    good morning
Thanks, Jo, I think it's getting better. We didn't get snow yesterday, but some wintry mix is expected Saturday, and it looks like a big storm on Tuesday, continuing into Wednesday and Thursday! That'll mess up my schedule.
    Hi Ed and Irene.
It's currently 38F,3C. and pretty sunny at the moment, a bit windy. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 44F,7C. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
I'd like to get out to the library today and maybe TJMaxx to pick up some Valentines Day presents.
Wishing all an easy Friday. Stay safe and warm. ☕🌞⛅🍷🕊️

    good morning
I stopped at the library and picked up a Fredrik Backman book, they are always heartfelt. I stopped at TJ Maxx, picked up some honey, extra virgin coconut oil, and a couple of little things, but didn't really find the valentine's day things I was looking for, just something simple for the little ones. I'll look elsewhere.
I did some cleaning, and made a big pot of butternut squash soup. yum.
It's currently 30F,-1C, a light gray outside. Some snow showers early will give way to a mix of wintry precipitation for the afternoon. Temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s, low single digits C. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 80%.
Will see what the day brings.
Wishing all a fun weekend. Stay safe and warm. ☕ 🌨️❄️🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday!

We have 17 (C) cloudy degrees with an expected medium cloudy high of 22 and 11% chance of precipitation.

Irene, glad the MRA was normal. Hope they can figure everything out.

It's a weekend, and I intend to enjoy it as much as possible!

Largely by doing as little as possible, probably. LOL.

Ed, good to take time to relax.
I am starting to feel better from my cold, but it's hard to shake the stress right now.
Pete has a sinus infection. Will has an ear infection and strep. 😷
It was icy all day yesterday.
It's currently 36F, 2C. Partly cloudy. High 41F, 5C. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Higher wind gusts possible.
Wishing all a relaxing Sunday. ☕⛅🌬️🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 16 (C) cloudy degrees with an expected medium cloudy high of 20 and 15% chance of precipitation.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon, Vix!

Grocery shopping is on today's agenda. I expect there will be lots of "game day" stuff available, and the store may be a bit more busy than usual, but we'll see. I don't really care about the Super Bowl myself but do usually (eventually) watch the half time show and the commercials.

Dinah is getting anxious about breakfast, even though it's not quite 9:30 yet.

    Good morning;
It is currently 28F and the snow is winding down. We got about 4in. Charlie is snowblowing the
driveway and I will go out in a little while to do a little touch up.
Vix-I hope the family is feeling better soon.
    Irene-glad you MRA was normal.
Ed-I don't care about watching the Super Bowl either. I usually just check the score from time to
    time.
Have a good day and stay safe! :)

Ed, hope you had a good shopping trip.
Jo, that's a good amount of snow! Snow blowers save so much work.
    Hi Irene.
Thanks for the well wishes. My cold is getting better, but everyone else is still sick. It hit my daughter hard yesterday. I hope she[s feeling better today.
I don't usually watch football games or sports in general, not really interested (except I do enjoy most of the olympics). Watched more of the Superbowl than I usually do. A sure sign of getting old: I couldn't understand most of the words to the songs in the halftime show, and when I looked up the lyrics, I still didn't understand a lot of it! 🤣🤣🤣
It's currently 30F,-1C, very cloudy. Partly cloudy expected. High 41F, 5C. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. The forecast keeps changing. Now they showing a winter storm watch from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. I guess we'll see.
I need to do some laundry today, nothing else on the agenda.
Wishing all a bright shiny new week. ☕☁️⛅🌟🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday!

We have 7 (C) mostly cloudy degrees (feels like 5) with an expected cloudy high of 16 and 10% chance of precipitation. It got cold enough for the heat to come on this morning, so a bit more normal for February but still unseasonably warm.

It's Monday so the work week has started.

    Scam of the Week

    A Prime Phishing Scam

Thousands of shoppers worldwide pay for an Amazon Prime membership to access special deals and fast shipping. Cybercriminals know this and attempt to use this to their advantage. In this week’s scam, you receive an email alerting you that your Prime membership will soon expire. A link in the email directs you to a PDF file.

If you open the PDF file, you will be redirected to what looks like an Amazon login page. Even though the login page looks genuine, it’s actually fake and controlled by cybercriminals. If you enter your login information, the page asks for more sensitive data, such as your home address and credit card information. If you enter your personal information and credit card number, your Amazon Prime membership won’t be renewed. Instead, cybercriminals will have stolen your login and financial information!

Follow these tips to avoid falling victim to an Amazon Prime phishing scam:

You should always be cautious when opening an attachment, especially if the email is unexpected.
If you’re concerned that your Amazon Prime membership has expired, go directly to Amazon’s official website or mobile app to check its status.

Be suspicious of emails that create a sense of urgency or request sensitive information. If you’re unsure an email is legitimate, contact Amazon directly through their official website or customer service number.

    good morning
Thanks for the scam info, Ed.
Sorry you're still not well, Irene. Hope you feel better soon.
    Hi Jo.
    My cold is improving.
It's currently 27F, -3C. Snow showers early will become steadier snow for the afternoon. High 33F, 1C. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 90%. About one inch of snow expected. Other forecasts say 2-4 inches. We have a winter weather advisory. No school closings or delays in our county at this time. Some other counties are closing early. So I will head up to Westminster for craft day.
I found a recipe for instant pot short ribs and Pete made that for dinner yesterday. That was a treat, we don't eat much red meat.
Wishing all a fine Tuesday, stay safe and warm. ☕☁️❄️👩🏻‍🎨🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!

We have 6 (C) cloudy degrees (feels like 3) with an expected overcast high of 7 so not going to get much warmer, and 78% chance of precipitation. I'm feeling this cool snap and humidity in my bones!

Coincidentally I slow cooked some boneless beef short ribs yesterday and dinner was one piece of that, with some garlic mashed potatoes with gravy and a small ciabatta roll with butter. I thought about steaming some broccoli or, perhaps, some green peas but decided it was a meat and potatoes kind of night.

I'll be running the dishwasher soon, after feeding the cats.

Ed, must have been short ribs night! Garlic mashed potatoes, yum.
    Hi Jo.
It's currently 27F, -3C. Snow showers in the morning giving way to a mixture of rain and sleet for the afternoon. High 34F, 1C. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 80%.
Schools are closed this morning, but county offices are open at 10, so hopefully the roads will be ok by then. I have a dentist appt at 10. So far he hasn't cancelled. I put on my hiking boots which are pretty grippy and water resistant.
    Wishing all a happy 🐪day. ☕🌨️❄️☃️🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!

We have 3 (C) cloudy, rainy degrees (feels like 1) with an expected cloudy high of 6 and 100% chance of precipitation.

Good day to stay in working!

Might run the dishwasher this morning but might wait until after lunch.

Breakfast was some steel cut oats with maple and brown sugar, two boiled eggs, and a mushroom root based cutlet meant to resemble beef. It was interesting, and did have something of a meaty texture. There is another in the freezer, and a couple of cutlets meant to resemble chicken breast.

    Back to work!

    Good afternoon,
Currently 34F and cloudy. We are expecting snow turning to rain overnight. It will be a slushy
    commute tomorrow.
Irene-my cold lingered for about a month. I hope you feel better soon.
Vix and Ed-I like short ribs, but have never tried cooking them. I may have to give it a try.
    Have a good afternoon. :)

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday!

We have 6 (C) foggy degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 13 and 4% chance of precipitation. After two dismal, cloudy, rainy days it looks like today will be a nice one.

Dinah is sitting in my lap helping me type.

Dinner last night was noodles and meatballs with spicy tomato sauce.

Breakfast this morning, biscuits and gravy.

    Well, back to work!

Ed, I love oatmeal for breakfast. I see you're trying some vegetarian foods. Glad you got a nice day.
Irene, I love how pretty snow always makes everything.
Jo, our snow turned to rain and washed clear the sidewalks and roads. The instant pot short ribs turned out well and only had to cook about 40 minutes.
I took the main roads to the dentist yesterday, and it was fine. It was still snowing a bit, and we got some rain mixed with snow later. It's very foggy this morning!
It's currently 35F, 2C. Chance of a morning shower. Foggy early then partly cloudy and windy this afternoon. High 49F,9C. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph.
I may meet a friend out for lunch later. Watching the birds out the window, so pretty.
Wishing all a nice Thursday. ☕🌫️☁️🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!

We have -3 (C) sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 14 and 2% chance of precipitation.

Jason got home from Kentucky this morning about 5:00. I wish he wouldn't drive overnight like that, but that's not something I'm likely to change so I try not to worry about it.

Plenty to test today. Then the weekend!

Irene, yes, the weather is crazy! Our snow is all gone, it went up to about 50 yesterday, and cold again today.
Ed, people generally do what they want. Sometimes it's hard not to worry. I do the same, have to remind myself to trust their judgement.
    Jo, hope all is well.
I went out to lunch with a friend yesterday, so nice. 😊
It's currently 28F,-2C. Plentiful sunshine. High 37F. 3C. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph. So nice to have sunshine!
I have an acupuncture appt this morning and our housecleaner is coming. Yay!

    good morning
I went to the library yesterday, and picked up a book. They have another for me today, so I'll go over and pick that one up too. I made hot and sour soup for dinner and Pete made turkey burgers. We had godiva chocolate for desert. Yum.
It's currently 32F, 0C. Snow showers will change to a steady rain. High 37F, 3C. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 100%. Wind expected later up to 20-30 mph, gusts 50-60mph!
We'll be going to our grandson's birthday party late afternoon at one of those activity centers. There will be a bunch of kids there. It'll be fun.

Howdy all y'all. It's soggy Saturday!

We have 5 (C) rainy degrees (feels like 3) with an expected rainy high of 12 and 71% chance of precipitation.

Jason had hoped for a nice day so he could ride his motorcycle to a meeting he has this afternoon, but I don't think that's going to happen. The meeting will presumably happen, but don't think he'll be riding the motorcycle.

We went out last night, stopping at several gaming stores as Jason has gotten into some Pokémon go and Pokémon card thing. After visiting three stores, we stopped for a late dinner/supper at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, where we were pleasantly surprised to see that they have revamped the menu, bringing back some things we hadn't seen since pre-covid days, like the taco salad that Jason had, and adding some new items like the bowl I had. My bowl had rice, black beans, ground beef (chicken or steak were also options), shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded white cheese, and sour cream. It was delicious and very filling. There was much more food (and more ground beef) than it looked like on delivery.

We both had gone in with other, specific items in mind but the revamped menu revamped our planned dinner selections too!

Next time, Jason thinks he may try the bowl, but without any meat, and I may try one of the other new items or may fall back to the enchilada combo that I had intended to buy when we got there this time.

I have some laundry going, and more waiting, as Jason just got back yesterday morning with big bags of dirty laundry.

Breakfast was steel cut oatmeal with brown sugar and a drizzle of maple syrup, along with some warmed up Spam.

I do need to water plants today too.

Ed, sounds like the Mexican restaurant exceeded expectations! Pokémon is still around, huh. 😂👵🏻
My grandson's party was nice last night, lots of kids. The place was full of arcades and games and movies, very loud, sensory overload for me! They had fun, pizza, balloons, and cake (alien themed).
Pete and I left after they sang happy birthday and went out for dinner. It was nice. Pete had a steak, I had a Rachel with half left over for today. It was rainy and foggy getting home.
It's currently 39F, 4C. Rain likely. Becoming windy in the afternoon. High near 55F, 13C. SW winds at 10 to 15 mph, increasing to 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph. Cold again tomorrow.
I have some laundry and other things to do around the house. Gray and gloomy looking day.
Wishing all an peaceful Sunday. ☕🌫️☁️🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 13 (C) rainy degrees (feels like 10) with an expected partly cloudy high of 14 and 49% chance of precipitation.

Dinner last night was at our favorite Thai restaurant. We bought extra as Jason has another meeting today that, hopefully, won't last over 4 hours as yesterday's meeting did. We went to dinner as soon as he got home but it was still rather later than I had hoped.

Jason had basil fried rice with tofu, spicy hot, and Rama curry tofu, ordered for both of us. I had just a bite of the Rama curry, and some house fried rice with pork. About half of everything came home with us so we needn't cook for dinner/supper tonight.

Breakfast was cheese grits and some warmed up Spam.

I have laundry to fold and groceries to buy.

    (and cats to feed shortly)

    Good morning;
We had snow overnight about 6 in, that has now turned to rain. He was very heavy snow. We got
the driveway and deck cleared and put down some rock salt.
Vix-Happy birthday to Will, sounds like the kids had fun at the party.
Ed-your rice bowl from the Mexican restaurant sounds so good.
    Hi Irene.
Charlie and I went out to lunch for Valentine's day. We went to Longhorn steak house. We ate
half and brought half home for another meal.
We are spending the day relaxing after our snow removal.
    Have a great day! :)

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday!

We have -1 (C) fair, mostly sunny degrees (feels like -6) with an expected sunny high of 9 and 1% chance of precipitation.

I still have laundry to fold. Might get to that today.

Dinner/supper yesterday was the leftover Thai food. There is enough left for Jason to have a nice lunch today as well.

Breakfast was thick sliced bacon, scrambled eggs, and gluten free bread, toasted, with butter.

The gluten free experiment is working out well enough that I think I can say that I am gluten intolerant. Whether it is late life development of Celiac disease remains to be seen.

For now, I'm trying to avoid gluten entirely and maybe we'll see in a while if I can take it in small quantities without too much digestive distress. I baked up the last eight frozen southern biscuits yesterday and, after cooling, gave them to the birds outside. I haven't yet made any gluten free biscuits from the mix I bought, or tried to do it from scratch, but that will come.

    Well, back to work.
