Pot Bellied Stove / Water Cooler

Hello Hello! It is good to find the water cooler again. I have been absent for so long I had all sorts of Badges pop up when I logged in. Who knew I have been here 10 years? I can no longer ignore my weight, so here I am.
I retired in January. I will continue to help when needed and will help during harvest; I will attempt to set a reasonable schedule. We will see. I have a tendency to work until the work is done. UGH. Anyway, I put on a few pounds since retiring … on top of the weight gain I previously ignored. Double UGH.
I just got back from Peru. Visiting Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lago Titcaca. I am going out of my comfort zone and sharing a picture of my chubby self at Machu Picchu. Maybe it will motivate me to stay on track.
My health goal is to heal my insulin resistance. My dear friend Linda, who I travelled with to Peru, and I have vowed to lose 30# before traveling to Greece in October.
I look forward to catching up with you Tammy and Debora and anyone else who pops in. I miss Sheryl. What a beautiful soul.
Take care and God bless,
~Sue (stacke)

Sue, how nice to have you drop in and sit awhile. You are seeing a lot of the world. Sees like adding a few pounds has happened to a lot of us. I miss NM. It's so much easier to put it on than take it off. And I enjoy desserts and all things chocolate.
Retired - that gives you the time to do all the travel. Are you just sightseeing? How do you decide where to go next? I like staying close to home but always enjoy hearing about other's travels. One granddaughter and her mom were in Italy in March for granddaughter's senior trip with her class. They enjoyed it.
How do you heal insulin resistance. Linda and you can encourage each other and we'll celebrate with you too as you work toward your goal.
We were in Hesston recently and drove past the coffee shop you and I met at years ago - good memories. Debora

Hello again Sue, I love the pictures and as Debora has said we all have put on those pesky pounds that we all want to get rid of. Sorry Debora for not getting back with you sooner but I have been still exercising and logging all the food that I'm eating. Your trip to Florence sounds like you had a real nice time, then a graduation party not having to cook that is awesome.
Well as for me in the past week or so, I managed to loose that pesky 1.5 pounds but then within 3 days later here came .5 pounds back, but I'm still at it. I went to the chiropractor on May 15th, I had a different message therapist whom I really like so I scheduled my next appointment for June 3rd just so I can keep Alex.
This past Sunday night we had a real good thunderstorm I got 1.8 inches of rain and the worst of it was about 10 miles south where 2 tornado's touched down.
Well need to go ladies, got to go feed my kitties the daddy cat and his 2 daughters.
Take Care & GOD Bless

Hello Debora, good to "see"you again! My son moved to Iowa nearly ten years ago. I miss my trips to KS. I am tickled we had the chance to meet in Hesston. Yes, my travels are sight seeing. Such a big beautiful world. But there are also so many beautiful and exciting places to visit in the US.
1.8" is a lot of rain Tammy. That would cause erosion in our corner of the world. We don't get tornados here in the PNW. Not enough open space for the wind to pick up speed, I guess. Thank goodness for the Rocky mountains.
How to heal insulin resistance? I am open to suggestions and info you come across. From my research, doing the things I should be doing, eliminating simple carbs (ice cream is my kryptonite), increasing fiber and complex carbs (veggies and whole grains), exercise daily, not sitting more than 45 minutes at a stretch, quality sleep, reduce stress … you know the drill. I want to say good-bye to my mid-section Micheline Tire.
My mother had high cholesterol. My doc recently put me on a med that made me drowsy while driving, so I quit taking it after a three month trial. I just read "A Statin Free Life" by Dr. Aseem Malhotra. He claims all of the above for correcting cholesterol levels. His recipes are "Indian" heavy in legumes and tomatoes. I am allergic to tomatoes, UGH. Just leave those pesky buggers out. Anyway, two of my three brothers are on statins. There is a thing called Familial Hylerlipidemia (FH), which statins may have a slight chance of helping. I will talk to my doctor about FH when I see him in the fall. I am hoping I can move my Triglyceride and HDL numbers by doing the things I should be doing to heal my insulin resistance. I WILL do it. I do not want to take medication if it can be avoided. The issue, as always is continuing the pattern of behaviors for the long term.
It is a beautiful sunshiny day here on the Camas Prairie, but it is 57 degrees, so a bit chilly. The winter canola is blooming, painting the prairie in beautiful swaths of yellow.
Time to get something done for the day. We recently had a Murphy bed installed in my sewing room while I was in Peru. Now to organize the furniture for sewing . :) Hugs. ~S

My bra feels tight today … TMI.
I think I might be allergic to sardines. I have a lot of allergies. I have eaten sardines the past two days and have been itchy, redness and hives last night. UGH. I just stocked up on Sardines at Costco because the Wild Planet sardines were $3 off a box. SIGH. I will try again in a couple of weeks and if I react again I will be making a return to Costco.
Yesterday, I decided to find the Fitbit I received as a gift a few years ago. In the search process, I ended up organizing the dresser where I found the Fitbit and the cabinets in the bathroom where I found the charger. Win-win. I wonder what else I need to look for to get more organizing done?
It is a beautiful sunshiny day here today. Have a lovely day!

Good Morning,
Well I step on the scale this morning and I'm up by 1.5 pounds, even with watching what I'm eating and keeping close to my calorie allotment. I noticed that my sodium count has been rather high so maybe that's my problem. Sometime this get's so frustrating up and down like a yo yo, however, I am determine to keep at it. Today is going to be a high of 97 with a heat index of 105.
Congrats on finding what you where looking for and getting some organizing done as well. I need to do the same thing, I been wanting to go looking for the Heart Monitor and strap that I go from Granny way back when. I have a general Idea of where it's at but I'll need to do some organizing just to find it. Maybe someday, I'm a procrastinator so it takes me longer to get that kind of stuff done.
Take care

I was up 2.4# on the scale this morning. But I did eat quite a few salty nuts yesterday. I managed to stay within my calorie budget for the day. Was the scale down for you today Tammy?
Our son and DIL invited us to join them for a side by side ride into a very remote place on the Salmon River yesterday; reachable only by jet boat or the road we traversed. The hubs and I have never been to Mackay Bar before and have always wanted to visit. It was a full day commitment. We left home at 6 am driving 2 1/2 hours into the mountains to where our son was camping. The ride started around 10 am. We ran into some snow. Had lunch in the woods. I ate half of the salad I packed for myself before I knocked it off the tailgate and it landed upside down in the dirt. Hence the additional salty nuts. We got to the Salmon River around 3:30 pm. We got back to the camp site around 7:30 pm and home at 10 pm. We capped the day off with our dear friends enjoying the Pisco I brought back from Peru. It was a beautiful sunshiny day.
Today I am cleaning the house … but I will hopefully get out to enjoy the sunshine too.
Hugs, ~S

OMG, that is one beautiful mountain side, love the pics. It sounds like you had a great time and it really sucks that your salad ended up on the ground.
Let's see I've dropped down .5 lb so I'm working hard to get back down to that 145.5 and then work on continuing to loose till I get to my goal. Slow and Steady till I reach my goal.
We got 3.5" of rain within a 24 hr. period. Today is a really nice 79 degree, with no rain in site for least a couple of days.
Have a great day and talk later. God Bless

We are hoping for rain. My son cut some hay down trying to entice the rain. Ha! It is windy. Nearly 80F yesterday and today. But the sun is shining. <3
I am on my way to Spokane with four girlfriends to see River Dance. We had a plan to eat at Chili's so I looked at the menu and decided on an entree and pre-logged it. NOW, with our tickets, there is a special at another restaurant, so plans may change. I printed the menu for my passengers to peruse on the way to Spokane. I found something on the menu that will work … depending on seasonal veg options.
I imagine the scale will be up tomorrow morning from increased sodium from eating out. Lower water intake because of the road trip. Sigh. Onward and Upward!

Oh wow, looks I've been missing out on a lot but not dropping in sooner.
Sue, interesting to be allergic to sardines. That's one food I've never eaten much off. Looks like the remote place on the Salmon river was worth it from your pictures. Fun to go out with some friends. Make sure you eat something.
Tammy, glad you continue to walk and exercise. Those ups and downs keep happening to all of us.
I kind of jump around in the same five pound range but I like my sweets too well. Monday, my older siter and I traveled to visit our oldest sister - day trip even though it's 4 hours each way. With two drivers it's not too bad. We worked a couple of puzzles and visited. It was fun. On the way home we drove in rain most of the way. While the days are longer we are going to try and go once a month. This morning was Bible study and one member brought cookies and several fruits and almonds and pistachios for us to enjoy. It's fun to start off Bible study that way - usually just do it for birthdays. But now I'm going to skip the sandwich this evening and just do a salad. Tomorrow is errand day. Next week is our Community Bible School and I will be in the nursery each morning which if for teachers with young kids. The two of working will have two to watch so sound doable. We got more rain the last couple of days too. It's all needed so not complaints. Hubby is the one who gets to contend with the mud when he takes care of his chickens. Take care and I'll pop in more often to keep up with the two of you.

Debora, you are a busy gal! Sounds.like a fun road trip to see your sister. I like a good road trip.
We're road tripping to the hubs sister's home today. A four hour drive. Each year she and her husband host a potluck singing and drinking party. All of the cousins, and there are a a lot of them, are invited. One musician cousin brings folders of music and percussion instruments for the masses. Lots of fun songs. I am not a drinker or a singer but it is a fun time and good opportunity to connect with the cousin.
We will bing our two Boise grandkids home with us for the week. Amelia is 7 and Oliver is 6. It will be fun having them without their parents. :) They are city kids spending a week on the farm. I called this morning and told them to pack work clothes because they will be going with Grandpa to swath hay.
Still no rain here. Feel free to send some!

Sue, You're doing the same distance gong to your sister-om-law's. Always nice to get together with family. With traveling that far, what food are you taking. Interesting that everyone helps with the music.
How fun to bring grandkids home. That age enjoys most everything. Hope their version of work clothes is suitable for swathing. I will be keeping 4 grandkids during our Bible School week - 5,9, 10, and 13. They will go back home on Monday since I have 4-H in the evening but will be here Tuesday - Friday. Nothing exciting planned so far. Will get the legos out, have the beads for making necklaces and things like that.
Right now I'm baking the dinner rolls for tomorrow. Getting close to being done for the have tos for the day.

Good Sunday Morning Ladies, you both have been busy with visiting family members plus making memories with friends. All my family live in Florida so I don't see them hardly at all and my hubby's family has already pasted and his nieces and nephew have their own lives and don't keep in touch. We have 3 inside cats so we don't take any real trips, every now and then we may make a day trip but it's been 9 mos since we went on one. We took a 6 hour trip to go see my donkey at the Donkey Rescue in San Angelo. I had to give him up last year, I sure do miss him but I know that he is being taking care of much better.
We have no kids so we have no grand kids to enjoy, so you two are very blessed and I am blessed to be able to hear all about them.
Well I've got to go for now, I'm heading to the store.
God Bless and take care.

Hello Ladies, Good to hear from you.
Tammy, I love that you got to see your Donkey. What is his name? I imagine that was very sad to have to give him up. My side of the family doesn't gather, maybe once a year at most. The hubs is the oldest of eight. His side of the family really enjoys each other and have a lot of fun when they get together. My SIL, wearing red in the picture and her hubby love socializing and host fun get togethers.
Debora, what 4-H project(s) do you lead? My kids got a lot out of 4-H. They traveled to Atlanta for National 4-H Congress and WA DC for WA Focus. I hope my grandkids take advantage of the opportunities. They have Market Pig and Poultry (duck) projects this year.
The party was super fun. We ended up staying until 10 pm. I did very well with my eating plan until I ate a piece of Honeycomb Candy and that started a binge. It was silly. I certainly wasn't hungry. When I logged it all, I was 500 calories over my calorie budget which put me in my RMR calorie allotment, so not so bad but my inner critic berated me for it. The scale was up 2# this morning from when I weighed two days ago. Quite thankful I didn't have an opportunity to weigh yesterday morning.
I took a dill pickle pasta salad. It sounds weird, but is yummy, always well received and easy. It traveled in a cooler easy too.
We got home in time to take the kids to Lilo at Stitch at the movie theater with their cousins. The grands were sound asleep in the car when we got home, so no bed time quarrels or tears. :) I didn't realize this is their first extended sleep over trip away from home. All well so far.
Better get on with the day. Hugs, ~S

I am working today. Filling in. The office clerk and manager are out of town today, so I am filling in. The grands are going with me until the hubs picks them up after his dentist appointment.
I have been stress eating a bit. I am out of my normal routine with the grandkids. They are absolutely not causing any problems, just all of the energy. Whew.
