Freestyle Libre system
Good morning everyone. I have been using this system since the middle of September. The first sensor I used was completely out of whack compared to the strip. It was a free sample, so no big loss. I called the manufacturer to ask them about the difference. They said it was definitely not working right, so they sent me a…

September challenge
Hi everyone. I have joined a challenge to get 30 minutes of activity for every day in September. It is in support of the Ottawa Heart Institute. Last year, I had an angioplasty to have two stents in my right coronary artery. Just another joy in my life(lol) Anyway, I'm hoping it will help with my diabetes as well. I have…

Six small meals a day
I have been stuggling with this concept ever since I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. I am not supposed to have more than 40grams of fat per day, no more that 10 grams per meal. So here's my problem. What is a small meal? Does that mean 'snack size' meals? For anyone out there who has to follow a meal plan like…

I haven't been taking it seriously, I got it to a 10 which is still horrible but I'm ready to make the lifestyle change. I'm doing a keto very…

I am on vacation and doing some serious walking. As many of us do, I have some neuropathy in my feet. It seems I picked up a pebble and was not aware until I took my shoes off later. I think I need to get medical to take a look at this.

Got off my diabetes meds.
I started doing Carnivore/Keto on 9/11/2021. Eating under 10 g of carbs a day. My A1C in July was 9.6. When I went back in November, after 2 months eating better, it was 5.6. I was getting 65-85 readings, so my doctor got rid of 15 units of basal Insulin, and cut the dose size on the 2 pills I was on. I have continued…

Dexcom G6
Hi Everyone. I'm trying out the Dexcom G6 system. It's a free offer, and I couldn't pass up the chance. I want to see two things. 1) how it tracks my numbers 2) if I get a rash from the adhesive. I'm allergic to most adhesives, depending on where I put it. If I've had bandages somewhere before, I'm okay, but a new spot, a…

Reducing insulin dose
Good morning and Happy New Year, Before Christmas, my doctor lowered my insulin dose from 1:15 ratio to 1:20 ratio. Of course, my finger tests where a little higher, not by much, but there you go. So, my question to you all, how long do you think it would take for your body to adjust to the new dosage?

Low blood sugar and cravings.
Has anyone noticed a rise in cravings after a low blood sugar incident? If I have a reading between 4(64.8) and 2.5(40.5) I I hope I did the math right. I correct for it with juice or glucose tab, but then I always seem to want something sweet after that. Anyone else?

When to stop medications
I have been using CGM (Libre 2 week). I lost 25 pounds (in six months) and hopefully on my way to loose another 10. My glucose readings dropped (in a way in a sudden) in the last three weeks. my night and fasting readings are between 70-100. It's almost like my body was trying to figure out the new weight for a while? In…

Sorry for the TMI but...
Have you ever peed and it smells really sweet? Jardiance is supposed to help your kidneys flush out excess glucose in you blood. So, since I've been taking it, every now and again when I've eaten a little more carbs than I should, the next day, when I pee, it really smells sweet. I guess that means the Jardiance is doing…

Misinformation is the enemy, not potatoes
Honestly? A diabetic’s worst enemy is misinformation. From telling them something is OK to eat because “it doesn’t have any sugar!” when honey was used to make it (something I have personally experienced more than once) to telling people the foods they love are an “enemy” There are different reasons for someone to develop…

Does anyone else's blood sugar react worse to processed foods?
Over the summer I got a Dexcom meter, and since I now have a continuous record of my blood sugar, I've been revisiting my personal reaction to different foods. One of the trends I'm seeing is that I seem to react more to processed foods, and it looks like it might be whether or not preservatives are added. Has anyone else…
