    That is gorgeous, Nic.

I'm writing this message looking through my new right-eye lens. So far vision isn't quite what I'm hoping for - but it may come - and if it doesn't the surgeon said she can make it come with laser come fall.
But the surgery was smooth and the recovery uneventful so far! Woohoo.
So nice to come and read everyone's updates.
I'm so ready for Newfoundland quiet with my grandson. And an ocean breeze. And green green grass and even the stinging nettles :)

Went to see Dogma tonight in theaters (25th anniversary showing) and I had forgotten how incredibly amazing that movie was. I mean, I knew it was great, which is why I invited the husband to go see it with me, but I laughed so hard and just enjoyed it so much.

Oh I want to see it too, Nic! I hope I haven't missed it here with the chaos of the last week…

Vision is getting better - think it is going to be exactly what I want. Am having MUCH trouble with MFP - first time I've been able to get here, to our group, in awhile. :(

Hey all, glad to hear your surgery went so well Laurie! Helps calm my nerves somewhat.

I can relate to the 'what can I get done before surgery' hustle as my first eye op is in a couple of hours and I'm about to put fresh sheets in the bed. My 2nd op is in 2 weeks, and my brother is having his wedding ceremony in my living room 3 days after that, so no renos but lots of furniture rearranging, cleaning and gardening happened around here!

Waiting for pics of this alcove vs hallway you were planning to fo in an evening...I am in awe of what you tackle.

I am intrigued by what Creamtea posted about a team to tackle weightloss - please do pass on any tips you pick up, or anything you would like to share.

I am doing the maintenance vs weightloss seesaw these days, too many vacations (sigh, I know, poor me) and now the surgeries and wedding - but come July, I will try to be more focused on losing vs battling to maintain.

PAV it is crazy how the 'cheap flights pack in the charges, eh? Just booked our flight home from Australia in October as Air Canada actually had a seat sale specifically for flights to/from Australia!! And was genuinely minimum $500 each cheaper than other options, plus is a direct flight.

Copenhagen sounds wonderful, when we return to that part of Europe we plan to start our Norwegian road trip in Denmark as the cruise ship skipped it.

My condolences Nic, next time has to be better…just look at your lovely new tattoo to take your mind off of oh anything.

Glad surgery went well Laurie & hope yours has gone okay @BCLadybug888…

Rubbisny day at work… so, so busy! Ended up chair shaped stooping over laptop! Knackered. Mutt & I went for good run after & spent evening using up old bananas to make some “healthy” snacks…unfortunately ate quite a bit of it!

Off to bath & bed …. round 2 tomorrow, but with armour ready - prelogged foods ready to go! Fresh berries & yoghurt. Leftovers - beef casserole, tomato & bean soup defrosting nicely!

Small town Ohio in Amish country. Followed a horse and buggy today. Slow going but lovely.

Mr.PAV - the buggy was hitched to a fine brown horse. 🐴. Driven by a lady in a bonnet with her three small kids We were in a car 🚘 behind and had to patiently wait for a passing zone.
    But it was fun. 🤩

So beautiful! Waterloo area near here has are large Mennonite population - some days (usually Sundays) I have seen countless - honestly! - families travelling by horse and buggy - I count to 20 … then lose track since I'm usually driving past.

Vision is still inconsistent - but not bad - just waiting - hoping :)

    Will post pictures.

My garden is a disaster. Wrong time of year to get cataract surgery! Weeds grow in a blink. And I'm off to Newfoundland next week. New housemate (moving in this weekend) will have a jungle in the backyard. But. I will be able to trim the grapes tomorrow :) After the eye experiences I've had the past few years - I'm waiting a good while before I do any bendy bendy activities or lifting weight of any merit. Go weeds go! (doggy do do I'll have to recruite someone to tackle before I leave).

You are close, Yooly! I can almost see you :) Do you see me waiving? My pup came from Ohio. She says hi, too.

Just realized I didn't take pictures of my "fully" finished new doorway. New housemate has already started painting the walls of one side a pretty intense green - wish I had taken pics sooner. So here is that doorway. Doesn't look like much but it was a big job - so VERY much garbage came out of the spot. And it is a weight bearing wall so had to do some fancy work :)

And here is the little alcove area - not really private yet with all the windows - I'll figure out how to deal with that when I get home.
REALLY intrudes on my space though - especially since I now have my old housemates piano for awhile. 😂 But I kinda like it here. I'm fond of him and a big fan of his music so it like it is still here blessing the house :)

I have no real concept of the space yet but my first reaction to the pictures was identical to yakky's: gorgeous / beautiful

I love French doors, I have them separating the kitchen/family room from the living room/dining room. Mine look quite similar.

Like Pav, my conceptualizing needs some more hints - where was/is the hallway? Where is the new door from/to? Great work by the way, truly lovely.

Yooly, you must be enjoying the cooler climate, looks very green (like here). No Amish hereabouts though. There are tons of Mennonites farming in the valley, but not the horse & buggy kind. 😄

My cataract surgery went great! But I keep forgetting about bending over until I am doing it, then I freak out and straighten up. Sure as heck don't want to create a problem. Our vision is so precious.

So, before the surgery I couldn't really fathom why it was necessary, as I felt my vision was fine but now that one eye is done, everything from that eye is brighter and blue/whiter…it's like the difference in daylight bulbs vs warm lighting, and I will have to now admit that those colours I thought were more greenish than blue, and peach vs pink were not lol. My sharpness is not all that different but colours definitely are! It's like a sheer curtain from a smoker's house is hanging in front of the other eye. Looking forward to having them both done - and the surgeon said the vision will continue to improve for 6 weeks or so. Sure hope the other eye comes through as well as the first one has so far!

Laurie - I have been dusting everywhere lol!

Great news, Cosmo :) (aka BCLadybug) - the colour/brightness difference is mind boggling !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not enough exclamation points in the world to explain that difference. :)

I'm inspired to draw a bit of a floor plan - the pictures really don't make sense otherwise :) I had a technician come to reinstall internet - and he enjoyed the maze like magic (his words!) and the away from the inner city green jungle outside. A man after my heart for sure :)

    @BCLadybug888 - such good news!

I think I will be needing one too! I keep commenting on how the colors are looking somewhat muted!!!! :(

That's some reconfiguring there… and much more well done that whatever it is that I did at my basement years ago.

Thanks for the floorplan Laurie, I get it now. That must've been one large room before on housemate's side - you really have the house split down the middle, save for kitchen and bathroom. Very equitable of you 😂

  • lauriekallis
    lauriekallis Posts: 5,269 Member

The house was pretty well split up like that before. I just added the doorway between the two rooms on the housemate's side - and the vestibule giving them access to the kitchen/bath area without entering my space :)
