returned home with a nasty lump on the back of her head after tripping on rough ground and a bite on her hand from a vulture!
This afternoon has been quiet because it began to rain so no chance to carry on with outside work. George’s groomer will visit tomorrow and Thursday I have a hair appointment and will do some grocery shopping before coming home.
I thought I had posted the above but must have been interrupted! Off to bed now so will catch up tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday! John and Laurie are on their way home. Laurie is feeling much better so we all think it was food poisoning. They are supposed to go to New Zealand in two weeks but she is having second thoughts. Two years ago in LA she was in the hospital for a similar thing for 8 days. Last time she had some bleeding so the doctors don't think it is related. She is leery of eating strange food in New Zealand so they may cancel their trip. It is for their 40th wedding anniversary so we will see.
My doctor from the trial called last night to check on me because he has an emergency surgery today and wanted to make sure I was ok. My appointment is rescheduled for January 3rd which I am happy about since I have so much to do before Christmas.
Never a dull moment in my life and it sounds like yours as well.
Have a good one.
Sandy

Happy Wednesday. Not a long dog walk this morning, mostly because I didn’t want George getting muddy before the groomer’s visit. Betty decided she didn’t want to walk so I took George round the block then did my best to brush his thick Winter coat that knots up so quickly this time of year. Before we went out I checked the hens were okay and discovered Misty had quietly passed away in the night. She looked at peace which was a good sign because it meant she hadn’t panicked in those final moments. The new automatic door opener has arrived and if there is time before dark tomorrow, when I get back from shopping and my hair appointment, I will install it.
Betty continues to have signs of gastroenteritis so I’m continuing to prepare small meals of chicken and rice but also, George’s groomer recommended a tube of paste to buy at the pet shop that should help to settle her tummy so I’ve added it to my shopping list. By the time George had been tidied it was already dark and rain had returned so I didn’t drive into town.
What an adventure Sandy and very unpleasant for Laurie. Food poisoning can be sudden and violent so getting her to the hospital was definitely the best option, although I feel for you with that long night.
Lin, your early start was productive! Fingers crossed for your lottery win!
I am determined to have an early night because last night it was way past midnight, then I tossed and turned.
Stay safe and warm.

Hello, overcast and cold day here with a skiff of snow. Spent a lot of time attending Zoom classes today. Lots of cardio and there was a healthy cookie class. The recipes were not for me. I spoke with several friends on the phone today. My friend with the flu is still very ill. She has been waking up at night unable to breathe well so she struggles into the shower and runs lots of hot water until she can breathe better. Her doctor put her on antibiotics for the flu. I didn’t know that was done. Talked to a lady from church for a little while. They rescheduled the caroling to this evening. She said it would probably be a short session of caroling due to the cold. They were going to have a soup supper and desserts afterwards.
Sandy, that rescheduling sounds like a break for you. Laurie probably doesn’t need odd food at this point. I am sure they will make the best decision.
Jackie, I am sorry that little Misty passed away. And also sorry that Betty is still having gastrointestinal issues. I hope that recommended paste helps. George is all tidied up for Christmas now. He does have a very thick coat doesn’t he? I hope you did get to turn in early and thy you keep well.
Be safe everyone.

Happy Thursday! Had a bad morning, I really thought I was going to pass out. I managed to make my meatballs for my meeting and felt good enough to go for our Christmas celebration. I am hoping it is related to my bathroom issues and the new pill and not something I picked up in the hospital. I feel fine now just tired because I didn't sleep well. I can't get sick so close to Christmas, just too much going on.
The kids are coming Saturday instead of Friday as Max has an early soccer game on Saturday and I think the parents would like a day to sleep in. Doesn't matter to me which day, it just means they will have to go to church with me Saturday afternoon. They don't mind as I take them to Mc Donald's afterwards.
Lin, yes, I agree, with all her allergies she never knows what will make her sick and she doesn't want to spend her vacation in a hospital in New Zealand. Your friend sounds like she belongs in a hospital as well. Breathing in nothing to mess with.
Jackie, aww poor Misty, but I am glad she did not suffer. What do you do with her little body?
It is already late afternoon so have a good evening.
Sandy
One Day at a Time0 -
A few minutes into Friday! My Thursday was busy with driving to the next town for my hair appointment and I am happy with the way it has been cut because it was becoming straggly. On my way home I stopped at an Aldi store for groceries and saw they were offering lots of vegetables at extremely low prices, probably the equivalent of 10 cents for large packs of carrots, parsnips, potatoes and broccoli. I phoned David to ask if he needed any but he had already arranged for the other dog walking friend to buy groceries elsewhere but I picked up some bargains for myself! I also stopped at the pet store to buy the probiotic paste for Betty and added some to this evenings chicken meal.
By the time I put my shopping away and snacked on a late lunch it had become wet and cold outside so I will continue to manually open and shut the hen house door for now. Sandy, Misty has been wrapped in the piece of fleece she was sitting on, then placed in a thick plastic bag and placed in the refuse wheelie bin for collection in the morning. She will go into landfill! I’m sorry you had a bad turn and hope it was nothing serious. Maybe your body is telling you to pause and take a breath because you are always on the go. Take care of yourself because everyone loves and needs you.
Lin, your friend’s flu seems to have very similar symptoms to whatever laid Anne low when in that care facility. I’m no expert but perhaps she has developed a lung infection that would require antibiotics. I heard on our news today that our hospitals are filling with flu victims so a nasty strain is out there,
Late to bed again and dear little George just woke himself up crying in his sleep. Must have been a bad dream so I talked to him quietly and he’s curled up again. Now I’ll have to disturb him to go into the garden with Betty before bed.
Take care and keep warm.

Good evening. A cold day which got colder and windier as the day went on. We have high wind warnings tonight.
I tried to do some early morning classes today and it did not work for me. So pieced in some exercise over the course of the day, watched a Live Class (card making) at lunchtime and it went long, 1.5 hours rather than 1 hour. They are taking the rest of year off. Wow, that is a long time off for them.
Another friend is seeing a doctor tomorrow for a rash that has spread, is not going away even after her regular doctor gave her several drugs. She says the skin is literally gone in some areas from the continual irritation. She is seeing a dermatologist tomorrow.
Another friend just had her second cornea transplant. The first one was rejected. I didn’t know that was likely to happen.
Sandy, take care my friend. Lots of viruses on the loose this winter.
Jackie, glad you got a haircut you like and wow, you picked up some great veggie bargains. Poor George, no more nightmares little guy.
Take care everyone.

Happy Friday! I have hair appointment at ten and nail appointment at one. The kids are coming tomorrow to spend the night instead of tonight as Max has a soccer game at 9 am tomorrow. Laundry has been started and now it is time to jump in the shower. I will try to get back later.
Have a good day.

Hello, very cold day! A salesperson showed up at my door and I could not get rid of him for a long time. He said he would call again tomorrow or the next day. I said do not bother. He is scheduling some of my neighbors with a supposedly great fiber network provider. I have not heard of anyone who uses Quantum service. I looked it up and I do not understand the devices and technology they are using. I also do not believe they will never raise the price. They also draw payments directly from your bank account. I am skeptical.
Anyway, it seems everything is changing. I am not adapting.
Sandy, have a good time with the kiddos! What’s on the movie schedule?
Jackie, are you okay? Have you been in touch with Anne?
Be safe everyone.

Happy Saturday! The kids are coming at noon to spend the night. I will keep them until tomorrow afternoon and they will drive with me to Lisa's aunt and uncle's open house. I might take them to movie if I can get a time that still lets me take them to Church at 5 but we will see. After Church I take them to Mc Donald's to play in their play area. I just try to keep them busy.
We have our family zoom call at 12:30, so the kids might be here to say hello. Busy days ahead.
Have a great day.

Hello. Another cold and overcast day. Picked up a few cardio classes throughout the day. Started reading a library book and enjoyed opening my mail. Some cute Christmas cards today.
Sandy, enjoy your kiddo time. Did you see a movie you liked? I have been streaming old Christmas movies today. I own quite a few on Amazon. I won’t make a list but I just finished watching Elf. I enjoyed it more than usual.

Hello. Late again! Yesterday’s Christmas meal at the local pub with David was a delicious 3 courses that we spent a couple of hours eating our way through and he got to take home leftover Turkey for Hattie! The weather was blustery and wet but that made the pub feel cosy. His walking has improved considerably since I saw him last week so definitely on the mend. It was dark by the time I had driven him home and returned to mine and I felt so full I did no more than light the fire and collapse on the sofa with the pooches.
This morning I visited friends to deliver a card and also took half a bag of the cheap carrots I had bought Thursday for their horses. They have the large black Labrador called Bonny who is still crazy so when she saw me arrive, threw herself at me as I tried to get out of my car and almost knocked me over! Every time I visit I question “training still in progress?” because she totally ignores commands but is still adorable. After that it was a quiet afternoon. I continue to cook chicken for Betty but George is fine now and back on his raw food.
Lin, cold callers are a taboo around here these days because in the past vulnerable people have been scammed. If you’ve never heard of his outfit that could be an immediate red flag. I would remain a skeptic
Another busy weekend Sandy! At least a movie and McDonalds gives you some sitting time!
No news from Anne but probably busy with family enjoying her clear vision.
Bedtime for me. I might take tomorrow off although David has asked me to buy him a fresh supply of food for his wild birds because he will have run out by Christmas. The road to his cottage is deteriorating with all the rain we’re getting so I will probably leave that journey until Monday.
Take care.
