have you decreased your Metformin dose?...c'mere please =)
I started out at 750 mg of extended release at around 150#'s. Never had much in the way of intestinal distress, and it was early in my Dx. I ended up increasing to double the dose @ 1500 mg daily, I didn't have any problems to speak of until I hit around the 18# loss mark. That's when I started to wonder what new fresh…

Food exchanges
I recently started the Mayo clinic Diabetes Diet for weight loss and Diabetes management. Fitness Pro is excellent at tracking foods and calories. Has anyone ever tracked food exchanges with fitness pro? Can it track both calories & food exchanges( servings)? Thanks

oral medications may be better than insulin for DM II
Long-term followup from a large cohort study confirms that in type 2 diabetes, a glycemic control strategy with insulin sensitizing reduces the incidence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, while also improving cardiovascular outcomes. Among type 2 diabetes patients followed for up to 4 years, a glycemic control regimen…

Introduction
I am new here. Started using the MFP app about a month ago, and was diagnosed in February. Since my diagnosis, I have spent a lot of time reading about Diabetes and type 2, but am just getting started at actually figuring it out. The last five months have been about the basics for me, and I am still struggling with them,…

Goals suggestion
Just added an article to the suggestion list recommending that they allow goal settings for carbohydrate, fats, and cholesterol. If you think it would be good to have this, you may want to reply to it to let them know I am not the only one.

Diabetes Denial
Hi Everyone! I was diagnosed with Diabetes about a year ago...after being warned that I had pre-diabetic numbers for about two years. Something in me just did not want to take it seriously...I was in denial and I still am. My doctor, whom I love, told me that she believed mine was reversible but I had to do the hard work…

AMAZING doctor appointment
Had an excellent appointment today. Due to MFP, exercise, and wheat-free eating, I have accomplished some amazing new numbers in only 1.5 months since my diagnosis. My BG has been nice and low for most readings and my doctor has cut my Metformin dose in HALF! She's also taken away my blood pressure medication! I'm just in…

MFP and Blood Sugar Results
Wouldn't it wonderful if we could keep our blood sugar results (and perhaps others such A1C) on MFP? There are a lot of us that have diabetes and blood sugar is so important to our overall health and weight loss. It would be great to see the correlation between all the data which is already on MFP and blood sugar results.

New here
I am a mother of a 6 month old. Father diagonised with diabetes at 35, and passed away at 52 through a heart stroke. I have PCOS also and not surprisingly had gestational diabetes during my last trimester. I controlled it through rigorous diet ( and getting addicted to the glucometer) throughout the pregnancy and actually…

What to do when you have no appetite...
Admittedly this doesn't happen to me often, but every once in a while I have a day that am just. not. hungry. These days food actually sounds disgusting and it takes everything I have to choke something down. I know that I need to eat regularly to keep my blood sugar leveled and also to feed my metabolism, but I seriously…

Missing a Meal...
On Friday I had breakfast at 8:30 am. Then we were on a DEAD run, and I wasn't able to eat until 6:30pm....WOW Did I feel HORRIBLE!!! I checked my blood sugars as we were stuck in stop and go traffic on the freeway and it was at 85 and then an hour later (still no food!) and it was 90. But talk about feeling AWFUL for the…

High A1C
Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I posted on here. In addition to being diabetic I have been dealing with depression and anxiety and migraines so it's been really hard to do anything. Last week I had my blood work and the results came back with my A1C at 10 (Last time I went it was 6.7). I'm not on insulin. My doctor…

Waist circumference vs. BMI
Had the first meeting with the diabetes nutritionist. It was a real eye opener. The three major takeaways from the meeting were: 1.) Spreading the carb intake evenly through out the day - never go below 120 grams carbs per day 2.) Shoot for 60 minutes of cardio for 6 days a week 3.) Get waist circumference down to 33…

Peter Attia on Ted Talks
This is a repost from another thread, I can't find the original thread. Anyway this an interesting take on insulin resistance and judgement. I hope he's successful with moving the research of IR and diabetes forward. http://www.ted.com/talks/peter_attia_what_if_we_re_wrong_about_diabetes.html

Feeling yucky and low blood sugar. Coincidence?
Hi All, I've been working this Type 2 and MFP for about a month now and doing very well! Today I felt sick - tummy ache, general weakness, etc like I had the stomach flu. All day my blood sugar has been "low" - 79, 97,88. Is this a coincidence? I did eat some things - banana, chicken, etc. Thanks Margaret

Bug bites and minor wounds
Ever since I have been diagnosed, I have noticed that little bug bites take forever to go away and continue to itch like crazy for a very long time and take a while to heal. I have also notice that very minor wounds take awhile to heal too. Does anyone else have this problem or am I just weird.

Where can I find some quick, one serving bread recipes?
It's summer time, and around our hose that means sandwiches. LOTS of sandwiches. Mostly for lunch, but occasionally, when we've been out in the yard all day, they can serve for dinner. Most of the innards for these sandwiches I can quite happily wrap in lettuce or cabbage leaves, which I enjoy. But, one of my favorites is…

Celebrating!
Ten weeks ago I was diagnosed with type 2. On April 4, my A1C was 12.9, my cholesterol was 333 and my triglycerides were (gulp) 859. Today my A1C was 6.8, my cholesterol was 123 and my triglycerides were down to 104!!! Woo Hoo!! Strict diet and meds work!!! (Not to mention the addition of exercise!!!)

Insulin Resistant
Diet and exercise. I think I've heard those two words used together before. Well, here's what I've learned. When I ignore both of those words I become insulin resistant. How resistant? With Novolog a sliding scale was around 5. I shoot 30. With Lantus I was originally told to inject 10 units. I inject 85. Yesterday I…

Protein and low blood sugars
Maybe someone can help me out here. I've heard that eating something hi in protein and help raise your blood sugar from a low and help keep it stable. This confuses me. Personally, I need carbs to get mine to go up, but lately have been including protein along with the carbs to raise it if needed. Can someone explain this…

can we talk supplements?
I keep hearing about different supplements and wondered about other people's first hand experiences. At the animal hospital, we used to use Chromium Glucose Tolerance Factor for cats the the DVM referred to as 'transient' diabetics (eye roll) as a daily supplement. Keep in mind that this was about 10 yrs ago or so. More…
