Elevated glucose levels after exercising
Has anyone experienced elevated glucose levels after exercising? The other morning when I woke up I measured my glucose levels immediately and it measured 140. Not great but ok. Took my meds (metformin and Farxiga) and went to the gym to lift weights. When I got back my glucose was 180. I then did my running, ran 3 miles,…

Jardiance
Good morning everyone. Hope you're all doing well. My doctor has added Jardiance to my medications. My A1C was higher this month, so she was a little worried that I was heading down a dangerous path. I am feeling kinda depressed as well, so before she changes those meds, she is going to get me into a treatment program.…

Great Dr visit today
Long story. But the important details are: Medical neglect from a certain doctor led me to not have symptoms taken seriously for some time. Woke up in early February unable to feel my toes. Yikes. My A1C was 9.2. Dang it. My husband has been diabetic for decades, so I knew what had to be done. I restarted SparkPeople…

Brittle diabetes?
I heard this phrase used a few times by a paramedic as well as other diabetics. Apparently, it's when you have diabetes caused by trauma to your pancreas. It's also been called Type 3C diabetes. The treatment is the same as type 1. I take insulin, but not a lot because my pancreas is still making a little, but my body…

Jardiance, heart and angioplasty
Hi everyone. Since taking Jardiance, my numbers have definitely improved. Also, less urges to overeat. Turns out, it was my cardiologist that recommended I take Jardiance because, as a diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, my poor old heart was at risk. In the meantime, I was scheduled for an angiogram to check…

Anyone with type 2 do intermittent fasting?
I am eating low carb and have stalled on weight loss. I was thinking of trying 16:8 IF to help with Fat/weight loss. I am going to double check with my dr to make sure it is safe. I am on metformin, don't experience hypoglycemic episodes. I also am going to cut back on my fat intake,

Type 2 and heat wave
Does anyone else have their bs # rise with the summer heat? We're in the third day of a heat wave and my numbers are horrible no matter what or how little I eat. Or am I just losing my mind?

Januvia and CGM question
Hello, I am in a nutritional ketosis program for type 2 diabetes called Virta. My lab results in the beginning of June were great so the Dr through Virta suggested I stop Januvia, I also take metformin. After I stopped my numbers went south. I was gaining weight, my fasting glucose went from 98 to the 150s. I asked the Dr…

A neat trick when you're shopping
Good morning everyone. Another month of out of control eating, weight gain and sugar highs and lows. But, I belong to a diabetes support group here in Ottawa, Ontario. We're going virtual right now so we still get to 'meet' once a month. Last month, we were talking about losing control and how to avoid those junk food…

Dealing with lows
Good morning. After years of being diabetic, it seems I may need a refresher. I when I get low reading, if it's right before my meal, I just eat my meal and test again a bit after and all is good. If it's just out of the blue when I feel the symptoms, I drink some juice and wait for it go get back up there. So, if it…

My A1C results from yesterday
I'm so excited. My A1C from yesterday's blood tests is 5.6%, technically non-diabetic. I have been exercising and watching what I eat more than ever because of chronic pancreatitis. I'm kinda hoping this is permanent and not just because my pancreas mis-behaves a lot. Just thought I'd share.

Has anyone gained weight due to changing Metformin manufacturers?
About 4 weeks before the pandemic, my pharmacy changed Metformin manufacturers. I immediately steadily gained a pound a week. The manufacturer is Sci btw. If I change pharmacies, I can get Metformin from Heritage which looks like it has similar fillers to my beloved lost Glucophage. Has anyone ever gained weight from a…

Precise measurements of food
Okay, so I'm getting diabetes burnout. When I was first diagnosed, man I weighed and measure everything that went into my mouth. As I was learning how to deal with it, and the chronic pancreatitis, my numbers kept going up, then I was put on meds. Fast forward 8 years, my numbers are kinda steady, but they're higher than…

12am and 3am low blood sugar?
I am having lows at 12am and 3am. They show up on my 14day libre. Last night I was still up at midnight and drank a bottle of glucose. I was high this morning. Has anyone else had this problem? I take the higher dose of trulicity. I am thinking a better snack at bedtime? Thanks in advance.

Suggestions on Settings for MFP Food Tracker
Hello, I have not been diagnosed, but I have been having some major symptoms that are leading me to believe that I may be pre-diabetic or type 2 diabetic. I have a Drs appointment in 3 weeks. In the meantime, I want to change some of my eating and exercise habits. Hey, if I find out I'm not diabetic, no harm, I could lose…

Cracked, dry skin on balls and heels of feet
I am applying ProFoot Heel Rescue when I get out of the shower and before putting on socks. This has stopped the cracking. It does not hurt so much, and the cracks "might" be getting better. Does anyone have experience/insight with this?

Control solution for test strips
Good morning. Not sure if I've asked this before, but here goes. My control solution expired this morning. Do we REALLY need to do a control test every time we change vials of test strips? Or, can we only do it if the vial gets damaged somehow. Thanks.

Should I change nutrition goals for Diabetes?
Hello all - I'm coming back to MyFitnessPal after a long absence, and also for the first time since my diagnosis of Diabetes Type 2. I'm updating my profile, and wondering if I should alter my daily nutrition goals - I'm concerned about the heavy percentage of calories from Carbohydrates. I'm attaching a snapshot of the…

If you use 2 types of insulin...
Have you ever mixed them up? Last night, I was injecting my long acting insulin before bed, when I realized it was my rapid acting insulin pen. I used the same dose I would have used for the long acting. So, I took a couple of glucose tablets, drank half a juice box. Then I injected my long acting and went to bed. Just in…

Could a bad carb day affect one's sugar levels for days after?
I have been on low carb diet. I overdid it three days ago with too much carbs, a first in five months. Could that explain the high sugar levels I have had in the last three days?

High sugars and mood?
Can high blood sugar effect your mood? I have been off the rails lately when it comes to my food choices, so much so, I don't share my diary because I'm just too embarrassed. But, whether it's my blood sugar or food, I get to feeling depressed. Then I have crappy food, then I feel depressed. It's a vicious circle. Another…

Dr. Bernstein on protein needs during weight los
Dr. Bernstein often warns diabetics to reduce carbs but not protein, in order to achieve weight loss without sacrificing muscle mass. He makes the point again toward the start of his July Teleseminar. (There's lots of other great info, too, including quite a bit on using insulin and yet another recommendation to use brand…

Left over insulin
I use an insulin pen for mealtime insulin and long acting insulin. They have to be replaced every 28 days and 42 days respectively. Sometimes, there is still insulin in the pen. I hate to throw it in the garbage, but I was told not to put it in my sharps container. What do you guys/gals do with the leftover insulin in your…

Extreme low yesterday and fasting today for a test
Yesterday, after a day of shopping and having lunch at the mall (all crappy choices) I didn't eat supper. During the night my blood sugars went to 1.4(25.27). I had juice and a glucose tablet. It took awhile, but my sugars finally went up and I felt it was safe to go to bed. This morning, they were a little higher than I…
