This is my fourth week of logging & lurking on MFP, and I'm finally in a place to introduce myself. I was diagnosed with type II four weeks ago, after I asked for some routine bloodwork. I'd been losing weight for 6 months "too easily" and was concerned that my thyroid was off (family history), but it turns out my fasting…

Hello.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 in September. I wasn't surprised. I had suspected it for months. Not to mention that it killed my grandmother when she was only 51 and my father has major problems from not being serious about managing his health. I should have known better. But I still gained weight and ignored my health. I…

So upsetting...
Yesterday I had my A1c tested. And I got the results today. I went from a 7.0 to a 6.0. I was hoping for a much bigger drop in my numbers. I am in tears. After all my work. It wasn't as low as I had hoped. I am just about ready to just shove this all and eat and live like I use too. So upset. I know I shouldn't be feeling…

Having trouble getting organized and started
I'm ashamed to say I got my diagnosis in April, and I haven't really been able to get on program with my eating and exercise yet. I was in the middle of a ton of personal life stress that just recently subsided, and now I am trying to get organized again. I've had gestational diabetes twice, so I know the "basics" of…

Vacation
Hi Everyone I'm back from vacation and I only gained 9/10 of a pound. Considering eating out 3 times a day, I'll take that as a positive number and go forward. I was able to keep all my glucose number within range also which is actually more important in the long run. I feel refreshed and ready to go.

Hi all, I've been doing wonderfully on MFP - below calorie goal each day, eat great stuff, exercising plenty, BG levels low enough to cut my Metformin in half, etc. However, I haven't lost one pound since June 26th. Could it be a tricky diabetes problem? I've read that Metformin somehow HELPS with weight lose. Is that…

Any suggestions for post surgery meals?
I'm having hernia surgery on Monday and will not be able to really cook for at least a week. My hubby, while an excellent nurse, is useless in the kitchen unless its a pizza in the toaster oven. Any suggestions to get me through until I can put a pot of soup together or throw a roast in the crockpot?
