Hello, the ice we received did not melt until mid-afternoon yesterday so I spent the day indoors. Always the same things it seems but right now, too many good things to do. Today, there are a number of special event classes on Zoom for heart health. Wear red day. Should be fun.
Sandy, glad you like what Bryanna did with your hair. 👍🏻🫶🏻👍🏻 And so happy you have been able to visit with her a number of times.
Jackie, progress on the house repairs. Yippee. Best wishes for Betty’s good health. I heard from a friend who was told his dog could not be treated and should be put down. He went to a different vet and they decided to try a couple of things. I think it was some kind of Chinese herbs and a different food. Anyway, it has been 6 months and so far the changes have worked. His dog isn’t healed but is doing pretty good.
Barbie, you are working with some very kind people. ❤️
I hope Anne is healing and will be out of that heavy cast quickly.
Well, back to my day. Take care.

Happy Friday!
Almost done with laundry. Today is my last day of seeing Bryanna, they leave tomorrow. We are going to Rob's this afternoon to spend some time together but she wants to be home by 7 or so to spend time with her mom and sister as well.
We are expecting bad weather tomorrow so I hope they aren't delayed.
Have a good day and stay healthy, I still have a cough from Covid and it is annoying.

It has been a bitterly cold day but I needed groceries so drove early into town to stock up. The roofer messaged to tell me he would arrive once he had seen his GP and did so soon after I returned home. He suffers with asthma so the cold air was affecting his breathing but he finished the work and also climbed his ladder on the other side of my property to check where I thought another problem might exist, then adjusted guttering on a side wall that wasn’t draining properly. All in all a very thorough job that I was happy to pay for. I took George round the block and he practically ran all the way with me jogging alongside! I’m sure it was the cold that did it but had to laugh as we did the circuit in record time! Betty didn’t look at all well early on so I was considering returning to the vet but as the day progressed she eat some food, then with the fire in the dining room lit, she curled up in her bed and slept. I think I see a pattern of her struggling soon after her B12 injection before rallying and tonight she appears more cheerful.
I think Anne has just under 4 more weeks wearing the plaster, so long as the foot bones have repaired. I will report back as soon as I hear.
Gorgeous teapot Lin. A real WOW from me!
I’m sorry you are still coughing Sandy. Stay home in the warm if the weather is bad.
Bedtime for me. 🥱😴

Happy Saturday!
We are expecting snow and ice but we will see how much and if I go to Church today or tomorrow. It was sad saying good bye to Bryanna but the good news is she and Spencer are coming to the reunion in July. Tomorrow weather permitting, we are taking Sister Maria out for an early dinner.
Babe's niece is going with us but we plan to be home early for the Superbowl.
Jackie, sorry about your cold weather, I really hate it but Spring is around the corner. Glad George had such a good time but at least Betty knows when she should rest after a vaccine. I bet Anne can't wait to get rid of that extra weight on her foot. She is so lucky to have such great sons, especially Michael.
Lin, you are so amazing with all your classes and card making. You do keep yourself busy.
Have a good day all and stay warm.

Hello friends. It has been a cold windy day but so far, we haven’t received any freezing rain. The next week is a series of winter storms according to the forecast I heard today.
Sandy, glad Byranna will return in July for the reunion.
Hope everyone is doing okay.
Anyone watching the Super Bowl game tomorrow, I hope it is enjoyable.

Happy Sunday!
Taking our nun friend out for dinner at 3 and then home to maybe watch the Superbowl or at least check on the scores for my pools.
Lin, we are getting your weather as well this week. I just hope we don't get a lot of snow Wednesday as I am sitting. I have to try to make an appointment for my drivers test but they fill up so fast it is incredible. I have until March 10 but would like to get it over with asap.
Have a good day and stay warm.

Happy Sunday. It has been a quiet day for me. George was walked on the moors but although it was sunny, there was a cold wind so I only stayed about half an hour. I saw David as I arrived and he had already walked so we had a quick discussion to plan meeting on Tuesday morning to drive to a small town about 10 miles away where a recommended car tyres garage is. I think my car needs a new set on the front and he wants to check them out for future tyres. I had hoped to meet up in a town which is on the way but he wants me to collect him from his home which means driving that awful track again! He is a nice man but needy at times. Both his landline and mobile phone are not working so I hope nothing crops up before then.
Betty still has terrible diarrhoea so I bought a bag of frozen white fish for her and was pleased she did eat some. Now I wait to see what the effect is! I spent a couple of hours in my garden until it became chilly and hope to do more pruning tomorrow.
I hope Sandy and Lin avoid heavy snow. I watched a YouTube video of a storm of record breaking amounts of snow and freezing temperatures in Japan. Wow, I don’t think I have anything to complain about!
Enjoy your Super Bowl.
Jackie 🥰

Hello, I finished all of the Valentines cards, February birthday cards and my packet of tax info to send to my accountant. It may be an expensive trip to the post office tomorrow morning. We did not receive any ice today but it stayed very cold today and the forecast remains unchanged with storms expected 3 times this week. The weather guy says the odds are that one of them may bring 5 to 7 inches of snow. We will take what we get.
I am not watching the Super Bowl, I am watching and rewatching the Puppy Bowl…..I love the doggies. So many get adopted and that is wonderful.
Also plan to watch a new episode of All Creatures Great and Small later this evening.
I attended online church and 3 cardio classes today. The only thing that I totally ignored was my day long card class yesterday and now I will have to watch the replays of everything. Live is more satisfying. Apparently I did not win any of the giveaway as I did not receive any emails from the organizers. 😃
Jackie, I am sorry that Betty is still suffering from the runs. That feels so bad. Poor darling. Well, happy tire shopping and sorry you have that darn road to tackle once again. Maybe he feels unsure of finding this shop and that’s why he wants a ride. I know there are places I just do not even try to get to due to the changes in roads, tricky intersections and other frightening things.
Sandy, I hope your dinner was enjoyable. Well, it is Snacking Sunday. I am doing that!
Take care everyone.

Happy Monday!
Won some money on Superbowl pool but I don't know how much. The girl in charge is in Vegas so we have to wait for her to get home Thursday to tell us. We had a nice dinner with Sister Maria and Babe's niece and then I went to Cheryl's to play a game and watch some of the game. I left at half time and watched the rest at home. Today my cleaning lady came and I am ready for a nap since I didn't sleep well last night. We are expecting a lot of snow Wednesday so I cancelled babysitting and told Rob to go next week instead. I really hate driving in the snow.
Lin, glad you got all your cards done and enjoyed the puppy bowl. I started back with the recumbent bike today as it has been a while since I have exercised. I haven't gone over my goal weight but it is slowly started to creep up.
Jackie, it is hard to say no to some people and you are a good friend to help David. I know he can be needy but I am sure he appreciates your kindness. Please tell Anne we are thinking of her and miss her quick wit.
Have a good day and stay warm.

Good evening. I got my expensive trip to the post office out of the way. Had a few groceries delivered and made a trip to the library to pick up a book being held for me. Some cardio classes and then on hold for a very long time to get an issue with one of my online accounts resolved. I worked on it myself. Switched to hunting through the Help function, moved on to calling in to a bot who finally just disconnected without helping me because apparently I did not neatly fit into one of the options. I finally called and when I got a live person, her way of solving it was pretty neat but it was not an option in the Help answers or a press # option. People are still much better in many cases. Still had one last little problem but I decided to take my own path and ultimately it worked. Yippee!!
We are expecting snow starting very early morning and then a break with 6 to 8 inches Wednesday and then another couple of inches over the next few days. Oh, and cold wind chill temperatures as a topping on a slap of winter.
Sandy, good idea to cancel for Wednesday if your weather forecast matches ours.
I might make soup tomorrow morning. Sounds like something yummy for a cold day.
Hope everyone is well.

I’m sorry I missed posting yesterday. After walking George, who is still enjoying having me to himself when we go out, I got a few jobs completed and phoned Sheila to catch up with any news. It seems her 2nd cataract procedure was worse than the first so she ended up in a lot of pain and can’t see to read. Her daughter sent her a pair of magnifying reading glasses and will wait for a follow up appointment with her optician next month. After our chat I called the vet practice to book an appointment to take Betty back for a steroid injection and must say since then she has been more lively. She is enjoying her fish meals so I will continue with them and I also have been given a 10 day course of steroid tablets to be given twice a day. I was warned her appetite will increase dramatically but not to give her too much to start with so after I drove to the tyre garage this morning with David I detoured to a supermarket for more fish so am stocked up! The mechanic told me I won’t need new tyres for another 2,000 miles which was good news, what with the vet bills.
Sandy, you are right about David and I think he caught me on a bad day when I was worrying about Betty. He apologised today for taking me out of my way to pick him up so I told him it is only because I don’t like driving on the roads near him. He admitted he doesn’t like them either! A funny thing happened when I dropped him back home. His mobile phone hasn't been working for a few days so I got out to call it on my iPhone so I could see what message he was getting but heard a heavy farm Land Rover pull up driven by the farmer’s wife who shouted for me to move because she was guiding a very large cow along the road and wanted to put it in the field next to David’s property. I hope they managed without me because I drove off rather than deal with an angry cow!
Gorgeous tea sets again Lin. The floral set is beautiful.
It is still cold and rather grey so I will feed the hens their afternoon corn, light a fire and enjoy a cup of tea.
I have exchanged emails with Anne and of course told her how much the sneakers miss her. She is suffering nose bleeds caused by the air in Mike’s apartment that leave her feeling fatigued and was waiting for a visit from Social Services who will hopefully have ideas to help her. I will let you know what happens once I hear more.
Take care, especially if you do get a lot of snow.

Happy Tuesday!
The sun is shining and it should be a nice day. After my mani/pedi I am going to my friends house for a lite lunch and then we will do some gambling on the slot machines. This is the thing she loves the most and since her husband died it is what keeps her busy. She can't drive so she relies on family and friends. I know she is lonely so I am trying to see her more often than before. She is always so grateful for the company.
Jackie, Betty is going to be all beefed up with big muscles after all those steroids. lol I am glad she is doing better and hope it continues. David sounds like a sweetheart that just lives around bad roads.
It must be interesting to live where you do when people are guiding big cows to the fields on your main roads. lol Poor Anne, it seems when it rains it pours in her life. Hopefully they will help her and maybe a humidifier would help but who knows.
Lin, glad you were able to get the card situation straightened out. I agree, it is easier to talk to a live person but really hard to do with all this technology.
Barbie, thinking of you.
Have to eat something and get ready. Have a good day.

God evening. It has been an overcast and very cold day. There have been numerous watches and warnings issued for the upcoming storms. The latest is a warning that removing the accumulation of snow may be very difficult so drive very carefully. All the schools have issued closure notices for tomorrow. More snow is expected after this storm passes with the forecast showing no precipitation next Tuesday. 👀
The wind is very cold as it is infiltrating my house. Brrrr. I did get in touch with my insurance agent today. My homeowners policy is up for renewal and they want the age of all elements in the house now. Also are systems the newest updated energy efficient products. They would give a discount for an integrated whole house alarm system. Do not have that. But they seemed happy to hear I have the newest HVAC system components. I also got one new endorsement to cover my house for 150% of insured value in the case of pretty much total loss. Replacement costs keep going up so it seemed liked a good idea.
I have a live new product video to watch this evening. She has teased several new products that sound very interesting. But then, when it comes to making cards, there is also something new and better…..
Sandy, it is kind of you to see your friend more often and to take her to the activity she likes the most. I hope you have plenty of supplies in case you are snowed in for a couple of days.
Jackie, good news that your tires do not need immediate replacement. 👍🏻👍🏻 I hope Betty continues to improve or at least to hold her own. Wow, I am thinking of all the fish you purchased today. I have visions of your refrigerator packed with packages of fish filets. Poor Anne, it can be very uncomfortable to live in the dry air produced by our central heating systems. We have so much flu around here, I am glad she is not in a care center right now but maybe respiratory illness is not as bad in Ontario.
Barbie, sending a big hello to you and your pups. How is Annie?
Take care everyone. Must run along.

Happy Wednesday!
The snow has begun and my son said it is slippery on the roads so I am glad I postponed with him until the 26th. I had fun with my friend but lost a little money which doesn't make me happy but she was so that is all that counts.
I am going for my drivers test Friday and will be glad to have that over and done.
Lin, I just ordered some groceries to be delivered tomorrow since they were all filled up today. I am hoping it clears up for my meeting tomorrow but if not I will be staying home. You must be getting a lot more snow than us, our schools are still open. They are saying 2 to 4 inches and 6 in other places so we will see.
Cheryl just booked our airfare for the cruise so we are all set to sail May 17th.
Stay warm and stay healthy. I hope Barbie is doing as well as can be expected.

Hello. Yes, it is snowing. It started about 9pm last night and it is still snowing now. Winter storm warning doesn’t expire until midnight. All the libraries are also closed and the plows are working hard on the main roads. Lots of accidents and stuck vehicles. A friend called me as she had to take her husband in for some follow-up tests this morning. She said she could only go a max of 30 mph and you couldn’t see where your lane was. She got to the destination safely. Thank goodness. They had several more stops before they could go home.
She had an appointment with her financial advisor (her husband won’t get involved) and they set up a plan to move their IRA to an account where the advisor can help monitor balances, change monthly withdrawals for her if asked and calculated about how many years of withdrawals are remaining. Sounds like a lot of help but she doesn’t seem to know what type of fee she is paying for it. I think that would make me nervous. I sometimes wish I had an advisor.
Sandy, glad the weather isn’t horrible in your area and that you have groceries ordered. And a good attitude about staying in if necessary.
I hope everyone is okay. Watching the flakes, they are huge!

Great morning for me. The sky was clear and the roads were dry. I got to my appointment for my drivers license renewal a few minutes early, there was no waiting, the staff was friendly and kind, no written test, just the eye test. I found out that I didn't really need the enhanced license since I had a passport so I saved the extra money. I had all the documents, just in case. I am now licensed to drive until 2033, I also found out that in Washington when a death certificate is issued, notice is sent to the Department of Licensing and voter registration. Pretty smart.
I seem to be able to do only one stressful thing each day. After that, I watch TV and ride my exercise bike and knit for the rest of the day. I walk both alone and with the dogs.
Barbie

Good for you Barbie. I also have to have an eye and driving test. I believe my license will only be good for two years as I am going to be 83 in March.
One stressful thing a day is enough for anyone but harder after losing your loved one. You are doing amazing, one day at a time.

A lovely sunny day but unfortunately, having left laundry washed overnight hanging out to dry while I walked George, gardeners working in a neighbour’s garden lit a smoky bonfire so as soon as I got home I had to take it all in to hang on an airer. I couldn’t work in my garden because it was so bad and did have a word but no apology was forthcoming! Last night I had a call from an upset David because soon after I had dropped him home an ambulance arrived because a friend who lives 100 miles away had been terribly worried and thought he might have fallen. Neither his landline or mobile were working so she wasn’t getting a reply to her many calls. It was as well we weren’t still out visiting the tyre garage because they might have knocked down his door but instead were very good about the call out saying it was as well his friend had contacted them. An engineer arrived to repair the landline but he had a stressful discussion with the phone company who appeared to have been overcharging him so I’ve been looking online for an alternative service so he can cancel that contract. We are all so dependent on the internet but he struggles with it and gets stressed as I’m sure many do.
The bonfire smoke finally faded after lunch and I managed a few outdoor jobs.
Betty had another good day and her tummy does seem more settled so hopefully tomorrow she will have her final B12 injection and I will do my best to build up her strength. The steroids are certainly giving her a boost!
Gone midnight so we must all get to bed.
Stay warm and safe.
Jackie 🥰1 -
Happy Thursday!
The snow has stopped, the roads are clear so I am going to my meeting. I hope all the snow melts before my driving test tomorrow.
Jackie, sorry about the smoke, I hope it didn't linger on your clothes. Poor David, but at least he knows that someone was looking out for him in case of a real emergency. Glad he was home and they didn't have to smash in his door. I hope you can help him with a cell phone. How old is David?
Betty sounds like she is improving so that is a good sign.
Lin, I do hope the snow has stopped by you. I think we are getting more over the weekend but I hope not enough to stop any of my plans. I want to go to hear my son talk at his meeting Sunday and then we are all going to the movies to see a movie the kids want to see. Saturday I would like to go to 5:00 Mass so praying the weather cooperates.
Have a good day.

Sandy, I was concerned about my appointment to renew my driver's license in part because if the place was crowded or the process was long, it would be hard for Annie to wait in the car. Since they asked me come in (standard practice if you're over 70), I had no idea what the process might entail. I was delighted that there was no line, no test, and nothing time consuming. I was astonished when she asked me if wanted to renew for six or eight years.
Jackie, I'm thinking good thoughts for Betty. Hope she's eating and feeling better soon.
Lin, I admire all your cards and online learning.

Barbie, you are lucky you are still young. I used to be able to renew my license online but once 80 they said I had to come in and take a drivers test every two years. I know how to drive it just makes me nervous when I know I am being graded for every little thing.
Sandy0 -
Good evening. Sandy, we cannot have extended drivers license renewals here either. It is all age based and I will have to check one of these days. We have to go in person and I think 5 years is the max.
Barbie, I am glad you had such a pleasant experience. That is rare here. In fact, it may be non existent.
Jackie, I am sorry to hear of that miserable smoke. But glad to hear Betty is doing okay. ❤️❤️
I spoke with a friend for too long this afternoon. I think we verged to many unhappy topics. I need to try to send her a happy note.
Take care everyone.

It’s cold and wet after a couple of dry weeks but at least we had a break.
Yesterday evening I took Betty into the vet for her B12 shot and consultation. She was pleased to hear Betty is more active and her tummy back to normal but has advised me to try to re-introduce the special hypoallergenic food with its protein and even cranberry, pomegranate and green tea extracts! She is terribly thin so feels the cold, but I’ve bought her a new waterproof coat with a fleece liner for when she starts walking again. I’m to continue the steroids for a couple of weeks and the vet also gave me a pack of probiotic capsules so all that fish in my freezer might soon be offered to Brady!
Thank you Barbie for your good thoughts for Betty. Looks like they are working! I think I will have to prove my ability to drive when I’m 80. At the moment we renew with a tick box application although Opticians and doctors have the power to remove a driving licence if deemed necessary.
Sandy, David is a year older than me, so 77. He is very private, reserved and apparently had bad experiences in the past with rude neighbours so tends to isolate himself but I can see he is beginning to realise that brings added problems as he gets older. I only get snippets of stories about his past but don’t pry. The next time I drive to his cottage I will take a photo of the roads so you can see why I hate the journey!
Has your snow melted Lin? Anne mentioned Mark visited with chocolate muffins but couldn’t stay long because a snowstorm was due and she later heard he was out clearing the drive. I have been peering at the latest tea cup, trying to work out what is going on in its bottom with something lying over the gold spoon?
Other news from Anne is that a daily morning visit from a carer has been arranged and so far so good! Jilly is behaving herself but one lady was wary to begin with until The Bean charmed her!
George didn’t want to walk this morning but did visit the garden with me when I checked the hens were ok. He and Betty are now snoozing by the fire while I Google search a new wrist watch after knocking the one I’m wearing. It seems the shock was too much for it, but it was cheap because it’s something I do quite often!
Take care everyone.
Jackie 🥰

I don't know if there are any special driver's license issues after age 80 in Washington. It just said that over 70 you have to come into the office and can't renew online.

Happy Friday!
The sun is shining, the laundry is started and hopefully today is the day I pass my driving test for the next two years. I am not worried about driving, I am more worried about the vision test with my macular. I will wear my distance glasses for the test so hopefully all my worries are for nothing. Will let you know later.
Have a good day,

Some of our snow disappeared but we are getting more now.
Anne said today is Jilly’s birthday. ❤️❤️
And I hope you are able to coax Betty on to that special food.

Happy Saturday!
Thank you for your congratulations, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.
We had more snow during the night and more coming later. I am hoping to be able to go to Church later and tomorrow to hear my son speak at his meeting, We are going to a movie early afternoon with the kids so I hope the weather cooperates. I really can't wait for summer or at least our cruise in May.
Lin, you sure keep busy with all your card making. Happy Birthday to Jilly, how is Anne doing?
Jackie, seeing as I am the eldest besides Anne, you all have time before your 80's. They are not so bad as long as you keep moving and stay active. Has David ever been married as far as you know? I am glad Betty is getting stronger and hope she will be ready for the moors again soon or at least around the block.
Barbie, how are you doing? Good and bad days?
Enjoy your day.
