Hair Loss
Has anyone experienced any hair loss after surgery? I had RNY on 2/19/15 and have always struggled to get enough protein. I began to notice hair loss in late May and it's continued. Not huge clumps, but a lot more strands than usual. I've been trying to increase the protein and have reconciled myself to having a protein…

Weight lifting
The great debate of lifting after bariatric surgery. How many of you regularly incorporate weights into your week? How many are against it? There's so many views on weight lifting. I've started lifting weights 4X a week (heavy weights) and incorporating some cardio into that. On the other 3 days I am doing strictly cardio.…

For those with the sleeve
Good morning. I'm thinking about revising band to sleeve (have been for a long time). Curious how well do you have to chew your food up before you swallow? Will small unchewed pieces get stuck? I know you have to and always should chew well, but how well? I have to do it with the band and sometimes even the smallest piece…

New to the group and looking for VSG buddies
Hi folks, I was sleeved on the 25th of May this year. Since starting my pre op diet 2 weeks prior to surgery I've lost 26lbs so far. I just signed up to MFP to start tracking my food and eventually my exercise. It would be great to have some buddies for motivation and inspiration.

Need good sports bra recommendations.
Hi everyone! This is my first post on this group. I had surgery 02/24/15 and I am down about 70 lbs now. I've started the couch to 5k and I am at the end of week 4. I am pretty busty (40DD) and I need a good sports bra (a racerback one) that will hold the girls in place, while I run, THAT WONT GIVE ME THE UNIBOOB LOOK. I…

When did your weight loss slow to a crawl?
I had RNY on 10/01/2014 my HW was 355, SW 296, CW 186. I am 5'7" and the goal my Dr set is 175. This past month I have only lost 3 lbs. I am exercising daily and on point with diet with the exception of Fathers Day. Can anyone tell me when their weight loss slowed down? How close you were to goal when it happened? Thanks!

Hello everyone, My wife is having sleeve surgery on July 20th and will be starting her liquid diet prep July 6th. They have her doing the Unjury diet plan. The plan is laid out well in regards to what she can and cant have but I was wondering if anyone who has been through this in the past had any tips or info as to ways…

The "What are you doing to lose weight?" question
So my weight loss is noticable now and people are asking me what I am doing. I tell them that I had weight loss surgery. I don't tell them that I am working hard as hell to get the weight off. I am watching what I eat, exercising and have made a lifestyle change. If I say that I changed my diet and am working out, it seems…

Cooking for family
Hi All, I'm new to this group and on Day 1 of my pre op liquids. How do you manage to cook for family while doing this part? I'm overwhelmed right now. I think just the fact that I'm finally starting this life changing journey is getting to me. If I had to cook actual food right now, I don't know what I'd do. At this point…

How did you make Meal Replacement Drinks bearable?
Hi everyone! I am new to the group, and had my last dietician appointment on 6/25 before scheduling my WLS. I have received a couple samples of Bariatric Advantage/Unjury Meal Replacements from my doctor's office. I am supposed to be drinking 4 servings every day for 2 weeks before my surgery. I figured trying them before…

Getting back on the wagon
I am 19 months out from surgery n I am scared. I have done so much work but now my body has figured out that I tricked it. At my 18 month check up the dr. Said this was a critical time. I have to lose another 14 lbs in 3 months. I had a surgeon who swore by this app so I am coming back to it. There r so many new things…

Lapsed but back now!
I have a confession. I stopped tracking because I thought I was doing well and could manage. My weight loss stopped. So I am back. I need to track to do this. I need to exercise more. I need the support of my peers to keep me on trrack. And I am sorry I wasn't here to be a support to others. Surgery is hard and scary, and…

Looking for a Friend who's had RNYGB and started with similar stats
I know everyone is different, but I'd love to know how someone with similar stats has progressed. I have three family members who've had the surgery, but they started out either much heavier, or they are considerably shorter than I am. Anyone close to this before surgery? Goals Thread - Let's hear 'em!
I missed last week, but I want to get back on the Goals wagon. Mine for this week: * Protein, protein, protein. I've found away to make this Isopure palatable, and it doesn't make me sick so yay! I want to get a minimum of 60 grams a day but I'm shooting for 70. * Water. 8 glasses a day. It's one of my normal weekly goals…

Small intestine surgery?
I have not had weight loss surgery although I struggle with weight loss. I was in a near fatal car accident last year and had to have most of my small intestine removed. I have a little less than 5 feet remaining. I guess it is the second half of the bypass. My stomach and appetite remain the same but I am very conscious…

Newbie here
I'm new to the group, and I will be having my 4th preop visit for weight loss on Tuesday. I am anticipating my surgery to be the last week of September. I have 3 cousins who have all gone through RNY surgery, with the first one just hitting her 2 year post op, and the most recent, just 2 months. They all went to the same…

Surgery 6-15-15
I'm trying not to think about it too much, but I have to say that thanks to everyone here I feel pretty calm about my surgery on Monday. Knowledge is power and I feel ready for the changes that are coming my way. That's not to say there won't be tough days ahead, but I know how quickly the first few weeks will fly by. I'll…

Dating after WLS
Hey Friends, I recently jumped back into the dating game after WLS and am not sure how/when to tell someone that I've had WLS. What do y'all think? Have/would you tell them immediately, later, or not at all? Did it make a difference if you were dating online verses meeting someone organically? While I feel better about…

Breaking up with the scale???
So I had my VSG on 6/4 and I'm noticing I'm becoming a little scale obsessed. I'm weighing myself 1-2 times a day. I've already gone down a size between the pre-op and liquid diet. I'm afraid I'm developing a bad habit. Anyone else have issues? I'm thinking of throwing it away! I'm not sure if I'm ready to break up with my…

Weirdest comments
so the other day I ran into a woman that I hadn't seen since last summer. She asked me if I was losing weight on purpose or was I sick. I told her that it was on purpose, that I had wls and was working my butt off. She rolled her eyes and said "I would of rather heard that you had cancer. I wouldn't touch that with a ten…

Carbs, Fat, Protein Macros in mfp - what % do you use as goal? (1 year post op RNY)
I have heard so many various macro levels for WLS when it comes to carbs, fats, and proteins. I have tried various settings but currently I am at 30% Carbs, 45% Protein, 25% Fat. My weight loss is slowing to 1 lb a week on average. I work out weight lifting at the gym these past few months 3-4 days per week so I need carbs…
