Hello sneakers! Wishing everyone peace and love in the coming year, and always!
This morning I drove to David’s home with a supply of food for Hattie, hopefully for the last time before he visits the Consultant next Monday. He just needs more confidence and I’m sure a chat with the expert will be better than me trying to encourage him!
A very subdued night with few fireworks around the village but then we have yet another storm rattling across the country. Strong winds outside so I’ll see how George and Betty cope with a final visit into the garden before bed. At least the dog’ muddy towels were washed and blew dry out on the rotary lines!

Wow Lin, thank goodness you were driving slowly and that idiot missed you. Do you have CCTV cameras in your town that the police monitor? Someone needs a caution at least.

    Enjoy your Christmas celebrations Sandy!

    I must get to bed.😴

Hello and Happy New Year. This evening I watched a lovely church service with many lighted candles and a positive message.

Jackie, I watched the London fireworks. Quite a display! Also watched some from Paris and Sydney. I am hoping there are no neighborhood fireworks. You never know. Sorry to hear you have windy weather.

Still not sleeping well at night. I did a number of classes today but they didn’t pep me up. The instructors were all talking about massive changes starting tomorrow. Some of my favorite instructors, those who bring a lot of enthusiasm to classes have been moved to strength and circuit classes which I tend to avoid. The line dancing classes are cut to 20 minutes but are still to teach 2 different dances in each class. Just hardly any warm up or cool down. Will have to see how I can adapt.

Sandy, enjoying multiple holidays in one celebration! 👍🏻👍🏻 Lots and of fun.

    Barbie, thinking of you. ❤️❤️

I need to see if I can find an early morning broadcast of the London parade. My university’s band is supposed to be playing and I would like to see them. Not likely though.

I will settle for the Tournament of Roses Parade. 🌹🌹

Happy New Year! :) Had a great time with the kids and parents last night. Lisa had strobe lights and smoke coming out of a machine that the kids loved. We went to Church, came home and ate tons of food, opened presents (again) and had a ten minute countdown from Disney. Lisa also had confetti that blew out of a container that the kids twisted on the bottom and it exploded all over! It was so much fun and we also did karaoke which was hysterical. I left around 7:30 and stopped by Cheryl to toast to a New Year. She was home alone with two dogs as she dog sitting for Marisa. Came home and watched New York come in and then Chicago before collapsing in bed. I hope your NYE was fun and the new year brings us all good health and keeps us good friends.

(thinking of you Barbie <3 )

    Enjoy your New Year's Day!

Happy New Year everyone. We went to a movie then hung out and watched tv waiting for the New Year. We were going to go to our daughter’s except it was snowy and cold. They were having friends over after church in the evening. We’ll drop over today. I have a pan of squares for them.

Recovering from surgery (Dec 11th) on my right little finger for Dupuytren’s Contracture. Ed and I had COVID just after my surgery. Luckily we recovered in time for Christmas.

    Big hugs to everyone

Oh no, sorry to hear that Jeri. My DIL also had covid before Christmas so ours was postponed until yesterday. Glad you are on the mend from your surgery and covid.
    Happy New Year!

    Hello.

Good to hear from you Jeri. Sorry you have been through surgery and that darn virus. Glad to hear you and Ed are feeling better. I hope your winter weather is not brutal this season.

Sandy, what a lot of fun! Glad you stopped to see Cheryl. Nice of her to dog sit.

Barbie, I hope you and the pups had a quiet evening.

Jackie, I saw a YouTube video of the London Parade. Wow, that is a long and very interesting parade. What terrible weather though. Everyone seemed soaked! The poor instruments, hope those were okay. I did see my University and was surprised. They did a the Pitbull song ‘Fireball.’ That song is in the playlist for my favorite dance class. How are you?

Well, must move along. Be safe everyone.

Happy Thursday! :) Went to my meeting but was running late so couldn't post this morning. I ordered groceries to be delivered which should be here by 5 or so. We are expecting some snow but I hope not enough to stop me from picking up Lisa's parents in the morning. I have a trial appointment tomorrow afternoon as well. Saturday is Max's birthday party, he will be 8 on Monday.
I binge watched The Squid Games which is not for the faint at heart and was left with a cliff hanger.
They should have season 3 this year, not like the last one which was ten years apart.
I just called two ladies I haven't spoken to in a long time. One is going to be 99 the end of the month and had no idea who I was until I reminded her from where. The other is an old neighbor from my first marriage who is 91 I think but I think she told me she was 96. She said she has around the clock help so she could be mistaken. She proceeded to tell me that all the old neighbors are all dead except for her. Cheery conversation. lol

I hope everyone is having a good day and staying healthy.

Happy Thursday. Finally we are enjoying a few sunny days, although it’s very cold, and I have been making progress outside cutting up wood for kindling, donated by Linda and her sons. First thing I drove George and Betty to a low area of moors hoping to keep out of the freezing wind and can only imagine how cold it would have been if we were climbing our usual hills. The dogs enjoyed themselves though and the walk and fresh air did us good! The ground is still very mucky so more doggy paws to be bathed, but a perfect day for getting even more muddy towels washed and aired. I’ve just stood outside while Betty had a bathroom break and because there are no street lights, I get a wonderful view of various constellations, not that I can name many. No sign of drones or UFO’s thank goodness!

Glad you enjoyed the London Parade Lin although I’m not sure the spectators would in all that rain! Weren’t the bands brave and professional to carry on regardless!

Oh dear Sandy. You did make me smile about your cheery telephone conversation! I hope it doesn’t snow on you tomorrow.

My resolution for the new year was to get more sleep by getting to bed earlier but it’s already gone midnight so I’m not doing well!

    Take care.

    Good evening

We received snow this morning and it was intense and many businesses and schools didn’t open at all today or waited a few hours. At that point the roads were still very slippery but the snow had stopped and visibility had improved immensely. I didn’t go out to shovel snow as my sinuses are already in rebellion and it is quite cold out there now. In fact, even colder weather is expected and another snow storm either Saturday or Sunday. Luckily, my handyman showed up with a snowblower and took care of my sidewalks and driveway. I am very thankful for that.

I did quite a few of the new classes today and the schedule is confusing, I couldn’t connect to some classes (Internet problems) and I am hoping I find a routine in the next few weeks. With the changes in duration, it is more difficult to schedule classes without either cutting off some of the prior class or coming late to the next class. The new 15, 20, 30, or 45 minute classes are leaving some big gaps. The instructors are equally struggling to cope. One lady said she had 6 classes to teach but they were spread over the entire day so she couldn’t accomplish a lot without keeping eyes on the clock.

I am trying to learn about the most current technology. It is so different now. I know nothing about mesh networks, or about all the new routers and modems and all of the nomenclature that goes along with it. I did a bit of reading today but looks like a mountain to climb! Anyone have any good books to recommend??

Also need to make a birthday card for a little boy turning 3. I left him off my working list for January. I knew I needed to make something for him, just didn’t write it down.

Jackie, I saw some of the viewing spots at the parade had a cover over the top and even so, people had on rain slickers and looked cold and uncomfortable. Well at least until a great float went by or a band was playing. Glad you got some laundry done and sorry for the continued muddy paws.

Sandy, hope you got your groceries. Sorry your telephone conversations were a bit morose. It was good of you to reach out to them. Take care tomorrow as you rush about. And I hope your appointment goes well.

Barbie, are you dog walking with a friend at least once in a while? Is everything in your house working well? Are you feeling okay?

Well, time to move along. Be well everyone.

:) Loved hearing about your various ways of ringing in the new year. I went to bed at 7 with the dogs and woke up when the fireworks woke Bessie and she moved to be closer to me. I played some music on my phone for the dogs and they settled down so we could all sleep.

Happy Friday! :) Picked up Lisa's parents from the airport at 8:30, doing laundry and getting picked up at noon for my trial appointment. Double paid one of my credit cards so called to get a refund which they are sending in the mail. Hoping my gifts for Max arrive in time tomorrow for his party.
I was short one item with my Walmart grocery order so they are issuing me a refund.
    When does life get simple?

Have a good day and hope Barbie is doing ok, I know how hard it is to lose a spouse.

Hello, quite cold here today but no snow. We will see what happens this weekend.

I did some laundry this morning, joined in several cardio classes and did a bit of straightening up of card making supplies. Well, it was a start. ☺️

I was in the midst of an early afternoon class when my phone rang. It was my friend who has been ill for a number of weeks. First time she’s been in touch. We talked for quite a while. She is feeling a bit better now, which I was very happy to hear. It was good to catch up a bit with her. A lot of movie selection discussion. She watches the offerings on Netflix heavily.

Sandy, if life gets simple, something must be wrong! Hope things work out, especially for the missing birthday gift.

Barbie, that sounds like a lovely way to spend the evening. Good dogs.

Jeri, hi, hope you enjoyed the ushering in of the new year.

I need to retrieve some of my freshly washed and dried clothes to take upstairs to my bedroom.

    Wishing everyone the best.

Happy Saturday! :) This afternoon is Max's 8th Birthday party with his grandparents. More presents! lol
I am washing my Christmas blankets that I throw over the back of the couches to be put away. Between today and tomorrow I hope to have my Christmas decorations put away. We leave for the Bahama's next Saturday so I have to get organized this week.
My eye trial went well, he said things are looking good but to continue with the predsnisone drops 3 times a day and the inflammation drops 2 times a day. Within the next 6 months he wants to start the injections on my left eye. This wouldn't be a trial but it is time consuming as I would have to go every month for a while and then every other month. I will do whatever it takes to keep driving. I want my independence.
I am going to what is called an ABUS ultra sound tomorrow. Because I have dense breast (sorry if TMI) and although my mammogram was normal this is a follow up to make sure all is good.
Tuesday I am going out with my friend who husband died. She is very lonely I think and was so happy when I told her we should go for lunch. Her daughter even texted me later to tell me how happy she was that we were meeting as her mom has been down lately. I told her I understood and as we are both widows we will do more together in the future.

Have a great day, I hope the sun is shining as it is by me.

Hello Sneakers. It has been very cold so walking isn’t particularly pleasant but I know how important it is to keep active. I’m finally looking at the damage in my garden caused by the recent storm and hope to take one job at a time to repair myself. George and Betty sensibly stay inside in the warm!
I spent some time hunting for a cast iron griddle pan but can’t find it anywhere. I can’t imagine I would have thrown it away because, for a start, it is heavy and there was nothing wrong with it! That was the essence of my day, apart from driving to the pet shop to buy a bag of George’s frozen raw food because last week I mistakenly bought the puppy version that happened to be in the store freezer right next to the adult bags. I fed a few to him yesterday but it was mushy and his tummy was complaining this morning. I don’t want another session of dog tummy upsets!
There is a threat of heavy snow across the whole country tonight but it’s raining at the moment so Cornwall could avoid it.
    Take care everyone.

Well darn, I see my post didn’t actually post yesterday. You didn’t miss much. I spent all day and evening working on device related issues. So many of my things are getting ancient and need to be replaced. Ouch! Anyway, I did get my tax records in Excel moved to a USB and then to my ancient, but still working Mac laptop. I opened the most recent file and started updates for filing this year’s taxes. Wow, that is an extremely slow laptop. But I need patience when preparing data for my taxes. 😂

My phone will no longer update. It has run to the end of what is now its limited capability. My Apple Watch may still have some life but it cannot update due to the phone’s limitations. My printer is very old and I 🤞🏻🤞🏻whenever I need to print or copy. I will stop there.

Looks like I may be struggling with issues until I make some purchases.

It is very cold here but the forecast has the snow going South of us now. That is fine with me.

I am making soup today, doing some exercise classes, attending online church and thinking about the next cards I want to make.

Jackie, sorry you got the wrong food last week, it is so easy to pick up the wrong item, especially when they are side by side. George will appreciate getting his proper food again. I went out last night to walk down the street to get my mail. My neighbors were just coming out to go on a family walk. They were really bundled up well including the dog. They try to walk every evening. Good for them. And please, stay warm my friend.

Sandy, how was the party? Wow, vacation coming up already! It seemed so far away when you first spoke of it. Best wishes on getting everything accomplished this week.

Barbie, just saying hello and hoping all is well. I haven’t heard anything about the weather in your area. Hope it is mot severe.

Hello to Jeri, Anne, Diane and any other Sneakers who stop by.

    Best wishes.

Happy Sunday! :) I finally finished putting all the Christmas decorations away. It seemed like there was much more than I put up. I think because I have to go up and down the stairs to the garage to store them. Max's celebration was a success. We ate, then watched one of the Harry Potter movies before having birthday cake. He was happy and that is all that matters.
I went to Mass this morning and came home to get things done. I ordered an acrylic frame with a picture of me and Bryanna and thought I paid for them to attach a song to the frame. But when I opened it all it had was the title of the song and my birthday wishes. In going back to Amazon and checking I realized I didn't pay the extra $2 for an QR code that plays the song when scanned. No refunds of course so I am trying to see if I can attach the QR code myself which seems impossible. I would be out $40 if I reorder so I might just look for a music box I can add my own tune too. She will be 30 in February but we are planning on surprising her with a party when she comes home the end of the month.
I think it is time to either relax or go ride the bike, I haven't decided yet as my back hurts.

    Have a good day all.

George woke me at 8am this morning needing to go out, but when I saw how foggy and wet it was I went back to bed and he quickly followed. It’s years since I had a lie in so enjoyed the extra snooze! The pooches showed no interest in walking anywhere so we took a day off and relaxed in front of the fire. I had a call from friend Christine who was wanting the phone number of a mutual friend and a bit later David to confirm what time I will pick him up tomorrow for what is hopefully our last hospital visit. I’m not sure I will be allowed into the building with him because we are back to restrictions on visitors because both Covid and Flu numbers are increasing rapidly. I will be happy to wait in my car! I’ve offered to stop at a supermarket on the way home for him to buy any groceries he needs. I hope it will give him more confidence when he starts to get on with his life and walk in public places otherwise I can see him becoming a hermit!
A busy week ahead because I’m planning to meet up with Sheila on Tuesday to encourage her to get out and about more, then Thursday Linda will deliver bags of firewood that her son Adam has kindly cut up for me. I have promised I will have made a brew of coffee and have lit the log burner because she had to close her chimney up when one of those air heat pumps was installed last year and misses a real fire! Friday I have an appointment for one of my skin cancer follow ups so back to Plymouth and that leaves only Wednesday for housework!

The snow storm missed us in Cornwall and although wet, it is relatively mild and I can hear a strong wind howling down the chimney that should blow the fog away.

Wow Lin, replacing just one techie item is expensive and you seem to be creating a long list! I’m not sure I would be disciplined to go walking so much without George and Betty. A last garden visit for them before bed then hopefully a brighter day tomorrow.

    Take care and keep warm.
    Jackie 🥰

:) Weather here is drizzly and about 40F. My Sunday walking friend has come every day to walk with Annie and me. I've tried going for a walk by myself so Annie can practice being in the house without me. I am doing a lot of chores on autopilot and putting one foot in front of the other. I'm OK if I stay in the moment.

:) A package arrived yesterday from Amazon addressed to "Jake Chocolate" and I remembered that Jake and his friend Alan often exchanged gifts of chocolate. I thought perhaps it was like a sympathy card, but when I contacted Alan he said he'd ordered it before Jake passed because he was thinking of him.

:) I did curbside pickup of groceries this morning and had to tell Barry, the regular pick up guy about Jake. Among other things he said that he'd noticed Jake moving slower every week.

:) I got a card a few days ago with a wonderful handwritten personal note from a friend in Arizona whom I seen only occasionally over the last 20 years. Before I could write back to her, someone let me know that her husband had died the night before. I'll have to think carefully about how to write back to her.

Good evening. Almost finished with the cards that need to be mailed. Did 6 classes today. Responded to a friend’s email and decided to order a new phone late this afternoon.

I need to do my dishes and get the trash out to the curb. Tired!

Barbie, you are doing well with your one day at a time approach. Good for you. Temp of 40 degrees sounds good. We only got up to around 20 degrees today. Brrrrrr. But we did get some sunshine, something the forecast said we would not see. Best wishes on continued work with Annie and being in the house alone.

Sandy, sorry the Amazon order wasn’t exactly what you wanted. I hope you work out a plan to find a suitable music box.

Jackie, hope your busy week goes well. I mentioned I ordered a phone and I think I will stop right there and see what develops.

    Well, hoping everyone the best.

Happy Monday! :) Today is Max's official birthday so after my appointment I went to his house and brought Mc Donald's. Then I took the three kids to Chuckie Cheese for some games. It was a fun day but I am tired. Tomorrow I am going with my friend for lunch and probably a little slot machines since she loves it so much. I do feel sad for her as they were married 64 years and she is missing him.
I just hope I am organized Friday to pack to be ready to leave Saturday morning for fun in the sun.

Barbie, sometimes there are no words to comfort people and that is ok. Just letting her know you are thinking of her, as we do you , is hopefully enough. I still miss Babe every day and have days I cry but I still carry on as we have to do. Doesn't make it any easier but everyone handles grief in their own way.
With you having a program as I do, it helps a lot. <3

    Have a good evening.

Happy Tuesday. Yesterday was busy and tiring but hopefully David can now get on with life. The Consultant wants him to discard the crutches and use the walking stick that helped before the operation and get back to driving. Whoopee! I don’t have to navigate my way along those treacherous lanes anymore! He needs to contact his local farmer to help to get his vehicle started as the battery has died. I have leads for my car but his is a large Toyota 4x4 so would probably drain my battery before boosting his! I took him to a supermarket so he could stock up and got myself home mid afternoon, just before it snowed.
Sheila and I decided this morning it is too icy to go out for coffee so will see what tomorrow brings. That means I can get on with housework. George and Betty haven’t been for a walk yet but aren’t in any rush after a garden visit!

A new phone Lin? Exciting and I will be interested to hear how you get on with it. Is it an iPhone? I still find myself doing silly things on my old Mac, expecting to be able to move things on the screen with my finger instead of its keyboard!

Energetic as ever Sandy but I hope you get to sit and watch at Chuckie Cheese! 😆

Barbie, I’m sure spending time with your friend will help ease her pain and hopefully yours. Having a reason to get up in the morning and out with people who understand what you’re going through is a start.

Oops! I forgot the pan of rice cooking on the stove for the pooches until I heard its contents popping! Time to get on with housework.

    Stay safe and warm.

:) I listen to several podcasts about happiness and a theme that comes up frequently is that helping other people will make you happier. That's what I see with all of you. Sandy with your grandchildren, your meeting, your friends, Lin with handmade cards to send to so many people, Jackie with the friends and neighbours that you assist, and Jeri with your children and grandchildren.

:) Yesterday I had a giant "sinking spell" in the afternoon and couldn't move myself to do anything but sit at the computer and play solitaire. I dozed off while playing and woke to a much better attitude. Jake always said "Never underestimate the power of a good nap". He was right.

Happy Tuesday! :) I am picking up my eye drops from doctor's office and then picking up my friend for lunch. Another friend might meet us later depending on what time and where we are. It is very cold but we will be inside.

Barbie, those sinking spells will come and go, part of grieving that we all go through. I am not going to lie, it won't be easy but you will get through it somehow. Keep busy and talk to those who will listen and understand. My heart still hurts for you. You were married for a long time and a perfect couple. I do like helping others so your podcast is right.

The weather isn’t being kind so I told Sheila it’s best to postpone our coffee morning for brighter, warmer days. More snow was forecast so I made sure the hens have food and water, then walked George round the block. I was grooming him yesterday when a friend phoned so a planned dog walk didn’t happen. Betty is suffering with tummy issues again and hasn’t had a good appetite so it was best to leave her at home because it was so cold. I wonder if she has developed a food intolerance and a visit to the vet might be in order .
It is snowing now but the main fire is lit and there’s nowhere I need to be. Linda has messaged to postpone our get together tomorrow because she has caught a nasty virus. Her son managed to get her an appointment at the GP practice for a thorough check and luckily, no sign of flu or Covid so she needs to stay in the warm and wait for whatever it is to pass.
The hospital I will visit on Friday has declared a critical incident due to high numbers of patients being admitted and that might mean my appointment being postponed, not that I’ll mind as I don’t have any concerns.

    Take care and keep warm.

Happy Wednesday! :) Got my mani/pedi done. I didn't sleep well so I didn't run any errands to come come to rest and try and take a nap. So far I have spent too much time on my computer and haven't napped. Getting all my documents needed to travel including my passport so I should be all set.
I just have to check in on Friday and then do laundry and pack. I also have a follow-up appointment with my back doctor at noon on Friday.

I hope you are all feeling well and staying warm. Sending healing thoughts to you Barbie.

It is cold here again today but although the forecast was for a cloudy day but surprise, we have sunshine.

Jackie, sorry Betty isn’t feeling well. And also sorry Linda is unwell. I hope you’ll be able to reschedule soon. Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if you are unable to keep the appointment at the hospital. Our hospitals are quite full now as well. I don’t know if they have issued any visitor restrictions or have put off any appointments. Stay warm! And be safe.

Sandy, you are busy, busy, busy. I do hope all goes well regarding your upcoming vacation. And that the weather will be great.

Barbie, we all have ups and downs even without a major life event. I know you will find your way through as you are so balanced and have educated yourself on life issues. Wishing you well and hey Annie, be good to your mom.

Time to get ready for my last class today. My back is acting up so I am quite glad to be at the end of today’s cardio road!

    Be safe.
