Lozze - if you had said, "I dropped 5% body fat since starting NROL4W" - I'd have said, "AWESOME JOB!!" However, I don't know ANYTHING about "body fit", so I'll still say: "AWESOME JOB!!"

p.s. There are all kinds of things the BMF doesn't monitor well--like the elliptical, and the exercise bike. You have to move it to your leg, and it still never really gives full credit for calories burned on the elliptical. Strength training also--not sure it estimates the cals quite right. It loves the treadmill though! I figure it's close enough once everything averages out.

That's interesting. This is the problem with the fitbit, which is basically a pedometer, but I thought the BMF was different - I thought it took other things into account like body temperature etc. Is that not the case?

I understand why it may not be totally correct for strength training, circuit training, or interval training, but can't imagine why it would not be for the elliptical or biking. When doing the first 3, your body temperature does not generally hold at a steady enough level for it to register, but the last two it would. When I would do an hour long circuit training DVD, the BMF would only give me about 300 calories burned where the HRM would be closer to 500 calories burned. However if I walked or used the elliptical for an hour, they were both really close.

The following is a quote from Amazon's link for the Body Media: Multi-variable tracking using four sophisticated sensors; armband captures over 5000 data points, per minute, to track everything from temperature, sweat, steps, calories burned and sleep quality, every minute, of every day.

I will be happy to know my TDEE and calories burned during exercising. SOOO excited to get it.

    Lozze, that is AWESOME! congrats

Happy Wednesday everyone! I am doing my 3rd workout of the program for I believe it is still called 1A or something I have to look at the book when I get home. Does anyone want to humor me and tell me if I do the same exact workout at workout 1? Thanks!

Yep, it's the same. However, you should try to lift heavier than you did in your first workout if possible. Enjoy :)

Then, yes, Lozze, losing 5% BODY FAT PERCENTAGE in a few months is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

keep up all of your efforts....it's working!!

Jennie, I know, I don't understand why the BMF isn't very accurate for the elliptical either. But I know it's not because based on my HR (and my exertion level) I know I'm burning a lot more calories than the BMF says I am, even when the band is on my calf. For the bike, the BMF seems pretty accurate when the band is worn on the calf.

Did anyone else feel exhausted the day after they lifted weights when they first started or is it just me? I 'm not hungry, so I think I'm eating enough, I'm just tired. Any suggestions?

@Alexa The first couple of weeks I was doing the program I was EXHAUSTED--definitely in the afternoon after lifting (I lift in the morning), but also just generally exhausted. That stabilized and I felt great. Now that I've started phase 2, which is hard all over again (or, hard and NEW), I'm exhausted again. I hope it goes away soon.

    omg, MAJOR fast food binge.

After a GREAT 11-day performance, this is a CRASH-AND-BURN day.

I'm disgusted with myself....but, everything tasted VERY GOOD and now I have a VERY BAD STOMACH ACHE.

Sheesh - serves me right. Back on course tomorrow dah-links!!

    same for me

Beeps , try not to beat yourself up too bad. Although I know how you feel. :flowerforyou:

@ Beeps - Yeah, why does it have to be so hard some days? I'm totally fighting the urge to go get the M&Ms that are in the office and I don't even really care for M&Ms unless they're peanut, which they're not. Just move on and get back on track like I know you will.

@ Alexa - yes I am totally exhaused when lifting, like no energy to do anything. For me it doesn't seem to be as bad in Stage 2, but I'm still trying to get back to normal after traveling.

@alexa I have been so tired this week and no energy for doing workouts on non lifting days. I am hoping that subsides so I can get a little cardio in on those off days.

    Today's NSV: SIZE 8 Work pants. Pre-first-born size (he's 8), funny enough I'm still 15 lbs over Pre-first-born weight. I LOVE LIFTING!

This is Great! I am not sure I have ever worn a size 8! This is one of my main goals, but honestly I don't even care about what size I wear if I look hot and toned!

I ordered the Body Media for $99 from Amazon BUT only ended up paying $63. I do Swagbucks (website that pays to use their search engine and such) and by doing that I earn Amazon gift cards. I had $36 saved up after buying Melatonin and dish detergent.

I'm excited and can't wait to get it.

    Thanks Dandelion for the information.

That's a great deal! I have had my BMF for almost 2 weeks now and LOVE it!!

Congrats! I have an eight-year-old son, too... eight going on eighteen, that one.

@Amparky, hope you don't mind, I'm posting the link you posted in your feed earlier:

    http://www.oxygenmag.com/Community/Expert-Q-A/How-does-starvation-versus-eating-fewer-calories-affect-fat-loss.aspx

This is interesting--she suggests the same "cut" as the fat-loss cut in NROLW--300 cals.

My only hesitation with this is I'm never fully confident in my own accuracy in logging my cals, or in the accuracy of my BMF...and with just 300 cals there's not much wiggle room. I've been aiming for 500 cals and to give me a little buffer for error, but I'm certainly not losing steadily (well, not fast enough for my tastes!) so I dunno.

@Samntha - Awesome NSV!! To be heavier and fit is fantastic - it means you got muscles!! I honestly don't even remember what size I was before I had my first 12 years ago and I got rid of all my clothes since I couldn't fit in them forever.

I was dragging butt in my workout today! Hoping I can get my intervals in this afternoon.

samntha - that's an awesome thing!! Yay on the size 8's!!

I can't get a work-out in, today, either. Shyte. It's a BAD week. A luncheon out - fine, I'll have salad. And, my hair appointment tonight....VERY IMPORTANT to get rid of all those grey's....

My bum hurts, today, so I guess that semi-body matrix yesterday was a good add to my work-out. Hooray!!!!

    BOOM!

    Squats are my nemesis.

I just can NOT break parrellel when I add in weight. Any weight. It pisses me off so bad. I can RDL 85lbs, but am squatting a measly butt 20lbs. I *can* squat an oly bar. But you do NOT want to see my form when I do. Grrrrrrrr!!!!

Just to add something positive, my planks are getting easier. I'm still doing 2 30 sec holds instead of one 60 sec, but I think I'll be able to start increasing my time on them.

Everyone usually has one thing that they struggle with. Just keep working at it! and great job on the planks!!

Jessica - I'm the same way with the squats. It is what it is. Either way, you are working on getting your *kitten* DEEP into the hole and your body wants THAT.

austelle - congrats on finishing Stage 1! I think you'll LOVE Stage 2.

I'm bumping my calories back up, since I didn't see a loss on the scale this week. Harumph.

    Great work everyone!
I'm 1,100 calories down today. I REALLY need to eat something, but It's already 7pm and I don't know what. Suggestions?

Worked my butt off at the gym last night, and bought some new gym clothes for the occasion. I got some looks. Why do some men have to stare you down? It's very uncomfortable. I work hard to build my body and am mindful to show as little skin as possible, but damn it I'm proud of my newer better body. I walk taller, and while I dress conservative, I should be able to show off without getting stared at. (Sorry for the rant) Only one guy even has the balls to talk to me, and half the time I'm not sure if he's being friendly or hitting on me. I've been married too long to be able to tell. LOL I rocked a tank for the first time at Zumba and received a number of compliments about my upper body and the instructor said I have potential to do fitness comps If I keep working and fix my diet. Not sure about that.

Keep at it ladies. Results may vary, but you will get RESULTS. I'm only in stage 3! And I had ZERO fitness when I started in January. (I'm in a very positive frame of mind today.)

    (I hate typos)
