Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday!

We have 7 (C) foggy degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 12 and 39% chance of afternoon showers.

All of the food prepared for Christmas dinner is eaten. I finished it off with supper last night.

We do have a whole, unopened tin of Pecan Meltaway cookies that I'm saving until Jason gets back home. I bought two tins of those this year and we gradually ate one as we worked our way through the beginning days of December, approaching Christmas. We also ate 16 dark chocolate covered cherries apiece, some holiday fudge, and a whole lot of lovely Italian chocolate sent by a friend as an early Christmas gift.

Breakfast was sausage biscuit sandwiches and some cheesy grits.

Looking toward the new year now.

    Ed, wow, lots of celebrating!
Irene, glad you had a great Christmas!
Jo, hope you're getting some relaxing time.
I got my hair cut yesterday, so glad I found this hairdresser!
It's currently 54F, 12C, and raining. Cloudy with rain developing this afternoon. High 62F, 17C. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Warm today, but will get cold by the end of the week.
Need to catch up with some things around the house and will see what else the day brings.
Wishing all a peaceful Sunday. โ˜•๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ•Ž๐Ÿท๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 14 (C) cloudy degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 17 and 18% chance of precipitation. The rain that had originally been expected for today seems to have come overnight. I was aware of thunder several times in the night and could hear the rain hitting the glass. At one point there was an incredibly loud crack of thunder that made me jump. I'm sure the cats were not happy with all the noise.

Of course, we have the new year coming up soon and all the fireworks that will come along with that!

Supper last night was cottage pie, and the rest of that will be lunch today. Breakfast was steak (tenderloin) and eggs, with buttered biscuits.

The dishwasher is running now and I'll be feeding the cats shortly.

After I finish my tea and coffee, I'll be heading out I guess for groceries.

I made some baked pumpkin donuts yesterday. They were different, not bad, just not what you'd expect from a donut. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Howdy all y'all. It's magnificent Monday!

We have 8 (C) partly cloudy degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 16 and 5% chance of precipitation.

I made pumpkin doughnuts once. They came out pretty well, and I drizzled them with cream cheese frosting. They were a hit at work, at the time, so I was in no danger of eating all of them.

Nothing critical on the agenda for today. Supper last night was a pizza from the freezer. Breakfast was a tenderloin steak and some crumpets with maple syrup. Lunch will be the leftover pizza.

My day of the week sense is all messed up by being on vacation with holidays. Monday doesn't really feel like Monday. Middle of the week major holidays feel like Sunday in the middle of the week so Tuesday feels like Saturday. LOL.

    Last day of 2024!
Ed, my day of the week sense is messed up too! I love pumpkin spice anything, pretty much. Your donuts must have been delicious!
Irene, donuts are supposed to be fried, and they are probably better that way. Plus I make everything gluten free which can be a challenge.
It's currently 39F, 4C. Mostly sunny skies this morning will give way to occasional showers during the afternoon. Thunder possible. High 56F, 13C. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%. Supposed to be chillier, into freezing temps after today, so will enjoy the warmth while it's here.
We've got a dinner reservation for tonight at a new Italian restaurant in town that took the location of one of our old favorites. I'm sure it'll be nice.
Wishing all a fun and safe night, and a Happy New Year!

Howdy all y'all. It's... terrific Tuesday! (Had to think about that for a moment)

We have 15 (C) cloudy degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 19 and 15% chance of precipitation.

The dishwasher is running, and I just gave my mail cast iron skillet a good scrubbing, after cooking the last (sob) beef tenderloin steak in the house for breakfast. I served it with buttered biscuits and two over-easy eggs.

I may take a nap today to see if that makes it easier to stay up to toast the new year in. I bought a small bottle of prosecco for that purpose but there is no rule that says I actually have to stay up to drink it at midnight! I could have mimosa or two with breakfast in the morning instead...

But, since they ALWAYS set off fireworks in the area to ring the new year in, I might as well stay up as they would wake me up anyway and I can try to calm the cats down if I'm already up.

Whew, I just now remembered to dig the ham hocks out of the deep freeze in the garage. They are now sitting in the refrigerator to thaw for tomorrow's pot of black-eyed peas. The jowl bacon is already in the refrigerator. I thought about buying fresh collard greens but decided cleaning, chopping, etc, is more trouble than I want to take so got frozen.

No special dessert. New Year's is all about the black-eyed peas, greens, and cornbread, which, all together, make a very nice, complete meal. My corn bread will be gluten free since I make it with only corn meal, no flour, for a nice, dense, crumbly cornbread. No sugar either!

Well, as I've been typing, the sun peeked out and I got a cup of coffee. Time to move on to other things!

I have to decide what to wear to the living room for New Year's Eve tonight.

Jo and Irene, hope you had a fun New Year's Eve.
Our dinner out was nice. I had a glass of Washington State Riesling, and wild mushroom ravioli. Pete had broiled branzino filet. It was a treat.
It's currently 41F, 5C. A mix of clouds and sun with gusty winds. High near 45F, 7C. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Higher wind gusts possible.

    eoudy52lozes.png

We have 5 (C - feels like 2) fair, mostly sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 11 and 2% chance of precipitation.

I managed to stay up to toast in the new year, and then some as the fireworks were going hot and heavy for quite a while.

Having prosecco so close to going to bed, I woke up with a headache, but took some ipuprofen and a b-12 tablet, and it's mostly better now.

Nothing critical on the agenda for today. I've already had some leftovers for breakfast. More for lunch and probably supper. Maybe one more meal, but we'll see.

    The dishwasher is running now.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday!

We have 0 (C - feels like -4) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 10 and 1% chance of precipitation.

Orion let my sleep until shortly after 8:00 but then insisted it was time to arise and face the day.

The cats are patiently (for the moment) waiting for their breakfast which is due at 9:30.

I suspect Dinah may be poking at me about that shortly.

    Hi Jo and Irene.
We celebrated the 8th night of Chanukah last night with my 2 older grandchildren. It was fun.
I had an acupuncture appt this morning and our housecleaner is here. I'm doing some laundry.
It's currently 35F, 2C. Overcast skies and windy. Temps nearly steady in the mid to upper 30s, 2-4C. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
I hope it doesn't snow too much on Monday because I have a rheumatology appt.

I have had a cold since coming back from vacation. I managed to go to work, but spent the
remainder of my time lying on the sofa and drinking lots of hot lemon water with honey.

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!

We have 6 (C - feels like 2) sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 11 and 1% chance of precipitation.

Yesterday I had the fun of going to Walgreens and setting up my Medicare Part D and the person who set it up said it might not stick so I may get to do all that again when I pick up my next prescription(s)!

Then I went around to a tire place to get a valve stem replaced on one tire that wasn't holding air well and wouldn't fill. That was only $39.99 so I felt like I got a deal.

Last night I finished off my black-eyed peas and collards, all in one bowl, and made fried hot water cornbread to go with it as I had finished all the regular cornbread at lunch.

Breakfast was a chilly morning favorite, biscuits and hot sausage gravy.

I have no clue what lunch will be, or supper tonight, though I did set up some chicken thighs and if they are thawed enough, may re-use the oil from frying cornbread to make some fried chicken. We'll see. I used a little of the oil for the gravy at breakfast.

Nothing critical on the agenda for today.

Jo, glad you're back, hope you had a wonderful time. Sorry you have a cold. Lemon water and honey is good, also chicken soup if you have any. Actually most soups are soothing, I hope you can get enough rest.
Ed, sounds like you were able to cross off some items from your todo list. That's good.
    Irene, how your puppy doing?
I got an injection in my knee yesterday. It feels a little better, but takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to get the full effect, so I'm still a little gimpy.
We had a bit of snow last night, it stuck for a little while, pretty, but is gone now. It's windy and cold.
It's currently 26F, -3C. Partly cloudy and windy. High 29F, -2C. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday!

We have 2 (C - feels like -3) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 8 and no chance of precipitation.

Sounds like a lovely day to enjoy the sunshine by looking out the windows!

The dishwasher is running now. Nothing else critical on the agenda but I do have some light housecleaning to get to, and MAY start some laundry...but probably not.

Yesterday I had prescriptions ready at Walgreen's so got to finish out the Medicare issues as Blue Cross wasn't going through as secondary and I eventually had to have the Blue Cross Medicare-D specialist call the pharmacy to walk them through exactly how to set it up. Two prescriptions were free, but the third was going to cost an arm and a leg without the Blue Cross secondary coverage, even though Wellcare (my Medicare-D coverage) had knocked the outrageous full price down considerably. When they got it all worked out, the third prescription was free too! In the prior year, before I got on Medicare, it had always been $40 with just Blue Cross.

I had heard that Medicare-D might knock a lot of prescriptions down to free if I kept my Blue Cross as secondary but hadn't really thought it likely. But I'm glad that worked out well.

So while I had to spend a lot of time on the phone and wrangling with Walgreen's it was worth it. Supposedly it should not be a problem for future prescriptions. Time will tell which additional ones turn out to be free.

It's the last weekend of my vacation so I want to enjoy it.

I have grocery shopping and probably laundry to do.

Irene, expecting that storm here too.
    Hi Jo.
Ed, I'm doing laundry today too Regular load in now, bedclothes next.
Pete started our snow blower yesterday to make sure it would work, and it's broken. It was smoking like crazy so we need to get it fixed. Luckily we don't have to go anywhere. My rheumatology appt for Monday was postponed to February.
I baked some squash yesterday so I can make quick butternut squash soup today.
My face is flushed, and I'm not sleeping well. I remembered I had this reaction to the cortisone shot last time, so hopefully that will go away in another day or two. My knee's starting to feel a little better, still icing it.
It's currently 23F, -5C. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 32F, 0C. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.
Cloudy with snow developing after midnight. Low 23F, -5C. Winds light and variable. Chance of snow 100%. 3 to 5 inches of snow expected overnight.
Pete went to get some engine cleaner, see if that will help the snow blower.
Wishing all an enjoyable sunny Sunday. โ˜•โ›…โ„๏ธ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday!

We have 8 (C - feels like 6) cloudy degrees with a wind advisory. The expected cloudy high is 10 and we have 12% chance of precipitation, though I'm sure I heard rain while I was preparing and eating breakfast.

I did not get laundry started yesterday, but surely need to get to that today I think. I'll start with the sheets and towels, then probably whites, then the "normal" clothes. Probably won't get it all done today.

I had baked chicken thighs, baked cornbread dressing, and broccoli for supper and will be having the same for lunch or possibly supper tonight. I made Jason some Cumin Club freeze dried Indian dishes that all reconstituted pretty nicely and had good flavor. He'll be having more of that for lunch, as half the rice is left and I can reconstitute another pouch of Paneer Tikka Masala to put on that rice.

Work beckons. I fear how much there may be to test after two weeks off, but there probably won't be as much as I fear. LOL.

Jo and Irene, hope all is well.
Ed, good luck getting back into work after time off. Your dinner sounds good. We had some eggplalnt for dinner, baked with cheese and tomato sauce. I also made the butternut squash soup, yum.
It snowed a few inches overnight and is still snowing. Pete changed the oil in the snowblower and put in fresh gasoline yesterday which seemed to help.
It's currently 22F, -6C. Snow this morning will transition to snow showers this afternoon. High 26F, -3C. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 100%. 1 to 3 inches of snow expected. Light snow this evening will give way to some clearing late. Low 19F, -7C. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 70%. Snow accumulations less than one inch. So probably about 7 or 8 inches total.
Our birds were waiting for seed this morning. They are happier now that it's out there.
My rheumatologist had a cancellation on Wednesday, so I'll be able to go then instead of waiting until February. It's the same day as my dermatology appt, and they're both in Frederick, so I guess I'll do some shopping in between.
I always have things to do around the house, can foil some stained glass pieces I brought home.
Wishing all a good day. Stay warm and safe. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธโ„๏ธโ˜ƒ๏ธ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

    It's COLD.

I have hot biscuits baking. Well, they'll be hot when they are baked.

I got one load of laundry washed, dried, and folded. The next load is in the dryer, waiting to be folded, and the last load is in the washer, waiting to be washed.

I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon so not sure how much farther I'll get on laundry today.

Getting back into work wasn't as horrible as I'd feared. I got several tickets closed, opened one new one for the programmers, and have questions to ask about several, which will be asked in this morning's daily call.
