Happy but not so happy Tuesday! So took a home test and tested positive for covid last night. I swore I only have a cold but someone said with so much sniffling she tested herself so I did. Even though my test was expired it says that a false negative is possible but not a false positive. I called my doctor's office today and she is prescribing Paxlovid which Cheryl is picking up for me. Hopefully, by Saturday I will be better and able to go to Bryanna's gathering for her 30th birthday. It makes me think Max had covid but he was never tested so we will never know.
Barbie, glad you are taking it one step at a time, it's the only thing you can do for now. Hopefully, you notified Social Security so you can get survivor benefits for February. Since Babe moved in with me I already had all the utilities in my name so no changes were necessary. Just take care of yourself.
Lin, I bit the bullet and paid off my car and the one credit card that I was making payments on. I will feel better not to have any outstanding debts except for my normal monthly bills. I feel ok, not 100% but not terrible enough to lay in bed.
Jackie, hope all is well with you and the critters.

Oh my Sandy, I am sorry to hear you have Covid. Hopefully the Paxlovid will make the symptoms subside. It is only Tuesday so likely you will be able to go to Bryanna’s birthday celebration. And happy to hear you have paid off your car and credit card. Excellent!
Little by little Barbie, I am sure everything will come together in time. Often there are not many people available to help with changes. It takes a lot of patience.
Jackie, how are you? Sorry if I missed your posts.
Busy day with many Zoom classes, two live programs on YouTube and put in a grocery order to pick up tomorrow.
Take care my friends.

Yesterday was a day of power cuts although that latest storm had passed through. Falling trees take out overhead cables and I imagine at the moment the crews are working flat out. I didn’t go far, except to walk George then drive to the pet store to buy more palatable food and probiotic for Betty. I fed her small portions throughout the day and she definitely perked up.
George and I had a short walk first thing because it was wet and windy and I was due to drive to my hairdresser for a cut. I can tell Betty is feeling brighter so I fed her before leaving. There is still a lot of debris off the trees on the roads but everyone was taking it steady and I arrived right on time. I’ve booked my next appointment to put some colour in, although I’m not sure yet whether to go bright or subtle. We laughed remembering my pink hair during lockdown and I admitted I still have one box left!
When I got home I was greeted by two very excited dogs but that made Betty suddenly need to rush outside and I was delighted to see her diarrhoea is almost gone so the hypo allergenic food does work!
We might get the edge of yet another storm tomorrow but after that the weather forecaster promises brighter days ahead.
What an adorable pixie sitting beside the teapot Lin. Your little critters on sleds sound cute but what patience you have!
Sandy, I count myself lucky to have a couple of thoughtful friends living within a mile from my home although like you, I’m not sure how it would work if they needed to get into my home. I have a spare set of keys hidden outside so should maybe tell them!
🥱 Bedtime and Betty is asking to go outside!
Take care

Sandy, So sorry you have covid....best wishes for a speedy recovery so you can go back to your fun activities. I called social security last week. They said the wait time was more than 120 minutes so I left a call back number and they returned the call in 190 minutes. There are no appointments available at my local office so they'll call me when something can be scheduled. I'm sure that since the new Social Security legislation came into effect this month, that Social Security is swamped with people who are now eligible who weren't before. My pension is adequate so I'm not hurting while I wait.
My attempt to get Jake's name off the cable/internet account was dramatic contrast to the wonderful service at the electric company yesterday. I went into the office and the woman told me they didn't do account name change at the office any more and I'd have to fill out a form, attached documents, and either mail or FAX it to the main office in Pennsylvania. There was no comment about being sorry for my loss or sorry that I had to do this paperwork on my own. On the way home, I reframed it with gratitude that I had the brains and technology to take care of it. So the papers are in the mail and I've noted what I did on my list of what I've done.

Happy Wednesday! Feeling better every day so hopefully by Saturday I will be fine. The Paxlovid seems to be working along with the cold and flu pills I am taking. I ordered a small grocery order and will ask them to leave them outside my door so I don't have contact with them.
It's a beautiful day here but I am content staying in and staying safe.
Barbie, I believe the funeral home sent Babe's death certificate to social security and I didn't have to do anything. Have you checked your social security account to see if they have changed your benefit?
I hope I am not upsetting you with these pieces of advice, I know you are smart enough to do this on our own so forgive me. My biggest worry this year is income tax as I haven't filed single for over 40 years. I am going to presume the accountant will let me know if I forget anything although so far I haven't received anything in the mail.
Jackie, I am glad Betty is feeling better and eating. I remember your pink hair, it was cute. Bryanna does different colors, I think she is purple this time. I did give Cheryl a spare key to my main door and told her I have a hidden key in my garage. I just hope she remembers.
Thank you Lin, I do feel better so I think the meds are working. At least I am not sneezing my head off anymore. Feels good to pay those two bills off and have extra money in my savings account. I have to take care of myself and stop worrying about what will be left for the kids.
Have a good day.

Hello friends. It was a nice day. I did a couple of errands in the morning and wore a lighter jacket. I spoke with a friend this afternoon and we had a good conversation punctuated with lots of laughs. Loved it! This spring we may take a trip to her favorite greenhouse. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Sandy, feel better every day! ❤️❤️
Barbie, I hope you receive an appointment with Social Security soon. You are definitely doing a great job sorting through all the necessary accounts. Good attitude for sure. Wishing you the best as you continue the quest to get everything settled.
Jackie, how is Betty today? I remember your pink hair, I liked it! Hope the weather is tame and that you and all of the dear animals are healthy.
Need to move along. May tomorrow be a very good day for everyone.

Sandy, Thank you for your suggestions about Social Security. First I had to create a new log in which took awhile since when they sent me the code, I didn't realize it went to spam and after waiting for a long time, I figured it out. I didn't think it would matter since I don't receive social security. My pension is from teaching in California not Social Security. I'm sure things are crazy at Social Security offices since the new legislation that allows people with pensions from teaching, fire fighting, law enforcement, etc. to receive SS benefits. I'll just have to wait until they can see me at my local SS office. This is a small community with a small office but a huge population of retirees.
Finally one piece of the endless list of stuff is complete. I got new checks with only my name. Everything else is in some sort of pending situation.
I made my third call to the credit union that holds the car loan. I can't get the registration on the car changed without some document from them. The first woman I talked to remembered me and said that both the branch manager and the loan officer had tried to call me. But they hadn't. She tracked down the loan manger who said I could come in to pick up the needed document (the branch is 40 miles away) or she could send it. I asked her to send it. When I get it, I can take it to the department of licensing and they'll change the registration.

Happy Thursday! Another nice day outside but I am staying in once again. I feel better just get a little headache from the Plaxlovid and have a little cough. Two more days of meds should help and hopefully let me out of the house on Saturday.
Barbie, I am sure you will work it all out and get things settled sooner than later. Yes, Social Security changed their sign in to ID.me for our protection so it gets confusing. Nothing is easy these days.
Lin, thank you and hope you are healthy and out of pain with your back.
Jackie, how are things in Cornwell?
Have a good one.

Hello friends. Finally a sunny mild day so I took George up to his favourite moorland walk, after hanging out to dry a load of washed doggy towels. Quite a few walkers were making the most of the sunshine and everyone smiling and friendly. Even George remained in a good mood when a cheeky spaniel puppy ran to him and spun on the spot in front of him! Betty has received her 2nd B12 injection and the vet again ran through options if other treatment is required but at the moment, with 4 small daily meals of the new food, she has made some small improvements so the advice is to keep doing what I’m doing.
My friend Pat should be arriving tomorrow some time for a long weekend stay and I haven’t received any updates so assume she will turn up when she can! As I prepared a meal this evening my friend in Canada tested a WhatsApp call because we hope to catch up on Saturday and will try this option rather than a zoom meeting. She was surprised she actually got through so we only had a brief chat!
Sandy, I’m sorry I missed your post telling us about your Covid diagnosis. You seem to have managed it very well and I’m glad you are beginning to feel better.
Lin, wearing a lighter jacket is a good sign! Not quite out of January yet but fingers crossed. I received an order of fuel for the main stove that will hopefully get me through to end March because the price has gone up considerably. 🫤
I’d better get to bed!
Take care.

Happy Friday! Didn't sleep that well but started laundry. Decided to wash all my bedding including comforter to get rid of germs. I plan on washing my bathroom throw rugs as well as my regular laundry so will be busy all day. I feel good although I have a little cough but will wear a mask tomorrow for Bryanna's party. I know she wanted to come see me today but I told her to wait until tomorrow. She thinks she is going to dinner with her mom and me.
We are getting lots of rain today so it is a good day to stay in although at some point I have to bring my garbage cans into the garage since it is garbage day.
Jackie, I do hope the B12 shots help Betty improve even more. George is a character and sounds fun to be around. Thank you for good wishes and do hope it is over but will be cautious.
Lin and Barbie, have a good day.

Hello, sorry I missed yesterday. I hit a spot at in the day when I started to feel somewhat unwell and believe it or not, I lost my appetite. I slowed down and went to bed early. I woke up early this morning and coughed for quite a while. Longer than normal.
Busy day with classes and a line dancing party this afternoon. Thank goodness for Zoom.
Sandy, a busy laundry day for you. Glad you are feeling better.
Jackie, a happy time with George yesterday. I hope you have more good weather days. Have a good visit with Pat.
Barbie, I hope some of the things you are waiting for arrive soon.
Wishing everyone well.

The Minack Theatre in Cornwell, England.
Jackie, this popped up on my computer screensaver. It's just beautiful, have you been there?0 -
Good morning and happy Saturday. Pat arrived safely and we sat up until about 1:30am talking and laughing lots and George woke me this morning about 8am wanting to go outside so I’ve showered, made coffee and enjoyed toast with a spread of Linda’s marmalade but no sign of Pat surfacing! I’ll wake her before walking George and Betty can stay in her bed. She is slowly improving so I’m feeding her more portions to build her weight, if possible.
Yes Sandy, I have visited the Minack theatre and even sat one evening with friends watching a play. It’s an amazing place, built mostly by hand by a lady with a vision. Of course she had help but it is considered her hard work.
Got to go, we’ve booked a WhatsApp with Canadian friends.

Happy Saturday! It's going to be cold again today but I am going to Bryanna's party. I have no symptoms except for a cough so I will wear a mask. I just have to be there, I miss her so much. We have a family zoom call at 12:30 because John and Laurie didn't come in as planned do to my Covid. Cheryl will pick me up so we can get there early to welcome Bryanna's friends. Bryanna will come with her mom under the pretense that they are meeting me for dinner. It's only for a couple of hours so I hope it all works out.
Jackie, sounds like you are having a great time with Pat, enjoy your visit. What a great place to watch a play, it just amazes me. Glad Betty is feeling better.
Lin, I hope you are feeling better, there is so much going around. Just take care of yourself.
Have a good day all,
Sandy

Hello, a cold and windy day. I stayed in and had lots of things on my schedule but the schedule evaporated as several friends called and long conversations followed. Very enjoyable and comprehensive discussions.
I also was working on cutting out shapes for my critter cards. There is a dog and a tiny bird, they are Gus and Gertie. I adore them. I have purchased each little stamp set that was put out for sale. I am not sure anyone who receives my cards would fall in love with them. They would know I was a crazy old woman although that is not a secret. 😁
Jackie, I hope you are still having a terrific weekend. And sending birthday wishes to you as you have now turned the date to February 2nd.
Sandy, I trust your get together this evening was a surprise and enjoyed by all.
Be safe.
