weight goals?
I was almost 240lbs before having the sleeve done last September. In all my years of dieting I always thought that if I could just get down to 150lbs, I'd be satisfied because I had never seen that number on the scale before. Now that I'm 7 months in, I am down to 157lbs. Now I am wondering what my goal should be? Clearly…

So beyond frustrated
So I just hit my month since my surgery and I've lost 30lbs which is awesome however due to my lupus and arthritis its made it impossible to work out. Walking lately seems impossible its just ahhhhh. This is the point where I would turn to food for comfort thankfully I haven't but just been super emotional. Has anyone else…

I did it!!!
It was wicked hard, but I completed the Rookie Triathlon here in Austin, TX yesterday. My time was 2:11, which isn't bad considering. I had to walk my bike up at least 4 hills and I could only walk the run part but I did it! I I kept telling myself "It's ok if you are the slowest. You are essentially doing the same thing…

Had Surgical Consult Yesterday - (sorry, I write novelettes)
My surgeon signed off and is preparing the letter to the insurance company. I'm scared to death that I will be denied again.... In 2000, I had my stomach stapled. Back then, the only education I had was a 20-minute video. I did great. I lost 158 pounds. I actually kept it off for six years. But then I started gaining and…

Daily Carb Counts?
Another post has me thinking about carbs. lol. I know most of us worry first about protein, water, exercise, rest, etc. Don't see much discussion about carbs. Do you monitor how many carbs you intake? What do you average? Do you eat fruit? I know some are on low carb diets. If so, what's your daily limit? Is this a short…

Pre-Op Indecision Good Days = No surgery
With my recent weight loss, and the positive vibes I am feeling about eating healthy, I began to doubt my reasons for wanting the surgery. Seriously, I am eating better than I have in ages, and overall I have energy and feel good. So why should I go through this drastic measure to "mutilate" my body (as a friend had…

Planning speeding up
In the next three weeks, I will complete my labs, EKG, psych evaluation and second of three required education courses for RNY. I should have everything ready to submit by the end of May, two weeks ahead of my final class. I feel like things are moving more quickly now .This surgery feels more like a reality. That's a good…

Did you have a "food funeral"?
I watch a lot of WLS youtube videos and have heard a number of vloggers mention "food funerals" pre-op. Did any of you have a final feast of your favourite non-friendly post-WLS foods to lay them to rest for good before surgery? There seem to be two separate camps post-op.... those who work their favourite foods into their…

Mushy/Pureed Food Recipes Needed
Hello Everyone! I am starting to run low on mushy/pureed food ideas. Tell me you favorites from this stage to help give my diet some variety. THANKS!!

Food addiction or hormones?
I hear the term "food addiction" a LOT in the WLS community. Is that really a thing? I'm more inclined to believe it's a chemical/hormonal issue that is resolved by the release of fat, subsequent stabilisation of hormones, and removal of hormone gremlin (sp?) in the stomach... Curious if there have been any studies or…

Hello everyone! I have been going my gastric surgery classes in preparation for surgery and how things will be after surgery. I am taking the classes with my husband because he is planning surgery as well. I have been doing pretty good with my food choices and have steadily lost weight and if I gain its no more than 2…

Acid Reflux
I am having terrible reflux during the night and I wake up to a huge sore throat and begin to cough. I already take a prescription omeperazole once a day. I would hope that I could find a remedy to fix this issue before I talk to the doctor. Someone mentioned bananas and I tried that but with my sore throat from the reflux…

4 1/2 years post gastric bypass
Hi all, my heaviest was 324, then 289 at my first RNY visit, after surgery I got down to 155. I am now at 188 and have to stop eating like a regular person! I visited my nutritionist and she put me on 1200 calories and 30 minutes walking per day. I am on my 3rd day and have lost 3 pounds. Hope it remains easy. How are all…

BMI - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson OBESE
I was browsing Yahoo and came across this article about BMI. It explains pretty well how BMI is a bad predictor of good health. https://www.yahoo.com/health/why-dwayne-the-rock-johnson-is-technically-obese-117180855078.html

Calling all pre-oppers for a fun questionnaire & support!
I thought it would be fun to get to know each other a little in order to better support each other as we get our surgeries... Feel free to answer these questions or add more... Skip any you don't want to share... Where you are in the WLS process? Do you have a surgery date yet? I was referred to my surgeon on November 9th,…

Tell me. What was the best thing that happened today?
Every day has something good in it. Sometimes it's hard to see at first. But once we take a moment we can see that there was likely at least one good thing. Maybe someone you admire told you that you're doing awesome. Or you got a new job. Could be that you got home and your kids cleaned the house...it could happen. For…
