What Have You Done Today That Is Healthy

65° this morning, so Dave and I went for a 2 1/2 mile walk. I'm trying to increase my fiber, so I made oatmeal with cinnamon, a 1/2 oz of walnuts and the 4 blackberries I picked on my way back to the driveway. (8g of fiber in total.) The blackberries didn't last and the oatmeal tasted so bland without the drizzle of pure maple syrup I usually have. Then I remembered I have dates, so I cut up one of those to add to the rest of my oatmeal for a little sweetness and another gram of fiber. Not the same as maple syrup, but an improvement.
Had a "friend" join me while I was eating on the deck

This morning was perfect walking weather. There was partial cloud cover, but not threatening rain. Temps in the mid 70s with low humidity. I really wanted to keep walking, but I didn't want to be gone from the house.

I've gotten 7,000 steps the last two days. That's my new target after I read this:

I had a friend when we lived in Hickory. Her doctor suggested that she take a walk every day to help with her depression. Getting out and maybe talking to someone else helped her. She was my chatting over the fence buddy!
I wish I could walk right now. I get about 400 steps and am exhausted and my back starts hurting and I start to struggle to catch my breath - ugh! I think tomorrow I am going to attempt our driveway. It's about 800 steps for one round. If I can make it from my porch, down to the road, then back up to just before the shed and then back to the porch again, that should be 1200 steps. We'll see. I just want to see if being outside and having a long straight stretch makes a difference from all those corners I have to take.

Praying for you, Kim, that you'll be able to do the walking you need and that the straight stretch makes a difference

I'm still maintaining very little added sugar in my diet. Took an evening walk because I didn't make time for one this morning.

I took a short walk today, but at least it was a walk. Bill went to church with me today (the weather was incredible) and believe me that is extra exercise! There's a steep incline to get him into the church and it's everything I can do to get him up that hill, then when we leave I have to pull back on the chair so it doesn't head down that hill on its own....could wind up in a pickle that way! Stayed in my calories, but a bit more sugar than normal.

Oh my, that must be fun with that hill, Connie! I think you must be quite strong!
Wade and I went out today. It was his birthday yesterday and he wanted to go to Sam's Club which is an hour and a half away. We ate at Cracker Barrel and I had the Sirloin Steak cubes with scrambled eggs and a few fried apples, maybe 1/4 of what they gave me, I also have one bite of hash brown casserole. Then we walked around Sam's, although I was pretty tired by the time we got done. I have 2,589 steps so far today so I think walking outside shouldn't be a problem! LOL! I was in quite a bit of pain yesterday, but it was more under control today, and I didn't want to disappoint Wade! I so often have to tell him that I don't feel up to going out - can't do that for something he's been looking forward to - and I praise the Lord that He gave me the strength to do that today! Definitely all Him.

I was thinking the same thing about your strength Connie - both physically and emotionally.
Kim, I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years. Congrats on all the steps!
I went to my exercise class last night. My attendance is hit or miss when I'm working, but I try to go every Monday night when I'm home. I'm glad it's drop-in and only $10. And she starts every class off with a devotion. Last night there were just 2 of us in class - so 3 total. It felt almost like a private lesson.
Still feeling that weird feeling at the edges of my hands and sometimes my toes. And yesterday my pinky finger on the right side was weak. I think peripheral neuropathy is a real contender. I had my blood work done on Monday and I see my doctor on Thursday. Thank you for your continued prayers - I really appreciate it.

Wow, I ended up with 1.3 miles yesterday. I was beat when I got home, but the pain was manageable. I might see how it feels outside after I'm done here and try and get some laps in.

I got my walk in this morning before it got too hot. I'm almost at my target for the day. I just finished lunch… tuna salad (with celery, onions and olive oil mayo) on gf multi grain bread, 1/2 a small avocado with Everything but the Bagel seasoning and celery sticks with hummus.

Oh, I love hummus! I've tried to make it from some other bean but chick pea, but it just doesn't work. Maybe after not eating it for awhile I can eat it again and it won't give me a migraine. Your sandwich looks yummy! I had turkey and cherries for lunch. Dinner will be grapes, yogurt and granola. I'll do a Chomp and some stick pretzels for my evening snack.

I bought some cherries to snack on. I keep forgetting that they're in my 'fridge. I also bought some cinnamon pistachios that are really yummy and there's no added sugar - just whatever sugar is present in pistachios (<3g in 1/4 cup)

I did get a short walk this evening. I was afraid to leave the house this morning because Bill was supposed to have a nurse visit, but she wound up at an emergency. The office was supposed to cancel and I fell through the cracks. She called as soon as she found out the call hadn't been made. lost another pound. I will get this weight off!

Oatmeal with walnuts, blackberries and a teaspoon of date sugar for breakfast. I'm hoping to get a walk in later today - it's been raining for a couple of hours

Y'all are doing great! I ended up having a Reuben for dinner rather than my yogurt with grapes and granola. We had some pastrami left and Wade asked if I wanted one - oh yeah! He makes them better than any restaurant I've had them in! Today will be a better day. Coffee (decaf with a small amount of French Vanilla Creamer) and an Aussie Bite. I'll have meat and cherries for lunch (probably ham) and then the yogurt, grapes and granola for dinner! A chomp and stick pretzels with some dip for my snack. I'm at 230 this morning.

Well, no walk today. I went to see mom when the weather was cool enough for a walk, then was hurry up and wait on a piece of equipment to be delivered, then it was too hot. I will see what the temps say in an hour or so. If it has cooled down, I may still get a short walk. I was bad today….went 27 calories over my goal. I could cut back on my evening snack, but if I want it, that 27 calories won't hurt too badly.

Last night I made sure that 2.75 hours had passed between my snack (6 pm) and going to bed (8:45 pm). I read until I am sleepy which has been 12-1 am. The doctor yesterday said that I need to make sure that there isn't anything in my tummy that can come back up into my esophagus. I have my bed raised to about 35% so that shouldn't be too much of a problem, but it still backs up into the esophagus and we don't want that at all! I usually have given 1-2 hours, but he said it takes around three hours for the food to leave the stomach. Sigh, just have to go to bed a little bit later.
I'm putting on my new lymphedema wraps today, it's cool enough I won't melt having them on! I couldn't believe that the sock that came with the wrap actually fit me and was even a bit too long! So nice to have the covering under the wrap.

Good luck in your change of habits! Changed schedules always throw me for a loop for a couple days - especially ones concerning Bill.

Didn't get all my steps today, but I have gotten in 8 glasses of water the last three days.

I didn't get my full walk in today, but I did get a short one. It was so hot and muggy that I just couldn't make the entire route. That's better than no walk at all. I realized the other night after waking up with bad back/sciatica pain for the second time this week that it only happens when I don't get my walk in the day prior. I hate those 1am pain wake ups. That has made it even more important to get those walks.

I'm flying to Camden today (well, actually flying to Philly, then driving to Camden). I'm about halfway to my step goal for today and I've had 37 oz. of water so far. (I downloaded a water tracker that reminds me on a schedule. It has helped.)

Great idea for getting your water. I have alarms set for Bill's meds, but didn't think about water reminders.
I took my whole walk today. It was storming when I went to church this morning, but by the time I got home it had quit and was starting to lighten up a bit. I got an afternoon walk and it was only 75°. Perfect walking weather.

Thanks!
No walk this morning due to storms. It has cleared, so if the temperature is still okay, I will try to get my walk in after lunch.
