Looking for pals
Hi! My name is Tina and I'm looking to start anew! I've had a failed lapband procedure (4yrs of pain and misery) and looking to get a conversion to VSG. Back to the beginning I go! Could use support, advice and friendship! Hope to hear from you!

slipped
I had two off days this week. I ate donuts and chocolates, and pizza. My appetite went crazy. The more I ate the more I wanted. It scared me when I saw how easy it was to get off track. I hope that scare was enough to keep me on the straight and narrow for awhile.

Hi, 2 yrs out and getting back on track, join me,add me let's support each other.
My name is Sara, I've lost over 150 lbs even with my recent gain. I know the statistics and I refuse to be one of those who people say rotten things about. Now is the time and the season to get back to the weight loss surgery basics. Tomorrows basic, wait at least 20 min before and after food to drink anything.

Sleepy after eating?
I've found that if I don't get quite enough sleep at night that when I eat I get very sleepy. If I am able to nap it can knock me out for a few hours, but usually I've got too much going on to even try and I just feel slow all day. It always happens after I eat. Am I maybe not getting enough fuel and my body needs to…

Calorie intake
I was curious to see how many calories everyone was ingesting. My surgeon told me not to be concerned about the many of calories however I still track them. I am doing between 600-700 calories daily not sure if that is reasonable or not. I am also having a hard time meeting my protein goals I have been sitting around 60-70…

PA App
I just found an App to help with my PA. I had been struggling with at home exercises because between my work schedule, my bad knees and never knowing what I'm going to find on YouTube. So while on Pinterest tonight I found an app called Sworkit. I can't wait to use it in the morning. It lets me customize my workouts...so…

New to the group, had the sleeve
Hello all! I've been on MFP for a couple of weeks now and found this group. It's nice to see that I can be surrounded be people going through pretty much what I am! :) I had my surgery back in September of last year when I weighed 358 lbs and looked like this.... ...but that wasn't even the start of my journey. And that…

Counting the days before surgery (27th)
So the count down begins and I am both excited, and nervous. I am having the RNY. Less than 10 days away and I did all my pre-op shopping. I know I couldn't be more prepared, but yet I still think I am forgetting to do something, and I have that "what if something goes wrong" feeling. It is helpful to see those who have…

New Pre-Surgery
Hello! I'm having the sleeve done sometime in November. Right now I am doing my six month diet plan that my insurance requires and all the other pre-surgery things. I'm pretty excited glad I was finally able to get started on losing this weight.

Treadmill or other exercise recommendations...
I think I want to get a treadmill for those days when I can't get outside during daylight hours. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with any particular brands? I know I need one with a higher weight limit. Anything else I need? Anything else I should know? If you could only get one piece of equipment, what would you…

Yet another friend seeking newbie...

I would love to have some new friends to follow and inspire me, if anyone is willing to add me. Also, if you could go back and give advice to your pre surgery self, what would you say? Thanks for your time and keep…

Data from 3 months for VSG - visual example for newbies!
I'm now 3 months to the day that I started my pre-op diet for VSG. I kept really detailed weight records and have a good chart showing exactly when and how the changes came. I thought I'd post it for anyone who wants to know what the first three months might be like visually - I know it was something I would have liked to…

Weekly Goals
I find that I hold myself better accountable if I write down my weekly goals someplace where other people can see. Let's put down our weekly goals in this thread and see how well we do. Here are mine:* Water, water, water. I haven't been getting enough water to drink, and I really want to work on getting my full 8 glasses…

Pictures. One year apart.
Mother's Day 2014 and Mother's Day 2015. My highest known weight was 317lbs (I'm a smidge lighter in the "before" pic). One year later, 9 months post-op, I am 170lbs. I run. I run so much, in fact, that I am running a half-marathon in 7 days! I've lost as much as my 14 year old weighs! Feeling very grateful today!

Sugar reaction
Several years ago I cut sugar out of my diet. This was before I had decided to have WLS. I've noticed that now when I see anything really sugary like cake, I have a strong, negative reaction. I automatically find it so unappealing and my body almost physically reacts with my stomach clenching. A friend posted a photo of a…

Sugar Free Popsicles and small amounts of food
How do you count the popsicles towards liquid (measurable liquid)? I am heading to surgery tomorrow and I began to wonder how you measure them towards the goal for 64 oz per day. Also, when you go to eating only small bites of food, how is this counted, calori wise using MFP? I never had considered that. Since I may be…

Calling it a victory
I'm still in my 3 month pre-op stage. One of the things I've been most concerned about is how I manage stress.....with food. However, after spending the last three days either at the hospital with a friend or at work, I'm exhausted but not overeating. I'm calling it a win!

What a journey...
It's been a year and a half since my gastric bypass. I've gone from 310lbs to 130lbs. I've gone from a size 28/30 to a size 6. All my heath problems are resolved. I had excess skin removal done a month ago. (Yes, my insurance did pay for it. There is hope.) I can't help but look back on the last year and a half. I see this…

Appointment Tomorrow
Hey team, I have my second dietitian appointment tomorrow morning. I'm hoping desperately that with this appointment I get the green light to meet with the surgeon and request insurance approval. I feel worse and worse everyday.

Nausea - all the time
Is there anyone out there who has nausea literaly two seconds after putting something down the hatch? I've had to resort to putting my fingers down my throat, and I know that this isn't the answer. Plus I'm getting the gurgling sound, and you'd think the food didn't have time to reach my stomach. I had sleeve surgery on…

Sleep apnea
I'm a little bummed. I had my overnight oximetry done and found out today that my results are consistent with sleep apnea. Not sure if they will require me to have a sleep study done. But I feel like I keep getting things checked off the list for surgery and more things get added.
