Recent Gastric Bypass patient
So, I just had gastric bypass on Tuesday April 16th, and was wondering if anyone else felt bloated 5 days later? Also I am curious if people still find myfitnesspal a useful tool to use after surgery since I haven't been able to find a way to adjust my settings so it doesn't tell me that I am not eating enough lol

Weakened Immune system since RNY (?)
hello, I've been really sick off and on since my RNY surgery (May 19, 2014). It feels like if someone even sneezes in the room I am in I get sick LOL Docs ran a full blood pannel and everything looks okay. Has anyone else experienced this?

Batwings
I have flab on the back of my upper arms. I think this may be my biggest problem area post-surgery. Has anyone had good results losing or tightening this area prior to surgery? It is probably easier for men- I am female. How did you do it?

How I Make Yogurt
I am finally able to have yogurt again, so this weekend I made a batch, which prompted me to want to share this with you all. This is copied from a Note I posted on Facebook about a year or so ago. The best thing about making your own yogurt is that you know exactly what goes into it. Mind you that this is homemade plain…

Weight Loss Surgery and it's effect on Diabetes
Many of us have been diagnosed with diabetes. I was first diagnosed about 4 years ago. I had gained weight over the years and had a poor diet of processed carbs, junk food and sugar which let to the elevated blood sugar levels. I started taking prescriptions to control it and increased the dosage a few times. I've read…

Off my meds...
Well at least for 3 months! I went for my PCP follow-up. She's really pleased with my numbers and the fact that I've lost 20 pounds since she last saw me in February. She told me to not bother with my meds until we do some new blood work and get a new baseline. I am pretty stoked about that!

Hunger Already 3 days post op???
So, I'm 3 days post op and I'm getting used to my smaller stomach. I seem to have slight sensations of hunger. This seems really odd to me. Everyone I've talked to that's had this surgery has told me I won't feel hungry for months. Is this normal? Is it maybe all the food commercials I'm seeing as I watch basketball? This…

Bariatric Surgery Myths
Part of my nutrition education through my dietician was to watch this bariatric surgeon's video. Here's one on Surgery Myths. They seem to make a lot of sense to me. Was wondering what other people's thoughts might be? https://youtu.be/z5nm1GXqrm4

Just wondering how long you...
...were off of work after your surgery? I was talking with Lisa this morning and she was saying she has to go back next week (2-weeks post-op). I originally thought I had to too, but was approved for STML for 4 weeks. I don't know how I would have managed going back after only 2 weeks.

Preop issues ....**sigh**

Vomiting liquid aka "the foamies"
Okay, not the greatest subject, but I'm hoping there are others out here that have dealt with the foamies. I am 8 weeks post gastric bypass. Often after my meals, I find myself sick at my stomach. Sometimes I have full on vomiting, with meal contents coming back up, then followed by what seems like an enormous amount of…

Week 2 weight gain?
I'm 14 days off from my surgery (3/2), I'm eating really well; averaging around 500 calories per day, averaging 63g of protein and I'm getting all my water. I'm avoiding carbs, eating protein first... but I'm gaining weight and after 4 days it's starting to get discouraging after 10 days of lose lose lose. I don't want to…

Beginning this new journey has me wondering about what lies ahead. So I ask of you, what strategy do you have/use to get through the emotional, or just plain difficult, times?

On the road to recovery
Good morning all. I am happy to say that I am recovering nicely after my surgery. It seems I've had a lot easier time of it than some people I've read about. The nursing staff at my hospital were amazing and took such good care of me. Jason, the night nurse my first night, came in to check on me and asked how I was doing.…

Sleeve and Acid Reflux
For those who have had the sleeve, do you now have acid reflux? Did you have it before surgery? I had been leaning toward the sleeve, but I understand that it can cause bad acid reflux.

6 Months' Progress
Today is 6 months from my surgery. I started at 252.2 pounds and I have lost nearly 85 since then and am now overweight, not obese. I was squeezing into my size 20 pants and 2x shirts and today I have on size 12 skinny jeans and a large sweater. Woot!

Weary of waiting... I don't do patience well...
I started this process November 9th when my doc referred me to my bariatric surgeon. Four months later and so far I've had a 5 min consult with the surgeon, who has now referred me to his bariatric clinic for group orientation, tests, and a consult with their nutritionist, but they haven't scheduled any appts yet, so its…

I just wanted to tell everyone on here that I am very thankful for all the support you have given me. I don't think I would be this far along my journey, successful, if it weren't for the encouraging messages and wonderful advice you all have given. Thank you!!

MFP won't track diary completions under 1,000 calories
If you ate less than 1,000 calories in a day, and clicked on the "complete this entry" button at the bottom of the food diary, MFP will tell you that you didn't eat enough, and it will not announce it on your profile. So if you want your friends to look at your diary, either (1) they're going to have to look at it without…

High intense activity post op
So I'm closing in on my surery time. Got one more appt with the doc and should be ready for RNY surgery in June. Anyhow, I really want to start playing hockey again next winter. 12years out and I'm back to my lowest weight.
I am excited to post that when I first joined my fitness pal (August 2014) my goal was to take off the 40lbs that I re-gained over the past 12 years (post surgery). Well, I am within 1 pound of that goal. My ultimate goal is to go where I've never been before, down another 30lbs. So, I'm not completely done yet but I'm…

Post VSG looking for support and motivation
Hi, my name is Frances. I've been overweight pretty much all my life. I tried a lot of dieting over the years, sometimes with my mom, sometimes on my own, or alongside friends, but I could never hit the weight loss goals I wanted, and would eventually become demotivated and gain any loss back, and then some. In July 2014,…

Please friend me again!
I cleared out my friend list and started over because I was accepting anyone who sent me a friend request, and that got out of hand quickly. I couldn't tell who my WLS friends were and who wasn't and it all got really confusing... I also changed my username (I was rillavanilla & I'm pre-op right now) to match my YT channel…

How to survive clear liquid day?
Tomorrow is the day before I go for surgery and I am to be on clear liquids only. How did you survive that day? I'm afraid I'm gonna be terribly hungry. I've done good on my liquid diet, but tomorrow I am worried about since I won't be able to have my protein shakes.
