Metformin usage
Hello everybody, after the very bad results of my blood tests last April and the check of the sugar curve, my doctor recommended the use of Metformin (to be precise, Retaform 500 mg) and basically explained to me that I need to change my diet and my way of thinking about life in general. The result is that now 15 months…

Kidneys leaking protein...
is what the doctor told me on my last visit. He didn't explain what that means, or what to do about it. He doesn't do the same thing as my previous doctors on what's supposed to be my diabetes check ups. No weigh ins, no blood pressure check, no foot check. He did tell me to keep track of my blood pressure at home until my…

Newly diabetic
Hi, all. I’m newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic and I’m having to relearn how to eat. I’m on Metformin twice a day. ChatGPT has been a huge help in figuring out which foods are going to affect me and how to make healthier choices. My goal is to get off medication in a few months, but I have a LOT of work to do. I’ve cut out…

Hi Everyone.
I have a doctors appointment this week so I had my blood work done on Friday. My A1C was 6.2%, the lowest it's been since this whole adventure with diabetes began. And for the first time, they did a glucose random and it was 4.3(110). And I'm down 13.5 pounds since January 22.. I'm not really trying to lose weight, but it…

SO SICK of gaining weight!
When I first was told my A1C level, I made some great changes and followed a diabetic diet. Losing 15-20 pounds pretty quickly… but life happened, and I stopped paying attention, so now I am back to where I started. I am trying to build the motivation to do something about it, and this week has been a good week. Lower…

blood sugar apps
Currently I keep a calendar on my desk, where I enter my weight and blood sugar during the day. I realize MFP lets you enter blood sugar, but I don't think it lets you do a time. I'd like an app that I can track my meals/foods eaten just like MFP, but also blood sugar throughout the day as I enter it, and will give me…

A1C and Freestyle libre 2.
Last Dr.'s appointment, my doctor lowered my insulin ratio. So, I thought YAY. My sensors kept acting up though. They kept losing the signal and wouldn't scan. When I called ABBOTT for help, it turns out the sensors aren't compatible with Apple Iphone 7. Something must have changed when I updated the software. Sooo, they…

does anyone here use a continuous glucose monitor?
I am going in for a blood test next week and I am wondering if they are useful for T2 diabetes, or just for T1? useful if you have gotten your blood sugar down to normal, at least some mornings every week, and are trying to keep it that way if they are bulky or uncomfortable? Are they expensive? If they are appropriate if…

frustrated and confused, how do you get ahead?
So this morning, I was amazed and delighted to test my fasting blood sugar at 124. I SO want to get down to 100. I went out to walk and throw the ball to my impatient German Shepherd before breakfast, and about 3000 steps later, came in. I tested my blood sugar before eating and it was 177. Without eating. I know exercise…

how do you get vitamin C without carbs?
I'm on a very low carb diet, and so obviously I'm not eating an orange or having a glass of juice. I just checked my vitamin C tablets, gummies, etc. Each one has 4 grams of carbs. That's a lot of carbs to me, for a tablet. I checked how much vitamin C is in a cup of spinach/arugula, or in a cucumber and it is pretty…

A1C is 14, in my 30s
I have an A1C of 14 and need help in getting it down. Any suggestions. Today I cut out bread and drink water. I've also been doing the Caroline Jordan 10 minute workout everyday, but these area low impact exercises so I'm not sure if they are doing anything. I am 30 so I think I still have some time left to improve. Is…

Hello Im Kimberly

Currently I take Metformin 3-4 times a day with Novolog for mealtime carbs on a sliding scale and Lantus for Long acting @bedtime on a sliding scale. what do you recommend for keto breads
I tried a slice of the Lewis' Bake shop 5 seed keto bread this AM with my morning egg. I gram of carbs, 40 calories, for a biggish slice. I think it is better tasting than the Sola sweet oat, but it still seemed to have a slightly peculiar taste. I think if it were eaten with something other than an egg, with more flavor…

Helloooo!
Hello there guys and ladies! My name is Amy and I live in the Middle Tennessee area. I am T2 and have been for over a year, honestly can’t remember how long. For over six months or so, I stayed at such a low A1c that I didn’t even really consider myself diabetic and so I ate whatever I wanted and did whatever I wanted…

Low Fat and Low Carb?
Hi there! I’m a total newbie and looking for some help/suggestions. In 2022, after having my gallbladder removed, I developed acute pancreatitis and had to have part of it removed. After yearly stints in the hospital afterwards, I had more surgery to remove an orphan piece of pancreas (along with my spleen). This…

Newly diagnosed earlier this month
Hi all, I was diagnosed early Jan 2025 with Type 2 diabetes and the doctor was also concerned about my high blood pressure. I'm 57 and there is no history of diabetes in the family. He didn't give me any guidance on what to do after I left his office other than change my diet and exercise regularly and recheck my blood in…

what is the difference?
Between type 2 and regular diabetes? I tested with an a1C of 10 in October 2024. Since then I've lost over 30 pounds, on a low carb, low calorie, low salt diet. I am not on any diabetes medication, the PA said she would see how I did just dieting. I have an appt in a month to get tested again. I'm obviously trying to…

Hello I’m new.
I just found out in February of this year I have T2. My doctor has been of no real help. She told me I need to go on a diabetic diet and that I was only allowed 1500-1800 calories a day. That’s it. Oh and she put me on metformi. I take two in the morning and two at night. I found this app from a group of friends. Because…

Happy Saturday
Trying to get my A1C down to 6. I'm currently at 7.4 and was just put on Farxiga. I've been T2 since 2013 and it's been a struggle for me. I was on Mounjaro for 7 months and felt fantastic, A1C was 5.3 then it messed with my pancreas so bad that I can't do any GLP meds. It's been over a year since I've been off it and now…

one day at a time...
As some of you know, I am a junk food junkie. I would rather have a bag of chips and chocolate bar than a turkey dinner. I have a hard time passing by the chip aisle in the stores. I will admit it's been hard so far, but it's getting easier. But, it is now day 3 that I haven't had any of that stuff. It never made it into…
