Skin
I looked back a few months and couldn't see where this has been talked about - so I'm just going to ask - What have you found that helps reduce excess skin flabbiness? I'm in my 6 month preop period - lost 40 lbs thus far on low carb - aiming for another 40 before surgery in January. I'm really afraid of what's going to…

Welp... back to the hospital for me
Had a sharp pain in m groin earlier today. Ignored it for a while, and it was only mild discomfort. I went to the restroom tonight, and it looks like Ive found myself an inguinal hernia. Called the after hours number (of my surgical practice) and they want me to come in tomorrow morning. It's hurting worse now but not bad…

Body Bucket List
When I started my journey I made a list of things I wanted to do in my body, mostly so my goals weren't just weightloss or boring fitness statistics. I wanted to make sure I was actually enjoying things that I wasn't able to do before and that those things would be motivating for me to keep going and push the activity…

Supplements
Does anyone use Collagen Supplements? I've been reading a bit about them. I know they won't fix saggy skin but they claim it will help with keeping your skin healthy and improve elasticity...

UTI / Kidney Stones after surgery
I've been dealing with a mild UTI for over a week and today I felt worse so I had it checked. I have an infection and they tell me they think I have kidney stones. So upset about this since I'd been feeling so great. Now I need to see a urologist. Ggggrrrrrr. Anyone else deal with this after surgery? I drink water all day…

Getting closer :)

Confession/Vent/Rant
I hit my 225 day MFP anniversary the other day and I feel like a fraud! I've actually been MIA for a couple of weeks, signing in and logging my foods semi accurately but not actively participating. I haven't been to the gym since the day I got the call my cousin whom I grew up next door to and remained very close to, had…

Bruising weeks after surgery
I don't know if my bruising issue has ANYTHING to do with the surgery or if my weight loss since then along with my blood thinner is creating the problem. Did any of you find that you bruised easily following surgery and if so, is this time limited or do I need to ask one of my doctors about it. Most of the bruising is on…

Scared about actual surgery
Hi all, I am in the process of going through a bariatric program. I have no worries about what to do after surgery, but when I start thinking about the actual surgery, I just get so scared. I'd love to know how anyone else who had this fear managed to move through it and have surgery.

Pre-op Sleeve
Hi! My name is Janice. I'm actually getting ready to have all my pre-op meetings for gastric sleeve surgery today. I will be having surgery the first week of Aug. I am very nervous and excited at the same time. At my heaviest, I was 260lbs at 5'2 1/2" tall. I wore a size 24W in pants (and they were tight) and a 2x top. I…

New to the group
Hi all. New to the group. I had VSG on 3/28/15 in Mexico and am down 58 pounds since surgery. Lost 7 on two week pre-op and my body is so nuts that I gained it all back and had maybe 2 cheat bites. I was very faithful!! So I'm pretty happy surgery has been successful thus far!! I have about 98 pounds to go. My hw was 379…

Keto Mouth Blues
I've had the keto mouth really bad for a while now. Was on the shake diet preop for 2 weeks, and it was not as bad. After surgery though. I feel like my mouth is made out of dirty pennies. Gum and mints only help for a few minutes. The shakes are overly sweet and metallic. I've had some strained soups, which seem to make…

Eating out after surgery
So I'm now five weeks out and went out with the fam for the first time to dinally celebrate some good news. Nothing fancy ordered scrambled eggs had a few bites and I was good I was full. Fingernails?
Is anyone else having their fingernails grow like crazy? With all this protein I have a full set of decent looking nails. And they're not peeling or splitting either. This is one good side effect of the surgery and the protein. I was really surprised when I stopped long enough to pay attention.

Vegetarians?
hi! I'm new to the group, and will be having the sleeve done on August 3. Just wondering if there are any other vegetarians In the group? Just thinking about good (and non-repetitive) ways to get enough protein pre and post op.

Bowel Obstruction
Nearly 9 months post - RNYGB, I just spent three nights in the hospital with a partial bowel obstruction. I had abdominal pain last Thursday, enough to come home from work early. The pain wasn't getting better so I went to the ER that night. I was admitted as they did tests to diagnose what was wrong; fortunately the…

Clothes shopping after wls
I'm prefacing this by saying that I avoid shopping whenever possible; especially clothes shopping. I know individual weight loss is a factor, but how soon after surgery did you realize that your pre-op clothes were too loose for daily wear? I've been stuck at the same size for the last few years, so I don't own clothes…

How was your immediate recovery? (RNY)
I'm having my surgery on 6/16/15, laproscopic RNY. Unfortunately that is a bad week for my family/household so I won't have a ton of support when I get home those first couple of days. If you were fairly active prior to surgery, how quickly were you back to walking a few blocks? I'm just concerned about getting my son the…
