New and looking for pals
Hello everyone! I'm new to MFP and I'm really enjoying it. I'm hoping to join in discussions and groups as I learn my way through this new lifestyle. If anyone would like to add me as a friend, I would very much appreciate it! I plan on tracking everything (even the bad) and I would like feedback and support- which I, of…

Are shirataki noodles Primal/Paleo?
I have been looking at these and was wondering if these qualify as Primal or Paleo. I have not seen them on any ones list of "stay away" foods but I also have not seen them talked about anywhere recently. They do not seem to be highly processed but I am getting ready to make a Pho base for my lunches next week and thought…

Struggling to stay on track
Not sure why but here goes. I did whole 30 for 45 days found it so easy felt great, loved the food and my abs improved significantly I had the beginnings of a six pack. I stopped because I felt I was getting too obsessive and didn't want to replace one eating disorder (binge eating) with another (obsessively reading food…

Anyone counting carbs?
I have to admit, one reason I originally thought Paleo sounded like a great idea is because I'm so sick of counting (or trying to count) calories. So I did a Whole 30, then moved on to Paleo which is perfect for me. I am actively trying to lose body fat though, so to keep myself in line I'm counting carbs. Not going too…

Chris Kresser
Who watched the Dr Oz Paleo show with Chris Kresser? What did everyone think? I must say,I thought it was very underwhelming and it seems as though Palep was changed to suit the masses http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/your-personal-paleo-code-diet-lose-weight-and-get-healthy-life?video_id=3217269778001

Carb article
http://www.precisionnutrition.com/low-carb-diets I found this pretty interesting, mostly because I found that I experienced a lot of the issues mentioned when I tried to stay low carb whle being paleo. Of course I don't agree with the comments about inflammatory foods, or wheat. I do think some people can tolerate…

Why sweet potatoes?
It seems like whenever I see lists of Paleo recipes, or eating suggestions, or... well, really just about any other discussion of Paleo eating, there is usually an emphasis on eating sweet potatoes. Can somebody tell me why sweet potatoes are considered to be such a good thing on a paleo diet? It seems like they would be…

Fatty Fatty Fat Fat

Hiding the scale?
Hey Paleo Pals, I'm going to try not compulsively weighing myself everyday! From now on I'm weighing myself on the first of every month. Anyone want to join me? I'm trying to remember this is a slow and steady journey towards health, not a quick fix fad diet. I've started cutting gluten and most grains and reduced a lot of…

Paleo Teas
I do apologize as I bet this topic has been discussed before, but I was wondering what teas people drink on the primal and paleo lifestyles. I have 5 flavors of Yogi tea in my pantry, but discovered tonight that 3 have barley in them. Luckily the organic Chair Rooibos flavor I have been drinking DOES NOT, yay! What…

I've been doing Crossfit for ~4 months and have been dabbling with paleo diet. We're starting a Paleo challenge and I would like to add friends for support/recipes/food ideas etc etc. It would be helpful if you have an open diary so I can see what others eat, I'm especially intersted in snacks as I find those are my…

The Paleo Diet And Ulcerative Colitis
Anyone suffering from Ulcerative Colitis will appreciate this story, actually mostly anyone who lives a paleo lifestyle will. Lindsey put her ulcerative colitis in remission by following a strict paleo diet, versus resorting to drugs and surgery. Read more here:…

Gelatin anyone?
I know bone broth is the best way to get gelatin/collagen and mend your digestive tract. BUT, I've been reading about using gelatin as a supplement and I wanted to try it. How? Do any of you use it, and how do you do it? I don't drink smoothies, so that's out for me. I saw something online about mixing it into your coffee,…

How much "exercise" do I really need?
I walk 2-3 miles every few days and now that I'm well into the Whole30, I'm feeling that I can do more. I have a gym membership but haven't gone in a year, and used to go to a CF box until it got too expensive, but i know all of the CF workouts. I prefer to play rather than exercise because I want my exercise to come…

Recipe advice
Hello friends So I have made this recipe before and it was seriously amazing/delicious/easy: http://pinchofyum.com/healthy-jalapeno-sweet-potato-chicken-chili I want to make it again but this time in a paleo fashion which means no beans and cheese. Easy enough. But what I would like are some suggestions on what I could…

Fermented Foods
I was reading on MDA at some point that we should consume fermented foods. What's the best thing or what do you do? I really cheese so I have been buying those (expensive) cheeses like Gouda that have the cheese cultures in it. Is there any particular amount of fermented food we should be eating?

Auto immune paleo - Non-scale victory
I began the auto immune paleo diet about a month ago. I was already paleo for quite some time before the switch to AIP. I have had painful rosacea skin for about 15 years.. After one month on AIP, I have left my house 3 times this week with only sunscreen (no makeup!). It has been years since I have been willing to let my…

Hi folks, I hope you don't mind me posting here but I'm looking for any advice on dealing with bloating. A bit of background info... I've only been on the Paleo lifestyle for one week. I'm eating clean and exercise-wise I'm doing Jillian Michaels' 6 Week 6 Pack (not because I want a six pack, but because I figured it will…

My paleo challenege
My gym is currently doing a paleo challenge; the rules being to eat 90% paleo for 60 days. We were tested in 4 activities before the challenge began (1000m row, mile run, dead lift, back squat) and will be tested again after the challenge ends. Whoever shows the most improvement wins. The challenge started on Feb 1st so I…

Broncos or Seahawks, does anyone care?
Just putting this out for chatter... I live in Portland (big Seahawk area) but moved here from Denver (crazy fans have flag pole in their front yards with Broncos flags above the American flag there). So I have chided the Seahawks people at work all week.

Adventures with Avocados
So, I tried the avocado shampoo that I'd been looking at. My first lesson - make sure they're good and ripe. Seriously, I think good candidates for this would be the good candidates for guac. The recipe: 1 avocado 1/4 cup hot water 2tsp baking soda Mash the avocado meat, add baking soda and water, mix until you get a…

Brands for homemade yogurt and butter
Hi there, I am thinking after my whole30, I may add in some homemade yogurt, almond milk, and possibly butter. What brands do the primal folks and/or not as strict Paleo peeps use to make a starter yogurt or what brands do you buy to incorporate dairy into this lifestyle?

waterd, good or bad
I had gut issues, which is part of the reason we went paleo. Gut was slow and a little backed up. Paleo has helped to some extent, but recently, it's helped more than I would prefer. Its to the point that i am hurrying to the bathrrom, and a good time of the day it is just watery poo. It occurred me today, is my gut…

I usually cook two new recipes over the weekend to have for lunches and made nothing this weekend, nothing appealed to me. I'm thinking about making rogan josh and . . . What's been rocking your paleo world lately? Nothing with eggs please.
